Pizzeria da Franco in Trier

Called yesterday to reserve a table. There is no online reservation system there. Answer: “We won’t do that, you just have to come by and see if anything is available.” !?!? huh?

I was a bit disappointed to find blackened olives in a rather higher-priced salad instead of real black or just normal green ones. Otherwise good service and good food.

Simply the best pizza in Trier. And the best thing: even available in gluten-free and suitable for celiac disease. You are extremely knowledgeable about the topic of gluten-free. There is an extra oven and all ingredients are freshly prepared.

Delicious gluten-free pizza! It only comes in one size, which is smaller than the regular pizzas, so don't compare. But it was well made, with a fluffy yet crispy edge. We enjoyed them and would recommend them.

There are very good gluten-free pizzas there. The best my wife has eaten so far. She was thrilled. The regular pizza was also very good. The service staff was very nice and accommodating.

For me the best pizzeria in town. When I moved to Trier 4 years ago, it was recommended to me by some Trier veterans. You should reserve a table on weekend evenings! - There are plenty of seats in the beautifully Italian-rustic interior of the restaurant - The selection on the menu is diverse and actually covers everything. I particularly like the many dishes with more exotic ingredients such as salsiccia, nduja and buratta. - Beer tastes good and the drinks are always brought quickly. - The pizzas are very large - similar to Losteria etc., and traditionally Italian prepared. The base is wafer-thin, super crispy and airy. When it comes to starters, I always found the bruschetta and carpaccio highly recommended. If you wish, hot oil can be served with your pizza. Not a long wait here either. So far I've always had my food after 15 minutes. - Prices are relatively low compared to other pizzerias in the area, so great for students and retirees. - Actually the most important thing for me, since my girlfriend has celiac disease: the restaurant also offers all pizzas and pasta dishes gluten-free. These taste almost like the normal versions, only cost a small (and very fair) extra charge and are always available without pre-ordering. Unfortunately, Trier doesn't have many gluten-free restaurants, which is why Da Franco is a real hotspot. Everything just works for me here, just go there. A bonus point for me because the carbonara here is prepared according to the original recipe - guanciale, eggs and parmesan, no cream

Really another great Italian restaurant where you can feel the Italian flair in the food and service. A really delicious velvet imbocca on the menu and great wines 😉

Super large pizza and super tasty, friendly service!

Ein Einheimischer sprach uns an als wir die Speisekarte vor dem Ladengeschäft studierten; er meinte, dass es die beste Pizzeria von Trier sei. So informiert betraten wir das Lokal. Eine freundliche Servicekraft führte uns zu einem Tisch. die Speisekarten wurden uns gereicht und wir wurden auch schnell fündig. 3 verschiedene Pizzen in Normalgröße (35 cm). Die Zubereitung einer Pizza dauert nicht lange und wir hatten nach ca. 15 Minuten unsere Pizzen vor uns stehen. Boahh... sehr gut belegt und appetitlich. Wir bekamen auf Nachfrage scharfes Öl gebracht. Sie Pizza sah nicht nur gut aus, sie war superlecker! Das war ein guter Tipp, den ich hier auch ausspreche.

A local spoke to us as we studied the menu in front of the store; he said it was the best pizzeria in Trier. So informed, we entered the restaurant. A friendly waitress led us to a table. The menus were handed to us and we quickly found what we were looking for. 3 different pizzas in normal size (35 cm). Preparing a pizza doesn't take long and we had our pizzas in front of us after about 15 minutes. Wow... very well topped and appetizing. When we asked, we were brought hot oil. The pizza not only looked good, it was delicious! That was a good tip, which I also offer here.

We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday lunchtime without a reservation and were quickly assigned a table. Everyone who worked there walked past us at least three times without us being given a menu or asked for drinks. After 15 minutes we were finally brought a menu and after another 10 minutes we were asked what we would like to drink. Then everything happened very quickly. The food order was taken quickly and it was served quickly too. Pasta and pizza were very tasty but the staff wasn't quite on their toes.

The pasta specialties are excellent. We had Paccheri and loved it. Fresh, fruity and well seasoned. Normally I prefer to eat pasta in Luxembourg, but there is now another very good option here in Trier. We also found the bruschetta delicious.

Friendly operation and good service. You should reserve a table for the evening. What's special is that gluten-free dishes are also offered. My wife loves the gluten-free pizza.

It was a real experience, the spaghetti vongole was a dream... Really damn tasty, and you could see and taste that the spaghetti was freshly cooked. It's a shame that I don't live in Trier...

Nice, not overloaded atmosphere, very nice service staff and now to the kitchen... I personally think all the dishes are on point, I've never had such a great kitchen before. I can only recommend this restaurant, it was a real treat. We chose everything from starters to desserts. The homemade tiramisu was also so delicious, because you can do so much wrong with this dish, the alcohol tasted very slightly in the background, like a very fluffy cake and not the alcohol-soaked mush that you often have and everything was so nicely prepared. All in all, price performance completely ok. with lambrusco for 2 people €73.10. The photos say the rest.

Cozy pizzeria with romantic niches separated by plexiglass and a beautiful battery-operated lamp on the table. Here there is still romantic intimacy where no stranger can hear their conversations or sit next to them. Good pizza, you can choose between large or small. However, I miss the nice little gray-haired lady (businesswoman and waitress, figurehead of Pizzeria da Franco. The Pizza Messicana was also hotter and more lavish back then.

The pizza was ok, but also not good for what it cost. The (rosé) wine was exceptionally bad. I'm sure that the whole bottle cost them maximum as much as the glass they charged me. When I informed the waiter how very bad quality the wine was, he blatantly ignored the remark -though he had both heard and understood me- and made me pay anyway. Avoid this place if you can. In my opinion it's a bit of a tourist trap.

Here we were also informed about the topic of gluten-free pizza eating. From ordering to paying, everything went to our complete satisfaction! Such good food, and my gluten free friend also had a very tasty gluten free pizza with some of the best dough she ever tasted. Lots of options on the menu, good wine and lovely service. Many vegetarian options too. The style of the inside of the restaurant is very rustic - not really my thing, but to each their own! Would definitely recommend!

I'm on holiday coming from Sardinia, walking through the streets of Trier we saw the pizzeria. We decided to go in to try their specialties. It was all EXCELLENT!!! It is not easy to find restaurants or pizzerias that offer gluten free and vegan menus. At Franco's we were SUPER satisfied..😍 The service and kindness of the waiters were also excellent.. Thanks for everything guys, excellent advertising for our sweet Italy.❤️💕

Unfortunately, as a Trier resident, I felt like a tourist who had to eat as quickly as possible and then give up the table. The food was really satisfactory (the second visit in a week) Unfortunately you weren't asked if you wanted something to drink or if you wanted a coffee or something similar after your meal. The desert you ordered never arrived! There was no apology or anything like that, just a slight shrug of the shoulders. I'll just avoid this pizzeria now and eat where there's a limoncello as a thank you.

I've never had such bland spaghetti aglio olio con peperoncino. Had to reorder olive oil and salt. Too bad, it was nothing

After my favorite Italian restaurant in the Hunsrück, I have now found a great new one as a replacement in Trier. The perfect pizza. With the same thin dough throughout. Fresh toppings. The best spicy pizza oil (which you can also buy), great affogato, nice staff, not a long waiting time... What more could you want. Absolutely recommended 😁

Professionel staff, good food, vegetarian choices

Delicious pizza with a thin, crispy base. The large pizza is for those who are really hungry.

It's nice to sit outside. Is also friendly. The food reads well on the menu, but is unfortunately of poor quality. Predominantly industrially prefabricated ingredients are used. Accordingly, sensitive stomachs have a clear reaction to this. In addition, the price-performance ratio is absolutely not right. Totally overpriced and aimed at tourists.

We ordered the combination. Both were cold inside. After about 10 minutes they came back, An indefinable cheese on top, two crumbs of minced meat, no bechamel sauce, no tortellini. Tomato puree made warm with lots of pasta. We have never been served such a bad combination!!!

The gluten-free pizza costs €5 extra, which is a bit steep, but it was certainly one of the tastiest I've eaten in a long time.

This is by far the best pizza 🍕 ever. The service is super friendly and the food was prepared very quickly. The children's pizza was divided by 2 as requested and served with the drinks. Price/performance is convincing. The pictures of the 40cm pizza speak for themselves.

I got the Fettuccine cream truffle and it was delicious.

This was our second time in the restaurant. The food was always delicious. The pizza was really big and had a crispy base. The main reason for our visit is the option of gluten-free dishes. That always worked without any problems and tasted very good. We will be happy to come back.

Today I am going to be reviewing Pizzeria da Franco, which I was lucky enough to be able to see while visiting the beautiful country of Italy in the big state of Texas. Did you know that the whole of Europe can fit into Texas?? It’s crazy right! I was today years old when I found out lol!! Anyways at first I wasn’t sure if the pizza was going to be good, it looked kind of different when I opened the box not like Papa John’s pizza. I really like papa John’s pizza because papa John’s is based!! But when I had a taste of Franco’s pepperoni pizza, I couldn’t believe it as my taste buds bursted with flavor that I have never known before. Better than any papa John’s pizza I ever ever had and I didn’t know that was possible!! What an amazing pizza wow Italians really know how to make their pizza it’s crazy I have never seen this place before. 10/10 recommend!! Das Essen ist hervorragend. Die Pizzen sind geschmacklich sehr gut und riesig. Preislich schon am oberen Ende, was der einzige Minuspunkt ist. Service ist gut und das Lokal ist zentral gelegen, wenn auch die Einrichtung relativ langweilig ist. Aber im gesamten eine ehr gute Pizzeria

Zuletzt waren wir hier kurz bevor wir ausgewandert sind und jetzt, nach 10 Jahren, kann ich nur sagen - es ist immer noch so lecker wie damals. Die Qualität und die Größe haben sich nicht verändert, man kann ruhig sagen very good value for money 😊 Die Leute, die da am arbeiten waren, waren alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten viel Spass.

Bestellt wurde eine glutenfreie Pizza mit Brokkoli (handgemacht & lecker). Mein Mann bestellte ebenfalls eine kleine Größe aber eine reguläre Weizen Pizza. Trotz derselbe Größe, war die glutenfreie Pizza sehr klein und auch noch viel teurer als die größere mit Weizen. Sie verlangen 5€ Aufpreis für eine viel zu kleine glutenfreie Pizza. Meiner Meinung nach viel zu teuer. Die große “normale” Weizen Pizza kostete 14€ und die kleine glutenfreie 19€. Es ist schön, dass es eine glutenfreie Option gibt, aber es wäre super, wenn die Menschen mit einer Erkrankung (z.B. Glutenunvertraeglichkeit) nicht als profitbringer gesehen werden.

De pizza large is megalarge...dunne bodem...lekker

Versteckt gelegen - aber dafür dann auch entsprechend gut. Ein echter Italiener mit einer guten Auswahl an landestypischen Gerichten und natürlich auch Pizza. Die Lokalität ist sehr gefragt, daher ist eine Reservierung zu empfehlen.

Auf eine Empfehlung eines hiesigen Kollegen empfohlen, etwas skeptisch wg. der gemischten Bewertungen,aber trotzdem den Versuch gewagt und ich kann nur sagen wir sind nicht enttäuscht worden. Ganz im Gegenteil ohne Reservierung trotz vorweinachtlichem vollen Haus nicht abgewiesen worden sondern schon nach relativ kurzer Wartezeit ein Tisch zugewiesen bekommen. Zudem hatten wir dadurch Gelegenheit im Vorfeld schon die lecker aussehenden Speisen zu begutachten. So wussten wir das auch die "kleinen" (großen) Pizzas uns vollkommen ausreichen würden. Das Wichtigste aber, wir sind nicht enttäuscht worden weder was die freundlichen Bedienungen noch was das sehr schmackhafte Essen betraf. Alles in allem ist dieses italienische Restaurant eine Empfehlung wert für den der in Trier einmal gut Essen gehen will.

Das Lokal gibt es schon seit 50 Jahren in Trier. Die Auswahl an Pizza/Speisen ist sehr groß - auch vegetarische und vegane Speisen. Es gibt Pizza mit 36 cm und 40 cm Durchmesser. Das erscheint einem riesig, aber der leckere Boden ist sehr dünn und deswegen passt es! Was mich gestört hat, war die Lautstärke im Raum. Wir saßen mit einer Gruppe von 15 Personen etwa in der Mitte des Lokals, das bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt war. Zeitweise warteten noch Gäste im Eingangsbereich auf freie Plätze. Das war nicht mehr so gemütlich. Trotzdem eine klare Empfehlung für dieses Lokal! Werde sicher wiederkommen - vielleicht dann zu etwas ruhigeren Zeiten!

Heerlijk italiaans eten voor een goede prijs. Als je een pizza besteld zorg dan dat je een grote honger hebt want je krijgt een megapizza!

Pizza Tip Top... die große ist wirklich GROẞ sodas auch die kleinere schon reichen würde. Super belegt mit tollem Rand/Boden absolute empfehlung!!! Bei nettem Personal... was will man mehr...

Wir waren an einem verregneten Freitagabend hier um 18:00 hier und waren erstaunt, das bereits wenige Minuten nach der Öffnung schon ein Drittel der Plätze im Gastraum besetzt waren. Für die anderen Tische gab es bereits Reservierungen und wir bekamen dennoch freundlicherweise einen Tisch für 1 1/2 Stunden. Nach einem schönen Aperitif kamen sehr flott die beiden riesigen Pizzen (40 cm !) die frisch und schön belegt waren. Dünner Teig, genau richtig gebräunt und schöne Blasen am Rand: So muss Pizza! Dazu hatten einen schönen Rotwein (Primitivo). Alles sehr lecker und reichlich. Der Service war allerdings etwas hektisch und nicht sehr aufmerksam und die Atmosphäre eher praktisch eingerichtet. Uns hat es aber gut geschmeckt und wir kommen gerne wieder und testen die Pastagerichte.

Matig, niet vies maar ook niet heel lekker

Seit über 30 Jahren gehe ich dort gerne essen, wenn ich in Trier bin. Super Service, großartiges Essen. Die Pizzen sind riesig, aber auch die Salate sind sehr ordentliche Portionen.

Seit Jaaaaahren mal wieder da gewesen. Ohne Reservierung zu dritt Platz bekommen. Grundlegende Änderung: Die Pizzen sind groß bzw. seeehr groß und dünn geworden (früher "normal" groß, etwas dickerer Teig). Menge an Belag und Geschmack waren gut👍🏻 Mir gefällt diese Art der Pizza nicht, das ist aber individueller Geschmack und Vorliebe. Kirner geht wie eh und je überhaupt nicht😖, aber es gibt ja Alternativen😉 Für mich von (eine) der besten Pizzerien in Trier zu einer ordentlichen (oberes Mittelfeld) "abgestiegen"🤷🏼‍♂️ Ist aber wie gesagt den persönlichen Vorlieben geschuldet. Objektiv: solide 4****👌🏻

We went for lunch in this Italian restaurant. It was busy but we managed to get a table in this cosy place. The service was friendly and efficient. We had two aperol spritz and ordered one large diavola pizza and one salsiccia e porcini pasta. We both agreed that the food was authentically Italian and delicious. We had a carafe of primitivo red wine with our mains too. We really enjoyed our dining experience and recommend you give this place a try.
