My Curry Wurst in Köln

Frittenbude basically in the middle of Cologne's old town... nothing special... the portions are okay... the service seemed annoyed and the ambience... well... there isn't much of an ambience there and the prices (like almost everywhere these days) totally excessive. Currywurst with fries for just under 10 euros...CREAT!!! ...in the past you wouldn't have paid 20 marks in your life for a "wursch" with jett' ketchup and fries. AWESOME which is now cheaper everywhere in the country. I feel sorry for the people who are forced by completely wrong economic policy to charge such overpriced prices in order to be able to "survive" with their chip shop... and as a customer you think more and more about whether you can afford "something like that" more often. INCREDIBLE...that going out for fries could almost become a luxury...I would NEVER have thought "something like that" was possible.

Currywurst, fries, mayo, delicious.

Great location where you can get your delicious Curry Wurst (and other Imbiss too), even late in the evening. The food is fresh and tasty :-) Importantly, good bottled Kölsch is available alike (which is not the rule in such places). Card payment is possible. Prices are quite average as for the center of Köln and the standard of the cuisine. Highly recommended to visit!! 😀

First time trying currywurst and I’m glad I did! The sausage was tasty, and the thick fries were piping hot and delicious. Service was excellent, and there are plenty of seating options. I appreciated the covered tables for when it rained. Just a heads up: it’s cash only

One of the best currywursts I ever tried + there is a heater in front so you can eat comfortably in front of the fast food.

Fries were unsalted and some were raw. Bratwurst wasn’t cut properly.

Fries and currywurst tasted good. Fries thick, currywurst not so greasy, curry sauce very spicy, overall much better than at "Pommes Imperium" at Heumarkt. But I can't say why they were Belgian fries. Real Belgian fries are fried in beef fat, which I didn't taste here.

Lured by the delicious smell, I ordered curry sausage and fries. I'm always unsure whether the food I don't prepare myself is really tasty and whether the price is worth it. I was very positively surprised here. Everything hot and delicious. I was particularly impressed by the perfectly balanced spiciness of the curry sauce. Only surpassed by fries that were not only fresh, hot and delicious - no - the fries were so hot that you had to be careful not to burn your mouth even with the last fries = far too often you get fries elsewhere that are already being served are only lukewarm - the fries here were so great that I can't remember ever having such perfect fries, except perhaps from my mother. Gladly again!

The vegan curry wurst was amazing!

This place never seems to close, I passed this in the early hours of the morning and it's always open. We had fries late at night here, unfortunately they were far too salty for me and I couldn't eat them.

One of the best currywurst in the area, the place is on the street and although it does not attract attention due to its appearance, the truth is that the food is good.

I’m not a fan of german food, but I found this place excellent. I was searching for a currywurst place until I found it. It was my first time trying it and I loved it. It totally surpassed my expectations. It was extremely cheap, it costed 15€ for two people, which in germany I consider it more than cheap. So quality/price it was a 10.

Sausage delicious, fries very good. Sauce strong and thick. The young man behind the counter was busy and still managed everything well. Card payment with EC card was possible (EDIT: from 5€!!) Great.

A Trip to Germany is only complete if you get to eat Currywurst with Pommes. A traditional German Sausage snack with Curry Ketchup and a side of French Fries. We went to one in the old town of Koeln/ Cologne. Delicious! Make sure you to find a good Currywurst stand and try it if you're travelling within Germany.

Stopped for a quick dinner late at night during my vacation in Koln back in April. The food was amazing and the man who seemed to be the owner warmed my heart when he gave a free meal to a homeless man. Endless respect!

The original German currywurst at a great price. The wurst is cut and dipped in tomato sauce, then generously sprinkled with curry. The flavor is very strong and excellent. Recommended to taste this specialty while walking. Also buy some water.

Overall had a great day in Cologne during the European Championships, however this eatery has doubled the prices and reduced the portions. Of course everything is a little more expensive during an event, but this was exaggerated. 6 euros for a very small bowl of fries. Very stupid owner because when you sell a bowl of fries for 4 euros, you will undoubtedly sell much more. Compared to other places to eat, it was also quieter here.

10€ for the Currywurst XL with fries.. Not even half a sausage, two tablespoons of curry sauce and a handful of mostly limp fries. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately they can't do a big event! Yesterday I ate the worst and most horrible currywurst fries mayonnaise…..only half…The currywurst was cold and half raw. It was conjured up from a large pot. The fries were good! But for a total of €10, far too little of it. Mayo just a small stroke. My complaint was heard but apparently ignored. Unfortunately, many Scottish guests also consumed this meal. I apologize for that in advance. So sorry Scottish friends. But there are far better currywurst in Cologne. I'm really very sorry!

Really lousy place. The food is mediocre, but the person who worked there cheats tourists, by giving back change on the wrong note. The girl at the next table complained about the same thing. Avoid the place!

Read on Google that this was suitable for vegans. They do have a vegan option if asked for but they weren't happy about us asking. The wurst does not come with curry sauce for vegans so if you've landed here looking for a vegan currywurst, I wouldn't bother.

Had high hopes after reading all the positive reviews. But…🥲 The staff seemed unfriendly but I thought maybe the food was good. So I ordered the currywurst and fries anyway. The lady asked if I wanted catchup and mayonnaise, my bad for not clarifying with her, I thought they were free sauces to choose from, turned out they cost extra lol. It felt like a cheap way to get tourists to pay more. Not much extra but the way she asked sounded like they were free… Then the food…the sauce on the sausage was like a diluted sweet catchup sauce. The sausage seemed average. The fries were cut thick and I actually liked them. I won’t visit again.

Did not think I’d find a vegan currywurst, but here it is! Pretty good overall. They’ve even got vegan mayo. Nice place to visit if you’re vegan but still feeling sinful. Great places for a beer just around the corner, too.

We chose this place based on the reviews. The curry wursts are very good, the sauce is not cloying and the fries (homemade) are more than delicious. However, we were surprised when, despite the card payment labels, we were informed that they only took cash. Fortunately (no), a distributor was attached to the store. What was our surprise when we saw on our bank account that the fees were six euros per withdrawal (obviously not notified anywhere)

1. taste is very averaged 2 7.2 euro is overpriced , even comparing to other big cities, not worth at all. 3. sauces will be charged, which is the worst part. Why don't you charge the paper pack and wood stick for other income items???

Mega cool chip shop. A 4th grade class was provided with friendly and free sauces for fries etc. Afterwards we were entertained with a “street disco”. Thank you for this great experience and this great conclusion in Cologne.

The boss is very talkative and the portions are huge! The French fries are crispy and delicious, the sausage has a slightly smoky texture, and the dipping sauce above is sweet and sour. It’s still delicious as a street snack.

Wie sind aus Heidelberg angereist für die Handball EM. Es hat aufgrund des großen Ansturms etwas gedauert aber das essen war qualitativ sehr gut. Die Pommes waren trotz der saußen noch knusprig, die Currywurst war erfolgreich. Eine Empfehlung wenn man in Köln ist für einen kurzen Snack.
