The gyro was completely dry, the fries (made from fresh potatoes) were greasy and utterly soggy, there was a tiny dollop of tzatziki that looked like bread spread, half a tomato and a few onion rings, and for that €14.90 it was completely overpriced for something that really wasn't good.

One of the most beautiful and delicious restaurants in northern Germany.. as a resident of the country I have visited the place many times and with absolute honesty I can say that each time I am more surprised than the last.. polite staff.. beautiful place.. all the dishes are made with love and it shows!! the closest thing to Greece I have eaten...

As a Greek visitor to Hanover, I felt like I was back home! The restaurant offers authentic Greek flavors, perfectly cooked and with excellent quality meats. The portions are generous, the environment is warm and friendly, and the staff is very kind – truly Greek hospitality abroad. A place worth visiting for every lover of good cuisine and Greece!

Unfortunately, they've only been accepting cash payments for some time now. The food is like you'd find in an average Greek taverna. Tasty, but not outstanding. Fries are fresh, but probably not double-fried. On the other hand, the appetizers are outstanding and well-priced.

We haven't had such good Greek food in a long time. We'll be back.

Last weekend, I was there for the fourth time in a year. On a Sunday lunchtime, with just six guests, we had to wait almost an hour for our food. Meanwhile, the server (owner?) at the next table chatted away cheerfully the whole time instead of doing his job. After 45 minutes, my companion's plate arrived, with the comment that the souvlaki skewer would be coming later. It arrived, completely oversalted and with a musty smell. Definitely no fresh meat anymore. We didn't eat it either. The saganaki, which cost just under 10 euros, wasn't even homemade. The lamb was completely overcooked, and the gyro was burned. When we pointed out all the problems, there wasn't even an apology. The best part was the tzatziki. For two meals and two drinks, plus the tzatziki and the saganaki, we paid a whopping €65. If the quality were right, I'd be willing to pay that. But not like this, it's a shame we won't be going there again.

Greek food in a spacious location with great views. It's next to the bus and train station. The main location has a greenhouse-like side area and an outdoor terrace for when the weather is nice. Very good, high-quality food. The grilled meat is sold by the piece, and you can mix it to your liking. The service is very friendly.

Finally, a real Greek restaurant, the kind you'd expect from your vacation—and not the typical "German-Greek" restaurants. The food is fresh, authentic, and simply delicious. The prices are also absolutely fair; you really get quality for your money here. The staff is super friendly, attentive, and creates a truly warm atmosphere. We felt completely at home and will definitely be back!

Terrible service. I've been here four times now, and the last time I was told I had to wait 40 minutes—which was fine with me. But after 40 minutes, the employee told me they were out of gyros! When I politely asked her why she made me wait, she responded rudely and rudely. Simply catastrophic service!

Absolutely not possible... I specifically checked the opening hours online, and it's open at 12 p.m. It's a 45-minute drive from the city center, the opposite way from home. Arrived at 1 p.m. A terse comment: oh, they're opening later now, maybe around 2 p.m. And you travel so far for that? Thanks, but nobody needs such unreliable shops. I've gotten used to the unfriendliness, but the service has gotten worse and worse. We'd rather find a new regular Greek restaurant.

This was our first time ordering food there, as the many (purchased?) reviews spoke for themselves. Unfortunately, it was by far the worst gyro and souvlaki we've ever eaten. The souvlaki tasted like neck steak and consisted only of fatty meat, and the skewer wasn't made of tender pieces like usual, but rather of very small cubes of neck steak placed on a skewer. Unfortunately, I can't say anything better about the gyro. The fries were unfortunately underneath the fatty gyro and souvlaki, which made them completely soggy and not crispy at all. They were also completely greasy and wobbly, probably because they were underneath the meat. (See photos) I didn't taste any seasoning on the fries either. The tzatziki was okay, but unfortunately, the onion was also in oil... I would have preferred to send the food back. In addition, you can only pay in cash there (or so we were told). Unusual and strange for today's times.

First and last time I ordered food there, the souvlaki was greasy and greasy, and it was placed over the fries, which made them soggy and greasy as well! The food is now going in the trash. Never had such bad Greek food!

The prices are exorbitantly high; portions for 21 euros for 4 skewers and 4 cevapcici came with no bread and were salty. The skewers were small. The portions on the side look generous, but in reality, they aren't. Hospitality 👎. No greeting. Never again. Not deserved a star.

Came over spontaneously late in the afternoon on the holiday. We bridged the waiting time until the gyros skewer was ready with the mixed appetizer platter. These and the main courses were very tasty and plentiful. Beautifully prepared and originally Greek. The staff was nice and explained from the start that there would be a waiting time because the skewers had just been put on. Background music typically Greece! A holiday mood arose. Prices are appropriate given the good quality of the food. There are also typical Greek dishes that are not available in other restaurants. But we missed the tomato rice. It's probably not typically Greek.

We were brought the wrong dish and ended up giving it free with the actual order before it would be thrown away. The food is really very good, the location is a little out of the way and inconspicuous, but always worth a visit!

Gyros were good, souflaki and suzuki were acceptable (a matter of taste, of course), and instead of lettuce there were a few slices of tomatoes. Star deduction for the fries; There were four of us at the table and we all had the so-called mud fries. We suspected that the frying oil wasn't hot enough.

Absolutely recommended. Real authentic Greek with real Greek food, not like most pseudo Greeks with Metaxa and Hollandaise sauce. I've been there 3 times so far and will definitely come again. Addendum: I've been there countless times and have always been very happy with the quality and have brought many friends, acquaintances and relatives over the years who are all very happy. Unfortunately, it has now become extremely expensive, so expensive that my pain threshold has now been reached. From now on I will only come rarely, if at all. As a result, I unfortunately had to correct my rating downwards because the price/performance ratio deteriorated as a result. It's a shame, it's my absolute favorite Greek in terms of taste.

If you want real traditional Greek food, this is the place for you! Simply the best Greek in Hanover. This is what we know from Greece. Always a pleasure. We love it here. Be sure to try the Kolongithakia as a starter. Super tasty. The atmosphere is just like in Greece in the restaurants. I would give even more stars!

I've lived here for a good 3 years but unfortunately I've never picked up or eaten anything here before.. picked something up today.. it was totally uncomplicated and very friendly when picking it up. Food itself was very good.. Good portion.. We'd love to come visit next time. See you soon

Best Greek restaurant I've been to so far and I come back several times a year. The food is delicious and fresh. The service is friendly and smiling. A location with atmosphere, easy parking, and in summer you can even sit outside in the garden. Absolutely recommended!

We sat in this Greek restaurant in the evening hours. After a long car ride we were ready to get something warm. Food was good. You cannot pay by card here, so make sure you pin in advance. And we got coffee for free... This restaurant was worth tipping!

Mega tasty, definitely worth a visit. Here you can find Greek specialties that are not canned. After the meal there is usually a small treat and an ouzo on the house.

Staff nice, but understaffed. Ambience nice. Conclusion: It's a shame that friends' recommendation was so wrong. I won't go there again and won't recommend it to others.

Today in August 2024 I completely changed my 5 star rating!! The food is no longer as good as it was six months ago. Tzatziki was warm. Fries are flaky, the gyros have no seasoning and the house ouzo is served warm. We won't come more again.I left here today with a bad feeling. It's a shame, we often drove here from the other end of the city.

Yesterday, me, my wife and my sister wanted to eat at the Grillhaus on the recommendation of friends. Since we are restaurateurs ourselves, we arrived shortly before the kitchen closed and were still warmly welcomed. We ate pita and it was simply incredibly tasty and we will definitely come and eat it again and recommend it to everyone!! Thank you and keep it up!

The gyros are incredibly delicious! The best gyros I've ever eaten! However, I picked it up (it was pre-ordered), so I can't say much about the ambience, but I saw when I picked it up that it looked very nice.

Good, freshly prepared, typical Greek food, rustic ambience (warning: the first visual impression when walking in from the outside can be irritating), tables inside and outside (reservation advisable), reasonable, rather cheap prices for German standards (yesterday 72€ (80€) for 3 adults including drinks and coffee). Very friendly employees. Good parking directly in front of the restaurant, Hannover Stöcken S-Bahn station a three-minute walk. I would like to visit the restaurant again; recommended…

I can't understand the hype for this restaurant. I had a Suflaki skewer, with fries and tzatziki. The skewer was very manageable! 4 mini pieces of meat, the homemade fries were limp and greasy. The tzatziki was ok, the pita bread was so-so. Definitely the first and last time for me.

Very rustic furnishings. It's just a tavern, so everything is within limits. Food (lamb chop, gyros and souvlaki, with farmer's salad) was plentiful and deliciously seasoned. The original oregano from Greece tastes really great. Unfortunately, the outdoor seating is right next to the train. I think it should be pretty warm in the restaurant when the sun is out. But the food is definitely recommended.

Oregano has consistently offered consistently high quality for years. The starter platter is a poem (there is also an ouzo). The service is attentive and very nice. The ambience only suffers from the surroundings, which take some getting used to, between a parking lot and the last stop of the tram. However, that makes getting there easy ;-).

We had a small wedding celebration here on May 19, 2024. After a little uncertainty when making the reservation by telephone in advance, everything went really well! Our wishes regarding the menu design were fulfilled to our complete satisfaction. The food tasted excellent. The staff was very friendly and always filled our orders quickly. Unforeseen situations were responded to quickly and flexibly. The restaurant is clean and invitingly cozy. It was a bit of a shame that the outside area wasn't usable. At this point we would like to thank the entire Oregano team once again.
