This restaurant offers an incredible dining experience. Each tapas dish was thoughtfully presented in a specific order, starting with lighter flavors and building up to richer, more complex ones. The ingredients used were unique and not commonly found elsewhere, which added a special touch to each dish. The varied cooking techniques, from grilling to braising, created different textures that complemented each other perfectly. For example, the grilled vegetables had a smoky char while the seafood dish had a delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture. Extraordinary! We had dinner here a few weeks ago with four people and everything was on the spot. From the friendly waiter who directly welcomed me and showed me our table even though I arrived 15 minutes early, to the well designed and amazing tasting menu and the good wine pairing. All in all one of my best dining experiences in Berlin.

The dishes are very original and the flavors well worked. All of the food was excellent, with a special mention for the meat-free dishes, including the Jerusalem artichoke and mushroom with egg yolk. However, the strong smell and smoke emanating from the open kitchen dampened the experience. Our coats, which we were forced to give to the waiter, ended up stuck to the kitchen and we left with them, saturated with a strong smell. Unpleasant.

I deeply appreciate and strongly believe in the concept behind restaurants like Otto. We had an incredible evening. Impeccable service, an extremely pleasant atmosphere, outstanding wines, and truly remarkable food. Honestly, it’s hard to pick a favorite dish, but the beetroot was simply beyond words! The bread is fantastic, and the butter and pickled vegetables are equally delightful. The desserts are just as clever and delicious. I’ll definitely be back! Keep up the amazing work! The food was delicious, with the chef’s dishes truly impressing. However, be prepared for the cramped seating when you choose “Kitchen corner” option: either squeezed between strangers or tucked beside a plant, or others brush past you to the bathroom. The open-fire cooking is an experience, but the equipment’s condition does affect the taste, leaving a strange aftertaste in some dishes. Also, expect additional charges for bread and water, adding nearly 10 euros to your bill. Despite all this, the service was pleasant, and the food still stood out.

Basado en una recomendación de un chef - amigo, visitamos Otto situado en un barrio agradable en Berlín. (Vaya temprano y camine alrededor.) Lugar muy pequeño, íntimo con un menú de fijación de premios. Algunas combinaciones muy interesantes, todas exquisitamente presentadas y descritas por el servidor. Ingredientes frescos (algunos de su propio jardín) todos presentados como platos pequeños para dos para compartir. Si tuviera que elegir mi última comida, sería la alcachofa de Jerusalén con beurre blanc y avellanas. No puedo recomendar este lugar más altamente.

Nuestro restaurante por defecto cuando buscamos cocina enfocada y muy local en Berlín siempre ha sido Nobelhart y Schmutzig, pero después de una reciente experiencia sin brillo allí, optamos por probar Otto's. Una gran elección, ya que cada plato que tuvimos fue perfectamente manejado; los productos eran excepcionales y los sabores "cantaron". Real finura desde la cocina. . . . los pimientos y el plato de tahini un sobresaliente. Platos compartidos significa que ambos vimos una sección transversal del menú. Los tamaños de las porciones individuales son pequeños, pero la sugerencia de los camareros de 4 - 6 platos era apropiada. Los postres también son excelentes. If you appreciate what this restaurant is trying to achieve then you'll love it here. The atmosphere: It's a small neighbourhood bistro, so expect to sit really close to others and probably sandwiched between tables. This just adds to the charm. You'll be served by the front-of-the-house team and the chefs. It just depends on who isn't busy at the time. It's relaxed service for weekday dinners. The food: Small plates designed to share with whoever you are dining with and dishes led by what is in season. We had 5 plates plus the pickles & bread which seemed like it was enough for 2 of us. Interesting dishes with great flavours. The beetroot and pepper were standout dishes, which is saying a lot from two committed carnivores. The food arrives when it arrives. Overall: a relaxed neighbourhood bistro with great plates of food.

These were some of the most thoughtfully prepared dishes we’ve ever had with great focus on local ingredients and inspiration from regional foods. Normally we go to restaurants and there’s one favourite dish but in this case we had trouble deciding! Sorry in advance to readers who won’t get to eat what we had but whatever you get will be great. The bread, koji butter, and pickled roasted tomatillo/onion were great. The pepper and sunflower tahini dish was very seasonal with a smoky gently spicy paprika oil. The trout escabeche and tomato-gooseberry-nasturtium salad had perfect salt and acid balance and you could taste the seasonal locality of the ingredients. Next, the mutton was excellent, dry aged and seared perfectly with brown butter outside and rare on the inside, with charred fat reminiscent of Kobe beef. The beet dish lives up to the hype in the reviews, with great texture from dehydration beforehand and slow cooking. Lastly the two desserts were excellent with the very fun final touch of a blowtorched spoon being used to burn an indent in the top of the meringue. We got to sit at the “chefs table” or kitchen counter, and saw everything being prepared to order. Super nice service and professional kitchen staff! Note we got a last minute reservation so do recommend getting in the waitlist if needed.

Estos fueron algunos de los platos más cuidadosamente preparados que hemos probado con gran enfoque en ingredientes locales e inspiración de alimentos regionales. Normalmente vamos a restaurantes y hay un plato favorito, pero en este caso tuvimos problemas para decidir! Lo siento de antemano a los lectores que no van a llegar a comer lo que teníamos, pero lo que sea que obtenga será genial. El pan, la mantequilla koji y el tomate / cebolla asados encurtidos estaban geniales. El plato de tahini de pimienta y girasol era muy estacional con un aceite de pimentón suavemente picante ahumado. El escabeche de trucha y la ensalada de tomate - grosella de oca - nasturtium tenían un equilibrio salino y ácido perfecto y se podía saborear la localidad estacional de los ingredientes. A continuación, el cordero era excelente, envejecido en seco y abrasado perfectamente con mantequilla marrón por fuera y raro por dentro, con grasa carbonizada que recuerda a la carne de vacuno de Kobe. El plato de remolacha está a la altura del bombo en las críticas, con una gran textura de la deshidratación de antemano y cocción lenta. Por último, los dos postres fueron excelentes con el toque final muy divertido de una cuchara soplete que se utiliza para quemar una muesca en la parte superior del merengue. Tuvimos que sentarnos en la “mesa de chefs” o en la encimera de la cocina, y vimos todo preparado para ordenar. Servicio muy agradable y personal de cocina profesional! The place is extremely small, and the portion sizes are just too tiny. If you’re hungry, this is definitely not the place to go as you’ll leave feeling unsatisfied. While the food tasted nice, it’s hard to enjoy your meal when you’re practically sitting elbow-to-elbow with strangers. The lack of personal space made the experience uncomfortable. What made the experience even worse was that, despite having a reservation, we were initially seated inside, practically sharing the table with others due to how cramped it was. Then, when it was time for dessert, we were told someone else needed our table and were asked to move outside. We ended up eating an expensive dessert on a tiny round table in the street, which felt incredibly uncomfortable and disappointing.

The food was really great! Innovative, with great ingredients and lots of unexpected flavors! Unfortunately we found the service to be quite poor. No fresh plates between courses, no fresh glasses when changing wine and a table that was unfortunately slobbered by the service staff but not cleaned. It had more of a corner pint charm, which didn't suit the upscale food and ambience for us. Nevertheless, it was a nice evening and we will come back. We fully recommend the food and we would be happy to be impressed by the service next time.

We went with high expectations to OTTO and we had a great time and dinner there! We decided on the shared chef's menu and it was absolutely delicious. Could be a hit or miss for the secret dishes tho (for example there was a nice dish mainly about tomatoes and I don’t eat them) so a little preview of the pre-selected dishes with maybe an option to change would be nice. The price we paid was worth it for the experience, the quality and we went for a special occasion - we’ll come again!

What an amazing experience was to try Otto. This was my first time in Berlin and I was looking forward to the great food offerings in town - Otto for sure was the best one. We had the menu a la carte and tried a great orange wine with our dinner. The food was excellent (highly highly recommend the beetroot and the tomatoes). The wine was called GM and it paired perfectly with the plates. For desert we ordered the yoghurt ice cream - also excellent. We sat inside, the service and atmosphere were also great. Will definitely want to come back.

Great little gourmet restaurant with local ingredients and personal service. I recommend taking the menu created by the chef. It offers unforgettable, often surprising compositions at a fair price (€62 per person). It was fun to share the courses. I particularly recommend this restaurant if you want to fast. 25 mins sitting with no service, no water and not even an apology. I understand it’s a neighborhood restaurant and the “bar” should be low for service in Berlin, but this one takes more of a contortion than a lambada.

No puede faltar este establecimiento, cocina asegurada a servicio asegurado. Ubicado en el mejor tramo de Oderberger Str, Otto tiene una gran energía cuando entras, desde la cocina hasta la parte delantera de la casa. Todos se meten y todos saben lo que están haciendo. Empezó en 2019 se abrió paso a través de la pandemia y salió al otro lado trasladando algunos de sus platos para llevar - lejos al menú actual. La invención en los platos pequeños es tan refrescante. Las opciones de vino también fueron excelentes, desde el espumoso Jura hasta los blancos austriacos. Platos destacados fueron : La Remolacha, baya de sloe, labneh, mantequilla marrón (la Remolacha fue deshidratada y rehidratada antes de ser cocinada. Plato sublime. Postre con aspecto de champiñón: merengue, melaza de nuez, helado de yogur. Otros aspectos destacados : la acedera francesa con el calabacín; el tahini y la vinagreta de miel con el pimiento; el cuello de cerdo; la ensalada lateral de Kohlrabi con la trucha. Si hiciera un comentario crítico, sería fácil volver tan ligeramente sobre la sal, especialmente en el plato Brook Trout. Excepto por eso... No cambies nada excepto seguir re-inventando y haciendo lo que haces. En una palabra, encantador.

So , as overall, experience was good . Strong sides is service with is amazing, very helpful, warm and professional, explaining each served dish , talking about served wine . Design and location of the restaurant is nice as well . We had a table outside but inside tables are extremely close to each other. Pre booking highly advised. Food … hmmm , strong point is that restaurant has own farm and they grow own vegetables. You can feel in on a plate that everything is fresh . We had high expectations but some of the dishes are really good , like pepper 🌶️, some are really amazing and are big surprise as beetroot, and some are big disappointing as zucchini, with was to hot/ spicy killing all other taste. I had a boar 🐗 as well with was good . Total experience is good but wow factor missing when you try some is served dishes.

Some very amazing food and some slightly less impressive food. Overall it’s a very nice place to celebrate an occasion but a bit overpriced. We paid 180€ for two. Bread, pickles and pepper were absolutely amazing. The beetroots a great surprise! We found the tomatoes, lamb and trout a bit more disappointing. It lacked creativity and for the price, we expected more. All meals were visually beautiful. Overall a good experience with many positive surprises. Friendly service, we had a nice evening.

A fantastic meal. As I by myself I sat at the counter so I could watch and chat to the chefs. The menu was great, so many options and all looked great. I chose two from the menu (pepper and fish) plus the lamb special, finally went with the yoghurt ice cream desert. All were superb, great flours and excellent balance. A great little wines by the glass list which had some lovely selections. Recommended

The restaurant is a true gem! Excellent food is served here, prepared with great attention to detail. All products come from the region and are perfect for sharing, which makes enjoying the food together a special experience. The concept of the menu is great (minimal style, local ingredients), but the food quality and flavor is not that special. The staff is a tad rude / not that professional. Tip for the staff: If customers want to be bullied about not speaking German, they'll rather go to Finanzamt for free instead of going to Otto to be roasted in between watery tomato salad and 14 euro lentil cracker. Minimal, industrial lovers; the place looks beautiful. And so does the plating of the food. Our group sat on the table by the window. The window seating is good for fastfood place where you spent 30minutes. But Otto shouldn't offer the windowsill as a seating. It's just uncomfortable. Overall: you'll find less hyped places that offer better quality of food, atmosphere and service.

Very Nice dinner experience at Otto. The menu consisted of 9-10 dishes based on local produced ingrediens + 3 dessert options. You are adviced to choose 3-4 dishes per person or a chiefs menu is also available. Only 3 wines available on glass. We went for the orange wine that suited all the dishes we chose Well. The staff was friendly and the food was Good. Vel prepared high quality ingredienses. We enjoyed the minimalistic approach of the dishes and the exciting taste combinations. The local is very small so be prepared to sit close to the next table. I would prefer a more spacious interior but we felt that the food, wine and overall experience was definetly worth the somewhat crammed feeling.

An incredible experience! We sat at the counter with a privileged view of the kitchen, which I highly recommend. The chef helped us choose the dishes and described each one enthusiastically. We started with bread and butter, then veal (incredible!! super tasty), chicory salad (fresh and crunchy), special of the day trout croquettes (freshly made, stuffed to perfection), mushrooms (so simple and so good), chicken (still puzzled by the cooking method used). We finished with two desserts, the delicious Madeleine with a mix of textures and flavors and the Yogurt ice cream with toasted merengue. Best restaurant experience in Berlin! (Forgot to take photos to all dishes, couldn't wait)

Very special experience, great service, perfect food and incredibly friendly service. If there aren't any tables available when you want to go put your name on the email list there seem to be quite a few tables that open up! Also note the menu is very veggie friendly, we aren't veggies but ended up eating a mostly vegetarian meal by accident.

We sat at the kitchen counter. From the moment we sat, the service was impeccable. It was fun watching the cooking taking place, and the food was amazing. Incredible variety, excellent meatless dishes but also superb boar special and fileted brook trout! The dessert yummy as well with yogurt ice cream and italian meringue. Staff were warm and friendly. The price was incredibly reasonable for the quality of the food. What more can we say. Just go!

We arrived for our 6pm reservation, placed our order, received our drinks and 1 dish. Then, we watched for nearly an hour while multiple other tables that arrived after us received their food and left. Our server brought several dishes to the table next to ours. When we let our server know we were leaving, she asked us what was wrong. Maybe the food’s good but we’ll never know. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can't agree with the great reviews from the predecessors. Too cramped, you almost sit in the wine fridge, tables so small that plates and glasses barely fit on them, the food was good but the price was too high, loud music - it's difficult to have a comfortable conversation. And 9 euros for a bottle of bottled water?? I don't recommend it.

Fantastic food. We had the chef's menu. The portions are sufficient and excellently balanced. As a deduction I have to say that the wines do not correspond to the price and are primarily natural wines. This is not everyone's case. We'll definitely go to Otto again because of the good food

Ganz außergewöhnliche Möglichkeit um in Berlin gut und unprätentiös essen zu gehen. Kleines Restaurant mit einzelnen Speisen und großer weinauswahl (hauptsächlich DE, A, FR). Was visiting Berlin for a week for some culinary experiences. Took me some days to research and make a list of places I wanted to eat in. Otto was one of those places that were recommended in most of my research. Expectations were high. That’s definitely the first mistake you shouldn’t make when you approach a restaurant for the first time. Anyway fact of the matter: -We were 2 people we got two 5 course menu for 60 euro each. We get 5 dishes yes of course but 5 dishes to divide in 2. Quantity to divide was ridiculous. -we expect at least to eat some nicest dishes that was wrote on the menu a la carte (of course not) we only had the steam trout served as you can see on the picture with very poorly presentation with a mizuna leaves on top .. Not Venison or wild boar n’dujia only vegetarian dishes. -Service was not the greatest, wine was poured on our glasses and on our table too. No one came to clean the table. -Big up only for one of the dishes the Jerusalem artichoke, unfortunately was only a baby bite each. -Overall, one of the overrated hipster place that are opening right now in Berlin. IBetter to avoid and go around the corner to get the best hand pulled noodles I ever had in my life at Weng Chang 2. Of course this is my opinion ;) Price we pay for 2 120 menu - 35 bottle of wine - 18 two extra glasses of wine = 173 We got back home and cook a pasta. I’m sorry 8(otto) but my vote for you is 2.

First michellin guide suggestion that has been disappointing. To start, the place is extremely small and everyone is as tight as they could be. I can bear this but on top there wasn't good ventilation so it was full of smoke from the fish they were grilling. Regarding the food, it's just not up to the standards of michellin guide, flavours aren't anything new or interesting. They are huge advocates of natural wine and, even tho I'm not fan, I just don't think their suggestions were good according to the food we had.

Unexpected & great The Otto combines a journey through the outskirts of Berlin with trips back to our own childhood! #Pikeperch in rusk crust! Unexpected, yet outstanding - unique flavors with Japanese influences. Regional products, great wines and a feel-good atmosphere make Otto in Berlin one of my top 3 restaurants in Germany. Nice little restaurant that try to use only local products. We had the sample menu, 60€ per person. They helped us with pairing wine and both the food and the wine really hit home. We sat at the counter as I really like peeking into the kitchen. Would definitely go again without any hesitation.

We had such a lovely experience at otto. The restaurant is quite small, but that adds to the overall atmosphere. The staff was very welcoming and professional. We had the chef’s set menu and were pleasantly surprised. They succeeded well in combining flavours and the steamed trout was a real showstopper. I would definitely like to return to have some of that trout again!

Very disappointing experience. We were charged $300 for a miscommunication. We made a reservation and then immediately reached out to ask to change the time to join another friend with an earlier reservation. The restaurant responded to clarify, but after we responded, we never heard back and then left for our trip. When they never responded, I was not diligent about following-up. As such, I did not cancel in advance of my reservation. I was charged the full $300 cancelation fee. Given the size of the charge, I reached out hoping for a more modest compromise, but Otto was completely inflexible, unwilling to accept any responsibility for not responding, nor willing to compromise on the amount. I sadly wasn't able to try the restaurant.

Otto was greaaaaaat - had we made it off the waitlist we would have happily gone two days in a row. Don’t miss the beet dish on offer right now, we spooned every last drop of that sauce and it now lives in my mind rent-free. Tiny place we weren’t too comfortable at the counter it was so high off the ground our feet got numb 😅 Buttttt glad we got the chance to dine here. Team was aces, from the chefs to the front of house. Otto has something really special going.

Tiny restaurant with plenty of atmosphere between Kastanienalle and Schönhauser Allee. All of the dishes were delicious and there were no disappointments. We didn’t go for the chef‘s menu and instead chose a selection of starters, main, and deserts, which ended up price-wise in the same range as the tasting menu. Everything from the service, to the dishes and the ingredients, plus the wines was close to perfect. We have wished there was a larger selection of starters to choose from, but otherwise otto is a place we‘ll definitely visit again.

So far we've "only" had lunch several times, but that alone is of the highest quality and at €9.90 (including good espresso) it's actually way too cheap. The chef absolutely knows what he's doing, the service is quick, attentive and friendly, and the ambience is rather fine, but at the same time relaxed and nice. The open kitchen (without smells spreading into the dining room) also contributes a lot to the comfort and atmosphere. You definitely have to go there in the evenings, even if the prices are significantly higher. But since the cooking there is very good, that's appropriate. That's why again: Thanks for the affordable and always great lunch! We appreciate that . UPDATE July 29th, 2024: unfortunately now permanently closed without notice! Restaurant was being emptied by people I didn't know as I walked past. When I asked, this was confirmed. If I understood that correctly, this also comes as a surprise to the previous operators, who 10 days ago only took the vacation that was usual at the time and was also announced. I'll update if anything changes.

The food is delicious, but the visuals make you a bit reluctant to go in from the outside. Cards are not accepted, only cash is accepted. Considering the 5 euro fee for withdrawing cash outside, I ended up paying more for the meal.
