PeterPaul in Berlin

I’ve had the luck to eat in two Michelin restaurants before they got their stars in England (Carter’s & Purnell’s) and I’m gobsmacked PeterPaul has not got a star yet - I’ve every expectation they will one day. The food, the setting, the service, all brilliant, welcoming, exciting, tasty, different and yet so German at the same time but not at all pretentious. We loved every second of our time at PeterPaul and wouldn’t change a thing - you do need to work on your set jelly though, the English have expectations when it comes to nursery food 🤣

An absolutely wonderful dinner! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is excellent. It was a very relaxing dinner-they definitely do not rush you, despite the two hour reservation window, and the ambiance is something special. Definitely worth the visit!

We recently discovered PeterPaul and it has quickly become our favorite restaurant and our go-to venue with foreign guests. If you are looking to try German cuisine, this is the place. The tapas sized plates offer you the chance to try the many delicious and beautifully presented choices. You won’t find giant slabs of Wiener Schnitzel or pork knuckle here!! The waitstaff is the best—knowledgeable, efficient and so friendly that you feel right at home. Do not miss PeterPaul when in Berlin!

PeterPaul is an absolute gem! The food was a perfect blend of traditional German cuisine with a modern twist – absolutely delicious! The cocktails were top-notch, but the real highlight was the service. Our waiter, Clemens, couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive. It was my birthday, and he went out of his way to make me feel truly special. We had an unforgettable evening and will definitely be coming back!

Die Karte war vielversprechend und jedes Gericht hat das Versprechen mehr als eingelöst. Vom Fischstäbchen, den Rote Beete -Knödel bis zum Crumble und den Getränken - vielen Dank für ein besonderes und besonders leckeres Erlebnis. Wir kommen garantiert wieder!

PeterPaul in Berlin impresses across the board: excellent food, excellent service at eye level and perfect wine recommendations. Whether vegan, vegetarian, meat or fish – everyone will find something suitable on the menu here. We were there on Saturday evening with three friends and had a great time. The ambience, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food make every visit a special experience. Absolutely recommended!

Waren an unserem ersten Abend in Berlin dort essen. Die Geschäftsidee, quasi Tapas mit deutscher Küche anzubieten, ist außergewöhnlich, deshalb gibt es dort auch nichts Alltägliches. Aber alles was auf den Tisch kommt -und wir hatten zu Dritt einiges ausprobiert- ist wirklich einzigartig, geschmacklich wie auch optisch. Auf jeden Fall einen -oder gerne auch mehrere- Besuch/e wert. Auch die Servicemitarbeiter/ innen waren sehr freundlich und haben uns anfangs geholfen, uns auf der Karte "zu recht zu finden ". Vielen Dank auch nochmals für diese Unterstützung bei der Auswahl. Insgesamt hatten wir dort einen sehr außergewöhnlichen kulinarischen Abend verbracht.

Helt fantastisk kveld. Svært blid og trivelig betjening, utrolig god mat og overkommelige priser. Anbefales på det varmeste! Vi bestilte "overraskelses-rett", det var en svært positiv opplevelse. Bestill bord på forhånd, dette stedet blir av naturlige årsaker fullt. Maksimal gruppestørrelse 8 personer.

Our server was very helpful. I have severe allergies and the restaurant manager Sander came over as soon as he was aware of my allergies and carefully reviewed options with me. He checked everything with the kitchen to ensure a safe experience. Drinks took a bit longer than expected but they were fabulous! Food was outstanding!!! So unique and absolutely delicious. Sander double checked to ensure everything came out safely. We loved the personal interaction with our servers. Food was very eclectic and upscale. Unique and delicious summer menu selections. Cocktails were interesting and delicious. The atmosphere is upscale and very interesting with unique art. Such a wonderful expression of creativity and a fabulous, highly recommended epicurean experience!

We ate here on the 25 and everything was a 5 star especially the Sauerbraten! Unfortunately, we came the next nite so excited to experience the same 5 stars but the Sauerbraten must have been made with a different meat, it was nothing like the first nite. Service was still great!! I would still highly recommend! January

A nice idea to offer German standards in tapas form as snacks. If I were a Berlin tourist, the concept would really appeal to me. Simply taste things you've heard about, share them and also try two or three other dishes. As a Berliner, I say it's okay, but I wouldn't necessarily come back. You can get the authentic currywurst on every corner, the sauerbraten was really not that special (not sour enough, pieces too big). On the other hand, the Königsberg ones were really good, as was the housewife-style matjes. If friends (from abroad) ask me for a tip, I will mention the restaurant. The service was absolutely very good.

Is there such a thing as high-end German cuisine? If this is the case, it is not justified by the quality of the food and its preparation in relation to the high cost. Let's say it differently: if you find a good pub with quality dishes you eat better, or just as much, but at the prices of the pub. The fact is that a good Italian palate, accustomed to cooking, may be curious but is unlikely to be surprised by dishes that fail to have the dignity of a fine restaurant. It's worth the experience just to understand this.

This place feels more tourist trap than trying to do something special. We sat outside which was a nice vibe. Service was good from staff who knew what they were doing — happily tipped. But the Food was very average. It was all okay but nothing I’d describe as in any way elevated or fancy versions of German dishes — I’ve eaten better bratwurst from a foodstand. I think what bothered me the most is their wine by the glass selection was tiny and very average. If you want to show off the best of German food and drink then let people try German wines. It’s so old fashioned to have all the good wine by the bottle and have a few average ‘red or white’ by the glass. To their credit, they were attentive and delivered as per their menu, but just an underwhelming menu and approach.

We were here for the third time today and were very impressed again. We really enjoyed every course. The service is as professional as it is friendly and definitely not easy going 😉 We'll definitely come back!

I loved everything about this restaurant, especially the paintings that were painted by the owner's grandfather. The food & wine were excellent (thanks to a staff recommendation) and the music was great as well.

This place sells German food in tapas format. Of all the restaurants I visited while living in Germany, the service was the best and the food was delicious. This is a restaurant I want to visit again the next time I come to Berlin.

My favorite German restaurant in Berlin

We were there yesterday as part of a city trip. This restaurant is the best I have ever experienced in all areas. The friendly and equally attentive nature of the staff is second to none. Without exception, all dishes were top. 5 stars are not enough for this pearl of gastronomy. Thanks that you exist

Perfect little place to get some nice quality German food with a bit of a Tapas angle! Highly recommend to try, the servers were super nice ❤️ (Hi Paul…!) One downside, we sat outside and the terrace was pretty loud, since it's next to the street. The smokers at the next table didn't help 😬

Such a nice surprise in the otherwise gastronomically rather dingy Torstrasse! Top quality, top service and the ambience is tasteful. Plus it's artistically sophisticated and authentic! 5 stars for this great place.

The concept here is German food, tapas style, and it is expertly executed. We did not have a bad dish here. We got to taste multiple traditional German dishes, but in snack sized servings. The food is absolutely first rate, beautifully presented and with Excellant friendly service. I would highly recommend Peter Paul.

I don't know the last time we were greeted so warmly. The food ? So high quality. The taste was amazing, it reminded me of the last time I was able to enjoy my grandma's cooking in 15 years 🥰.
