Pre made gyros - definitely not worth it

Affordable lunch menu. Dishes under €10 with salad, soup, and free ouzo. I had gyros topped with fries. The Metaxa sauce was truly delicious, and the fries were crispy and perfectly salted. The service is fast and very friendly. Empty plates are cleared immediately, and the table is beautifully set. The interior is clean and decorated in the style of the restaurant. I think it's a little insider tip for a good, hearty, and affordable lunch. ☺️

We have been a regular guest for many years and have had a new lunch menu since August 1st, 2025. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair.

I know Greek restaurants where everything is just right and you end up overeating. We were asked shortly before eating if we'd gotten our salad yet. Then the salad arrived, followed immediately by the food. Both were on the table. The salad was pretty good. The food was very simple (meat skewer with fries and tzatziki). But that was just on the plate. Not a single olive, onion, or lettuce leaf was to be seen! I wasn't used to it from a Greek restaurant. The ouzo was only served after paying. The prices are certainly reasonable for the location, but I wouldn't eat there again. Mind you, it was pretty empty, so it can't be due to a lack of staff.

Wonderful atmosphere, food and service.

We love Greek food. This restaurant is highly recommended. In addition to an outdoor area, it also has an accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible restroom. The interior design is very nice and appealing. Only the dead flies in the lamps above the tables were a bit unappealing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and arrived very quickly. We will definitely be back.

Since the weather was nice, we sat outside. Everything was wheelchair accessible, and despite a rather bulky wheelchair, there was enough room for everyone. The waiters were super friendly, the food was delicious, and so was the ouzo. I heard about banana beer there for the first time, and I ordered one. Absolutely delicious! Best Greek restaurant in Leipzig. The pictures show the gyro with garlic potatoes, the calamari with garlic potatoes, and the banana beer. Highly recommended!

We've been here several times now. Cutlery, dishes, and glasses are all clean (even the restrooms were clean), friendly service, and drinks and food arrive without long waits. The portion sizes are generous, and you'll be filling. There's also a children's menu. Last time I visited, I opted for a grilled chicken breast stuffed with spinach and feta cheese and a mushroom sauce. It was served with tomato rice. A delight! The ambiance is upscale and beautifully decorated with the illuminated "fine drops" (spirits). The seating areas and chairs were also very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised that the location and ambiance weren't reflected in the bill. The total price for four people was comparable to other Greek restaurants (e.g., on the outskirts of town).

Very good, nothing to complain about, just one tip: a bit more Mediterranean spice. It shows what Greece tastes like. But everything was good. The portions were decent. I like it and will definitely come back.

We went there for dinner with two adults and two children. We had to ask the staff to clean the dirty table. Afterwards, we saw that all the other tables were also very dirty! Our order was taken very quickly, even though we weren't in a hurry. The main course was already being pushed onto the table while the appetizer was still being served! The food was almost cold, despite the lack of business. The side salad resembled a rabbit food mix in terms of presentation. The taste was a bit bland, but OK. We won't be visiting this restaurant again!

Okay, it's right in the center. You can't expect a Greek idyll, but this is just a mass-produced restaurant. The meat is dark, whether it's chicken or gyro, and the ouzo will burn your throat.

Unfortunately, my visit didn't impress me. The food was okay, but the fries were very bland. The service seemed attentive, but didn't convey a "welcome" feel, at least not to my eyes.

First, the positive: the food was very tasty. The service and friendliness could be improved. We were repeatedly told that someone would come right away for drinks. Instead of rice, they served us fries (no big deal, they tasted good too), but when we wanted to pay (almost €100) and only gave us a €2 tip, the waiter slammed the money down on the table and said it wasn't enough for his service, and gave us the €2 back. I think that's a shame, the reaction. The food was really good, but we won't be coming back because of the hospitality.

A very nicely decorated restaurant with super comfortable seating inside. The food was fantastic, and the service was very friendly and attentive. Our dog was also warmly welcomed. After two days in Leipzig, the best meal ever!

What can we say about our strange experience at this restaurant to give a realistic assessment? We went to this restaurant with a group of about 25 people with a reservation. Most of the numerous outdoor seating had already been taken, and the indoor seating was largely empty by the time we arrived, except for another group of about 12 people. We were looking forward to fast service and good food, especially since this restaurant had been recommended to us and we knew some passionate Greek food lovers among us. We were bitterly disappointed. The food was okay, but didn't particularly impress customers. However, the food was a bit too small; even the children were quite full with their standard meals (not the children's portion), even though there should usually be quite a bit of leftovers. Furthermore, I think eight euros for a bottle of still water is significantly excessive. The service and management of the group were downright disastrous. While one half of the group had already finished their main course and appetizers (!!!), the other half was still waiting for their appetizer. No one came to ask if everything was okay or if there were any other requests. Twice, staff were sent from the already full part of the group to the other part of the group, hoping to get an explanation as to when the food would arrive. Nor was the problem with this long delay explained. There couldn't have been too many guests, as, as mentioned above, many of the other guests in the restaurant had already been served. To clarify: The staff knew who was in our group and who wasn't. The degrading feeling of being forgotten inevitably set in. After waiting for over an hour, which was great (especially) for hungry teenagers, children, and their parents, the food finally arrived for the second part of the group. Unfortunately, some of the food was incorrect or the order wasn't taken correctly. When we asked the staff, our waiter became rude and said they should have said something, which the guest had said before, but the waiter pretended not to hear. No remedy was offered, so the guests just ate their food to avoid having to wait any longer. No apology was offered either, which would have been the least we could do. We absolutely cannot recommend the restaurant. A professional restaurant operates differently and better. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend the restaurant in this manner.

Great service and delicious food. There's a lovely large terrace, which the staff really manage. Everyone was friendly, orders came quickly, portions were generous, and the food tasted good. The obligatory ouzo was also included. The restrooms were clean. I would come back.

There were two of us. Great Greeks in the heart of Leipzig. Food was top, service was friendly. Ambiance absolutely suitable

We were there for lunch. The food was tasty and sufficient, although one of our dishes was charged an extra charge of €5 for changing it to chicken gyros instead of normal pork gyros. That was out of proportion for us. How should one be able to justify this? We only noticed it because we ordered the same dishes, only one with pork gyros and one with chicken gyros. The waiter also gave the impression that he wasn't having the best day. Due to the already higher price range, such things are even more noticeable and should normally not be a problem.

We sat outside in the sun, the service was great and very friendly, not a long wait, the souflakia (No.72) was very tender and deliciously seasoned, the veal liver (No.76) melted in the mouth, plus the garlic potatoes, it was something different and also delicious 😋. All recommended 👍

Great place to have dinner! There are many options in the menu that looks very tasty, it was even hard to choose. I ordered some seafood and it was perfect! The staff is nice and friendly and the place is also very beautiful. I highly recommend.

I recently ate at this Greek restaurant. I had the chicken with butter rice for €17.90 - a price that unfortunately wasn't entirely justified given the quality on offer. The chicken was okay, but the taste was rather average and without any special seasoning or sophistication. The butter rice was solid, but the butter vegetables served with it seemed like a ready-made product from a package - a shame, as you could have certainly gotten more out of it with fresh ingredients. Overall the visit was okay, but considering the price I expected more.

I have rarely enjoyed such good, high-quality Greek food! Absolute recommendation. Both service, ambience and atmosphere are a 10/10.

Absolutely recommended! The food is super tasty and the service is great. Unfortunately, we were turned away from the restaurant we had originally reserved (for reasons that I don't need to go into here) and so we came across this restaurant by chance. We briefly described our situation and everything was made possible to give us (6 people) a table. Of course the restaurant was completely full on Saturday evening, but we still had all the drinks within 5 minutes. The starters also followed quickly and our main courses arrived after less than half an hour! It couldn't be better! All dishes were really delicious! We'll definitely be back.

Centrally located and, despite its size, a very nice, cozy restaurant with great furnishings and different areas. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The service was courteous and friendly. If I lived in Leipzig, I would probably be a guest there often.

We ate here with a larger group. Food was good. Service was okay. All in all, not above average. Unfortunately, the amount of the tip is explicitly requested here and if the waiter thinks it's not enough, they'll tell you straight to your face. As a result, you think twice about going here again or maybe somewhere else. The selection is large.

Short trip Leipzig. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a spot. The food was tasty, plentiful and came very quickly. The service was OK. However, the men's toilet is very dirty. That doesn't work at all. Apparently they don't get cleaned

We were generally happy that we actually got a seat in the crowded restaurant. After a very long wait (almost 90 minutes) for our food, the waiter didn't even offer any kind of apology. The waiters kept dropping things, until finally, a tray of wine glasses landed right behind my companion's chair. My jacket was soaking wet and smelled of alcohol, which didn't stop the waitress from mopping the floor and making me feel like I was sitting in the way. Not a word of apology or asking if I might have gotten a bit of something... Then, tipsy guests sit down at the next table, and you have to put up with them, making eyes at the waitress in their drunken state and promising her a generous tip if she brings me a round or two on the house. I had a wonderful day in Leipzig that will stay with me forever, which I unfortunately can't say about my visit to this restaurant.

Very good Greek restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food came quickly, was really hot and incredibly tasty. The starter platter was very imaginative and a dream. We were also impressed by the Greek cocktails because we had never had that at a Greek restaurant. We had an all-round great evening where we didn't miss anything. When we are in Leipzig we will be happy to come back. And unfortunately I have to correct my review again a year later. Unfortunately, the appetizer platter only consisted of fatty fried zucchini and eggplant, some sheep's cheese, beans and vegetables and various spreads, Kalamata olives were replaced by cheap stuff. The gyro was gristly, cut like kebab and looked and tasted like venom brandy. The pasta pan no longer had tomato sauce but was swimming in fat. Our criticism in the local language was dismissed and not received very well, which made us feel very uncomfortable. There was probably no salad anymore, at least not for us, but at the next table there was. Only the friendly waitress deserved the tip. This increased from course to course and did nothing for our subsequent stomach problems. We don't come here anymore.

We eat here very often and have never been disappointed; no matter how busy it was, we always found a seat. The Metaxa sauce is the most delicious I've ever tasted; the octopus was crispy on the outside and very tender on the inside. This is our absolute favorite Greek restaurant in Leipzig! The service has been a disaster. The reserved table wasn't free that evening. Food came after 10 minutes (was left over from yesterday). The service is a disaster. Mass processing!

Leider war die Lammkeule verbrannt und schwamm in Öl, ein Stück Käse schwamm in diesem Öl, auf der Karte stand Lammkeule mit Käse überbacken. Die dazu gereichten Knoblauchkartoffeln trieften ebenfalls im Öl! Bei einem vorherigen Besuch war das zum Essen gereichte Brot steinhart. Die oberste Scheibe war frisch, darunterlegt das harte alte Brot und das ist wirklich nicht übertrieben! Ich bekam dann frisches Brot nachdem ich das bemängelt habe! Ich werde dort nicht mehr einkehren! Schade, aber das Ellinike kann mit manch anderen griechischen Restaurants nicht mithalten.

Valentine's Day at Elliniki? Rather not! Unfortunately, based on our last experience, we can only advise against a visit to Elliniki. The ambience from the previous owner was well taken over and slightly adapted to suit the country. The prices are still reasonable and you can easily reserve a table online. Unfortunately, we now have to come to the big negative points: In 2 hours we weren't even asked if we wanted any more drinks, despite the glasses being empty. The portions were uncharacteristically relatively small and we actually left the restaurant hungry! The quality of the octopus was okay, but a little green garnish would have been good for the whole thing. Unfortunately, the lamb chops were rather tough, the fries were almost cold and the advertised grilled vegetables were completely missing. When asked about this, we were blamed because supposedly only one side dish was served per meal. But it's not shown that way on the map. All in all disappointing and not worth repeating!
