Papageno Mittelmeerküche in Regensburg

Who calls themselves "Mediterranean cuisine" when they only serve pasta and pizza? I find that misleading. Things like fish or meat are only available in pasta. You won't find a fish platter or anything similar. Okay, I could have studied the menu online beforehand. There were four of us. We all had pasta. It tasted good, but not outstanding. My request for Parmesan cheese with the pasta was granted, but I asked twice and waited a while. By then, my pasta was no longer hot. Service here was not good; otherwise, it was OK. The bread was generally tasty, but much too salty for my taste. Well, and an espresso that arrives lukewarm has nothing to do with Italian espresso. Unfortunately, I didn't send it back... my mistake.

We were spontaneously looking for something gluten-free in Regensburg and found it here! The staff was very knowledgeable, including regarding cross-contamination and celiac disease, and were also super friendly and accommodating. Gluten-free options are available there, including salads, pasta, and gnocchi. I had the delicious gnocchi, which I highly recommend!

Very good, huge pizzas 🍕😍, one of the best I've ever eaten. Light, airy, and crispy. Nice little outdoor area.

The food is excellent, and the service staff were truly super friendly. Small special requests were accommodated without any problems. The former wine cellar creates a wonderful atmosphere, but the high ceilings make it a bit too noisy.

The two of us spontaneously stopped in for lunch with our dog. The service was very friendly and quick. The dog was immediately given water and a bag of treats. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very pleasant. I highly recommend it!

Always worth a visit. A great restaurant with delicious, fresh, and authentic cuisine 🇮🇹🍕🥗 🦐, there's definitely something for every taste. I also have to praise the extremely friendly and attentive service there... For example, (between our ordered courses, our friend had to take an important phone call), when the waiter noticed this, he warmed his food so it wouldn't get cold... simply top-notch 👍🏻 I really didn't expect that. A big compliment 🤗 to the great staff. Since the restaurant is often busy, a reservation is recommended.

Unfortunately, for the second time, the noodles were lukewarm and obviously already pre-cooked (the color and consistency had already dried out).

We spontaneously decided to eat here, and I was pleasantly surprised. Given the location, you'd expect a tourist trap, but the food, service, and atmosphere were top-notch. The pizza was delicious, and the staff were very accommodating.

A beautiful and truly special location! The terrace, in particular, is a dream. The staff is incredibly friendly and wonderful. And now comes the best part… the food is fantastic! I honestly have rarely eaten so well. Sometimes I sit at home in Frankfurt and think, "Would it be excessive to drive all the way to Regensburg right now just for dinner?" I'll definitely be back as soon as possible!

Last night, two of us and our dog went to Papageno after a quick phone reservation. The service was super friendly and accommodating from start to finish; we felt very welcome. The food was also extremely delicious and served quickly, even though the restaurant was almost full. A huge compliment to the entire Papageno team ❤️

It's best to make a reservation in advance, which is easy to do online. It's a lovely place to sit both inside and outside. The food was absolutely delicious, and the drinks came very quickly. I've never experienced such friendly and fast service anywhere else; everyone was so nice. I highly recommend it.

The pizza was very tasty. However, I had a vegan funghi pizza and thought it was outrageous that the pizza cost €1.50 more than the pizza with funghi and ham (almost €17 in total!!). If the ham was missing, it should cost less, not more. I also mentioned it to the store, but they just shrugged their shoulders and said, unfortunately, they couldn't make the funghi cheaper despite the ham being missing.

Highly recommended 😀 The food was delicious and the portions were quite large. The waitresses were all super friendly and helpful. We were there with our dog and even got water and a few snacks. We'll be back.

The ambiance is beautiful, and the staff is always particularly friendly and accommodating on every visit. The food is second to none; it's always excellent. We often come here for dinner with friends, and that won't change in the future. I can't say much about the wait time, as we always make reservations, which I would recommend to everyone, as it gets very busy, especially on weekend evenings. I definitely recommend it.

Very tasty penne all arrbbiata, even with gluten-free pasta, and the gnocchi is also available gluten-free. Very friendly staff. Very tasty and thin stone-baked pizza with tomato, arugula, and mozzarella. No long wait. Large portions. Beautiful ambiance with a view of the Danube. Will definitely be back.

Unfortunately, I'm disappointed with the Caesar salad. Very dry, barely any dressing, very bitter salt. Small portion. Good staff. Mediocre value for money. 🫤

Long waits, arugula salad is served on the plate with the roots intact. The Coke tastes cheap, Freeway diluted with water. Pizza is covered in oil. The beer garden is very cramped, which makes table conversations unpleasantly loud. The staff was nice but very particular. The restaurant is perfect for Gen Z and all the chaos that surrounds it, but not for me.

Went to Papageno again today, where I haven't left a review yet. Both the pizza and the pasta are top-notch! The dough is crispy and sturdy, and the toppings are high-quality and very tasty! The staff is very friendly and attentive; all the service staff help each other without any clear assignment. It's a bit noisy inside when full, and to allow a lot of people to visit the beer garden in the summer (which is legitimate and understandable), the outside is a bit squashed together, so it doesn't get a full 5 stars on this point. The ambiance itself is pleasant and inviting.

A lovely restaurant in a relaxed Italian style, with a terrace. If you pre-order, you'll have room. The pizza is very good and generously sized. ...Lots of flavor from several cheeses, generously topped, visually interesting, and the pizza crust isn't too thick. What's undrinkable is the beer that accompanies the pizza—neither light nor dark!

The food was good, but unfortunately the service was terrible, and the waitress overcharged me by €14. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

Unfortunately, we didn't feel comfortable in the beer garden, as it was right next door. Very loud and horrible music was playing, along with the shouting of the drunks. What a shame ☹️

I ate a super delicious pizza there. The crust was fluffy with a nice thick crust. The sauce on top was really good. I had a pizza with arugula, Parmesan, and tomatoes. I highly recommend it! The price was absolutely reasonable, too. The food arrived very quickly.

We had reserved a table for 12 people. Unfortunately, due to the number of people, we could only sit inside. The service was underwhelming. The salads and the vitello tonata were bland and needed a lot of seasoning.

I think the chef needs to go back to school… The restaurant has no idea what Mediterranean cuisine is.

I can recommend the bruschetta as a starter for two people, or as a main course for those with a light appetite. The pizzas at neighboring tables were generous, and the diners seemed very satisfied. The service—I was served by three people—was consistently pleasant. Even as a solo visitor who only ate a starter, I felt welcome and comfortable. In my experience, that's not something you'd expect in every restaurant on a Sunday evening. I'll definitely be back in the next few days—hungrier than I was tonight.

I was glad I shared my anchovies as a starter. But then the Mozart pizza arrived, and it was so large that it was no longer enjoyable. Unfortunately, it was also very oily in the middle, which I don't like. For me, getting a pizza here was a bad decision. You can't get a seat without a reservation.

We were so impressed by the incredibly good service. Everyone was friendly and had fun. The organization and overall overview of every employee was simply outstanding. This was “eating out” on a whole other level. You could just enjoy everything from start to finish, no long waiting times, no constant waving for a service person. Every wish was fulfilled before you even expressed it yourself. And then really good stone oven pizza and excellent drinks. Great! Eating out here feels like a day on vacation!

Super delicious food - we ate a pizza and a small side salad. The salad was super great, appetizing, beautifully presented, small is an understatement. The pizzas here are super delicious, it wasn't our first visit and won't be the last either. This time we were able to sit outside, behind the restaurant, adjacent to the Danube, that has charm and completes the holiday feeling with Mediterranean cuisine. An experience every time. The service was very friendly and accommodating.

Been here several times and always been absolutely satisfied. Quality and service are top. There were a few technical problems with our card payment. We were politely apologized several times and had a limoncello on the house :)

The pizza was good. Unfortunately my drink was non-carbonated. I then got a new one but it was also non-carbonated. It then becomes unpleasant to complain about this again. When I paid I also got a stupid sentence. Given the prices, I just expect better service.

Service and food are good. When making pizza, the plates should be preheated. My pizza was cold after five minutes; so I was allowed to enjoy three quarters cold.

The manager or owner of the restaurant should definitely rethink their concept. This criticism is absolutely not directed at the service staff, who were very friendly and worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly the entire evening. However, the place was simply completely overbooked and crowded, presumably for profit reasons, so the staff had no chance of keeping up with the orders. We ordered an appetizer, for which we had to wait 50 minutes. It took a total of 90 minutes for the main course to arrive. We even asked when our food would finally arrive. After the main course, we didn't order anything else to eat or drink, but the staff had to cash us out and ask us to leave, literally kicking us out, because the next reservation had already been waiting 15 minutes for a table. That's completely unacceptable! As long as tables can only be booked for two hours, we will definitely not visit this place again. As I said, this criticism is not directed at the service staff; they actually deserve praise. As a customer, it was quite obvious that the staff did their best, but were unfortunately understaffed. The rating is therefore directed solely at the restaurant’s management.

We made reservation via Quando a month ago for Saturday 5:30p dinner, but we arrived an hour earlier and the staff was happy to get us seated. I must said the Sardine Antipasto was the best, follow closely by the Special Pizza with Parma Ham & generous Mozzarella cheese toppings, however the pasta was deviated somewhat from my expectation where I was expecting al Dante version instead, it was relatively soft while I must said that the interior decor was tastefully arranged with cozy ambient.

We were there to eat at 12 p.m. on Sunday and had reserved a table for 4 people with 2 children. When we arrived there were already two children's seats at the table and even crayons and 2 pictures to color. What we didn't mention in the reservation was our dog, we hadn't thought of him coming with us. The service noticed this and brought a water bowl and even some dry food snacks. I thought that was super thoughtful and it confirmed to me again why you are simply my favorite restaurant. Food and drinks were also served quickly. Thanks to you and the whole team, you are doing a great job and we are very happy to be with you! By the way, the food also tasted great.

We had a very nice evening yesterday :) since we were often at Papageno, there were always little things every now and then, or the pizza wasn't wow, but yesterday everything was great :) Service was top, no matter who was at the table with us, But especially the blonde woman with short hair was very grateful!!:) always responded to our wishes and you can tell everyone was having fun at work :) Pizza was really tasty, recommended with mascarpone!! Had a veggie alternative with mushrooms, peppers, onions, super crispy but also delicious topping, not too dry or soggy :)) Chocolate cake could have had a liquid core but that's our thing haha. Was warm and delicious!! The ambience is also really nice, we just felt comfortable, thank you :))

Appetizer platter was good Unfortunately, the Margherita pizza had an incredible amount of cheese on it, and then there was also parmesan and tomato pieces? Overall, unfortunately it didn't suit my taste at all and it was far too watery Gnocchi salmone tasted strongly of garlic, which could perhaps be noted on the menu.

We had dinner here on the evening of the 3rd Advent weekend and had made reservations, otherwise we would probably have been unlucky. We were greeted warmly and ordered, among other things, baked feta, pizza prosciutto e fungi and pizza with truffles, along with soda, wine and water. Everything tasted good (the truffle pizza had a bit too much truffle oil on it, but otherwise good) and we both couldn't finish the pizzas because they are really huge, so we took the rest home with us. We liked it - the price-performance ratio was absolutely fine and we'd love to come back again. We were particularly impressed by the super nice service. Two thumbs up!

Eines vorweg. Wer bei dem Namenszusatz „Mediterrane Küche“ mehr als Pizza und Pasta erwartet, wird enttäuscht. Das ändert aber nichts daran, dass das Essen sehr gut und auch reichhaltig ist. Das schöne Ambiente und die freundliche, aufmerksame Bedienung runden den positiven Eindruck ab. Gerne wieder.
