It's an experience! You pass “the border” and are placed! As punishment for using my cell phone (to make calls), I was given an ugly smock to wear and my friend got away with being taken into custody 😂 The food was great, the staff was extremely entertaining and funny.

Nice atmosphere, I was transported back to my childhood. The food was great, we had the East German jägerschnitzel. The noodles were really a bit too soft. The boss was a bit strict at the beginning, but that's apparently how it should be. A short conversation with him and I immediately liked him. The decor is simply great, it's nice that there is such a restaurant.

Cool guy who makes a GDR restaurant authentic! It is also a small GDR museum. We'd love to come back!!!

The location is as described, pure nostalgia. The boss is a bit rude towards the guests. This is how the comrades and gentlemen of the Stasi appeared during the GDR era and it no longer fits...the tone was simply cheeky. And a hidden energy flat rate of 2 euros per person is sneaky.

In a way it's a must if there's one or two points that I personally didn't like. 1. Reservation required, all well and good but when you get an appointment and then see that three quarters of the restaurant is empty you ask yourself why that is. Even two women who came by spontaneously were turned away because everything was supposedly fully booked. During the hour I was there no other guests came. Either you don't want to or you don't need it. 2. I found the food to be pretty rushed for the price. For a Jägerschnitzel where the noodles were cooked so softly that it was almost porridge is not justified in my opinion. Otherwise very friendly staff and the atmosphere is really worth seeing.

Yesterday's visit was a journey through time! It was just great! From the greeting with “friendship” to the dessert, simply brilliant! The staff super friendly. The atmosphere is like a museum. There were many memories of the past. My daughter was amazed at what I told her about some things. We will definitely eat there again next time we visit Berlin. Then my husband is there too and he can reminisce. See you soon!

The owner wasn't very friendly. I'm Not sure if he was trying to create the atmosphere of East Germany or if he was just not a very friendly person. The decor was very interesting, my friend really enjoyed the decor. If you are interested in history and don't care about customer service this is a great place to go.

GDR party with an authentic Mangel experience We took part in the GDR party in the PILA restaurant and were looking forward to an entertaining evening with good food and nostalgia. The concept was fundamentally successful - entry with a visa exchange and the pioneer scarf as a small gift ensured a fitting atmosphere. The taste of the food was okay, the selection was typical of the GDR era. The spiced meat and the Jägerschnitzel were particularly well received. But while the food was convincing, the lack of that time was probably portrayed a little too realistically: There was no coffee, ice cream or anything to snack on. If you wanted a coffee after your meal, you had to go to the Späti next door, like we did. The entertainment program with GDR music, Helga Hahnemann Double and Tele-Lotto was well-intentioned, but dragged on a bit in places. The lottery winnings were rather unspectacular. Overall, an evening with a harmonious atmosphere, but some weaknesses in the implementation. Anyone who wants a GDR feeling with all the trimmings - including supply shortages - could get their money's worth here. Not suitable for vegetarians and vegans

If you want to briefly immerse yourself in the old days, then this is great. Unfortunately, we found the prices quite high, but with a Groupon voucher, it's doable.

My wife took me here for our anniversary. Everything is super authentic :) From the food, to the welcome and the service to the ambience. An absolutely entertaining experience that invites you to reminisce. We'd love to come back.

We were there for the first time, as old Ossis we just found the atmosphere great, we were treated very nicely and attentively, even the food and the presentation were very authentic, we stayed until the end and will definitely come back 😍. And actually if you feel comfortable you shouldn't look at the money so much, but the prices are also moderate. A recommendation for anyone who likes nostalgia 👍🍻

We were here for the first time today, my son had made a reservation, I wanted to try it out, I was born in East Berlin, built in 1968, I thought it was cool with the greeting, friendship, I thought it was great, the food was very good, we'd love to come back, we were only allowed to drink cola today because I was there by car, but you think back to the time that wasn't always nice. The tomato pasta was literally just overcooked pasta and ketchup mixed with water!! Awful. Also, they charged more than in the catalog.

Back to the past! A great visit to our history. In addition to the solyanka and spiced meat menu, there was hunter's schnitzel and, at the end, "cold dog". The Waldmeisterbrause rounded off the menu. The portion of schnitzel with spiced meat and fries was also great. Highly recommended for friends of our GDR history!

A special meal with my parents to relive the past. I grew up myself and knew a lot. This was all strange to my children and they were amazed. Very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff "friendship" The food was also very tasty, like great-grandma's My parents really liked it too. At first my dad was upset because his daughter came around the corner again so spontaneously with dinner and then during the week, but in the end he was happy and was able to tell and show his grandchildren even more about the past. Reserved a table spontaneously due to a TV report. Really great ambience in a nice GDR atmosphere, you enter a new, bygone world! Food and drinks are absolutely authentic, large portions, freshly prepared and at absolutely reasonable to normal prices. Instead of simply raising the prices on everything, they decided on a per capita flat rate, a really good solution in my opinion! The service girls are really friendly and take the time to have a chat. Sometimes we would have liked a look at the back of the restaurant, then there would have been even more drink requests 😉! THANK YOU, ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDATION, WE WILL BE BACK!!

Very simple dishes for all ages. Who likes/didn't like sprinkled noodles, for example? (But the ones with sugar are officially missing). Very tasty and well made. East facing facility, very comfortable. Nice staff (boss( What I think is really good is the ban on cell phones so that I can concentrate on everything (and that didn't exist yet anyway) You could probably talk about price/performance. discuss, but I think that's fine. The portion sizes are also good

I went here on a Groupon deal and had a DDR-Burger with potatoes and coleslaw. I also ordered a beer. The food and drink were both delicious, the service was attentive and the decor was fascinating.

I visited this delicious restaurant in August 2024. You feel as if you are traveling back in time to the GDR. The food was super delicious. I had never had the experience of GDR cuisine before. I had a delicious solyanka as a starter, a Jägerschnitzel as my main course and cream puffs as a dessert. In terms of price it was absolutely more than ok. So I'd love to come back. We had a great evening in the “pioneer camp”. In a cozy atmosphere, good food and a great atmosphere, we went on a journey through time to the GDR

Here you can travel back in time to the GDR regime. You can marvel at all kinds of stuff from the GDR era here. From the knife to the chairs, everything is from the past. That fits. According to the menu, the dishes are exactly what you would expect, typically East Algic. Unfortunately the quality of the food is really not good. The solyanka has hardly any content and is far too thin. The sauce for the main courses is a bad roux. Only the Jägerschnitzel with Spirelli noodles could be rated as good. Too bad.

Rustic atmosphere, you're basically eating in a GDR museum. The staff is very friendly and funny, the food is rich and the beer is delicious. We'd love to come by again.

In this case, awarding stars is very subjective. The waitress was very attentive, friendly and took the time to chat, even though the hut was full. The ambience is great, I recognized a lot of things and it's not overloaded. The food was as I expected. When I ate the Jägerschnitzel I felt like I was transported back to school meals. I can recommend a visit to PiLa.

Went to the pioneer camp for the first time today with my mom and sister. It's a shame that we only found this now. Everything is perfect. The food, the ambience, the pioneering leader. I'll be back and not alone. This is a true treasure that must be preserved.

We had a wonderful meal (3 course menu), which we received as a gift voucher. We felt like we had been transported back in time and enjoyed the evening. The owner is very personable. The ambience outside and inside is lovingly designed and you feel like you were eating at Grandma's as a child. If we are in Berlin again we would love to come back here. On August 16, 2024 I celebrated my youngest child's birthday with a small family circle. We were totally thrilled and definitely not the last time there. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Essen war sehr gut und auch die Getränke waren gut. Preis- Leistung war völlig in Ordnung ..... fanden es sogar noch sehr günstig. Personal war sehr freundlich. Tolles kleines Museum ist auch dabei. Wir können es nur empfehlen und kommen auch gerne wieder.

The restaurant is really beautifully and authentically decorated and actually has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the food lacks love. The solyanka was great! But other dishes lacked that certain something, sauces were very pale and bland, noodles were too soft, meat was sometimes a bit tough and dry. You can eat it, but unfortunately not much else, a bit bland and unfortunately absolutely no culinary pleasure. With the right chef who is passionate about the stove, it would definitely have been five stars. But there is definitely a lot of room for improvement in the kitchen. The service is really great, the girls are very friendly and attentive and try to make up for the kitchen's mistakes. It would be great if the chef found the love of cooking again because the restaurant, the idea and the service have the potential for five stars. A little tip, ice cubes would be great to keep drinks cold on extremely hot days.

We had fun today, it was so fun! I felt as if I had been catapulted back to the GDR era. When we walked in we were greeted with “friendship”. That gave us the first laugh. It's like a museum, Erich hangs on the wall everywhere, like he used to in every dining room. Every Ossi should definitely watch this again. Absolutely recommended! Food like it used to be in the East, even the plates and cutlery are from back in the day. The waitress and the owner were also great, both very funny and really nice! So if you want to have fun again, you definitely have to go here.

It's a shame that you treat your guests like that. Food, well. The goulash soup was like water soup without any taste. The service was subpar. Food was taken and then forgotten. The store wasn't really well attended that day and yet everything was blamed on the many guests. We wanted to order drinks and this was only possible if you made your presence felt, otherwise the glasses remained empty. Empty dishes were left and not cleared away. I will not visit this restaurant again.

Cena in famiglia. Abbiamo prenotato on line e mangiato all'esterno. siamo stati accolti con grande gentilezza e simpatia...in italiano! La persona che ci ha servito ha studiato un anno in Italia da giovane e così ci ha aiutato a capire un po meglio il menù in tedesco. Abbiamo scelto pietanze tipiche della DDR e ci sono piaciute molto, compresi due dolci. Servizio, cucina e prezzo ottimi. Dentro è ricco di memorabilia da fotografare. Zona tranquilla e raggiungibile a piedi da Alexander Platz (dove risiedevamo noi).Consigliato vivamente

Enjoying dinner during the GDR era is an excellent option here. The atmosphere should be as full as possible with great experiences and memories. I was given permission to take photos but not generally to use my cell phone, which is a rule that has to be implemented here! The prices are clearly acceptable and the energy flat rate is manageable in times of high energy costs. The service was excellent and I thank you for the experience and will definitely come back!!!

It was very good at Pila. However, we had a voucher for 60 euros, we each only ate a farmer's breakfast for 12.90 and drank a lemon soda and a beer and had to pay over 11 euros on top of that, which seems somehow strange to me. Conclusion: Never give a voucher like this again

The best thing was the urinal, corner toilets are so awesome. The garlic sauce is criminal, so it's milder to suck on a clove directly. Great shop, good food, gladly again

It was a surprise for me from my family, after 34 years without a communist upbringing, I was back in the middle of it all...totally great! I could remember things... just awesome and then the staff... Keep it up and I swear I'll come back to see you next time 👍🏼

We were invited to PILA by our children for my wife's birthday. My wife and I grew up in the former GDR. You should find out in advance what kind of restaurant PILA is. If you expect a 3 star restaurant, you're in the wrong place here. I can say you feel at home and the atmosphere takes you back to your childhood and youth. We really enjoyed our stay and were both able to reminisce about old memories, which were not least supported by music from the GDR. Well, our children often looked at us strangely when my wife and I exchanged basic memories of the objects we saw there and talked about one or two episodes from our childhood and youth. Visiting PILA was a very nice experience and we will definitely eat there again. The service in the restaurant is very friendly and you can tell that she puts her heart and soul into it, even jokes and a short chat were possible. When it comes to food, I can only say, TOP, I take my hat off to the cook who, after such a long time, manages to prepare food that tastes like it was cooked by my own mother, even the ImNu coffee tasted authentic. All in all, a wonderful experience in this day and age to be transported back to your “Sturm und Drangzeit”. Thanks for that !

Great restaurant with friendly staff...but you shouldn't eat here...Berlin meatloaf was a tiny portion and the large currywurst had a strange aftertaste as if it was about to go bad...service and staff 5 stars...food minus 5 stars
