We liked it very much. The waitresses were super nice. I can happily recommend it.

You have to see and eat something like this. Pure memories of childhood. You have a great location and the food was great. We will be with you again on our next visit to Berlin. friendship

In this case, awarding stars is very subjective. The waitress was very attentive, friendly and took the time to chat, even though the hut was full. The ambience is great, I recognized a lot of things and it's not overloaded. The food was as I expected. When I ate the Jägerschnitzel I felt like I was transported back to school meals. I can recommend a visit to PiLa.

Back to old times 🤩 wonderful, all these memories from childhood. Everything with attention to detail, just the greeting “friendship” is a blast 😂 Fassbrause or a well-kept beer with ragout fin or Königsberger Klopse, or the Griletta... you can sample everything that OssiKüche has to offer here 😋 Pioneer stamp on the wrist included 🥳 Well, we'll come back and give our absolute recommendation. Went to the pioneer camp for the first time today with my mom and sister. It's a shame that we only found this now. Everything is perfect. The food, the ambience, the pioneering leader. I'll be back and not alone. This is a true treasure that must be preserved.

We had a wonderful meal (3 course menu), which we received as a gift voucher. We felt like we had been transported back in time and enjoyed the evening. The owner is very personable. The ambience outside and inside is lovingly designed and you feel like you were eating at Grandma's as a child. If we are in Berlin again we would love to come back here. A truly nostalgic evening. We had fun

On August 16, 2024 I celebrated my youngest child's birthday with a small family circle. We were totally thrilled and definitely not the last time there. Everything was just right, from the friendly greeting to the warm farewell. The food was simply GDR - great. I say THANK YOU for a successful evening and see you soon. ❤️

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Essen war sehr gut und auch die Getränke waren gut. Preis- Leistung war völlig in Ordnung ..... fanden es sogar noch sehr günstig. Personal war sehr freundlich. Tolles kleines Museum ist auch dabei. Wir können es nur empfehlen und kommen auch gerne wieder.

The restaurant is really beautifully and authentically decorated and actually has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the food lacks love. The solyanka was great! But other dishes lacked that certain something, sauces were very pale and bland, noodles were too soft, meat was sometimes a bit tough and dry. You can eat it, but unfortunately not much else, a bit bland and unfortunately absolutely no culinary pleasure. With the right chef who is passionate about the stove, it would definitely have been five stars. But there is definitely a lot of room for improvement in the kitchen. The service is really great, the girls are very friendly and attentive and try to make up for the kitchen's mistakes. It would be great if the chef found the love of cooking again because the restaurant, the idea and the service have the potential for five stars. A little tip, ice cubes would be great to keep drinks cold on extremely hot days.

We wait very often every time we've been on vacation in Berlin, it's a must to go there, it's so delicious, I'm very excited, we were greeted very friendly, the food was delicious and good, we're very happy there and always come I would love to go there again next month

We had fun today, it was so fun! I felt as if I had been catapulted back to the GDR era. When we walked in we were greeted with “friendship”. That gave us the first laugh. It's like a museum, Erich hangs on the wall everywhere, like he used to in every dining room. Every Ossi should definitely watch this again. Absolutely recommended! Food like it used to be in the East, even the plates and cutlery are from back in the day. The waitress and the owner were also great, both very funny and really nice! So if you want to have fun again, you definitely have to go here.

It's a shame that you treat your guests like that. Food, well. The goulash soup was like water soup without any taste. The service was subpar. Food was taken and then forgotten. The store wasn't really well attended that day and yet everything was blamed on the many guests. We wanted to order drinks and this was only possible if you made your presence felt, otherwise the glasses remained empty. Empty dishes were left and not cleared away. I will not visit this restaurant again.

Cena in famiglia. Abbiamo prenotato on line e mangiato all'esterno. siamo stati accolti con grande gentilezza e simpatia...in italiano! La persona che ci ha servito ha studiato un anno in Italia da giovane e così ci ha aiutato a capire un po meglio il menù in tedesco. Abbiamo scelto pietanze tipiche della DDR e ci sono piaciute molto, compresi due dolci. Servizio, cucina e prezzo ottimi. Dentro è ricco di memorabilia da fotografare. Zona tranquilla e raggiungibile a piedi da Alexander Platz (dove risiedevamo noi).Consigliato vivamente

Enjoying dinner during the GDR era is an excellent option here. The atmosphere should be as full as possible with great experiences and memories. I was given permission to take photos but not generally to use my cell phone, which is a rule that has to be implemented here! The prices are clearly acceptable and the energy flat rate is manageable in times of high energy costs. The service was excellent and I thank you for the experience and will definitely come back!!!

It was very good at Pila. However, we had a voucher for 60 euros, we each only ate a farmer's breakfast for 12.90 and drank a lemon soda and a beer and had to pay over 11 euros on top of that, which seems somehow strange to me. Conclusion: Never give a voucher like this again

The best thing was the urinal, corner toilets are so awesome. The garlic sauce is criminal, so it's milder to suck on a clove directly. Great shop, good food, gladly again

It was a surprise for me from my family, after 34 years without a communist upbringing, I was back in the middle of it all...totally great! I could remember things... just awesome and then the staff... Keep it up and I swear I'll come back to see you next time 👍🏼

We were invited to PILA by our children for my wife's birthday. My wife and I grew up in the former GDR. You should find out in advance what kind of restaurant PILA is. If you expect a 3 star restaurant, you're in the wrong place here. I can say you feel at home and the atmosphere takes you back to your childhood and youth. We really enjoyed our stay and were both able to reminisce about old memories, which were not least supported by music from the GDR. Well, our children often looked at us strangely when my wife and I exchanged basic memories of the objects we saw there and talked about one or two episodes from our childhood and youth. Visiting PILA was a very nice experience and we will definitely eat there again. The service in the restaurant is very friendly and you can tell that she puts her heart and soul into it, even jokes and a short chat were possible. When it comes to food, I can only say, TOP, I take my hat off to the cook who, after such a long time, manages to prepare food that tastes like it was cooked by my own mother, even the ImNu coffee tasted authentic. All in all, a wonderful experience in this day and age to be transported back to your “Sturm und Drangzeit”. Thanks for that !

Great restaurant with friendly staff...but you shouldn't eat here...Berlin meatloaf was a tiny portion and the large currywurst had a strange aftertaste as if it was about to go bad...service and staff 5 stars...food minus 5 stars

A truly wonderful experience. I got the special menu and, in addition to very tasty food from the GDR era, I also got a pioneer scarf and a GDR visa. The nice gentleman even put on a uniform to hand it over. When I'm back in Berlin, I'll definitely stop by again.

We really enjoyed our visit to Pila. Both the restaurant and the food were very authentic. We liked the food and ordered the Pila menu special. The service was also original “Berliner Schnauze”, we felt very entertained. Would always recommend this experience! The prices were reasonable and fair.

We went to the Pila restaurant today and really got our money's worth. The dinner was a birthday present and the birthday child really enjoyed it too! The inside of the restaurant is really authentic and you can marvel at some relics from GDR times. The dishes were typically GDR-style, we opted for the DDR dinner menu special. We enjoyed it very much. Of course you can't expect 5-star cuisine, it wouldn't have been authentic, that's logical! The waitress Renè was also super nice and entertained us well, there was even a photo in the original uniform at the end. We would love to come back and would definitely recommend the visit :)

We are really shocked and angry about what we were delivered. Everything is completely drained and the portions themselves are really super small! Total rip off. The taste was ok, but it could definitely be much better. To date, the worst order we've ever had delivered by Uber Eats.

For former GDR citizens, a journey back in time

It doesn't get any better. The atmosphere is unique, the boss is great and the food was first class. The long journey was more than worth it, I will come back for €100. Always ready.

Unfortunately, the focus is more on the “experience” than on the food. And you get the impression that they are resting on the fact that the restaurant exudes GDR charm thanks to a collection of relics from childhood days scattered throughout the store. The seasoned meat was okay, the spirelli with tomato sauce and Jägerschnitzel were rather boring and a bit bland, the red jelly had a terrible taste. As if the contents of the bag had just been mixed with water and boiled - we didn't have anything before, but there was still no shortage of sugar in puddings etc. - the vanilla sauce was nothing more than colored water and completely tasteless. For the entire menu - and we're talking about canteen food here - you shell out €22.90 plus a €1.50 energy allowance per person... the staff are nice and open-minded, but also very easily overwhelmed when taking orders and serving and billing. It was an experience, but I wouldn't do it again and wouldn't recommend it.

This is not only a restaurant but also a museum. There is something to see everywhere. I have no idea how they do it, but the food tastes as original as it did back then. Great local!

A small restaurant that can only look so great if you put a lot of love and passion into it. No matter whether table decoration, menu, a panoramic view, the choice of music or going to the toilet... Everything automatically catapults you back to the good old GDR times.

Nice collection of antiques though, Anyone who sells meat in flatbread for grilletta has no idea about the grilletta from the GDR. Flatbreads were not known in the GDR. Prices way too overpriced.

You simply have to experience it again: a real Kettwurst or “Jägerschnitzel with tomato sauce” like in the school lunch menu?? The ambience brings back many memories of the “socialist youth era”. Our table was recognized as a “Collective of German-Soviet Friendship”. But for that you have to create the HUGE-GIANT schnitzel!!! I strongly recommend reservation - this is possible online. PS: There is a ban on cell phones in the “dining room” - you are only allowed to take photos!!

In the eastern part of the city, you can still breathe the air of before 1989, when the Wall was torn down. It's cramped, dark, dirty (alas), but we eat real dishes in a real place, with furnishings, accoutrements and constant references to the GDR. The service is friendly but very disorganized. It's good to book and know German... they barely understand English, let alone Italian!

You come in and are immediately greeted with “friendship”, the choice of table was free, the ambience of the Absolute Hammer was a unique journey through time! The food was simple and tasted great and even served on original DDR dishes, so definitely recommended for a slightly different kind of restaurant with a journey through time! I'd love to come back.

A nice, nice restaurant on Prenzlauer Allee with many relics from the GDR. Above all, great service from René and Fatma, who took great care of us. The food was very good, huge schnitzel, almost impossible to make. The steak aux four was also very tasty, the only criticism here was that the steak could have been a bit bigger, The portion might be too small for men, so that could be worked on. Thanks to the fantastic service and the good food, we would love to come back 👍

I was with you with my girls, they gave me a present for my birthday. Your restaurant itself is cute and definitely brings back memories of that time. You welcomed us with "friendship", funny idea. Unfortunately I wasn't that happy with the food. The noodles were very softly cooked and half of the seasoning consisted of a jelly-like liquid. My friend's looked completely different. And I really enjoy eating spicy meat! The Jägerschnitzel and the Swedish ice cream sundae were good, although when it came to ice cream I couldn't understand why it wasn't possible to only charge for 2 scoops instead of 3. But well, my girls tolerated it. Otherwise you are definitely a great team. And overall, I had a nice time with you. Friendship 😊

Great atmosphere that runs through the entire restaurant without being intrusive. The staff was always friendly and accommodating, the menu was very varied with GDR classics and good home cooking. And of course the food tasted excellent. The price-performance ratio is great. Only the in-house Pila beer wasn't my thing, otherwise a top restaurant! After the meal there was a little chat with the (presumably?) owner. You definitely have to see this.

There are many dishes from the old days to eat. It's practical to make a reservation in advance because it gets crowded. The concept of the Pila is awesome even for people who aren't "Ossis" like me.

There's a bit of a GDR feeling coming up. Many original items from back then have been collected and are being examined by many. The service is friendly and quick. For me the food was quite authentic, plentiful and tasty. We'll definitely come back there again soon.

Beautifully furnished with original items from the GDR period. The food is also reminiscent of old home cooking from back then. The waitresses are super nice and are the icing on the cake. The greeting here is not “good day” but “friendship”. Reservation would be an advantage as the location is always busy. The location can be easily reached by tram or car (attention to parking space management). It was a very nice evening for all nine of us.
