From the moment we walked in, we felt truly welcomed. What stood out most was their willingness to accommodate dietary needs without compromising the authenticity of the dishes. As someone with lactose intolerance, I deeply appreciated their thoughtful substitution of the traditional horseradish sauce with a silky, flavorful creamy wine reduction for the Tafelspitz—an adjustment that was both considerate and delicious. The food itself was simply outstanding. The goulash was rich and hearty, with tender meat simmered to perfection in a deeply flavorful sauce. The Tafelspitz was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the wine reduction added a unique depth that complemented the dish beautifully. For dessert, the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream was a perfect finale—warm, perfectly spiced, and delightfully crisp, with the ice cream adding just the right touch of sweetness. Beyond the food, the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy German Gasthaus. The rustic decor, soft lighting, and welcoming atmosphere made it the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely meal. It’s rare to find a restaurant that excels in both hospitality and cuisine, but Paulaner truly delivers. Great service, delicious fresh food, great ambience. The drinks arrive quickly. Food comes quickly and tastes great. Bavarian. Amount of food not huge but sufficient. Service is friendly and quick. Restaurant is large and has many seats. Toilet in the basement. Prices affordable to moderate. We got a seat on Saturday evening without a reservation thanks to the friendly host. We still recommend making a reservation in advance.

Service was very friendly and we liked the ambience, but unfortunately the food wasn't convincing at all. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right here. The burger was ok, the schnitzel was dry and the fried potatoes weren't really fried.

We had a team evening at the Paulaner restaurant. The food was very good and tasted great. The service was very accommodating and polite. The atmosphere was quaint.

Had a crusty roast. Unfortunately the crust wasn't crispy. Unfortunately the dumplings were too creamy for me. Service is attentive and quick.

A really great restaurant that invites you to linger. Here you can get delicious schnitzel and great East German wine. We had the Bacchus in dry and schnitzel. Everything was super tasty. The best thing on top was the waiter. Loose mouth, always had a saying up his sleeve and created a great atmosphere. We can only recommend the restaurant, especially as a group. We would be happy to come back.

Unfortunately the food was a total failure! Fried potatoes without onions and bacon. Only 3 children's meals. All dishes are carelessly prepared! Failed in taste! My 9 year old daughter cooks better!

During our evening discovery walk through the passages and alleys of Leipzig's city center, we passed the PAULANER in Klostergasse. The hearty menu at the entrance appealed to us and we were not disappointed. Good service, tasty dishes, pleasant atmosphere. Full and satisfied, we walked past numerous other restaurants to our hotel on Augustus-Platz.

Everything was tip top, especially the waiter Nathan was very attentive. Great wine and great food. See you soon 🙋‍♀️

Very pleasant atmosphere and a very nice classic Bavarian restaurant. The recommendation “old Bavarian schnitzel” was very good, instead of beer there was a bottle of Bacchus (i.e. 2 bottles) and this was also excellent. The service was pleasant and friendly. All in all a great evening.

Traditional restaurant with a long history. Very good cuisine, attractive price/performance ratio for lunch, coffee and dinner. In summer there is a beautiful outdoor seating area and beer garden in the historic inner courtyard! Highly recommended!

The three of us had dinner at the Paulaner that evening and we had very mixed feelings. Our female companion ordered a small beer, which the waiter commented as “a child’s birthday for the lady.” I understand that it was meant to be funny and lighthearted, but such statements are absolutely below the belt, especially if you claim to be locally LGTBQ+ friendly. Most of the food was not fresh and most likely warmed up in the microwave (e.g. dried mashed potatoes on the edge of the plate or potato dumplings that are cold and hard on the inside). In relation to the higher prices, the price/performance ratio was rather average and not what one expected.

Unfortunately I have to give a not so good rating here. We were there over the holidays and unfortunately have to say that the food is not very good. The food doesn't taste fresh and all of our food was super dry. Even classics like schnitzel or dumplings didn't even come with sauce. We then had to order these separately, but they tasted exactly like what you would find in retail stores. The service itself was fine and friendly. So when it comes to food, I wouldn't recommend this place.

The four of us enjoyed a lovely cabaret evening in the Paulaner courtyard. We arrived on time, so there was enough time for dinner. The tables in the courtyard were full, the waiters were quick, friendly and attentive. The waiting time for drinks and food was absolutely ok. We ate liver, power bowl (shrimp and vegetables) and the cheese spaetzle. We all enjoyed it, the plates and bowls were full, and no one stayed hungry. Requests for drinks were routinely accepted and served during the cabaret break, so that no one sat thirsty at the tables for the second part of the program. We always enjoy coming here.

Vielen Dank .Es war ein sehr schöner Abend . Einzige kleine Mango das es zu den Toiletten so viele Treppen sind. Für ältere ziemlich mühsam und schade das dadurch kein Rollstuhlfahrer zu ihnen kann . Ehrliche Küche, gutes Bier und nette Bedienung, was will man mehr. Jederzeit gerne wieder!

Hoewel het erg druk was, wij niet gereserveerd hadden, maakte de vriendelijk kelner toch graag een plaatsje voor ons vrij. Lekker krokant gebakken schnitzels met heerlijk gebakken aardappeltjes. Jammer genoeg zat er geen groente bij, maar dat nemen we op de koop toe.

Service was very friendly and attentive had a nice quiet place in a corner ambience good everything was very clean beer was delicious only the food was not in proportion to the price quantity and quality e.g. handful of fried potatoes the fried egg was so small dry cold had big holes on the back like a frozen egg, it's definitely better in Leipzig with German home cooking, the liver was also dry, hardly any apples onions to be seen, it wasn't busy either, we won't be eating there anymore. It's a shame

As a tourist, I thought (from the outside) there was only Italian or Asian cuisine in Leipzig until I discovered the Paulaner Leipzig. Great ambience, attentive, very friendly service and the Old Bavarian Schnitzel was really great. However, the price-performance ratio is also right here. It will be on my list again the next time I visit Leipzig!

I recently had dinner there with a client and I was very impressed. The restaurant was fully booked. Luckily I had reserved beforehand. It's really easy with OpenTable. We had a very nice table and despite the fact that it was very full, there was never a rush from the staff and we never had to beg for drinks or wait. The food also came very quickly. The schnitzel was outstanding. Not as thinly beaten as one often experiences, but still very tender. Fried potatoes that deserve the name fried potatoes. The most important thing for me was of course that my customer was satisfied. He had never been to the Paulaner before and was very enthusiastic. Great ambience, great service and great food. He definitely wants to go back. If he then buys from me, then my goal is clear. I can also approach future business meetings there with peace of mind.

The staff is incredibly friendly, courteous and always helpful. Our wishes were fulfilled quickly and with a smile, which made the evening particularly pleasant. You really feel welcome and in good hands here. Overall, the Paulaner Leipzig is a real insider tip for anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere. The ambience is rustic, matching the style of the house. The prices for food and drink range from around €3.50 for tea to around €24.00 for food. It is clean, the path to the location goes downhill and is difficult to reach for visitors with “impaired mobility”. The rustic cuisine fits the ambience and tastes good. Sure, some people will add more seasoning. That is self-evident. Tastes are different and every chef cooks differently. Salt and pepper are available. However, when it comes to the “main staff” in service, I am personally skeptical. In the evening we were advised not to do any business business in the restaurant. It would disturb other guests. It's hard for me to judge whether such a statement is irony or the restaurant's slogan. As the evening progressed, our table (a volunteer group that advocates for the well-being of children and exchanges ideas) felt very unwelcome. Furthermore, our table had the experience of the "main staff" making jokes in irony or actually making it difficult to distinguish. There was no escaping our rendition of similar irony. Honestly, if you give it out, you have to be able to take it. That wasn't the case. It is actually said that the customer is king as long as you behave like that. We did that as a group. As the evening progressed we were skillfully ignored. Too bad for the place. Make your own experience.
