Pizza Mouse in Gießen

Today we ordered the following: a 28cm pizza with salad and a drink (as advertised) for €15.90, a 40cm pizza for €18.60, and a €2 surcharge for spelt dough. Total price: €36.50. Upon arrival, we were asked to pay €45. The reason given was that debit card payments were supposedly not possible because a cable had been damaged by the city. Instead, we were offered a combination of a €15 PayPal Friends & Family payment and €30 cash (we only had €30 cash on us). They claimed that paying the exact amount via PayPal was not possible because L.S. would have more work with it. The employee was rude. He is presumably the owner's son, as his first name is on the menu and his last name matches the owner's on the website. No receipts were issued. The pricing and payment process were incomprehensible. Even though the pizza tastes good, I can't recommend the service here...

Good pizza, very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the quality is sometimes acceptable, sometimes good, and sometimes not.

The price-performance ratio was poor; the pizza was okay but far too expensive. Drinks were WAY too expensive (and according to the staff, they weren't even for sale). They refused to give us a receipt.

We've always ordered pizza from here and were satisfied. Today, around 9:10 PM, we wanted to order two pizzas for pickup, as the website states that orders can be placed until 9:30 PM. At first, no one answered the phone. After several attempts, we finally reached the pizzeria, but the employee told us they were closing time and wouldn't accept our order. After I pointed out the website information regarding order placement, the employee said he didn't care and hung up. Very disappointed with this service.

The pizza tastes great, I've been ordering regularly for 25 years. Unfortunately, for about a year now, I've been repeatedly told they're closed when I try to order. According to the website, I still have 15-20 minutes to place my order. (Open until 10 pm on Fridays, pizza orders until 9:30 pm) If you're constantly being told they're closing at 9:10 pm, they should either correct the times on the website or rethink their approach.

Very cool shop and super delicious food

We had lasagna, spaghetti, and pizza today. The food was absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, the price was (a bit) too high. The restaurant itself gets zero points: it was cold, uncomfortable, and loud... investing in the interior would be amazing. The employee at the counter seemed a bit annoyed today (?), apparently because I wasn't happy about waiting for my food at the counter. (Restaurant)

I got a pizza from there again today after a long time. I always had very fond memories of it from my childhood. Unfortunately, today was rather disappointing. I ordered two pizzas. Delivery wasn't possible due to a lack of drivers, so I had to pick them up in 30 minutes. I arrived relatively on time but still had to wait almost half an hour. Then, somewhat confused, I discovered that the bill is always automatically 10% higher than the stated price, as indicated on a sign at the register. There was no mention of this price increase online. As compensation for our wait, we received a free pizza bread, which I must acknowledge positively. At home, I then unfortunately discovered that one of the pizzas was missing the Parma ham. Oh well, my own fault. I could have checked it myself when picking it up. On the other hand, for a pizza costing almost €14, I expect all the ingredients I paid for to be included. A shame. The pizza itself was satisfactory to good. During my unfortunately rather lengthy stay at Pizzamaus, I, as a business administration student, noticed the utter mismanagement. The owners constantly wandered aimlessly around the place, making all the employees nervous and distracting them from their work. Tasks were only roughly assigned, making efficient operation almost impossible because everyone constantly had to coordinate with each other. On top of that, the place was clearly understaffed. There wasn't a driver. In the kitchen, there were three people plus two owners in suits, wearing sunglasses in the dark at 8 pm, and not working. So, all in all, I unfortunately can't recommend it at the moment.

This restaurant is definitely a great alternative for people with allergies or intolerances. The service was very attentive, friendly, and we were greeted warmly. The food was truly delicious, and our individual needs were taken into consideration. Overall, a pleasant experience – we'd be happy to return!

The pizza is fantastic and highly recommended! It's not somewhere you go to have a nice evening, but Pizza Mouse doesn't make that claim at all. The two colleagues behind the counter were very friendly and accommodating! Gladly again!

There is good pizza in the American Style (from the "pan"). The ambience is a bit barren, but my pizza was very tasty and the people were very friendly. Moderate prices, completely ok. At the next opportunity!

I'm writing this review in the hope that someone from the pizzeria will read it, as I think they're making a big mistake, possibly unknowingly. It's one of the few places that serves gluten-free pizzas, so I went there to order a gluten-free pizza and watched them prepare my pizza. I have celiac disease and therefore can't and shouldn't eat gluten. That's why I'm also very careful; not only must the dough and ingredients be gluten-free, but they also must not be contaminated. And there's a lot of cross-contamination of food. The woman who made the pizzas wore gloves, and with those gloves, she handled all the pizzas, including the gluten-free pizza. Not only that, but the ingredients are all handled with the same glove, which is already contaminated. The ladle she uses to make the tomato sauce touches the regular dough and the gluten-free dough, which is also contaminated. In other words, to sell something as gluten-free, it really has to be gluten-free; otherwise, you have to be aware that you're harming the health of people with celiac disease. I wanted to email you directly so I wouldn't publish it, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I hope you take this as constructive criticism, because it's not intended as anything else. The employees at Pizza Mouse are always very friendly and you immediately feel at home. The food tastes really good. It is particularly practical that there is also gluten-free dough and vegan cheese - also for everyone who cannot eat certain ingredients. The price-performance ratio is right, and there is also seating outside. We can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Texas BBQ with spelled dough is super delicious. The host was also really nice. The location is kept very simple. Feels like a youth hostel. There could be a bit more style, but that's not the point. The pizza was outstanding, gladly again.

I've gotten pizza there several times. Every time I am amazed by the taste and the dough. The gluten-free pizzas taste incredibly good. Not many pizzerias can compete with that.

Everything is learned by comparison, which is why I can’t give it a 5. But it's delicious pizza. I liked it I recommend it to those who love not only the Italian style of pizza. It's a mixture of styles.

For the price that is now being asked, the pizza is simply no longer worth it, and the quality varies too much depending on who is in the kitchen. In another review, the dizziness with the size was mentioned. It's already happened to me too. Used to be there every 2 weeks. Now I don't come at all anymore. It's a shame, but there are enough alternatives

Pictures are cold, taken at home. Of course, the taste and visual freshness are even better. Friendly and very accommodating staff. Had a really great experience there today.

Nice concept, you can choose from different sizes with different numbers of toppings, cheese and tomato sauce are always included. There are also different types of dough, e.g. spelled, gluten-free (at an additional cost). You also have the option of making pizzas, the ingredients of which are specified. Salads and pastas are also on the menu. The service and ordering was good and very accommodating. Pizzas tasted good, but a point was deducted because the fried egg on the pizza wasn't cooked through. The restaurant was clean and care was taken to ensure that the tables were ready to sit down again as quickly as possible.

Sorry but €13.60 for a medium pizza with 4 toppings, I'm out of there. Even though the pizza is mediocre, I really like going there. But at that price I'll leave it alone.

Absolutely disappointing - never again! We have ordered from Pizzamouse in Giessen several times in the past and always picked up the food. There were always minor problems, such as uncut pizzas (despite a clear request) or incorrect toppings. Once we were even given a normal pizza instead of the gluten-free pizza we ordered, which is absolutely unacceptable for people with intolerances. This time, however, it was the pinnacle: On October 12, 2024, we ordered and paid for a 32 cm pizza (order number 63), but only received a 28 cm pizza. When I pointed this out to the cashier (the manager was standing nearby), he claimed that the pizza maker had simply put the pizza in a smaller box - it was still a 32cm pizza. We measured at home and it was actually only 28 cm (see picture on the back of the box). It is simply impossible to pack a 32cm pizza into a 28cm box! In addition, the prices are absolutely overpriced in relation to the products and service offered. The price-performance ratio doesn't match here either front or back. This is pure customer fraud and rip-off! We will definitely never order here again.

Solid and consistently delicious food.

We have often ordered and picked up from Pizza Mouse. It's a bit spartan on site, but it's definitely possible to eat. When we picked it up, we've actually never experienced that everything was complete (ordering for pick-up there about once a month), it's one thing that something is forgotten when there are three dishes, but then no discount/alternative is offered as compensation. Instead, you just regularly wait 5-10 minutes for the rest of the food while the other things get cold. Won't be ordering there again in the future, it's just happened too often now and doesn't show really good customer service. The pizzas themselves taste quite good, the salad is sometimes better, sometimes worse. The spelled balls are very tasty.

Simple but quick and friendly. And uncomplicated, good gluten-free pizza. You can put together your own pizza with all the toppings. Salads are fresh and good. However, we don't eat pasta here, the sauces are too heavy on cream in my opinion, and there are no simple pasta with vegetables or just tomatoes. The atmosphere is very simple, but it is a pick-up and delivery pizzeria with the option to eat on site. There are certainly better pizzerias, but we always like to come here because we can get what we want quickly, easily and cheaply and we also like sitting outside. The price-performance ratio is right.

The pizza was great. The design of the pizza is great, you can choose a pizza size of 28cm, 32cm or 40cm. And then you choose either pre-configured pizzas or the option with 2 or 4 ingredients. In any case, the pizza was delicious. You can eat inside or outside.

BUT please accept VISA cards - this is not shown and annoying for a lot of customers. It's a must nowadays... Update 2024-08: Opening times are not like they say - often closing around 9pm and you can't get food after 8:30pm. Very sad development over the last years...

It's great and customer-oriented that you can get a pizza with fresh gluten-free dough or spelled dough here, but €17.20 for such a thinly topped 32cm pizza really isn't worth it... and unfortunately that wasn't the first time.

Delicious and seemingly always fresh. One of the few ways to get a spelled pizza. Many organic products. Unfortunately, the service is getting worse and worse. The employees can't keep up, they seem to be more interested in their conversations than in the customer.

Actually, I always enjoyed eating at the Mouse on site or even picking it up! Unfortunately, the terrace and the rooms are now very unkempt and worn out. Dishes sit on the tables forever until they are finally cleared away and then the tables aren't even cleaned. I ordered two salads to eat on site. After I asked after half an hour of waiting, these were brought to our table about 5 minutes later, but unfortunately they were packed in containers. I rejected them because I wanted to eat fresh and out of dishes. The salads were taken away by the employee. After half an hour we had no salad again. I then went to the checkout and asked for my money back for the salads. I had therefore paid for my drinks. But I'm sorry about the tip of almost €2, which I unfortunately gave too early.

Unfortunately, because of data protection, I can't be more specific, otherwise I could get a report, but I can definitely say that it could be unhygienic there*. What exactly do you not want to know🤢🤮

I would like to give 0 stars what kind of promotion is this, the store has become a singles exchange, Tinder, etc. Is it usual for you to give your female guests a piece of paper that says if she's interested, she can get in touch. How professional are you? Unfortunately, the further, the worse. We used to really like Pizza Mouse. Recently the disappointment has increased with every order. Every time something is wrong. Sometimes the pizza is burnt, sometimes the dough is like stone, sometimes something else. Today's pizza was made from an exaggeratedly thin layer of dough, with a thread inside and very little toppings. You can already tell that the ingredients for the topping have become poorer in quality, especially corn. I'm surprised that the prices have increased, but the quality has still gotten worse. Isn't it the aim of increasing prices to maintain the quality of the dishes on offer?

Unfortunately very disappointed. Yesterday shortly after 9 p.m. I called and wanted to order a pizza to pick up. I was told that they are no longer preparing food as there was nothing going on today and they are about to close.

I used to live around the corner here and regularly ordered and picked up from Pizza Mouse. Always went smoothly. Pizza can be put together freely and is very tasty. Different in taste from the standard Italians.

It was quick, the advice was good and it tasted good too! The ambience was nothing special back then, but the seats were clean and well-kept.

It's nice that gluten-free pizza is offered. Unfortunately, it wasn't fully baked. 😔

The pizza is soggy and feels runny, doesn't taste good and is an unpleasant experience

The plan: Call, drive your school buddy home, grab pizza on the way home, enjoy the evening. The execution: Call, employee answers, "Pizza Mouse pouring, just a moment please..." followed by 10 minutes of kitchen noises, including calls on the second line giving their order... Call from the second cell phone... He takes it with humor, But that doesn't really speed things up. The store itself is fine, a little more discipline when taking orders would be nice... The food is always perfect.

All 3 of us got extremely bad diarrhea from the food! And that's just pizza and salad. We have been customers of Pizza Mouse Gießen for years, now NEVER again! In my opinion, Pizza Mouse is really the last thing! “Service” and “Food”. The bottom of the pizza was completely oily, greasy and black (this happens when the pizza trays are not cleaned) and some of the toppings were completely burnt. The onions, for example, were no longer edible because they were completely black. However, based on our extremely severe diarrhea, we assume that something is wrong with the salad because we had a turkey breast salad with honey mustard dressing. Probably due to hygiene. Given the employee motivation that you can see in the store, it's no surprise. In any case, we will share our experience and will absolutely NEVER be customers at Pizza Mouse Gießen again! It's really a shame what has become of the store!

Freshly topped pizzas. Everything is homemade and higher quality ingredients. Even the cheese is grated in-house. Unfortunately, the boss is not very open to criticism. I did a trial job there and didn't enter into an employment relationship because the shop was descending into chaos. In me she would have had a young, trained chef who has worked in system catering, ala carte and commercial kitchens and even has some management experience. I would have had some tactics to get the place back in order. Above all, the pricing is very questionable. Currently with higher prices, less toppings and no more discounts. On the other hand, sometimes 4-5 people do the work that I did with two or three people in my old company with twice the turnover. Lack of structure, no use of digital support, long walking distances. You could e.g. Great to hang a digital order list including ingredients on the wall. This way you have everything clearly arranged. And new employees also find their way around straight away. Instead, the receipts are passed throughout the store. Very loud for customers to eat on site. The pizzas can rarely be picked up at the agreed time. There is huge chaos in the kitchen at rush hour, and the customers also notice that. A pity. Actually a nice shop. One of the few who still make their own and offer something good for allergy sufferers... Dear owner, there are great strategies to save costs without alienating customers... The store probably won't survive that. It's a shame you weren't willing to listen to me.

Ich schwankte zwischen drei und vier Sternen: Wirklich leckere, variantenreiche Pizza, sogar glutenfrei und vegan möglich, regionale Produkte, etwas über dem Durchschnittspreis sonst in Gießen für Pizza, dafür bekommt man aber auch etwas. Beim Belag bei einer unserer Pizzen mit der Menge an Kapern übertrieben, aber sonst gut. Ambiente im Stil eines einfachen Schnellrestaurants, Mitarbeiter:innen freundlich, Punktabzug im Service gibt's nur, weil es leider keinen Lieferservice für diese sonst gute Pizza mehr gibt.

Die Pizza schmeckt sehr gut. Aber warum muss man den Preis bei einem Pizzablech mit 2 Belägen von 18,90€ auf 23,90€ erhöhen? Direkt 5€ Preiserhöhung! Somit habt ihr einen Stammgast weniger! Jeder versteht eine Preiserhöhung, aber direkt so eine...?

Ich bin schon viele Jahre Kunde dort,aber ich gehe nicht mehr gerne hin… warum? Also der Laden ist immer dreckiger, die Tische selten bis nie wirklich sauber und die Qualität der Speisen hat auch nachgelassen… sehr sehr schade. Das Personal ist zwar freundlich,aber mitunter sehr verpeilt zb bestellte ich ein Spezi und ich wurde gefragt ob das eine Apfelschorle ist… Ähm neeein, das ist Fanta und Cola gemischt,auch Mezzo Mix genannt….

Eigentlich hatte ich nie etwas gegen die Pizza Mouse zu sagen jedoch wurde ich gestern (27.10.23) eines anderen belehrt. Wir kamen um ca.21:20 im Restaurant an und wollten etwas bestellen. Die Crew war schon sehr stark mit Aufräum- und Reinigungstätigkeiten aktiv. Wir waren zu zweit nach uns kam eine Gruppe mit mindestens 3 weiteren Personen ins Lokal und man wurde schon vom Personal leicht verdutzt angeschaut, als man noch etwas bestellen wollte. Wir haben uns dann gegen eine Bestellung entschieden da man sichtlich nicht mehr wllkommen war. Schade eigentlich denn mit uns beiden und den mindestens 3 weiteren hätte man schnell mal noch 100€ verdienen können aber so wurde das Geld von uns beiden und von den anderen woanders ausgegeben.

Die Pizza ist in den Erinnerungen besser gewesen. Aber vollkommen in Ordnung für den Preis

Pizza ist preislich und Qualitativ in Ordnung. Um 19:30 Uhr gibt es allerdings schon keine Pasta mehr, da der Herd schon geputzt sei.

Der Service lässt mittlerweile zu wünschen übrig. Dreimal bereits das nur die Hälfte vom Belag drauf war oder heute eine Pizza ganz vergessen wurde. Oder man wartet über 10 Min am Telefon weil man kurz warten solle und vergessen wird. Ich glaube jetzt war es das letzte mal das wir hier etwas bestellt haben, auch wenn die Pizzen immer lecker sind...

Die Pizza war bisher immer super, wenn man denn das Glück hatte eine bestellen zu dürfen. Lieferung kann man komplett vergessen....abends im Prinzip nie möglich! Man wird telefonisch in die Warteschleife geschickt und dann vergessen. Was ist das bitteschön für ein Service? Also entweder wird hier massiv am Personal gespart oder der Herr am Telefon hat einfach keinen Bock abends noch etwas zu arbeiten....jedes mal kommt eine andere Ausrede. ....habe ich so noch nie erlebt und als Chef würde ich dringend aussortieren, weil das so nicht sein kann. Der Laden hat laut Öffnungszeiten bis 22 Uhr auf und heute am 04.09.23 um 21.00 Uhr behauptet der Mitarbeiter am Telefon das eine Teamsitzung sei und man nichts mehr bestellen könne. Würde mich nicht wundern wenn ich einfach rotzfrech angelogen wurde weil der Mensch keine Lust mehr hatte. P.S. an den Chef: War am 04.09.23 noch vor Ladenschluss eine Teamsitzung? Kann ich mir nicht wirklich vorstellen und unabhängig davon sollten Sie sich definitiv um neue Mitarbeiter und einen funktionierenden Lieferservice kümmern.. .mit dem jetzigen Personal stimmt jedenfalls irgendetwas nicht und der Service ist katastrophal und schädigt Ihrem Unternehmen massiv. Ich habe in den letzten Wochen min 4x versucht zu bestellen und nicht ein einziges mal war dies möglich....auch nicht bei Selbstabholung!? Was soll das?! Wie gesagt die Pizza ist super und hat einen einzigartigen Geschmack, aber der Rest ist einfach nur inakzeptabel und lächerlich. Das "Ambiente" ist auch sehr in die Jahre gekommen und ungemütlich. Handlungsbedarf!!! Schnell!!!
