Kein Funke Service oder Menschlichkeit Ich bin fassungslos über das Verhalten in diesem Lokal. Als eine Person in einer akuten Notsituation nett nach der Nutzung der Toilette fragte, wurden dafür eiskalt 5 € verlangt. Eine absolute Notlage derart finanziell auszunutzen, hat mit Gastfreundschaft oder grundlegender Menschlichkeit absolut nichts mehr zu tun. Hier steht anscheinend nur der Profit im Vordergrund. Nicht zu empfehlen.

Ich bin durch eine Google-Rezension darauf gestoßen und habe es selbst ausprobiert. Die Steaks sind erstklassig. Ein Besuch lohnt sich auf jeden Fall. Das Restaurant hat einen tollen Blick auf den Rhein. Ich empfehle dringend, einen Tisch zu reservieren, um die besten Plätze zu bekommen. Die Portionen sind für den Preis absolut angemessen.

Das OX Royal ist ein Restaurant mit wunderbarem Ambiente und wahnsinnigem Ausblick auf den Rhein. Das Essen schmeckt mir sehr gut. Ja, am Ende wird's nicht unbedingt günstig aber ich lasse gerne Geld dort :) Die Kellner sind sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Auch spontan findet man meist einen schönen Sitzplatz.

Sicher kein günstiges Restaurant, aber seinen Preis wert. Das Fleisch war zart und auf den Punkt, die Vorspeisen perfekt, und Amar, unser Kellner, hat den Abend erst so richtig rund gemacht. Man sitzt bequem, hat eine tolle Aussicht auf den Rhein und das Ambiente ist zwar stilvoll, aber auch in keinen Belangen "drüber". Rundum ein perfekter Abend!

Dies ist ein wunderschönes Restaurant in der Nähe des Rheinufers, etwas außerhalb der Stadt. Die Einrichtung ist gehoben und das Personal elegant gekleidet. Wir wurden an einen schönen Tisch am Fenster geführt, obwohl es draußen schon dunkel war. Die Festtagskarte bot eine abwechslungsreiche Auswahl an vegetarischen und nicht-vegetarischen Gerichten (darunter Garnelen, Jakobsmuscheln, Steak, Lamm, Kabeljau usw.). Wir wählten Steak Tatar und Jakobsmuscheln als Vorspeise. Das Fleisch im Tatar war von sehr guter Qualität und hervorragend gewürzt. Persönlich hätte ich mir dazu gerne noch ein paar gewürfelte Zwiebeln gewünscht. Auch die Jakobsmuscheln waren perfekt zubereitet und wurden mit einer köstlichen Sauce serviert. Als Hauptgang entschieden wir uns für Chateaubriand. Es wurde dampfend heiß und medium-rare serviert, genau so, wie wir es mögen. Es war wahrscheinlich das beste Chateaubriand, das wir je gegessen haben, und eine ausgezeichnete Wahl. Die Festpreise sind zwar nicht günstig, spiegeln aber die Qualität des Erlebnisses und der Speisen wider.

Wir waren gestern 1 Weihnachtstag da. Alles war toll . Bedienung super nett , Tisch toll . Das einzige was für mich Horror war waren die Teller . Sahen schön aus aber - da kann kaum einer ohne Geräusche ( quietschen mit Messer und Gabel ) drauf essen. Ich konnte mich nicht entspannen weil es überall kratzte und quietschte. Wer Geräusch empfindlich ist wie ich - ist es nicht entspannt .

Wir kommen einmal im Jahr... und es war wieder mal ein Traum. Sehr nette und aufmerksame Bedienung. Gerichte waren von der Qualität ein Traum. Wir hatten die Calamares und Scampis als Vorspeise, Rinderfilet als Hauptgang- Medium auf den Punkt. Das Brot mit den Dips vorweg,- richtig lecker. Wir haben mittig im Raum gesessen,- war insgesamt sehr gemütlich! Wir können das OX nur weiterempfehlen, und kommen auf alle Fälle wieder!

Wenn jemand perfektes Fleisch auf seinem Teller haben möchte, dann geht er hier hin. Wenn jemand eine perfekte Sauce zum Fleisch haben möchte, geht er hier hin. Eine unfassbar gigantische Auswahl an verschiedenen Steaksorten. Die Weinkarte lässt keine Wünsche offen Ein äußerst persönlicher unaufdringliche, aber perfekter Service wird in diesem Haus gepflegt. Mit herrlichem Blick auf den Rhein in einem fantastischen Ambiente fühlt man sich einfach total wohl. Ich kann nur jedem empfehlen, dieses Lokal aufzusuchen.

We went there again in October for a birthday dinner, just the two of us, and it was fantastic once more. The Chateaubriand and the side dishes were first-class, and the ambiance and service are perfect for special occasions. We'll definitely be back!

There are many good restaurants in Cologne, but this one is truly special. The meat is of the highest quality and the ambiance and friendly staff make for a wonderful evening. In my opinion, Ox Royal is the number one restaurant in Cologne when it comes to meat and fine wines.

There were two of us at Ox Royal, and we shared the Chateaubriand, and it was simply perfect. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The side dishes were also high-quality and perfectly balanced in flavor. The service was attentive but never intrusive, and the atmosphere was elegant and tranquil, especially with the view of the Rhine – simply breathtaking. The prices are on the higher end, but absolutely justified by the quality. You can tell that attention is paid to every detail here. A place for special evenings that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Out of this world!!! I had the entrecôte (ribeye). Simply amazing. And before that, I treated myself to the calamari in garlic and oil – absolutely divine! Great restaurant. Price range: upscale, but worth every penny.

We visited the OX Royal restaurant on the Rhine on our wedding day and made a reservation online in advance, mentioning this as a special occasion and requesting a nice table with a view of the Rhine. However, when we arrived, no table had been prepared; instead, they wanted to seat us at a very small table in the middle of the room. Only after a brief hesitation were we offered a nicer table by the window a few minutes later. The prices on the menu are very high, but the quality of the food in no way justified this. All dishes needed to be salted or seasoned. The appetizers (mini calamari and steak tartare) were tasteless and needed more salt; there was no lemon, just a lot of garlic. The main courses (lamb with wok-fried vegetables and mashed potatoes, entrecôte with baked potato) were also disappointing: again, there was a lot of garlic, including in the salad dressing, but no subtle seasoning or herbs. The salad looked like something from a bag, poured into a bowl. Nothing had any refinement or particular taste, and even visually, attention to detail was lacking – no fresh decor, nothing befitting an upscale restaurant. The service seemed rather inattentive: water wasn't refilled, and payment was made without a detailed bill being presented. The card reader was already preset for a 10% gratuity, which, in this form, exerts an unpleasant pressure. The bill for two people came to €188, which was unjustified given the quality offered. Particularly disappointing: our wedding anniversary was not taken into account in any way – neither a friendly word nor a small gift, nor the table selection reflected the occasion. Conclusion: Beautiful location, but the quality of the food and service are disproportionate to the price. We would not recommend the restaurant.

This was my second time here and I was very disappointed. The filet mignon was overcooked and the meat was flaky and of poor quality. The first time I had the rum steak, and I was thrilled.

An absolutely fantastic experience at the OX Royal Steakhouse! We received a warm welcome as soon as we entered, but what really made the evening special was the service from our waiter, Amar. He was attentive, friendly, humorous, and highly professional at the same time – simply perfect! Our wishes were not only fulfilled, but often anticipated. The food was, of course, fantastic – perfectly cooked steaks, great side dishes, and a cozy atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

I highly recommend it to meat lovers visiting Cologne. Elegant atmosphere, varied wine selection. Reservations are recommended as it's a very popular restaurant.

We've been to Ox Royal three times so far and can draw mixed conclusions. The steaks were always cooked to perfection and very flavorful. The bread with butter is a small highlight. The wines are high quality, the cocktails good. The desserts are tasty but nothing exceptional. The side dishes, on the other hand, remain bland and uninspired. A potato with quark or a dollop of spinach. The prices are too high, considering the expensive location. A steak costs €55-60 and a spoonful of spinach for €7. With wine and an appetizer, the total quickly reaches €110-120 per person. The service is fast and attentive, but you get the feeling that you're being sold expensive products. Our waiter seemed downright "disappointed" when no one ordered an appetizer or drank wine. The view is excellent, and the ambiance inside is tidy and simple. Conclusion: This is the place to go if you want a good steak in a pleasant atmosphere and don't have to cover the bill yourself. If you value value for money, you'll find better options in Cologne.

Great place...but the food feels like a rip-off...great steak...baked potato and sauce okay...but then one small tomato...no vegetables...beans...or corn on the cob...and all that for almost 50 euros? I don't recommend this place...there's no conviction or love for the restaurant behind it...it's just a money-making machine, so for me...a definite no.

For anyone who loves steaks and is looking for a nice restaurant for a date, OX Royal is the place to be. Everything is just right here: the food, the location, the ambiance, and the service. This is our second time here, and the Chateaubriand did not disappoint. We'd love to come back!

Entrada: pedimos un gran pedido de langostinos para compartir y recibimos seis langostinos que habían sido cortados por la mitad lateralmente y no estaban pelados. Se sirvió chisporroteando en un plato de hierro fundido caliente y quieres que los pele? ¡6 gambas por casi 30€! Principal: Mi filete estaba demasiado cocido, la papa horneada estaba mal cocida con una cantidad antiestética de crema agria en la parte superior y la ensalada se estaba ahogando completamente en el aderezo — el aderezo debe servirse a un lado. Mis maridos el filete estaba mal cocinado y tuvieron que enviarlo de vuelta para que lo cocinaran más, su papa horneada también estaba mal cocinada con demasiada crema agria por encima — quizás también debería ofrecerse de lado y su ensalada también se estaba ahogando en el aderezo. No parecía apetitoso en absoluto. Servicio: El vino recomendado era el más caro y no maridaba bien con la carne. El servidor se dirigió solo a mi marido y no a mí. Basta de decir. Estos son errores amateur y costosos en eso. Hazte un favor y prueba un restaurante diferente en la zona, hay bastantes que tienen mucho mejor comida y te costará mucho menos.

Service... well... we may have got the “wrong” host... but with average service, asking for 10% tip several times (by the way, we're happy to give a lot more if the service is right)... no, unfortunately that doesn't suit us...

You can immediately tell that there are professionals at work here who do their job with passion. Our questions about meat and wine were answered competently and with a smile. And then the food – wow. I had a beef tenderloin that was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. Grilled to perfection, served with a creamy truffle puree that was simply brilliant. My partner had the Chateaubriand – a poem! Everything to the point, beautifully prepared, tastes great. Yes, the OX Royal is rather expensive in terms of price, but it is worth every penny. For me it was an evening that I will remember for a long time - and certainly not my last visit.

Perfekt gegrillt, dazu ein cremiges Trüffelpüree, das einfach nur genial war. Mein Partner hatte das Chateaubriand – ein Gedicht! Alles auf den Punkt, wunderschön angerichtet, geschmacklich top. Ja, das OX Royal ist preislich eher gehoben, aber es ist jeden Cent wert. Für mich war es ein Abend, an den ich mich noch lange erinnern werde – und ganz sicher nicht mein letzter Besuch.

We've eaten here several times with the family and it's always been great. The service is very attentive and everything we ordered was to die for! We are thrilled every time and know that the menu is top top top. We would be happy to come back at any time.

Unfortunately, the visit to the Ox-Royal did not meet our expectations. The plate language seemed poorly thought out and careless. The Wagyu sirloin steak – actually a highlight on the menu – was surprisingly tasteless. The baked potato also remained just that: a baked potato, without any sophistication. The bread, which tasted quite good, was served so often that it quickly lost its special character. Beer is only served in the bottle, the glass remains standing - even with the next drink, which leaves a bad aftertaste. The service seemed more concerned with making high-priced recommendations than with truly honest advice. The ambience leaves room for improvement - quite cool and without a clear line. Only the view of the Rhine improves the overall picture a little. Unfortunately, the toilets weren't particularly clean, which further marred the overall experience. In terms of price-performance, there are definitely better alternatives in the area. A visit here is worth it - if at all - just for the view.

The waiter visibly did his best to give us a pleasant experience, with attentive and friendly service. There is a wide choice of wines and the dishes are of high quality, although the price is a bit higher.

Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, der Service wirklich nett. Zum Aperitif ein Glas Champagner bestellt, das konnte man nicht in Ruhe austrinken, denn das Steak war viel zu schnell da. Der großblättrige Salat ließ sich selbst mit Messer und Gabel kaum appetitlich bewältigen, das Filet mignon 200 g war auf zwei offensichtlich übriggebliebene Stücke verteilt mit sehr mäßiger Qualität, aber einem Preis von fast 54 €. Die Sauce Bearnaise für 7€ zusätzlich war absolut mittelmäßig. Die positiven Bewertung sind absolut nicht nachvollziehbar.

The location of the restaurant is most pleasant. The staff is very friendly and service-oriented and the quality of the food was excellent. In this respect, around 50 euros seem local and appropriate for a 400g rump steak. In my opinion, there is a star deduction for the sometimes cramped seating conditions. The restaurant was very busy, but the tables are very close together and the noise level is not entirely great when the house is full. The latter is a bit too much for me personally. Nevertheless, I can fully recommend the OX Royal.

Very tasty, good service. There were 6 of us but we came to around €860 without a tip, but with all sorts of food, 2 bottles of wine and desserts. The meat was very tasty. It is served in bowls that are still boiling.

My visit to OX Royal was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The best steak I've ever eaten! Yes, you have to dig deep into your pockets, but it was worth every penny! There were three of us and we each ordered a different piece of meat. Everyone was fabulous! There isn't much going on in January, so you can still get a table at very short notice.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. The truffle and Parmesan steak tartare to start was one of the best starters I have ever eaten. Went for the fillet for my main which was cooked to perfection. Dessert was also extremely tasty. Well worth the price range and a beautiful and cosy atmosphere inside also.

Steak on point and perfectly salted. Bernaise a dream. Unfortunately the gratin was at most lukewarm and the salad was a side salad. Bread at the front was great including dips. Starters were mixed, we really liked the tartare, the calamari was okay. I found the wine list exciting. The waiter seemed a bit rushed, which was probably due to the full occupancy before Christmas. If you want to enjoy a nice steak in a great Rhine ambience, you are very well advised here. I missed a few cuts away from the everyday.

We ate there again today, Christmas Day 2024, with 4 adults and 2 children (1 and 6 years old). Everything perfect again. We were greeted very friendly, our Kellern Goran was once again very attentive and very friendly, without seeming fake. He also immediately responded to the two children. After he asked my 6-year-old granddaughter her name, he addressed her by that name and discussed with her what she wanted to eat. Simply great. I don't have to write much about the food, because everything you get is of great quality and perfectly coordinated. We paid €95 per person for the 3-course menu, which is really justified here. Were there again last week after 2 years. Bread beforehand was very tasty. Starter below average. The meat was okay, but once again it didn't hit the cooking point. Service very inattentive. Jacket was not removed. Dessert delicious. The four of us paid almost 600 euros for it to be just okay. Wouldn't come again because of the price. 2 years ago: Red wine was very good, the gin was okay. Water Gerolsteiner is not to everyone's taste but it's ok. The starter was the octopus, unfortunately too expensive for the quality. The fillet was tasty but the cooking point was not met. Chimicurri was great 👍🏽 But I gave the shop another chance

One of the worst places I have visited. The food was barely eatable, the wine list a joke. When the waiter asked how we liked our starters and we said the tartar was really bad, he didn’t even ask why. After our main courses where almost everything was left on the table he didn’t even bother to ask anymore. You can really see how the restaurant is trying to improve! Meat quality was borderline, prices exorbitant. Even one star is too much. Bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere.

Wir wurden zum Tisch geleitet und noch bevor wir uns setzen konnten, wurde schon gefragt, ob man schon mal eine Flasche Wasser bringen soll. Für den durstigen Gast mag das vielleicht im Hochsommer in Ordnung sein, ich möchte erstmal ankommen. Die Vorspeisen waren in Ordnung und die Weinauswahl war zufriedenstellend. Der kleine Salat zum Steak bestand vorwiegend aus grünem Blattsalat und war übermäßig mit einer eiskalten Knoblauchsauce lieblos übergossen. Mein Steak war auf den Punkt gebraten, dass meiner Begleitung nicht. Es sollte medium serviert werden, war aber offensichtlich medium-rare. Eine erhebliche Menge Fleischsaft trat aus und verlief unappetitlich auf dem Teller. Die Fleischqualität war sehr gut. Die aufgerufenen Preise halte ich für zu hoch und nicht angemessen. Auf einen Degistif habe ich dann verzichtet, die Preise sind unverschämt hoch. Fazit: Ich verstehe den Hype nicht, der um dieses Steakhaus gemacht wird. Es ist ein ordentliches Steakhaus, nicht mehr und nicht weniger.

Since we were very satisfied with the pre-Christmas period in 2023, we wanted to repeat it this year. However, the positive experience could not be repeated. Eat: Two children's pasta for 2 and 6 year olds 18 euros each, is absolutely outrageous. The right spoons to eat these noodles didn't arrive until 10 minutes later, so you didn't have to blow. The Bearnaise sauce had separated and was ice cold, and it only came when the steak was already three-quarters eaten. After a long wait, we were able to tell the service about this, unfortunately it was so full that you can't even call the service a service, tried hard, but unfortunately overwhelmed and far away from the standards they set themselves in their prices. The gratin was also cold, on two plates, but there was no complaint because the staff was busy. Invoice: When the bill came, we noticed that the Bearnaise sauce amounting to 6.80 euros had not been taken down; the waiter succinctly said that we should deduct it from the tip. There is a lack of appreciation and respect for the guests here. We are happy to pay for a nice ambience and good food; mutual respect should be a given. A mistake or a complaint is not bad, we weren't angry about it, but the way we were treated shocked us. We had the great feeling from last year in our heads and went home disappointed. Another drawback: plates piling up in the entrance area when leaving the restaurant. The collection of the jackets last year was a nice goodie when entering the restaurant, which no longer took place this year. The broken toilet door should be mentioned briefly, I had the handle in my hand, the service wasn't interested either, they just said, put it back on the door. A successful, beautiful evening, no unfortunately not whether we will come back, we are more than unsure. A gastronomic company wants to generate sales in a completely understandable and understandable way, but doing so at the expense of quality and service is the worst thing you can do.

Tuvimos una reserva aquí en nuestro fin de semana fuera de Colonia, en primer lugar, diría que si te alojas en Colonia esto es de unos 20 minutos en coche. No es un problema en absoluto y definitivamente vale la pena, pero asegúrese de tener en cuenta eso. Teníamos una reserva a las 8: 30 y llegamos justo antes, sin embargo no nos sentamos hasta las 9 : 15 . Estaba muy ocupado y un sábado por la noche, así que es comprensible. El personal allí era genial asegurándose de que estábamos bien y conseguirnos bebidas mientras esperábamos. La comida era excepcional, como cabría esperar de este restaurante muy pesado de carne pero simplemente sabroso y delicioso. Entre nosotros tuvimos pulpo, gambas y carpaccio para empezar seguido de 4 cortes diferentes de filetes, seguidos de crema brûlée para el desierto. Todos estuvimos de acuerdo en que este era posiblemente el mejor filete que todos habíamos comido. Si bien la espera fue decepcionante, definitivamente valió la pena la comida l, el ambiente y el personal eran todos increíbles

Food fine but how can you go wrong with a steak. Service execrable - slow, incorrect and over macho - they think they are way better than they are. Very noisy and empty dishes piled in reception. Wine way over priced, cheapest at €50 but most double that. Avoid

Best steak restaurant I have visited in Europe. Only in Japan have I eaten better Wagyu. I had the 450g Wagyu steak, top. Super nice service, great atmosphere, food very tasty.

Wir hatten Glück und saßen nicht im vorderen Gebäude sondern hinten bisschen abseits , vorne sehr laut. Vorneweg Empfang und Kellner wirklich nett. Das Essen fing gut an, Brot und Butter sehr lecker und dann war es einfach nur enttäuschend . Tatar null Geschmack nur Fleisch , Carpaccio auch schon 100 x besser gegessen. Steak war gut, aber das timing kartoffelgratin/ Gemüse (war auch noch angebrannt) und 5 min später erst das Fleisch bringen nicht so gut. Bernaise 2x geronnen … da erwarte ich bei den Preisen schon was besseres.

At the end the waiter asks if we want to tip 10%! Normally you don't ask something like that and the customer can decide for themselves

I came here with my boyfriend on holiday for a lovely romantic meal. We were hugely dissatisfied. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a friendly manor, and shown to a nicely displayed table. At first, we agreed it was a warm welcoming and nice atmosphere. We ordered the baby squid and octopus starters. The squid was massively under seasoned and tasted of absolutely nothing. Even with salt, it added no flavour to the dish. 1.5/10. The octopus was definitely better. It looked better upon arrival, however, did not taste fresh and was also very bland. Unsatisfied, 3/10. The main course: We were very encouraged to order the chateaubriand, the waiter was very enthusiastic that this was the best option on the menu, and so we went with this as our choice. It was awful. The steak came on a sizzling plate and still became cold within minutes. Absolutely no texture. No blood. No flavour. Again, even with salt/sauce the steak was appalling. The vegetables served alone side with this €126 plate, was cold, bland and unenjoyable. We had ordered a very overpriced Sauvignon Blanc, after tasting a sip, we commented on it being a bit sweet. The waiter disagreed and mentioned it being ‘fruity’, he continued to pour the glasses. The wine was the only decent component of this meal. After a few minutes or so, we had to pour our own empty glasses as our designated waiter was catering to the table next to us more, ( a more popular and busy table with an obviously higher paying bill) At the point of paying our bill we displayed our concerns and issues, our waiter mentioned not always being perfect in the chef department and paid no remorse to our unsatisfactory meal. We had to pay the full price of €234 for 4 whole courses and wine in total and were absolutely astonished that we received no compensation for the appalling and utterly overpriced meal we partly consumed. This is our personal experience and we would not suggest a visit to this restaurant unless you would like an overpriced and plain tasting meal in the heart of Cologne, Germany.
