Papa Walters UG in Nürnberg

Everything was rather below average. I'd always wanted to go there because of the good reviews. Today was the day, and we were very disappointed. No draft beer. The "Franconian beer" recommended on the menu was Mönchshof Hell from a bottle. The schnitzel was shoe-sole-like and small. The Schäufele (pork shoulder) was cold and tough, the crackling completely oversalted, and the dumpling was nothing special either. The sauerkraut was still boiling, but it was probably from a can, garnished with a bay leaf. We simply can't understand the good reviews. The ambiance had nothing to do with a Franconian inn, and the service was, at best, average.

Go there! Super friendly and attentive service. The menu and food are amazing. Top-notch cordon bleu! Good wine selection (regional) and excellent value for money.

I had dinner at this very cozy place, frequented by locals. What can I say...the food was very good, the soup with the spectacular beef broth. Not to mention the roast beef. Very tender. I highly recommend it.

The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were really generous. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and delicious meal. I'd gladly come again. P.S.: The only downside was that the portions were so large that there was no room for dessert. What a shame about the apple strudel! ;)

Wow! After a long journey from the Netherlands, we arrived here at 7:30 PM. We received a very friendly welcome and had a delicious meal. The price-quality ratio was excellent; the portions were generous, the flavors were perfect, and the food quality was excellent. I don't often write reviews, but this restaurant deserves some attention.

Hi, just a normal tourist here, giving a short review for deserving restaurants. THIS is the place to have your dinner! The pork shoulder (so crispy) and beef burger (amazing fries as well) were amazing 🔥. I wasted no time writing this review for this deserving restaurant. Service was top notch as well (felt really welcomed). Wish I could drop by once more.

The restaurant is known for its Franconian cuisine. The portions are quite large. I ate a burger - which was large and OK - but in no way justified the price. Store-bought burgers (not fresh, no), as was the potato pancake in the burger. The bun does not match the advertising photo and the composition of the burger is unbalanced. Pickled gherkins and blunt onions to add a bit of acidity are hard to find for almost 16 euros - a real no-go!! The ambience is nice and the waiter is friendly. What is definitely to be criticized is the price-performance ratio for the main courses and drinks in one of the poorest districts of the city. Why does the Sauerbraten cost 19.90 euros and another extra for red cabbage which actually comes with it?? The restaurant used to regularly feature in voucher books - but apparently according to the waiter, it is no longer? The Franconian dishes in particular are recommended, but hardly affordable for most residents of the surrounding districts!

Unfortunately, the salad overshadowed the entire meal. The salad was obviously unwashed and full of sand, so we couldn't eat it. We mentioned it when paying, but other than a simple "Sorry," nothing was done – we were still charged the full price. It's a shame; we won't be visiting the restaurant again.

A pleasant surprise for an industrial area. Good Franconian cuisine in a small, cozy restaurant. Located within walking distance of the action park, perfect after a few rounds of laser tag.

We stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant by chance through our hotel. The shoulder of pork was simply impeccable, and the liver dumpling soup was also very good. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. They even let them hang a picture of my daughter in the hallway. Highly recommended 👍

When we walked in, we immediately found it very nice and cozy. We noticed the lamps and the pictures. There was also something for the little ones to paint. It's also nice to eat outside when the weather is nice. You sit outside under cozy strings of lights and ivy. If you look at the menu, everything is very well and clearly explained. It offers a large, delicious selection. If you ordered something, you didn't have to wait long at all. The food was delicious. We were all full. The plates were beautifully presented, and the meat dishes came with a good amount of sauce! The setting was very nice, and our daughter even got some gummy bears at the end. We will definitely not forget the meal. 😅

If you like good Franconian cuisine, this is the place for you! Everything is freshly prepared and tastes truly delicious; you can immediately tell the quality. The terrace is also particularly lovely, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the food. Highly recommended!

Since we couldn't find what we were looking for the day before, we Googled a good restaurant. We probably wouldn't have ended up here otherwise, but it's absolutely recommended. A great atmosphere, cozy, clean, green, and beautifully lit in the evening. Excellent service, attentive, and friendly. And the food is outstanding, much of it homemade and perfectly flavorful. I hope many hungry guests visit you and enjoy their stay as much as we did.

Good Franconian cuisine. My cordon bleu could have been a bit juicier, though, and the cheese a bit stronger. The latter is probably a matter of personal taste. The shoulder soup was exciting. A bit heavy on the paprika. My companion was completely satisfied!

A very nice restaurant, somewhat remote from the center. There's pleasant seating both inside and outside. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home right away. The food is delicious.

Papa Walters is a very inconspicuous place, a small shop next to uninviting residential buildings. We actually only went there because it was within walking distance of our hotel. There were only two tables occupied, one with a few young men and one with older people playing Skip-Bo. I was really skeptical. Can a sparsely occupied restaurant impress? It can. We had the Argentinian fillet steak with rosemary potatoes, and what can I say, it was truly one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. The rosemary potatoes were seasoned just right, and the steak was cooked to perfection and super tender 👌🏼 I also ordered a side salad, which was fresh and crisp, and the dressing wasn't bad either. We paid just under €80 for 2 x 200g of meat, including sides and drinks, which is more than reasonable for a steak of this quality. The rest of the menu is more regional and affordable. I rarely write reviews, but this one is truly deserved. We were truly impressed 👍🏼

We had a great dinner at Papa Walter's. The atmosphere is very pleasant, inviting, and tastefully decorated—perfect for relaxing after a long journey. The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really stood out was the service. We arrived around 9:30 p.m. after a long drive, and even though the kitchen was already closed, the team kindly opened it again to serve us. This kind of hospitality is rare and much appreciated. The staff were friendly, attentive, and visibly happy to help us. You can tell they work with passion. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area—Papa Walter really knows how to treat guests!

The service was very friendly, the food was very good, the sauces were all homemade and very tasty. I can only recommend this restaurant and the food is also very inexpensive. The meal costs around €30 per person with drinks and is definitely worth it

The food was super delicious!!! We were there as a team and there were 14 people and the service was super nice and everything was great. I speak for everyone here: every dish was incredibly authentic and went down well :) Absolute recommendation! Thanks to the chef!! You do first class work! When we are in Nuremberg again, you will be our first address.

Stayed overnight in The Niu nearby, walked over and found great food & great service and all at an acceptable price for the service. If breakfast is good tomorrow, the customer threatens to visit again 😉😉😉

Das Essen war durch die Bank nicht gewürzt. Blaukraut aus dem Glas nur erhitzt keine Gewürze. Cordon bleu war von der Größe und Preis akzeptabel aber auch fad. Keine Gewürze zum nachwürzen auf den Tischen. Der Hammer war das Schnitzel meiner Tochter. 10 cm Durchmesser 14,50 Euro. Auf die Frage wie groß das kinderschnitzel für 8,90 Euro ist kam nur das das Schnitzel ja aus dem Schmetterling Lachs geschnitten ist. Ein Witz. Schäuferle oberste Schicht kalt. Kruste fad.

Wir wurden freundlich im Restaurant begrüßt. Die Gerichte von Salat, Burger, fränkische Küche wie auch Nachtisch waren alle sehr liebevoll angerichtet und lecker. Papa Walter ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

Nice restaurant with some fine dining. The portions are large and tasty. Good selection of different dishes on the menu. Unfortunately it was a bit drafty as we sat near the door. And it's a little smaller, so it's better to reserve! Nevertheless, I can highly recommend it.

I was invited to a business lunch here and was a bit skeptical as to whether there would be an acceptable restaurant in the area. It does - I can now confirm ✌️only with the high number of food the kitchen got into a bit of a slump. After a long wait, everyone finally had a delicious, warm meal on the table!

The restaurant offers good Franconian food at fair prices. The burgers, the Cordon Bleu and the Schaufele were very tasty and had a good portion. The cheese spaetzle was okay. Unfortunately there was a lack of creaminess and spice…. The atmosphere inside is very cozy and pleasant. The staff was also friendly and often came to ask for further requests. However, we were a registered group of 17 people and were spread across 3 tables in the restaurant because our place had been given to another group of strangers beforehand. I find this really disappointing, especially since the tables were so far away that we didn't even see the other group members. This should not happen if you reserve more than 3 months in advance.

Amazingly good, cozy and cool restaurant in St. Leonhard. Above all, the staff scores with their friendliness, attentiveness, speed and calmness. The food was fantastic - the best Schäufele I've eaten in Nuremberg so far. The price is also totally reasonable, and with the gourmet block, which is naturally used here, it's a bit of a bargain.

ich hatte mit meiner freundin für gestern abend reserviert. man wies uns einen kleinen zweier-tisch zu und übergab uns sofort die speisekarte. auch die getränke wurden sehr schnell gebracht. der gutschein aus dem "schlemmerblock 2024" wurde gerne entgegengenommen. ( ein gleichwertiges oder günstigeres hauptgericht gratis). wir bestellten beide cordon bleu mit pommes (die alternative wären rosmarien-kartoffeln gewesen). die speisen dauerten etwas länger als normal, das lokal war aber auch bis auf den letzten platz gefüllt. dann kamen für jeden ein grosses cordon bleu und ein schüsselchen mit pommes mit einer kleinen salat-deko und einer guten curry-sauce. das essen war sehr gut und auch sehr reichlich. wir hatten uns vorgenommen, noch ein dessert zu essen ... das vergassen wir schnell wieder, so gesättigt waren wir. und auch der preis war sehr akzeptabel. ein so grosses cordon bleu für € 15,90 ... da kann man nichts dagegen sagen. insgesamt: ein wirklich schöner abend mit sehr nettem personal und sehr gutem essen. (an der wand hängt ein diplom "1. platz" beim schlemmerblock-gutscheinheft-award". sehr zu recht! :-))

Unfortunately, the risotto was not made with risotto rice, but the taste was still fruity. The 3 small slices of goat cheese that were baked on top were from a discounter/supermarket and were manageable. The bratwursts with cabbage and potato salad are absolutely delicious and highly recommended. Franconian sausages were indicated and Nuremberg bratwursts were served. The apple strudel was from the freezer. The menu is well structured and beautifully designed. There is something for everyone here. I found the atmosphere in the dining room to be a bit cold. The background music is loud; we had difficulty conversing.

This place has a nice ambiance, and the food is passable but pricey. Definitely a sit down place, and not a grab and go.

Das Lokal war voll, die Küche offenbar überfordert, denn das Essen war mangelhaft, die Klöße nicht durchgegart, die Kruste des Schäufele war weich und labberig, sowohl Schäufele als auch der Sauerbraten zäh und nicht sauer. Es war eher ein weihnachtlich gewürzter Rinderbraten. Salat gab es um 19:30h keinen mehr. Die Bedienung war nett und auf Bemängelung beider Hauptspeisen gab es als Trostpflästerchen e i n e n Schnaps aufs Haus. Ein weiteres Mal werden wir nicht dort einkehren.

Very nice restaurant, inconspicuous in a corner of Nuremberg. There is very nice seating both outside and inside. The staff is very friendly, you immediately feel at home. The food tastes very good and the price-performance ratio is right. Clean and modern toilets are also available, and there is also a changing rack for the very young guests. There are a few parking spaces in front of the door, but there are enough places to park along the street. We look forward to our next visit.

Yesterday we had dinner with the Schlemmerblock at Papa Walters and sat comfortably outside in the beer garden. Although people generally don't like to visit Fuggerstrasse unless they have to, Papa Walters is well isolated from the noise of the main street. About the food: My friend's burger was good and actually deserves 4-5 stars. However, my sauerbraten was full of fat and also very firm to the bite, which is something I'm not used to. Normally a sauerbraten is very tender and almost falls apart when you cut it. So unfortunately it was rather disappointing, even though it didn't taste bad. About the service: Unfortunately we had to wait half an hour for the drinks alone, which is a real shame on a day as warm as yesterday. When we paid, the waitress came with the card payment machine and didn't even say 'thank you' or finally 'bye'. Instead, after paying, she simply turned around to the next table and collected it, literally turning her back on us. The outside area was full, but there was only one other table inside, so I don't think the waitress was particularly stressed. All in all we probably wouldn't come back.

After Papa Walters was listed in the voucher book, we spontaneously stopped by for dinner. Normally you wouldn't necessarily pay a visit to this corner of Nuremberg, but it was definitely worth it. The restaurant has a small, cozy garden, and the interior is also attractively designed. Very attentive, friendly service, a clear menu (less is often more). The price-performance ratio was right and the food was very tasty (Frankenburger and Cordon Bleu). The fact that the beer price is slightly above average can be accepted despite all the positive things. Conclusion: Gladly again at any time!!

What can you say, it was the best decision to try this restaurant. Super nice atmosphere, super friendly staff and the Schäuferle was a dream. In general, all the dishes looked as if they had been prepared with love. Absolutely clear recommendation! Thanks to the whole team.
