Friendly service, authentic food, good beers and a nice ambience

We happened upon this wonderful restaurant by chance. The manager's welcome was warm. We enjoyed a wonderful Bavarian meal and a beer to match. The manager even invited us for a small schnapps; it was a wonderful experience. Thank you.

Truly delicious food and a lovely ambiance. But the best part is definitely the service. Kudos to the team!

A very nice restaurant in Wetzlar. My group visited a real German restaurant and was recommended this one. We were there on a Wednesday evening and it was packed. I ordered a schweinhaxe which tasted wonderful. My friends had schnitzel which they were also very happy with. The service was friendly and efficient. A tip. Bring cash as our Swedish and Norwegian cards did not work. Good and large beers are also offered. Will gladly return if I get the chance to visit Wetzlar again.

Here, however, you can enjoy a beautiful location with very attentive service. The food is okay, but it's a large-scale kitchen, which suits the restaurant. Overall, it's also recommended for groups.

Paulaner Wirtshaus Wetzlar – A Piece of Bavaria on the Lahn Even though, as a Bavarian, I usually avoid Bavarian inns outside of Bavaria, I have to say: you feel right at home here. The ambiance is truly perfect, along with a lovely beer garden right on the Lahn River. The Bavarian cuisine is very well executed – authentic, delicious, and with just the right portions. Combined with the cozy atmosphere, this makes for a place you'll enjoy stopping by. A true piece of Bavaria in the heart of Wetzlar – highly recommended! 🍻

It's a shame you can't give zero stars here! I came to Paulaner after a motorcycle tour to enjoy a delicious apple strudel to finish off my meal (maximum 40 minutes). I decided to sit in the waiting area. After about 10 minutes, they finally noticed and politely informed me that the table I was sitting at was reserved for about an hour and they didn't know if I'd be allowed to sit there. But the waitress promptly offered a solution: I could go to the self-service area! When I pointed out again that I wouldn't be staying long, they ignored me and referred me to the self-service area again. If I'd wanted to go to the self-service area, I would have gone straight there! So I left without apple strudel, which I find very unfortunate, as I was also planning a larger event there. Anyone who isn't willing to serve a guest apple strudel doesn't deserve a big piece of the pie. So this will be my last visit to this restaurant. What a pity.

Since the change of tenant in June, it's once again a popular spot in Wetzlar, earning full marks. A hotspot on the Lahn River with a view of the cathedral.

Highly recommended. Nice, friendly, and attentive service. We were a bus group of 40 people, pre-ordered food, and the food arrived in the restaurant after 20 minutes. Tasty and plentiful. We'd be happy to go back.

Yes. Except for parking, it has everything your heart desires. A little piece of Bavaria in central Hesse.

The best part first – you sit nicely right on the Lahn, the chairs are simple but without cushions. The staff were quick and came straight away. The drinks were OK – the draft beer was fresh and cold. There were four of us there and we had a reservation – parking wasn't easy, so we parked on the other side of the Lahn. The less pleasant part was the food. My schnitzel was overcooked in the deep fryer (very firm meat and very dark), the fried chicken was the same (very dark and very dry!!!). Only the fries were OK, the knuckle of pork was also very firm and very dark, and the bread dumpling with mushroom sauce was also very economical: 1 dumpling with mushroom sauce + salad garnish for almost €20! If that fills you up, you can't be very hungry!!! We were disappointed and won't be visiting this restaurant again!

I hate to complain, but this behavior is unacceptable. During my bike ride on Wednesday afternoon, with 33 degrees Celsius outside, I wanted to take a "quick" drink stop at Paulaner. Fully equipped with cycling gear: helmet, gloves, backpack, etc. (clearly recognizable as a biker), I just wanted a drink. I found a shady spot (at that time, two tables in the beer garden were occupied). Before I could even sit down, a "waiter" approached from 10 meters away and asked in an arrogant tone, "Do you have a reservation? How many more people are coming?" I replied, "I'll be back." That was the last time I saw this place. This kind of thing could be handled in a more "customer-friendly" way...

Great seats on the terrace with a view of the Lahn River. The food is delicious and the portions are generous.

We were out cycling and wanted something to eat. There were two areas, one with waiter service and one without. It was very confusing as to where everything was, but the food was delicious and our waiter was friendly, so you know where we sat.

We were always very satisfied with everything at the previous tenant, Wallbruch. Well, unfortunately, that's not quite as good as before with the new tenant. The food tastes good...well, still okay, but nowhere near as good as before. The service is still quite good, although all the staff are new. None of the previous employees...at least the service staff, are around anymore. What we really dislike, and will therefore unfortunately only eat there when the weather is nice, is that you're no longer allowed to bring dogs into the restaurant. We can't understand that, since it's a pub, after all, not a 5-star fancy establishment. Dogs are allowed in every pub in Bavaria...well, they should think about it.

The staff was super attentive and friendly, even to the children. The food was delicious. We were there with 6 children and 10 adults. They opened the extra room for us without any problems, as we hadn't made a reservation. . We'd be happy to go again.

Very delicious food (Wienerschnitzel with fries, Wienerschnitzel with potato/cucumber salad) and two non-alcoholic wheat beers. You sit in the shade right by the water with a great view of the cathedral and the bridge. The service was very friendly and helpful, and the food was served quickly. A wonderful destination on a summer day. We would gladly come back.

We were on a day trip to Wetzlar and ended up at this inn, which completely impressed us in every way (the food was delicious, the service behind the counter was super friendly, and it's a really nice place to sit). If we ever come back to Wetzlar, we'll definitely plan a visit to this restaurant.

Today was our first visit to Paulaner under the new management of the Hildenbrand family. Despite the restaurant being fully booked, we were served smoothly and promptly. The food was very tasty and plentiful. Nice, attentive, and very friendly staff. Even the owners lend a hand. We'd love to come back.

We were here with a larger group and ordered a variety of dishes from the buffet. It was very good, and there was something for everyone (from knuckle of pork to schnitzel). The atmosphere is great. Sitting by the Lahn River with a cold beer is certainly something special. They also have a good selection of non-alcoholic beers.

The new service staff are very friendly, the food is delicious and plentiful as always, and the freshly tapped wheat beer is the tastiest. Everything as always. Paulaner Wirtshaus in Wetzlar is and remains our number one for delicious German food.

Charming beer garden with a wonderful view of the river and the bridge. Self-service, beer was served immediately, food - about 15 minutes. We ordered schnitzel, the portion was enough for two. We liked both the beer and the food. Prices are reasonable. Pets allowed. Parking nearby.

I love it here! We come here every Sunday. The food is really great and the portions are generous. So don't let the prices put you off; the value for money is great here...although €23 on average for a main course is completely reasonable anyway. Very sharp, friendly, and above all attentive staff, who always more than deserve a tip! Toni, in particular, contributes to the fact that we keep coming back. Plus, it's a really nice location :) Edit: Most of the staff has changed due to the change of ownership, but everyone is still very friendly, attentive, and hard-working! You can tell that they care about their guests' well-being ❤ The food is consistently good, which makes us, as regular customers, happy and encourages us to come back :) The new owner is also super friendly!

Paulaner is always an excellent choice for a relaxing outing. The ambiance is typically Bavarian, warm and inviting, perfect for families, friends, or colleagues. The food on offer is authentic and delicious, from traditional beer garden dishes to hearty specialties. The highlight, of course, is the freshly tapped Paulaner beer, which tastes excellent and perfectly complements the Bavarian atmosphere. The staff is friendly and accommodating, making you feel completely at home. All in all, a great place to enjoy the beautiful nature and the waters of the Lahn, have good company, and be pampered with Bavarian culinary delights. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, in my opinion, I wouldn't recommend it. The beer was served quickly and cold. The food only arrived after a good hour and after I asked for it. And unfortunately, the meatloaf was cold. Oh well, I was hungry.

On an extended e-bike tour, the Paulaner beer garden in Wetzlar was supposed to be our break stop. One group member wanted to charge his almost empty battery. The friendly request was categorically rejected by the staff. No free power outlet... Unfriendly and unfriendly. Definitely not recommended for e-bikers! We ended up taking a break at another nice restaurant. Luckily, there are plenty of them in beautiful Wetzlar!

What can I say! 5/5 - Top quality and generous portions. Sure, the price is a bit higher, but the quality and portions are just right. Great Hessian dishes and Bavarian delicacies. The most beautiful beer garden in Wetzlar. Always happy to come back!

Five of us arrived in the evening without a reservation and were initially turned away because everything was reserved. Just as we were about to leave, the manager called out that there were still seats available. We ended up getting lovely seats on the first floor. It's a quaint Bavarian-style restaurant. The food was very good, but the portions were actually too large. The service was quick and friendly. The prices weren't cheap, but they weren't too expensive either.

Service was unqualified, food orders were delayed, and the wait was long. They were then told it was OK after asking. They were charged a €5 surcharge for fried potatoes instead of fries with their schnitzel, without mentioning this when ordering. Terrible!

Great location. I visited this place last Friday for an event. The location is ideal, and the service and quality of the food and drinks were excellent, despite the large number of visitors. It left nothing to be desired. A great place to stop and linger! I'd love to come back!

The food is great, the atmosphere in the beer garden is also great. Only some of the service staff could be a little friendlier, because the guests are the least responsible when things are more stressful...

Over *an hour of waiting for the food* even though the restaurant wasn't full - that's simply unreasonable. The *service was slow, disinterested and almost unresponsive*. Particularly cheeky: *We charged an additional fee for packing up the leftovers* - this has never happened to me in any other restaurant. Absolutely customer-unfriendly and not recommended. I definitely *won't come back* again.

Delicious, authentic Bavarian cuisine If you love down-to-earth Bavarian cuisine, you've come to the right place! The dishes are authentic, hearty and really tasty - exactly how you want them. You can tell that the cooking here is done with tradition and taste. When there are a lot of guests, the staff sometimes seems a bit stressed and not quite as welcoming, but the food makes up for a lot of it. The prices are a little higher, but still reasonable for the quality and portions. Overall, a recommended place for anyone who appreciates real Bavarian cuisine!

Rustic food, Bavarian dishes and a harmonious atmosphere. To what extent the premises represent a southern gastronomy... I have only been to one in Bavaria once. The interior is lined with heavy wooden beams, sturdy wooden tables and chairs - a cozy interior. The food and service were good, you can spend a nice evening here as a group or as a couple. This was my second time here and I would come back at any time.

Nice brewery with very friendly service, delicious food, large portions. We felt comfortable and can absolutely recommend the Paulaner Wirtshaus in Wetzlar. If possible you should make a reservation, we were there without a reservation but still got a table for 2!

After a beautiful day with my 79-year-old mother, I was there half an hour before it opened in the evening, including a parking ticket. Despite there being little occupancy in the restaurant with two people, we weren't exactly turned away in a friendly manner because we didn't have a reservation. We won't be coming back to this restaurant.

Halbe Stunde mit meiner 79-jährigen Mutter gewartet bis um 17 Uhr geöffnet wurde, inklusive gezogenem Parkticket vor Ort. Wurden enttäuschenderweise nicht gerade freundlich weggeschickt trotz leerem lokal, weil wir keine Reservierung hatten! Für zwei Personen bei leerem lokal und einem tollen Tag in der Gegend echt enttäuschend. Wir kommen nicht mehr zu diesem Restaurant!

Personal sticht hervor durch Kompetenz und Freundlichkeit. Trotz vollem Lokal kurze Wartezeiten. Essen reichlich und sehr, sehr lecker! Wir kommen immer wieder gerne!!!

We actually eat here every Sunday. The quality of the food is very good, the portions are very generous. The service is top class. Very big compliments to Toni. In summer there is a rustic beer garden outside. The Paulaner Witshaus is definitely worth a visit

Katastrophaler Abend! Trotz Reservierung war unser Tisch nicht fertig, das Personal war überfordert und sichtlich überlastet. Über eine Stunde Wartezeit auf das Essen – und dann eine SCHRAUBE darin! Statt einer Entschuldigung wurden wir beschuldigt, sie selbst hineingelegt zu haben. Respektlos und unprofessionell! Viel zu wenig Personal für die Menge an Gästen. Absolut enttäuschend – nie wieder!

Disastrous evening! Despite a reservation, our table wasn't ready, the staff was overwhelmed and visibly overworked. Over an hour of waiting for the food - and then a SCREW in it! Instead of an apology, we were accused of setting it up ourselves. Disrespectful and unprofessional! Far too few staff for the amount of guests. Absolutely disappointing - never again!

Leider nicht zu empfehlen. Das angebotene Essen kommt nach einer Stunde, wer einmal in einem Bayrischem Wirtshaus gegessen hat weis diese Qualität zu schätzen und die Wirte wissen ihre Kunden zu schätzen. Das kann man hier nicht sagen. Frisch auf den Tisch ist anders. Aufgewärmtes Essen. Wenn man vorher schon nach der Suppe fragen muss, diese dann mit dem Hauptgang serviert werden soll, rundet das ganze noch ab. ... .

We were not welcome with our dog. Without a dog, without us!

There were four people and a small dog on October 30, 2024. We had overlooked the sign at the entrance (dog crossed out). When I asked a waiter if he had a table for four people, I was rudely turned away and told that dogs were not allowed here. That's a nice unique selling point. I could endlessly list 5 star hotels where our dog was welcome. But what the heck, Paulaner can do without a good Hunni.

The restaurant we ate at yesterday was really excellent! The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, and the staff was friendly. The waiters welcomed us warmly and were always attentive. Overall it was a wonderful experience

We ate there during our vacation with our son. Even though we were there spontaneously and it was full, our food and drinks came very quickly. The employees were very friendly despite it being busy and did a great job. The food was just absolutely delicious. The portions are huge. There was also a small card for children with a little surprise for the empty plate at the end. The atmosphere was very cozy. We can highly recommend it.

Expensive! The food was good but too expensive for these portions. The self-service beer garden is just as expensive as the service restaurant and service beer garden. Both beer gardens have split stones making them difficult for walkers and wheelchairs. The restaurant is actually difficult to reach with a walker and wheelchair. Staff is friendly. Unfortunately, the boss is rarely seen by customers. And if so, you could also say hello. That doesn't actually work. As I said, not bad but 5 euros for Afri Cola or 25 euros for schnitzel with salty fries. Pretty expensive. And it's not really warm in the whole house either.

By making a reservation in advance, we were able to easily get space for ten of us. The process of ordering drinks and food went smoothly. Everything went smoothly until the end. We can only warmly recommend this location, the occupancy confirms this statement, thumbs up.
