Trattoria Sorano in Regensburg

The pizza was okay, but the pasta dishes and parmigiana for the main course were disappointing. Service was attentive but overwhelmed. The wait for food was almost 45 minutes...and not everything came at the same time. Yes, it was busy, but still.

Trattoria Sorano is one of the few restaurants in Regensburg where you can tell from the first bite that they take quality seriously. The olive oil? Top-notch. Fruity, with a slightly spicy finish. Just the way it should be. The bread comes warm, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I could easily celebrate it as an appetizer. The lasagna was perfectly layered, not too greasy, a generous portion, rich tomato sauce, and the meat delicately seasoned. It was really enjoyable. The Parma e Bufala pizza was the highlight for me. Airy crust, thin base, and perfectly cooked. The Parma cheese was beautifully tender, the buffalo mozzarella creamy and aromatic. The bottom line: No frills, just honest, good food.

Well, I have to honestly say I've been there once with my girlfriend and have tried a lot of restaurants in Regensburg, and this is by far the best pizza I've ever eaten. You get truly authentic Italian pizzas there, and whatever you order tastes fantastic. Despite the prices, they're worth the 5 stars. I would recommend anyone who hasn't been there yet to go. I give the whole concept an excellent rating.

Super tasty & beautiful outdoor area

Looking for a small Italian dinner (since I didn't want to eat at the hotel) I ended up at Trattoria Sorano. I got a table straight away. The service was incredibly attentive and friendly. The Vitello Tonato appears small on the plate, but is much more and completely sufficient. Plus it tastes very good! The large mixed salad with strawberry vinegar sauce was really tasty. Pizza bread was served as a starter, free of charge. Very thoughtfully, I was given a (free) grappa with my espresso, which wasn't really a given either. The noise level is slightly higher due to the somewhat bare but stylish walls. But I found it rather good because it reminded me of a real Italian trattoria 😁. I will definitely come back and look forward to good, down-to-earth (in a positive sense) cuisine! Many thanks to the team!

Die neapolitanische Margherita mit Sardinen und Kapern war ein echtes Geschmackserlebnis – wunderbar ausgewogener Belag, perfekt abgestimmt. Der Rand war herrlich knusprig, genau so, wie man es sich bei einer authentischen Pizza wünscht. Für uns definitiv die beste Pizza in Regensburg! Beim nächsten Besuch in der Stadt ist ein weiterer Stopp hier garantiert. Weiter so!

This trattoria is on the edge of the old town, the location is rather mediocre, but the food is good. Prices are rather high, but you get good quality and delicious food, and the service is very friendly. When the weather is good you can also sit outside in a kind of beer garden. In its style it is really reminiscent of Italian trattorias

My favorite Italian restaurant in Regensburg for years. It is modern, but still has a slight Italo vintage charm, the service is always very attentive and you can tell that the boss has fun running the restaurant. Favorite pizzas: Verde and Bombo ❤️

Definitely recommendable in terms of ambiance and service, but the value for money for the Parmigiano di Melanzane was not at all right. The main course was a starter portion and truly marginal. At €15, it was also far too expensive. I left the restaurant hungry, unfortunately. It's a shame, because it's otherwise a great place.

The pizza was a 10/10. I've never had such a fluffy pizza anywhere in Regensburg. Was divine. Ambience also very nice, very Italian. You can watch the pizza makers. I will definitely come back and recommend it 100%. Prices are okay too. No more expensive than other Italians.

I have always had fond memories of Trattoria Sorano, but unfortunately I was very disappointed last time. I had linguine with prawns. The taste is really delicious, but unfortunately it's a very small portion for > €20. Unfortunately, it was so disappointing that we ordered another pizza to share because we were still hungry. But the pizza was definitely delicious.

The pizza is very tasty! The atmosphere is nice but sometimes very crowded and therefore loud. Otherwise great, especially the terrace in summer :)

Wir bestellten 4 Pizzas di Mare, die Pizzas schwammen in übermäßig viel Tomatensaft, als sie ankamen. Als wir es den Kellnern erzählten, machten sie sich über uns lustig und meinten, es sei „zu viel Soße“ da. Es handelt sich um einen dünnen, wässrigen Teig, der in der Mitte nicht durchgebacken ist, da zu viel Soße darin enthalten ist. Aus diesem Grund konnten wir die Pizza nicht essen. Schließlich erklärten wir die Situation noch einmal und sie wollten uns Kaffee anbieten :(, aber wir lehnten ab, weil wir hungrig waren.

Salve siamo due Italiani da poco in città, e con una grande nostalgia di pizza abbiamo trovato online questo splendido locale italiano 'La Trattoria Sorano'. Premettendo che al nostro arrivo di sabato alle 20:00 senza alcuna prenotazione e il locale pieno siamo stati accolti in una maniera unica, noi eravamo due persone e con un attesa veramente di pochissimi minuti ci hanno fatto accomodare. Il tempo di visionare il menù abbiamo ordinato due margherite per un po' paura della qualità e bontà della pizza. E qui siamo rimasti entrambi senza parole, pizza italiana stile contemporaneo di alto livello, impasto soffice e delicato bordo alto e soffice anche questo, nulla da invidiare a molte pizzerie italiane. Pizza da 9 complimenti. Sicuramente saremo vostri clienti ancora molte volte. Se siete in città vi consiglio una visita. Pieni voti anche su ambiente e servizio. Anche in Germania è possibile mangiare un ottima pizza Italiana.

Hello, we are two Italians who have recently arrived in the city, and with a great nostalgia for pizza we found this splendid Italian place 'La Trattoria Sorano' online. Given that upon our arrival on Saturday at 8:00 pm without any reservation and the place full we were welcomed in a unique way, we were two people and with a wait of just a few minutes we were seated. While looking at the menu, we ordered two margheritas because we were a little afraid of the quality and goodness of the pizza. And here we were both speechless, high quality contemporary Italian style pizza, soft and delicate dough with a high and soft edge too, nothing to envy of many Italian pizzerias. 9 compliments pizza. We will certainly be your customers many times again. If you are in town I recommend a visit. Full marks also for the environment and service. Even in Germany it is possible to eat excellent Italian pizza.

The food has been consistently good since it opened, but it has become very expensive. There is no longer even a bread basket to go with the large salad. You haven't seen any of the greetings from the kitchen for a long time.

We ordered a lasagna and carbonara pasta.. the worst lasagna I've ever tried, honestly. The pasta was not even close to "al dente" and the lasagna was just dry, burnt and no flavor in the meat.. We complain right away to the waitress and they offered dessert... If they failed executing a traditional Italian dish in a so called Italian restaurant, what can I expect for other things... it's simply a tourist trap!

Rarely have I experienced such good service in a restaurant. Courteous, polite and extremely professional! The waiter (Max) always responded to our wishes and never left a glass empty 😊 Sorano, again at any time!

I was recommended Trattoria Sorano by a work colleague (and a real Regensburg resident). It was really outstanding! As soon as you enter the restaurant you feel like you are in Italy: the ambience is warm and inviting with checkered tablecloths and candles that create a cozy atmosphere. The open kitchen is particularly impressive, allowing you to see how the food is being prepared. The Neapolitan style pizza is a poem. Airy edge & fresh, high-quality ingredients. The dessert was also heavenly and rounded off the meal perfectly. The service was very friendly and attentive. Despite the restaurant being busy, you felt well looked after at all times and food and drinks arrived quickly. If you appreciate Italian flair and excellent food, you should definitely visit this restaurant. We would definitely like to come back!

It was busy on a Monday night, which tells you that it must be consistently good. We went here only because it was close to our hotel (Novotel), but it turned out to be an excellent choice. All three of us were very happy with the food. I had the canneloni (excellent) with a huge side salad. Service was friendly and efficient. Although we do read German, I think there must have been an English menu available, as I don't recall translating anything. The waiter spoke excellent English. Prices were mid-range: not cheap, but reasonable for the size of servings and the quality of the food. Recommended.

I ordered pick up from the restaurant. The Pizza Diavola and the Bruscetta were ready in 15 minutes. 16.50€ for a pizza with 6 slices of salami, a few onions and olives… (pizza was not spicy!) The topping of the bruscetta had fallen off the bread, probably when it was put in the packaging. Not exactly commendable for a restaurant with these prices.

Bad reviews seem to be doubted more than people accept the criticism and think about it or try to do better in the future. We had a wait of almost 1 1/2 hours for the main course and our mood at the table was accordingly. We sat on the upper floor and it was completely overcrowded (and correspondingly loud). The tables were very close to each other and the waitresses sometimes couldn't get through, so we had to get up sometimes because after sliding the chair forward several times there was still not enough space for the waitress to get through with the food.

Food was okay. We waited around 1 1/2 hours for the food, unfortunately the food wasn't worth it. Far too many tables in the restaurant, you could have a conversation with the person sitting next to you if it weren't so incredibly loud in the restaurant. Unfortunately, you already have to shout at each other at the table. There is so little space between the tables that as a guest you even had to stand up so that the waiters could serve the tables behind them.

The ambience is nice, it is very loud on the ground floor, so you can't really hear people at the same table (we actually reserved for upstairs and still got a table downstairs). Staff is nice and accommodating. Pizza is pretty cheeky at €21.50. And then there are not even real black olives on it, just colored olives (you can clearly see it in the pictures of the other reviews). Unfortunately, even with the chili oil provided, the pizza wasn't "very spicy" as described in the menu. But as we all know, that depends on the eater's palate ;) However, visiting the restaurant again is completely out of the question for me.

Wir haben hier in kleinem Kreise unsere Weihnachtsfeier verbracht. Der Service war sehr engagiert aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen war sehr lecker und reichlich. Auch als das Restaurant bereits fast leer war wurden uns noch Getränke angeboten und nicht der Eindruck vermittelt man wolle jetzt schließen. Alles in allem ein sehr gelungener Abend!

We were there on Friday November 15th. the second time in the Trattoria Sorano. We booked via OpenTable, which worked well. At reception we were kindly informed that we had our table from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. That's what it says in opentable and I understand that restaurants have to plan that way. My companion had heard about this limited table time for the first time and was therefore surprised and asked. The lady at reception checked to see if she could give us another table but they were quite fully booked that day (completely understandable for a Friday evening). We were then taken to our table, ordered and ate. Unfortunately, my pizza came about 20 minutes later than my companion's main courses but, as mentioned, on Friday evening you can understand that and we didn't say anything about it. Behind us on the second floor were a few young men who had not ordered any food during the evening and were only there to drink. During the course of the evening you were asked to go to the bar. Also understandable but brought us back to the topic of limited reservation times. We had finished eating relatively on time when (as we later found out, there was no introduction or greeting) the manager briefly assured us that we didn't have to leave straight away and that we could take our time. That was meant in a friendly way, but by this point we had all finished eating and drinking. So we asked for the bill, paid it (+15%) and at the same time talked about the situation that had just happened. We didn't ask the waitress about it, but we weren't asked for our opinion either. So we put on our jackets and set off. Shortly after we got up, the manager came back to us and started asking us loudly, "What's the problem?" He kindly told us that we didn't have to go. Perplexed by the tone and the question (we have finished eating and want to leave), we first ask him not to shout at us. Of course without success, we continue with insinuations that we complained to the service person and that he has 'everything on video' (???) [At this point, please feel free to post the video in question here if possible]. After failed attempts to defuse the situation and the manager getting louder and louder, my companion and I were pushed out of the store and shouted. Finally, all you hear loudly is “no entry” and “get out of my shop”. I have never seen such absolutely unbridled and condescending behavior from a managing director, let alone experienced it myself. So as long as you don't upset the manager in any way, you can expect good service and delicious food at Trattoria Sorano. There's nothing wrong with that. However, we will of course never come back (whether the house is banned or not). I'm sorry to leave such a bad review because the restaurant, the food and the service don't deserve it. I still have to share our meeting with the restaurant's manager.

Wir hatten einen super Tisch im 1. Stock, der Service war super freundlich und sehr auf zack. Nach kurzer Zeit hatten wir unser Essen am Tisch und es war köstlich. Auch als im oberen Bereich es immer leerer wurde, wurde. Wir darauf hingewiesen wenn wir möchten können wir gerne sitzen bleiben. Rundum ein guter Besuch.

Great atmosphere, you feel like you're on vacation. The food selection is very extensive. I chose a vegan pizza, it was the best vegan pizza I've eaten so far! 😋🍕 If you're lucky, you'll find free parking on the side streets around the restaurant!

More by chance we were looking for an Italian restaurant after a long day of moving and what can I say... 3 visits within 5 days and each time we were surprised with excellent, honest Italian food. Simply very tasty and price/performance is o.K. especially with the really excellent service. Friendly, nice and always accommodating. We now have a new place-to-be in Regensburg! We are very, very happy to come back.

Best Italian in the whole city!!! No matter which dish - everything is sensationally good!

The two of us were there on a Saturday evening without a reservation, but the owner did his best to get us a place. But I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. The staff was friendly, the food was very tasty, authentically Italian and I was particularly impressed by the pizzas and starters. The restaurant is a little more expensive, but otherwise I have nothing negative to complain about.

A very nice atmosphere and super delicious food. We were there twice and both times we had good service. We would be happy to come back the next time we visit Regensburg.

Unfortunately, the tagliatelle with salmon from the daily menu (22 euros) were very, very oily and the Pizza Vegetariana for 15.50 euros had exactly 4 slices of zucchini, 1 mini piece of pepper and 1 1/2 slices of aubergine... the toppings were very poor for this size of pizza. The waitress was nice and attentive. The ambience was great

Nice restaurant located directly opposite the Hotel Luis. We received two free drinks for foregoing room cleaning and had them there on the first evening. We were thrilled by the ambience and the friendliness of the entire staff. We therefore decided to eat there on the second evening and were not disappointed, quite the opposite. We wanted to sit outside, but there was no space there at the time. A table was quickly taken outside for us, even though, as we later found out, there was already a shortage of staff in the service and kitchen. The food was incredibly tasty and worth every cent. I would say that the price of the restaurant is slightly higher for Regensburg, but it is definitely worth a visit!

EDIT3 (07/15/2024): 0.3 Pils from the bottle for 4.60€?!, 0.5l carafe of wine around 20€?, pizza on average 18€! Even with inflation and the like, that's an outrage and cannot be justified! I couldn't recommend the Sorano more. Very unfortunate! Food and service was okay, but unreasonably expensive! EDIT2 (08/24/2021), visit (08/22/2021): I haven't been there for a long time but something seems to have happened. Dishes are now more lavish again. The Parma/Rucola/Parmesan pizza was very, very good, as was the Capricciosa. If the next visit is just as positive, five stars are possible again! EDIT: The Sorano has dropped significantly. Greetings from the kitchen have disappeared and that Overall, courts have become much smaller. Previously 5 stars, now only 3! It's a shame, it was really good there! Original review: My girlfriend and I's new favorite Italian restaurant in Regensburg. Cozy vintage atmosphere paired with incredibly delicious dishes. The waitresses are professional and trained, the pasta dishes are a bit too expensive - but 5 stars are still justified! We recommend the calzones!

Excellent Italian cuisine in Bavaria

Perfect all around. We had a Pizza Pippo and Spaghetti Carbonara, with a bottle of white wine, a bottle of water and for dessert Tiramisu and Frutti di Bosco. Food and service were great. We'd love to come back! We sat outside and when the lights came on everything looked really romantic.

Rundum perfekt. Wir hatten eine Pizza Pippo und Spaghetti Carbonara, dazu eine Flasche Weißwein, eine Flasche Wasser und zum Dessert Tiramisu und Frutti di Bosco. Essen und Service waren super. Wir kommen gerne wieder! Wir saßen draußen und als die Beleuchtung anging hat alles richtig romantisch ausgeschaut.

Beautiful garden, great food and top service - had a lovely evening and sat for a long time. The prawns were initially missing from my meal, when I pointed this out to the waitress, I got a really large portion of prawns to eat within 5 minutes and didn't have to pay for them, super friendly 😊

This was the best place we’ve eaten at since being on our two week trip in Italy! The pasta was amazing and our server Rebecca was great. Highly recommend checking this place out.

It's a very nice restaurant, no question about it. The service was also absolutely great. But €13 for a margherita, €19 for pesto pasta with 5 prawns and a lasagne warmed up in the microwave for €16 are simply not recommended. It was simply between 30 - 50% too expensive for the quality offered. As I said, ambience and service Bundesliga, unfortunately food only district class. That's a shame because it makes you feel like you're being robbed of a really nice experience... Edit: in response to her answer I praised the ambience, see the 5 stars. The service as well, also 5 stars. But the quality of the food, if perhaps only that evening, was simply not commensurate with the price. And the fact that the lasagne is not freshly prepared is not the problem. The way it was served, dry, less than lukewarm inside, very little meat, that's my criticism. The fact that prices have risen is not an issue, nor is it necessary to ask for more. My point is that over €70 for 3 small drinks + 3 meals is around €10 - €15 above the equivalent value. Receiving criticism is not nice, I know that. And I don't want to rule out the possibility that it might not have been the performance that is otherwise offered. It was simply the impression I had at the moment and which I reproduced.

Yesterday I spontaneously went to this Italian restaurant with my best friend. Since we had a voucher for a drink, that was our original intention, but we also decided to have dinner here based on recommendations. We were immediately given a nice outdoor space. All waiters were consistently friendly. And you notice that it's not fake friendliness, but that people enjoy communicating with the guests here. Here I would particularly like to highlight the waiter Max, who was/is not only very attentive, but also shows you that you are welcome. I would also like to thank you again for the limoncelli. :) The food is simply exquisite. My companion had the Spaghetti Carbonara and I had the Penne Pesto Genovese. My request to be served spaghetti instead of penne was responded to with friendliness and commitment. At an upscale restaurant you expect a small portion at a high price. Here, however, the price/performance is more than consistent. The portions were more than enough for the price. Quality, taste and quantity harmonize perfectly here. Unfortunately we left again today. But if I come back to Regensburg, I will definitely dine at this Italian restaurant again.

Ein erstklassiger Service, Essen war ziemlich zügig fertig, der Hähnchensalat super lecker u d die Pizza ebenso (für mein Geschmack leider zu weicher Boden zur Mitte hin). Das Ambiente ist dort sehr angenehm. Der Preis war etwas hoch aber noch im Rahmen. Bei 2 Personen mit Getränken is man überall mit nem fuffi dabei. Immer wieder gern.

We went to Trattoria Sorano for a family celebration with 28 people and were completely satisfied. The food was very tasty, the service was excellent and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. We'd love to come back!

Great location in a quiet corner near the centre of the city. The waitress Rebecca is lovely, the best service I had in the city. On top of that it was the best food I had in Catania.

A glass of still water €4.30 was just too much for me!!

We were really looking forward to the visit: Unfortunately my partner's food arrived 10 minutes after my meal. I don't think that should be standard for a restaurant. I had the Lucifefero pizza for €21, it was delicious, but we got the black olives from a discounter, which shouldn't be possible at that price. My partner had a lasagna that came 10 minutes after my meal and came out of the microwave very safely. The entire edge was dry and only the inside was juicy. That shouldn't be the case at €16.
