Pizzeria Milano - Original Holzofen Restaurant und Lieferservice Mainz in Mainz

I'm currently in a hospital very close to the pizzeria. I called and asked about a pizza delivery. The man on the phone was very friendly and somewhat accommodating. Delivery is actually only €18, which is obviously too much for me with just one pizza, and I didn't want dessert or salad. The man then suggested a jumbo pizza delivered for €15 (it's really only two minutes away). Picking it up wasn't an option, as I'm not allowed to leave the hospital grounds. Anyway, the driver (not the man on the phone) came and brought me the pizza. He wanted €18 from me. "Delivery always costs €18." Well, that was a bit annoying, but OK, I'll give him €20. He can't have change! How can a pizzeria driver not have any change? They accept cash, so it must be possible! So I told him to just keep the rest and leave (we had met at the entrance). I'm really disappointed, and it's no consolation that the pizza was actually quite good. Very, very disappointing.

We visited the pizzeria as a group of five people with disabilities and received a very warm welcome and service. The food—almost all of us had pizza—was also very delicious. Overall, I highly recommend it. The only drawback was that there was no accessible restroom for people with mobility disabilities.

We often host bands in Mainz and are always happy to fulfill their every culinary desire. This wasn't easy last week, as they requested vegan pizzas, delivered at 11:30 PM directly after the show, and absolutely still warm. We didn't receive this information until around 9:30 PM that same evening. This proved difficult in this beautiful, yet relatively small city, and practically impossible—if I hadn't called Pizza Milano. They listened to my request, had a brief consultation, and then arrived at the concert venue on time with the delicious vegan pizzas, which, by the way, were still steaming hot. Amazing! The atmosphere was quite nice and the staff were really very friendly. I have to say that :) The service was great! The pizza was okay. However, I have to say that it was unfortunately the worst salmon pasta I've ever had in a restaurant. There was so much butter in it, maybe they could adjust that a bit. I'd happily go back for the pizza, but no more pasta :)

Super delicious stone-baked pizza, extremely friendly staff!

Today I ordered takeaway from this restaurant for the first time. My sons and I were to have one pizza with ham, one lasagna, and a chef's salad. The salad was just right for me, and with the yogurt dressing, it was fresh, tasty, and plentiful. My son also thought the pizza was tasty. The lasagna, however, was a visual disappointment. The contents of the aluminum tray resembled a soup, and you had to dig around a bit to find the three layers of pasta. The cheese, which should normally be lightly browned on top, was underneath the sauce/soup. If this lasagna creation had at least tasted better, we would have overlooked the fact that it didn't look like it did. But unfortunately, that wasn't the case. The cheese tasted like it was a bit old, which surprised me, since the cheese in my salad was fine, and the sauce/soup was too acidic. There was no béchamel sauce to be found or tasted. Our conclusion: We'd happily order pizza and salads again, but we won't order lasagna or other baked dishes again.

The people were remarkably friendly. We had pizza and salad. The salad was okay but nothing special. The pizza was excellent and from a wood-fired oven. At €14 to €16 for a pizza, the price is on the upper end of the tolerable range, considering the location on the outskirts of town. The ambiance is simple and unpretentious. A few cobwebs on the lamps and windows are certainly avoidable. But we think we'll come back because the people were really very nice and helpful.

A very comfortable and cozy little restaurant perfect for a lovely evening. All in all it was fantastic as you get served quickly within the first 10 minutes and don't have to wait longer than 30 minutes for your food. If you spontaneously want to take something with you, the staff is very flexible and on their toes. I have nothing to complain about and the pizzas are all great!! :) :) Really highly recommended.

We had a delivery date of 12:00 p.m. and were only delivered at 12:25 p.m. Since we are a school class that runs every 45 minutes, this delay was devastating. Because of the positive reviews, we were looking forward to the pizza and wanted to try the Milano. The pizza was already quite cold when it was delivered to the wobbling table. We tried to call twice to ask if the delivery had been forgotten, but no one answered the phone. Maybe there was a lot going on on December 26th? The driver asked for a tip and didn't know about the delay. We would have liked a gesture like a Coke or something similar for the long waiting time or a phone call so that we would know. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the food. Due to the chaos, the dough was a little too short in the stone oven. We would still like to order again.

We have been ordering from Milano again for ages. We usually make pizza ourselves. And lastly we ordered from “Pizza Pasta”. But they burned down. Since the recessions were more than positive, we realized that there must have been a change in the meantime. That gave hope. We waited about 1.5 hours for delivery. After the driver left and we sat down at the dining table, we saw what was actually delivered. The spaghetti Napoli was rigatoni with a spicy tomato sauce. Instead of olives, which were canceled, the pizza special had peppers, which are just as disliked, as a topping. She was also almost cold. We immediately called and reported the problem. My statement could not be correct. It was actually rigatoni instead of the spaghetti we ordered, but it couldn't be spicy. Oh well. My wife, who likes spicy food, complained about this. At the same time, my son spit out the food after the first bite because it was spicy. When we were told about the peppers in the piazza, they just said that there was a lot going on. Nothing more was said. So no concessions or anything like that. Then I said that I would take the peppers off the pizza and decided on this rating.

There's a construction site here in Mainz, we're renovating the sports field 100 m away as the crow flies and I have to say it was the best pizza I've eaten in my entire life. I ate a piece at the construction site and had to call back immediately and let them know. Very nice people. Very good food

A solid pizza for a good price. We had a Margherita pizza and a Lolo pizza. Both were delicious and the edges were nice and fluffy. For dessert there was a pistachio tiramisu, which we liked, but there was very little pistachio in it (just sprinkled on top). Very nice staff.

We placed a delivery order. The minimum order value is very high and delivery was quite quick. However, a delivery item was forgotten, which only became apparent after the tip was paid. It was promised that we would deliver within 20 minutes, but in the end it took 45 minutes after two phone calls. Tips were not refunded even though they were requested. The pizzas themselves were only lukewarm and had few toppings, and the prices were quite high.
