PELLORUS Restaurant & Café am Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig

We were guests at the Pellorus restaurant last Friday and were very satisfied. We really liked the "upscale" atmosphere, the staff was friendly, quick and courteous. The focus was of course on the food and here the kitchen managed to take Greek food to a new level for us. We can recommend this restaurant without hesitation, the food is definitely worth the price.

There were a lot of us (20-30 people) and we ordered a lot. Some have left, the others have stayed. In the end, the remaining guests paid in turn. WITH tip. Unfortunately, it turned out that someone had left without paying. (Happened!) But they implicitly tried to talk to our conscience... In order not to ruin the beautiful atmosphere, those who remained decided to pay the missing sum together. In my opinion, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! According to the law, it is the duty of the staff to "remember" what the guest ordered, who paid and who did not.

Esto es un poco fuera de la ciudad, pero vale la pena un viaje. Tranquilo en el tranvía. Amplio, muy limpio, excelente personal ofrece un buen comienzo. La cerveza es excelente y la comida también. Gyros muy recomendable. Paramos a tomar una cerveza después de una visita al Panómetro, otra excelente parada, e hicimos un viaje especialmente para comer. Debe estar bien.

I was just in the restaurant for a business coffee. The restaurant is very clean, the waitresses and waiters are very friendly. Due to the size and spatial conditions, it is incredibly loud.

A restaurant in the middle of the Völkerschacht monument. The ambience is very nice, a little Greek, but also tailored to the Battle of the Nations. The service was a little overzealous. You don't have to stand at the table every 2 minutes because of every empty plate, that leads to unrest. Unfortunately the souvlaki skewer wasn't cooked through. When it comes to pork, I find this more worrying. The starter and dessert, however, were fantastic. All around a solid restaurant with room for improvement.

Except for the salad before the main course, everything was very tasty and good. Nice service and good atmosphere, but not very Greek in style.

We went to the Greek restaurant for the first time today, although there was some Greek decoration missing inside. The service was quick and very friendly! The food tasted good but the tzatziki was a mess and somehow lacked the typical taste. Value for money was definitely good. In order to feel really comfortable and welcome, we would have enjoyed the typical ouzo at the end, like in other hospitable restaurants. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant afternoon with good food.

A great restaurant, right next to the Battle of the Nations Monument. You should definitely reserve in advance for the inside, we wanted to sit outside and we could do without it. Very nice staff, fast service and delicious food, what more could you want. 😀

Food works, gyros taste good, unfortunately atypical without ouzo on the house. There is a relatively long wait and if you turn a blind eye you can forgive the mixed up food.

Food is good, relatively small selection. Prices are also reasonable and the waiters are always very friendly. Toilets are very dirty. There is no separate smoking area in summer, so the food tends to taste like an ashtray.

Decent good food with very friendly service. It's also nice that there is enough space on the terrace and that it can be covered over in bad weather. So no “need to escape” inside. The prices are reasonable, we would even say rather inexpensive. Parking lot at Völki perfectly located and free. We (aalenaa Yoga Team Leipzig) would love to go there again.

The atmosphere has something of a train station hall! When it's full you can hardly have a conversation because it's so loud. And the furniture is dirty see photo of my chair. The food is good even if the menu is very clear. Oh, and if you think there's an ouzo on the house like everyone else, you're wrong. Conclusion, there are plenty of better alternatives

Went to the restaurant spontaneously for lunch on a public holiday (October 3rd) and were seated. Service and food were very good. We spontaneously made a reservation for the next evening. Very good service in the evening as well as delicious food. Gladly again.

This restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere, attentive service and very good cuisine. It is the closest and, in my opinion, the best gastronomic establishment in the area of ​​the Leizer Battle of the Nations Monument.

The food itself was very tasty and the waiting times weren't that long. However, the typical gestures of a Greek restaurant are missing. There is no starter salad, no ouzo before or after. But there is also no water with espresso, for example. The ambience is also very loud because it IS a very hall-like building. In addition to the good food, there are also the little things that, in my opinion, should not be missing from a Greek restaurant.

I was invited to this restaurant by my family for my birthday. Our table was very nicely set, the staff was extremely friendly and the food was very good. I would definitely come again. We also had my 2 year old granddaughter with us - very child friendly 👍

Were there for my mother's 60th birthday. Very nice service, the only thing about it is that people are left a little left behind when it comes to ordering, otherwise very nice and flexible, we were also able to bring decorations for the table which they then put on it. Food was super tasty and excellent. The ambience was very nice, the darker it got, the light was adjusted. In any case, it is recommended!

Very bad service from the waitress. Although it was very sparsely attended at lunchtime, I had to wait a long time and have to make myself aware several times that a waitress was arriving! It was more like self-service, only the table would be cleared at the end if you didn't do it yourself!

We had made reservations for 10 people on a Monday evening. Because the weather permitted, we were given a table outside. All orders came relatively quickly and the food was very tasty. We will come back soon.

It's nice to sit outside. We were served by 4 or 5 different waiters - I personally don't like it. Everyone was nice, but I would prefer just one responsible contact person. My food came in a reasonable time. I wanted to eat with my companion, so I waited for some time. When the second meal still wasn't there after 5 minutes, I started. After I was almost finished, we were finally able to speak to a waiter and ask about the second meal. It was forgotten, they apologized nicely and it was delivered relatively quickly. So we watched each other eat. The taste was ok, the quantity was sufficient, but the price was a bit too high for this quantity. The menu is very limited compared to other Greeks. And: unfortunately the toilets are not in the best condition.

Man könnte aus der Gaststätte was machen, wenn man wollte. Aber so.... Essen kam sehr schnell (zu schnell) der Salat von mir und meiner Frau wurde genauso behandelt wie die zwei Salate am Nebentisch: er wurde zurück gegeben. Er sah aus wie ein Salat aus einer Salattüte obendrauf verziert mit einem Klecks Soße, etwas Karotten und Zwiebel. Der eigentliche Salat war unansehnlich, alt, gammlig. Deshalb ging er ungegessen zurück. Die Bedienung wurde darauf hingewiesen, keine Entschuldigung nur Schulterzucken.... Zanderfilet war in Ordnung, Gyros ala Fournou war versalzen. Ambiente wäre sonst schön.

We were there in the early afternoon and sat on the terrace. The food was really tasty, the portions were big enough. The staff is very friendly and attentive. All of this at reasonable prices. Only the location, near the main road, isn't that great, but it's not really a problem either. It's still nice to sit in the green. And something is done immediately and effectively against intrusive flies. Clear recommendation.

We held our silver wedding anniversary party for 32 people in the open air at Pellorus. The food was great, especially the gyros were very tender. Despite our excitement, the staff remained calm and very attentive. Always happy to go there!!!

Our order was taken incorrectly, then the main course came before the starter, the food was only lukewarm, and the bill was also wrong. There was no ouzo either. So we know Greek restaurants differently. Unfortunately I can't recommend it any further.

May 29, 2022 Wow, what can I say. I haven't eaten so well at a Greek restaurant in a long time. There were 4 pieces as a starter. Grilled pepperoni, baked feta, garlic bread and an extra portion of tzatziki. All 4 starters were impeccably delicious. The tzatziki was very well made, the feta was well breaded with a side salad, the pepperoni gratinated with garlic was simply delicious and the garlic bread was like garlic bread should be. The main course was the classic gyros, where you immediately noticed that not all gyros are the same. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this one. Well grilled, hardly any fat and no gristle whatsoever, as you would find in some other restaurants. The tomato rice was good, not a bit watery and the fries were just fries. The rump steak was more than perfect. Still slightly pink on the inside, seasoned with salt and pepper and topped with a piece of herb butter. There was also rosemary potatoes with small drops of pesto as a side dish. The combination is simply delicious. The main courses included a small salad variation with a delicious dressing. Drinks included a Diesel and a Radler. I found both a bit weak and not so lively. The carbonation was a little lacking. Biggest negative point: I thought it was a shame that the food quickly filled me up because I would have liked to continue eating. 🤣 No, I really have nothing to complain about. The staff were very friendly and always asked if everything was satisfactory. Class. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Inside, the restaurant looks very modern and is not reminiscent of a typical Greek restaurant with statues, old-fashioned interiors or the same music playing from the speakers. The restaurant also looks great on the outside. Located directly at the Battle of the Nations Monument in a park, it is a perfect excursion destination. It's green all around and the park is perfect for a walk after your meal. My conclusion. A great restaurant, with a very service-oriented staff, in a great location with great Greek dishes at reasonable prices. You will see me there often.

The best Greek cuisine in Leipzig!

Unfortunately disappointing, the food only came after almost 1.5 hours and the drinks we ordered didn't come, but were charged for.

Everything was great and highly recommended.

Portions very small, for the price.....quite nice without vegetables and salad. Spaghetti overcooked....you should stop by the Greek restaurant in Bad Lausick and take a course there...never again

Large covered patio, but too many tables. The chairs would be more comfortable with cushions. Service was ok. Portions were very clear. There were six of us and even our pensioners, who always eat very little, weren't really full. A double portion wasn't really huge, but at least it was more than ours. There are many Greek restaurants in Leipzig, but they are all better.

A nice restaurant where you can sit relaxed and enjoy great, delicious food

It was school day on August 3rd, 2024 and we were the first to arrive at the restaurant. Some time after us, 3 or 4 school starters arrived with their families. We were able to order the drinks and food very promptly. The drinks came to the table very quickly and the appetizers we ordered also arrived quite quickly. And then it was time to practice patience. We didn't see a waiter for a while. Food was brought to one table after another, and drink orders were also taken and delivered quickly. Current guests were also served very promptly. After more than an hour we asked when our food would come, the answer was a shrug of the shoulders and a stammered "Sorry", you see what's going on here!" Okay!? After another 15 minutes our food finally arrived Food was quite tasty, but there were also complaints, such as liver that was still bloody, food number 87, and meat that was not cooked through, souvlaki. Even after the meal, our table received very little attention Unfortunately, it was a big downer because our seats and one other person had been pre-booked, so the restaurant could have been prepared for that. It's definitely better with normal public traffic and I'll recommend the restaurant to others , but with a larger company????

Highly processed foods in lots of oil and extra thick cheese on top. A gyros (well dried...) without tzatziki. We stopped here after visiting the Monument to the Battle of the Nations and guessed which nation's cuisine was the inspiration for our planned snack order. We actually couldn't think of Greek for this. An astonishingly sad surprise, a shame. Oh yes, important: if you come here with smaller children, you shouldn't forget painting supplies or small toys so that the waiting time is child-friendly.

The waitress only came to our table once to take the first order and drinks. We had to organize every additional drink ourselves, because of heavy rain we stayed longer, otherwise we would have left straight away. At the next table there were several ladies who were obviously more valuable than us. Each time they poured the wine again and asked them if everything was okay, which didn't happen once for us in 3-4 hours. After paying, the waitress apologized to us about her waiters, because they were probably not on task and were understaffed. Rating 0/5 Ambience The ambience was very nice with a view of the Battle of the Nations Monument. Not to forget the people who enjoy their drinks nearby and then do their business at a bush in front of the guests. Rating 3/5 Conclusion The restaurant has a nice location. Unfortunately, the restaurant shouldn't offer poor quality at the expense of others when it could probably be better. If there are no staff or they are too incompetent, you should consider closing the restaurant for a short time and opening it on another day. I will not recommend the restaurant and will visit it again. Overall 2/5

The outdoor area is really very nice. You sit near the Battle of the Nations Monument in the middle of a meadow. The nearby street is hardly a problem. The food is delicious and not too expensive compared to other restaurants. However, if you expect the typical flair of a "Greek", you're wrong here. The service isn't particularly friendly and there isn't the obligatory ouzo as a welcome. Furthermore, the “grilled pepperoni” appetizer is not recommended. In the photo, most of it hadn't already been eaten, no, it came to the table that way. Clearly not enough for €7.90. Overall, not a bad restaurant but not a typical Greek restaurant.

EINFACH UNVERSCHÄMT Wir wurden nach einer halben Stunde Wartezeit, immer noch nicht bedient. Es waren noch ca. 15 Gaste im Lokal. Davon war eine Gruppe von 10 Personen schon fertig mit Essen. wir haben zwei mal auf uns aufmerksam gemacht. Dann sind wir ohne Essen und Trinken wieder gegangen.

Hello 🌍 Our visit to the Pellorus restaurant went well. We came spontaneously and got a table straight away. It is very comfortable to sit in the winter garden, each table has plenty of space. (We had a table for 6). I ordered bruschetta and the halloumi salad. For me as a vegetarian, the selection of vegetarian dishes was completely sufficient. The service staff were all incredibly courteous, attentive and the food came super quickly. The portions are very pleasant, the food is perfect. The halloumi salad was fantastic. Absolutely recommended for an upscale restaurant visit.

It's nice to sit in the large outdoor area with a view of the countryside and the Battle of the Nations Monument. Fast service, food came very quickly too. Delicious homemade lemonades. The salad works better as a side dish on the plate. There was a lot of stalk and no love, there was no dressing either.

There were 4 of us here and we were looking forward to a lovely Greek evening. The ambience is appropriate due to the outdoor terrace. Unfortunately the price is above average. You won't find a round of ouzo here, we had a whopping €18 on the bill. Things like this are much better with other Greeks. Our order was also forgotten and just smiled away. It's a shame, there's potential.

Even though we only arrived shortly before closing time, the handsome waiter served us in a friendly manner, gave us advice and cut grapefruit. We recommend! ^^

First of all you have to praise the staff extremely, it was all hell breaking loose and the service really did everything they could and apologized many times. Not everyone makes such an effort. But even if this is the case, we still waited endlessly for everything, the cold drinks weren't cold, there were no ice cubes and the food took a long time and the wrong food came. The taste is ok, but a little lacking in pizzazz. I hope it was because the kitchen was overwhelmed. I'll try it again.

The Greek Pellorus reminds me of Kos. You sit in the most beautiful ambience right in the countryside at the foot of the Battle of the Nations Monument. We were warmly welcomed. And we were served food even though the kitchen wasn't actually open yet! The appetizer platter for two people and garlic bread that were delivered were both like in Greece. I can't tell the difference!?! I would recommend everyone to go here and I think we will come back if the opportunity arises.
