Osteria Ribaltone in Berlin

A perfect evening, delicious food, and attentive service. We felt completely at home. Cash only, which we were told when we made our reservation. Highly recommend the burrata with caponata.

We went for pasta dinner, and upon arrival we were told they were cash only. The menu lists only four options. We chose lasagna and linguine with Genoa pesto, and the manager suggested tagliatelle with ragu sauce. The only detail they never explained to me was how spicy they made it; I couldn't eat it. When I told him I wasn't used to spicy food, he suggested I change dishes with my partner, which was very confusing. We ordered red wine by the glass; it wasn't good wine, and water. It was €65, which was expensive for the quality and service.

We found ourselves in Italy, in Berlin. Authentic Italian cuisine, run by Italians. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food was excellent. In addition to the menu, there are specials of the day. I highly recommend it.

FANTASTIC food and the most delicious wine in a long time. It's busy, buzzing with life, the tables are close together, Italian is spoken from one end of the restaurant to the other. It's really going well. Make sure to book a table if you want to be sure of getting a seat. When you've actually decided and are ready to order, you'll be listed with the other options for the day - so you'll have to keep your mouth shut to keep up. We'll definitely be back, and will always recommend the restaurant to anyone who loves Italian food and atmosphere. 07.08.25: back again 🙂

The truffle pasta alone is a treat. I've never had anything bad with it. And the staff is super friendly. The atmosphere inside and out is simply fantastic!

The outdoor terrace at Viktoria-Luise-Platz is lovely, but I find the interior far too cramped, too loud, and too dark. The service is very friendly and communicative. The food is decent.

Unfortunately the meatballs we had with our pasta (which was very salty) were only half cooked and visibly still raw. When mentioned to the server they said it shouldn’t be like that but instead of apologising or offering replacement ones he just tried to justify it instead and said this happens with meatballs. We were told we had the table for an hour when we arrived. We asked for the bill twice and after waiting for 15 minutes the manager came and just pointed at his watch indicating we had to leave and rushing us out while we were still waiting to pay. All in all a disappointing experience especially when it is very expensive considering the standard of food and service.

I love going here for special occasions. Full of life, with great service and a pleasant, down-to-earth atmosphere. The food is fantastic; I had the very best pumpkin lasagna here, which I always remember when I'm hungry.

Highly recommended! Indoor and outdoor seating, lovely neighborhood, authentic Italian cuisine, high-quality ingredients, and consistently attentive service. We'll definitely be back!

Very familiar atmosphere, for a few hours of "Viva Italia"

The food was truly excellent and exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately, the service wasn't consistently of the same high standard. While the service improved over the course of the evening, one member of staff seemed somewhat listless and uninviting when presenting the daily specials. Another colleague, wearing glasses, seemed very arrogant and unprofessional, both when serving our table and the table next to us. It's a shame that the impressive culinary standards were somewhat tarnished by this service.

Osteria Ribaltone is highly recommended. As soon as you arrive here, it feels like a taste of southern Italy. Good food, delicious wine, lemon soda! What more could you want? I had the truffle pasta, which was amazing. Fresh, homemade pasta with a delicious, creamy Parmesan sauce. Topped with plenty of fresh truffles. My companion had something from the daily special, which is highly recommended. The menu isn't long, but there are a few dishes, but they're all amazing! But I was particularly enchanted by the mascarpone with strawberries. Wow. I've never tasted such delicious mascarpone cream. And the fresh strawberries... heavenly. A reservation is recommended, as the restaurant gets busy! The restaurant isn't exactly cheap, but it's definitely fair for what you get. The service was good, fast, and attentive.

Even after many years, you'll still find a traditional and down-to-earth restaurant for all lovers of Italian cuisine, the likes of which are few and far between. The restaurant is highly recommended for its culinary offerings, constantly setting new standards, and promising an eventful Italian evening.

A complete disaster for us. The food was completely tasteless – no seasoning, just nothing. A 0.2-liter glass of wine for €11 is almost outrageous. Price transparency? None. No proper menu, either on-site or online. Our waiter was also in a bad mood and noticeably pushy – he constantly tried to pressure us into ordering more, even though we had clearly indicated that we didn't want anything else. Our table neighbors were also visibly disappointed – so we were definitely not the only ones. We can't understand the many positive reviews, even with the best will in the world.

A cozy, trendy restaurant overlooking the beautifully landscaped Viktoria-Luise-Platz. Prices are mid-range. Friendly, but careless staff. They charged me for two beers, which I had ordered, but only served me one. Only after repeated requests was my thirst quenched. Unfortunately, the lasagna was burnt. My companion's pizza dough was too salty. The waitress accepted their apology. They consoled me with a delicious grappa.

Nice atmosphere and friendly people. What was good was 90 percent of the food quality. The rest was terrible from start to finish: - we were given the wrong water - we were asked 5 times during the aperitif if we wanted to order - we ordered two dishes to share, one after the other – this was ignored and they all came together. - the plates took ages to clear - the polite 15 minutes by which the bill arrived were well over. Conclusion: no waiter knows what the other is doing, the pinsa was burnt for 15.50 euros, and the wine prices are outrageous. Never again for me.

Highly recommended! A genuine alternative with 100% Italian cuisine. The prices are a bit steeper, but quality has its price. It's worth it! The service loses one point, as unfortunately, they only accept cash and no card payments. This is absolutely incomprehensible these days and should be banned by now. But hey, we're used to that in Berlin, unfortunately.

A place where, when you open the door and step inside, you can feel as if you are in Italy, the atmosphere, the décor bring back Italian memories. Plus authentic Italian cuisine, which is delicious. In addition to the dishes on the menu, there are additional positions presented by the waiter. We ordered a seasonal starter, a main course from the menu and a dessert. Each dish was perfect. In addition, we were recommended a very good wine! It's worth going to this place to celebrate a special occasion, in my case it was my birthday.

Auf jeden Fall eine ganz klare Empfehlung! Probieren Sie auf jeden Fall das Tiramisu des Hauses, was in einer Espresso-Kanne serviert wird.

A restaurant where you simply have to feel good – there is no other way! The service is exceptionally warm and the cuisine is first class. You can immediately feel that the owner is a passionate restaurateur who knows his craft. Tip: Be sure to reserve in advance, as the restaurant is fully booked almost every day! We have now become regular guests - for us it is the best Italian restaurant in Berlin and Brandenburg!

The food wasn't great for that price. You can eat much better elswhere for half the price. The staff was talking about the visitors very badly. The didn't novice that we can speak Italian. They don't want any tourist to come. Shame on you.

Certainly an institution in the neighborhood, apparently lots of regulars. The shop is very narrow and extremely loud, which can also be described as “quaint”. But overall it's annoying: the "boss" rattles off the daily specials at the table, there's hardly anything on the menu - prices are not transparent. The service is unpleasantly intrusive and unprofessional (I know that there are guests who appreciate this, but when the waiter has bad breath and feels like he's shouting in your ear, distance is desirable). Last but not least, the food: absolutely average, nothing more - e.g. T. served on chipped plates. All of this at prices that are completely inflated. In the end, farewell to the regular guests….

It's the second time that I visited this restaurant & the quality has remained superb. The waiter will inform you of the daily specials which are quite a big selection (in addition to their regular menu). Everything we ordered was amazingly flavourful. Made reservation via email.

I said that I don't eat meat and can't tolerate dairy products, so they brought me fish, which I don't eat either. For me, fish counts as meat and it was simply a mistake in communication. The waiter then shouted at me, told me several times that fish is not meat (yes, after the third time I actually understood it)... it was totally uncomfortable in the crowded restaurant and I just wanted to cry. I still got something to eat and it was delicious, but it's just not possible to shout at your customers and put them down in a full restaurant

Das Essen war eine Katastrophe! Wir waren am 2. November zu viert in der Osteria Ribaltone und keine der vier servierten Hauptspeisen war das Geld wert. Die Überheblichkeit und Unprofessionalität der Kellner passte zur miserablen Qualität. Allenfalls ein Getränk im Außenbereich würde ich hier noch bestellen.

Didn't reserve. The place was full. The boss had a table lined up for the four of us... and five minutes later the time had come. If you want to look quietly into the eyes of your loved one, you should go somewhere else. Life is pulsating here, you wonder how the team manages to transport so many good dishes safely to the cramped tables and so many drinks to the place without spilling. And top quality served in cheerful serenity, happy faces at the tables. Nothing more is needed...

One of the best Italian restaurants we've ever been to! The food is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. What we liked best was the homely and friendly atmosphere. You feel like you are in Italy for a moment. Definitely a clear recommendation! Be sure to try the house tiramisu, which is served in an espresso pot.

I recently had the opportunity to eat at an Italian restaurant and overall it was a very pleasant experience. The Italian cuisine was really tasty and the food came surprisingly quickly, which is always a plus. The first waiter and the older one were super nice and open-minded. Despite the location being fully booked, he managed to organize a spot for us, which I really appreciated. The food was delicious, although I would have liked the bolognese with more sauce. However, it is also completely okay to serve it differently - after all, tastes are different. A small drawback was the waiting time for our espresso. Despite asking various waiters several times, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes, while the main course was served after only about 5 minutes. This was a bit annoying, but not enough to spoil the overall impression. I would definitely come back and recommend the restaurant!

Authentic, warm and lively. Happy place in a beautiful location with a very good day menu. The pasta dishes have a soul food character, whether truffle pasta, cacio e pepe or, in winter, pizzoccheri.

Food was solid (vitello, lamb ragú). Bread was dry. Personally, I think there are better spots for the prices.

four out of four people at the dinner party described this as the worst service and dining experience they ever had. after we had to help the staff make room for the mains they brought while we were having firsts, I had to argue with the waiter to put our deserts somewhere else when he showed up with them while I was chewing on my main. We ended up getting kicked out of the terrace into the small and smelly inside. We asked our deserts to go so we can get out of there and they packed them but didnt have any spoons for us. food was below average and pricy. the nearby square is lovely but do yourself a favor and pack a picnic and stay away from this place
