Ouzeria in Köln

The prices are unfortunately completely disproportionate to the quality and the extremely small portions. Everything tasted good, but nothing special. I've never had such a tiny portion of ceviche that tasted of so little. The two mini scallops were also lost on the plate. Then, for €45, we got two small strips of Iberico pork. If we hadn't kept ordering bread, we would have left hungry, having spent €460 for four people. The porcelain plates, however, were extremely lavish. It's a real shame because the team there is excellent and the atmosphere is cozy.

That's a bit too little. The small tables are very close together, making private conversations nearly impossible. With an €80 set menu, there's no amuse-bouche, and you have to pay extra for additional bread. The food is okay; only the smoked eel is truly good. The wine pairing is also rather mediocre, although the red Burgundy was good. So, all in all, rather average, but overpriced.

Both the food and the wine selection were excellent. Absolutely delicious and well worth a detour. We'll definitely be back. Best regards from Koblenz M & O

I've been to this restaurant a few times. The food is delicious. Sometimes I found the service a bit less friendly than expected. The wine list is good, with a fantastic selection of Greek wines.

A 10. The service, the food, the location… All the dishes were delicious. We tried both the regular menu and the vegetarian one, and we loved them both. The service was very professional and friendly. Our waiter even spoke to us in Spanish.

The food is very good, nicely presented, and pleasantly served. Unfortunately, the value for money isn't adequate; the portions are simply too small. The back area and the restrooms don't live up to the restaurant's standards.

Food was tasty and I understand its Michelin rated and all, but the starter portions are so insignificant that you can barely get your taste buds going. An ambitious restaurant with a tasting menu and solid culinary craftsmanship, the three-course à la carte menu falls short of expectations in terms of portion size and value for money. Starters seemed more like amuse-bouches, and main courses offered only sparse side dishes and a manageable amount of ingredients at high prices. The wine selection is interesting, but some are significantly overpriced. The atmosphere, service, and presentation are of a good standard, but what is lacking is a sense of genuine hospitality. The potential is there—the balance between quality and guest experience is still lacking.

Located in very lively area full of bars / eateries. Resto itself smallish, rustic & unpretentious. Food Gastronomic / creative. Service great. Def will come back. Bravo 👍

Excellent food, great service! We were there at the weekend and then it is of course very busy in and around Brussels Square, you can still notice it in the restaurant. Overall, highly recommended!

This place is not recommended if you are hoping for friendliness and need help. I asked nicely for a toilet. It was denied. If I'm not treated kindly in a restaurant as a non-guest, you won't have me as a guest either. That's why I won't come here anymore.

Wir hatten das Restaurant von einem Freund als Empfehlung erhalten und wurden sehr positiv überrascht. Die Reservierung funktionierte und wir waren frühzeitig bei der Doppelbelegung eingebucht. Der Empfang freundlich und locker mit einem Platz am Fenster (Tip: der vordere Raum ist deutlich freundlicher gestaltet, als der hintere). Mit 5 Personen bestellen wir von der übersichtlichen Karte (drei Hauptspeisen) fast alles über Vor,- Haupt,- Nachspeise mit griechischem Wein, Dessertwein und Kaffee. Sämtliche Speisen waren von hoher Qualität, so dass der Preis für uns durchaus nachvollziehbar war. Alle Speisen waren kreativ angerichtet. Für uns durchaus sterneverdächtig! Das Ambiente freundlich und locker, aber nicht zu laut. Der Service kommunikativ und aufmerksam. JA, wir kommen sehr gern wieder! "Kurt", DANKE für den Tip.

I VERY rarely write bad reviews, but unfortunately the evening here was very disappointing and unpleasant. It's a shame that Ouzeria has changed its concept. The charming, small restaurant with special Greek tapas has now become a supposed "fine dining" restaurant. Unfortunately, in my opinion the price-performance ratio is not right at all. The portions are far too small, overpriced and the taste is not convincing. Our disappointment was of course particularly great because I had recommended the old Ouzeria and had previously said that there were good Greek tapas here at fair prices. So we had planned a completely different evening, with friends who didn't have +-80 per person. wanted to spend. Of course, sitting there expecting something completely different was a bit uncomfortable - especially for me because I chose the restaurant. Unfortunately, when I asked the service lady when the Ouzeria had stopped being a tapas bar, I received the answer in a rather unfriendly tone: It's been that way for over four years. That surprised me and I have now seen in my old photos that I spent a lovely evening with two friends and the old concept in the Ouzeria on November 26, 2022. The service lady obviously had fun not telling the truth and wanting to embarrass me in front of my friends?! 🙈😳😱 Unfortunately, the lady in service was very annoyed with us and let us feel it at the end of the evening - a VERY unpleasant experience that is completely inappropriate in a "fine dining" restaurant. Maybe you should think about changing the name if the concept is changed so fundamentally. In this way, misunderstandings and disappointing evenings could be avoided, especially since “Ouzeria” actually means “tapas tavern”. At least the service should be set up so that guests who still expect the old concept could sit at a table and then respond professionally and understandingly. Unfortunately, this was not the case at all. One thing is certain for me: I would no longer go to the Ouzeria for fine dining. There are many other restaurants in Cologne that offer better food and service. The Ouzeria could be a recommendation for people who want to eat something “upscale” or at least more expensive in a lively, go-away area in a relaxed atmosphere and then want to go out within walking distance. If you know from the start that it's no longer a mezze bar, you can probably spend a nice evening here and hopefully you'll be treated kindly.

We had a successful evening in the Ouzeria. The service was great, really warm, attentive and personal. The food was delicious and the wine recommendation suited our taste. We found 70 euros for five courses to be good value for money.

Our Christmas present “Fine Dine - 12 invitations to indulgence” drew our attention to the restaurant “OUZERIA” in K. First visit with friends on 01/11/25. Our summary appreciation of this wonderful culinary evening (reservation mandatory) is as follows: Warm - professional service, authentic with “wine expertise” that we have so far lacked with the Greek wine we chose... very good recommendation. Potato Leek Bacon | Crispy Panko Egg Beef tartare Ponzu | Onsen Egg Yolk Cream | Manchego | Brioche Dakos double-baked barley bread from Crete | Tomato sorbet | Feta Espuma | Cherry tomatoes Beetroot tartare Mango "Egg Yolk" | caramelized walnuts | green apple | Lemongrass sauce we chose it as a starter. Main course: Cod fillet Potato Croquetas | “burnt” chard | Mushroom sesame Beurre Blanc with caviar Iberico Salsify |Ginger | Lemongrass - soy glaze | puree made from caramelized onions and miso Presentation and taste = excellent, the “potato” starter was a surprise...! The dessert was in no way inferior to the first courses..., the wine was “different” but very good and to our surprise, the espresso was absolutely top. “Some Italians could learn a lesson here….” We were completely satisfied and can recommend the “OUZERIA” one hundred percent. The restaurant itself “deserves” a little more space, i.e. a few more square meters of space - especially in the entrance area.

In den Kritiken wird hier immer wieder von unangemessenen Preisen für kleine Portionsgrößen geschrieben. Ich kann das nicht bestätigen. In der Ouzeria wird Spitzengastronomie mit hohem Aufwand und entsprechendem Wareneinsatz betrieben. Das hat nun mal seinen Preis. Ich war vom Essen restlos begeistert (Vorspeise Tatar, anschließend Kabeljau), der Service war super, die Atmosphäre toll und auch die angebotenen Weine prima. Mit dem Konzept, mit dem die Ouzeria vor vielen Jahren gestartet ist - Mezzedes oder andere griechische Klassiker auf hohem Niveau (was uns immer gefallen hat), hat das nicht mehr viel zu tun. Der Abschluss-Ouzo könnte genausogut durch einen Framboise oder dergleichen ersetzt werden. Von daher ist vielleicht die Erwartungshaltung beim ein oder anderen gast falsch. Da hilft ein Blick in den Michelin-Guide. Weiter so.

Wie schon einige geschrieben haben, sind die Preise am Limit. Geschmeckt hat es mir aber, der Service inkl. Weinbegleitung waren sehr gut. Mir hat allerdings gänzlich das Griechenland-Feeling gefehlt. Da hätte ich mir mehr Bezug gewünscht. Der kommt bei geräuchertem Aal und Bananeneis als Dessert eher nicht auf.

Das Essen entspricht nicht der Michelin Bewerbung. Das Iberico Fleisch z.B. ist durchgegart gewesen und lauwarm, laut Chef sogar vorgekocht und nur aufgewärmt gewesen, der Jus war blass, die Vorspeise (geräucherte Aal) bestenfalls in der Größe eines Amuse Bouche für den Preis einer Vorspeise. Es ist ein gehyptes Lokal mit durchschnittlichen Speisen, auf aufwendigen Tellern und Preisen eines Sternelokals. Die Tische waren klein und sehr eng gestellt, sodass eher eine Kantinenatmosphäre herrscht als "fine dining".

What a pleasant surprise. Great food and a great wine offer - you will most likely find something on the menu that you will enjoy. I’ve had the Duroc as main and it was cooked to perfection. The Demi glace paired with the onion mash were absolutely delicious. We will definitely come again.

A real culinary journey! Every course was fantastic and it was noticeable that thought had been put into it beforehand. Here we cook with attention to detail. Particularly noteworthy is the charming and attentive service, which made the evening perfect. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

The service was great, the food portion was a bit small, we ordered 5 dishes for 2 persons. One minus is that even though we ordered drinks and asked for service water, they still charge for it, it was not bottled water, just tap water.

From the outside, objective and pleasant. But! Go in! and experience Warm welcome, warm atmosphere and a top level. Unobtrusive, balanced and surprising. Every dish had character, every ingredient was showcased and appreciated. Sauces dense and accompanying without dominating, elegant and sophisticated side dishes. A fantastic interpretation of black salsify. An outstanding combination of acidity and earthy nuts. Perfect texture for meat, fish and vegetables. The wines appeared loyal and following like confident squires. MN could rely on every glass. An exceptional late harvest deserves special mention here! I can only recommend eating properly before visiting the Ouzeria so that you are no longer hungry. The portions are tiny, for the hollow tooth. Went to dinner for the first time late in the evening for a little something. The menu looked promising and we also got a seat on the small terrace. However, if you expect classic Greek cuisine, you can go to Ouzeria not happy... But unusual dishes, I would say Greek cuisine reinterpreted. You can taste the high quality of the products and the knowledge/skills in breaking new ground in the kitchen. Service was nice and friendly and for the dishes offered a very good price/performance ratio. There was also a menu with wine pairings, which we would like to try on our next visit to Cologne. Or just open a second location in Düsseldorf... All in all, a nice end to the evening.

Wir haben die Ouzeria im Rahmen der Fine Food Days Cologne zum ersten Mal besucht und hier die Vorspeise serviert bekommen. Es gab ein Rote Beete Tatar, sehr lecker, Portion überschaubar von der Größe her. Brot und Salzbutter vorab sehr gut. Personal war ok, nachgefragt ob weitere Getränke gewünscht werden wurde nicht, wir mussten uns immer bemerkbar machen. Wir werden das Restaurant noch einmal besuchen und die Hauptgerichte sowie Desserts probieren.

Due to a great experience almost a year ago, we reserved another weekend at the Ouzeria. The service was inattentive and above all rude. Due to the limited space at the table, we only ordered one round. After 30 minutes of empty plates and glasses and no questions asked, we ordered the bill. That happened very quickly. Really very unfortunate, but once again a shop that I will not recommend to anyone in the future.

Es war ein großartiger Abend mit meinen Geschäftsfreunden, die zum ersten Mal vor Ort gewesen sind und voll des Lobes über Service Küche gewesen sind. Es gibt doch noch das Besondere in der Gastronomie. Jederzeit immer wieder gerne in der Ouzeria

Überraschend hohes Preisniveau der Vorspeisen, das ich aufgrund der sehr geringen Portionsgrößen völlig unangemessen fand. Wenn man Cannelloni bestellt und dann zwei Stücke bekommt, die aneinandergelegt dann vielleicht einen Cannellono ergeben, so ist dies für 14 EUR bei einer wenig exquisiten Füllung mit Spinat und Gorgonzola schon grenzwertig. Bei der Makrele wurden uns für 16,90 EUR zwei Stücke kredenzt, die auch als Sardinenfilets durchgegangen wären. Ich gebe sehr gerne Geld für gutes Essen aus, aber hier passt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis nicht. Die junge Inhaberin fand ich sehr sympathisch, aber ob dieses Konzept tragfähig ist und auf Dauer zum Erfolg führt, wage ich zu bezweifeln.

Für ein Lokal, das im Guide Michelin besprochen wird, war das Essen ordentlich, aber nicht mehr. Völlig überteuert (45€ für Kalbsbäckchen). Dazu kommen eng gestellte Tische und eine Gastgeberin, die 10min neben uns stand, sich lautstark mit unserem Nachbartisch unterhielt, so dass es noch enger und lauter war. Aus unserer Flasche Wein wurde uns sporadisch 2x nachgeschenkt, so dass wir dies dann selber taten. Nach Beendigung der Hauptspeise gab es keinen Service mehr. Keine Frage nach Dessert oder weiteren Getränken. Der Höhepunkt: als wir bei der Chefin sehr freundlich anmerkten, dass wir uns unwohl fühlen, gab es als Antwort: „ich entschuldige mich nicht dafür, dass ich mich mit meinen Stammgästen unterhalte“. Gute Gastgeber sehen anders aus. Wer dieses Lokal mit der Henne vergleicht - dann ist das eine Beleidigung für die Henne Weinbar.

Quiet good spot. The stad is very friendly and the location has a nice charme. Their food is fantastic and they serve more as we expect. We had a very good evening over here and can just recoomend that place to others!

Eins meiner Lieblings Restaurants in Köln. Das Essen/Service ist einfach immer on Point. Die Kartoffel und das Dakos ist ein Muss bei jedem Besuch. Und eine super interessante Weinkarte mit tollen weinen aus Griechenland.

Cologne is always worth a visit but after visiting Ouzeria it's a big reason to come to Cologne more. A great shop with a lot of professionalism and love. The employees are all very friendly and always have a smile on their faces. The food, no matter what I tasted, is a harmonious taste explosion that is second to none. The waiter kept explaining what we were getting and the variety and the addition of the ingredients is an amazing experience for the palate. The chef is simply brilliant and at the end he introduced himself to us in a very discreet and friendly manner. My respect for this artist and his team. Top restaurant See you soon.....

Wir hatten mit Freunden einen großartigen Abend in der Ouzeria. Die Küche ist hervorragend, insbesondere wenn man Preis und Leistung bewertet. Es gibt sicher wenig, was den den Guide Michelin derzeit noch davon ab hält, das Ouzeria Team mit einem Stern auszuzeichnen.

Tolles Essen!! Toller Service!! Geräuschkulisse ist aber innen viel zu hoch obwohl schon Schallschlucker unter den Tischen angebracht sind. Hier müssten größere her. Die Qualität der Speisen und die Darbietung ist in manchem 1 Sternerestaurant schlechter. Allerdings sind die Preise im Verhältnis zur Portionsgröße schon grenzwertig. Z.B. 45€ für Kalbsbäckchen in Zwischengangportionsgrösse. Soooo lecker!! Da will man doch mehr von Essen!! Schöne Weinauswahl und sehr freundlicher Service!!

Ouzeria has always been one of my favorite restaurants. The food is still delicious, that hasn't changed, the service is good and friendly. But €17.50 for a starter with 2 asparagus spears... unfortunately I'll be out of that in the future! In general it has become quite expensive for relatively small portions… Offering the risotto, where the burrata would justify a slightly higher price, for €35 is already steep, so we didn't even try it.
