PELLORUS Restaurant & Café am Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig

That was totally unacceptable!!! The two of us went there for dinner on the recommendation of friends, which sounded really great. At first, we were immediately assigned one of the tables (the restaurant really wasn't full - a maximum of five other tables were occupied and already served). Then it all started with the ordering: When we asked if we could have something else on the large plate instead of liver, we were immediately told that it would cost more. After the waitress consulted with the person in charge, we were told that a bifteki would cost an additional 10 euros (which would have been a 50% surcharge on the price of the platter) - other things like more gyros, souvlaki, and skewers were included in the price. We ordered more gyros and a skewer. When the food arrived, the gyro was the same size on both plates, and one plate had a bifteki on it – clearly nothing had been eaten... The flavor also needed some seasoning. I was really disappointed after the good recommendation and definitely won't recommend this place to anyone!!!

First of all: The food tastes very good, the chef is exceptionally nice, the ambiance is pleasant. The food and drinks arrived quickly. The salad was okay, the dressing was great, a bit lacking... Unfortunately, a few more negative points: The portions are comparatively small, especially for the prices. I find it very difficult to justify this with the (good) quality. A few olives for that price? Four drops of yogurt for THAT price?!??! Sorry, no, that's simply not possible! We came as a couple and left with a three-figure tip. And the icing on the cake... no ouzo as a farewell. (!?!?!????) Oh well, that really bothered me and completely ruined my overall impression. I was still annoyed about it the next day. I certainly won't be coming back, good food and a nice chef notwithstanding. Others simply do it better, much more affordably. Addendum: I read in other reviews that they didn't give us much attention. We also had to actively ask for more supplies repeatedly. The staff was friendly, but... boss, surely this could be better?!

Carefully translate the description of the dish. Otherwise, you might end up ordering expensive minced meat balls (terrible taste and unlikely to have much meat in them) bought at the nearest REWE. The tea is very tasty, but not cheap (around 5-6 euros). Those in the know, perhaps the locals here ordered croutons with eggs. 2 teas with these minced meat balls cost 70 euros. I once accidentally bought them at Rewe for 10 euros. They taste exactly like in the restaurant(((((.

Not your typical Greek restaurant... The portions are definitely smaller than others, but the price is disproportionately high. Sorry, but we urgently need to adjust this in terms of price/performance/variety and taste...

Food was good. Unfortunately, the service was pathetic; there were maybe five tables in use in the entire restaurant. Yet we were barely served; we were left sitting on the dry ground. Even after the meal, the tables took ages to clear. Price was reasonable. There was no ouzo. If the waiters were up for it, it would be a nice restaurant.

The restaurant is located right next to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, with a view of it. I had a delicious gyro. Unfortunately, there was no ouzo after the meal, as is usually the case at a Greek restaurant.

The staff barely paid us any attention. We arrived around 4 p.m. The waiter wanted to take our order, even though we still didn't have a menu to choose from after 30 minutes. So, it's better to go to Plagwitz, Schleußig, or Südvorstadt, where the atmosphere is more pleasant.

We won't be back. Even though there were at least three waiters on duty (and they were watching us) and the restaurant was only about a third full, we waited almost an hour for two appetizers (tzatziki and baked feta). It took half an hour for our two drinks. Guests at the neighboring table also complained because they got their food before their drinks – service is a flop! Unfortunately, we can't recommend it to anyone.

Worst garlic bread I've ever eaten at a Greek restaurant (dry and hard) and where was the uzo??? Unfortunately they didn't have any.

We've visited the restaurant several times and have always received excellent service. The ambiance is very modern, unlike many other Greek restaurants. The large terrace is highly recommended when the weather's nice.

We ate here with our dogs and were very pleased with the gentleman at the entrance. He showed us quiet spots—as much as possible. It was really busy that day. Our dogs aren't very stress-resistant, and we wanted to get some exercise in. The food was very good, and the overall service was perfect. We highly recommend the restaurant.

I can't recommend this place at all. Disappointing. I ordered hake. It was served later than the other guests. It wasn't hake, but a different fish. It was a child's portion.

The hotel is very nice, the staff friendly and always helpful. Since I have hay fever and the air conditioning in the room wasn't adjustable (it's controlled by the outside temperature, at least that's what one employee said), we were forced to open the window at night. This caused me to cough and sting my eyes. Unfortunately, we had to leave early because of this. Recommended, YES, for someone who doesn't have allergies. The food is good, breakfast is extensive and very tasty. Staff 👍

Been there for the umpteenth time, my German main waiter greeted us very friendly and then... meat of the gyro was so-so... & A DRINK and then: had the menu brought, checked and presented openly on the table & glasses also visibly empty!!!!! no more service, no questions, etc. Sales don't seem to matter and the guest is unimportant!!!!!! Other reviews also criticize the service, why isn't it finally getting better? Poor quality but friendly service

Part of the order arrived quickly, but unfortunately the rest of the order didn't arrive at all. There wasn't much going on. After 45 minutes of waiting we left.

Had a spontaneous meal here yesterday after looking at the Battle of the Nations Monument. We were warmly welcomed and got a table. The food was great and the service was very attentive.

We came across the restaurant by chance and wanted something small to eat and drink. The drinks were very tasty, the garlic bread (4 slices) was quite hard, you could hardly bite it, it was more like bread chips, and you didn't really feel welcome and were constantly under observation. The pellorus has diminished a lot. Certain dishes are no longer offered and for the money, there is so little on the plate. When I compare that to the other two Greeks, there is a world of difference. Aperol is only diluted with lots of ice cubes. I think we won't go there anymore

Sorry, but that was completely unacceptable. We had a reservation for 10 people. The drinks menu arrived after 70 minutes, and everyone was wearing jackets because the draft was so bad. The fish was still raw. The staff gave us nothing but strange answers. And after waiting 2.5 hours, the bill included items we hadn't ordered. Everything just went wrong.

The food was mediocre and there was no ouzo before or after the meal! It doesn't work that way! ☝🏻 And then we were deducted one euro each for a children's portion, but the salad was left out and the size of the meal was halved. Then enjoy your gyros for €16, you 6-year-old child! We find it a bit embarrassing!

We were poorly served. The staff was very inattentive and didn't ask if you wanted to order anything else. Even when we asked for a menu for desserts, the menu came but then no one asked for an hour if we wanted to order. We then had to go to the counter and pay there because no staff came and left. When asked, they said "we're open again for the first day today" If things go so badly on the first day...

Nicely located, right next to the Battle of the Nations Monument in the park opposite, so it's nice and green. Service was friendly, unobtrusive, the service only had to wag after the meal, which wasn't a big deal. Good, tasty non-alcoholic cocktail, unfortunately with a lot of ice, which is quite normal. Tomato soup with a dollop of cream where you had to look for the herbs or there were none available. A rather bland taste experience. Salad with hake on top. Hake was good, well fried and seasoned. The salad, however, was a disaster, it was dressed with yogurt sauce, a rather poor quality of green lettuce, and very pale tomatoes that would probably have been better used for tossing. What wasn't good at all was the price/performance ratio, so paying €31.40 or €31.60 for a salad, tomato soup, a non-alcoholic mojito and tonic water is a bit of a cheek.

We like to come here often and again and again. If you want to eat typical Greek food, you're in good hands here. Ambiance fits, surroundings fit. A short walk between meals or climbing the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, all on your doorstep. Worth mentioning: extremely friendly, committed staff. Always happy.

Mid-February visit of 6 people for lunch: Very cold and drafty room, we were freezing for 2 hours. The food was plentiful but not necessarily very tasty. Quality of meat questionable. We were able to take leftovers home with us. Not a typical Greek character like you know from other restaurants in DE. The only Greek restaurant in my life where there was no ouzo as a greeting or farewell. Plates were cleared quickly, but the many empty glasses were overlooked for a long time and no dessert or coffee etc. were offered. Extremely rough, rigid toilet paper. But I imagine it would be nice to sit on the terrace in summer. Drink selection is great. Maybe the team wasn't having a good day. We'll try again in the summer.

Since we always enjoyed visiting the restaurant, we reserved a table for Valentine's Day: The food was tastier and richer in the past. After 1.5 hours we were asked to leave the table because it was needed for other waiting guests. Why reserve a table when we have this one? Have to leave after 1.5 hours? The restaurant will have to do without us for the next while!

The service is very unpleasant or intrusive and not at all attentive... but very ambiguous! Completely out of place! The side dish for the main course was simply changed without asking or giving notice. Who doesn't want boiled potatoes instead of fries with their gyros... (not possible at all in my opinion) Portion very small. The taste is okay but there are really better Greek restaurants nearby!! Unfortunately I won't be coming back!

No ouzo and the gyros were served without tzatziki - you can do that, it just has nothing to do with the classic Greek. In terms of taste, it was lower midfield, so there is no repeat and no recommendation.

A Greek without a round of ouzo? I find it very unusual, the food was ok so far. From my point of view, the garlic bread missed the garlic. Unfortunately, on the whole there are better ones in Leipzig.

We were guests at the Pellorus restaurant last Friday and were very satisfied. We really liked the "upscale" atmosphere, the staff was friendly, quick and courteous. The focus was of course on the food and here the kitchen managed to take Greek food to a new level for us. We can recommend this restaurant without hesitation, the food is definitely worth the price.

There were a lot of us (20-30 people) and we ordered a lot. Some have left, the others have stayed. In the end, the remaining guests paid in turn. WITH tip. Unfortunately, it turned out that someone had left without paying. (Happened!) But they implicitly tried to talk to our conscience... In order not to ruin the beautiful atmosphere, those who remained decided to pay the missing sum together. In my opinion, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! According to the law, it is the duty of the staff to "remember" what the guest ordered, who paid and who did not.

Esto es un poco fuera de la ciudad, pero vale la pena un viaje. Tranquilo en el tranvía. Amplio, muy limpio, excelente personal ofrece un buen comienzo. La cerveza es excelente y la comida también. Gyros muy recomendable. Paramos a tomar una cerveza después de una visita al Panómetro, otra excelente parada, e hicimos un viaje especialmente para comer. Debe estar bien.

A restaurant in the middle of the Völkerschacht monument. The ambience is very nice, a little Greek, but also tailored to the Battle of the Nations. The service was a little overzealous. You don't have to stand at the table every 2 minutes because of every empty plate, that leads to unrest. Unfortunately the souvlaki skewer wasn't cooked through. When it comes to pork, I find this more worrying. The starter and dessert, however, were fantastic. All around a solid restaurant with room for improvement.

I was just in the restaurant for a business coffee. The restaurant is very clean, the waitresses and waiters are very friendly. Due to the size and spatial conditions, it is incredibly loud.

The food tasted good but the tzatziki was a mess and somehow lacked the typical taste. Value for money was definitely good. In order to feel really comfortable and welcome, we would have enjoyed the typical ouzo at the end, like in other hospitable restaurants. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant afternoon with good food.

The food itself was very tasty and the waiting times weren't that long. However, the typical gestures of a Greek restaurant are missing. There is no starter salad, no ouzo before or after. But there is also no water with espresso, for example. The ambience is also very loud because it IS a very hall-like building. In addition to the good food, there are also the little things that, in my opinion, should not be missing from a Greek restaurant.

Were there for my mother's 60th birthday. Very nice service, the only thing about it is that people are left a little left behind when it comes to ordering, otherwise very nice and flexible, we were also able to bring decorations for the table which they then put on it.
