Outrageous prices for mid (at best) quality. One of those "trendy" places, that always leaves me wondering why people seem to prioritise looks/vibe over quality of food and drinks. And personally, by my standards, also the vibe is tacky and garish and not polished at all. I would say, perhaps ok-ish to get a drink outside on the pavement in summertime... As the spritz was ok. But that's it. I was brought there by friends and I had no expectations as I had not looked at the menu before. I found a single lonely vegetarian item on the menu (which has been always the same for months, judging by the pictures posted by other reviewers here - while the menu in general seems to get updated every once in a while): Fillo rolls with a mishmash of feta, falafel, hummus, sun-dried tomatoes - yes, everything mashed together as a filling! As in one of those terrible tiktok recipe videos only posted for shock value. This was something like 24 euros.

Nice atmosphere and very friendly service. However, the food is very bad and absolutely overpriced. The latter also applies to drinks: 13.50 for a glass of wine, 10.00 for a bottle of Pellegrino.

Mega tasty and very pleasant and friendly service. We quickly received our food which exceeded my expectations. The menu is attractively designed and definitely not run of the mill - I'll definitely be back 😍🥰🫶

The location is great. The view of the Alte Oper is sensational. Sitting outside, lots of people strolling. These are plus points. And yes, it is precisely because of the “great” location that the store is so popular and the prices are far from good or bad. From the beginning. The tables are tiny. Even tables for two are arranged so closely that you have to overhear the conversation next door and inhale cigarette smoke more than the smoker himself. Well, unfortunately there's nothing you can do about that. The prices are - let's say - unbelievable. As I said, you know that when you go to a place like this, because you pay for the location and of course the desirability (which, by the way, I can no longer understand since yesterday's visit). Romaine lettuce with pickled vegetables and panko chicken + yogurt dip for 32 euros. So you can expect a delicious salad with grilled, pickled vegetables and homemade breaded chicken. What we got: Chopped romaine lettuce with !!!!Mixed pickles!!!!!!!! from the jar and industrially produced breaded chicken. The dressing was ok. The yogurt dip was simply forgotten and we were so horrified by the salad that we even forgot about it at first. When the waitress came over to clear away the half-full plates, she asked if everything was OK. I told her that exactly the opposite was true. I explained my horror at mixed pickles and cheap salad for the price and also the lack of dip. She was very nice and empathetic. She was sorry and didn't know what to say. A very nice person. Anyway. As a consolation, she brought us a cheesecake on the house. That was nice, the cake was also delicious, but it doesn't make up for the negative experience from before. If you want to be seen, if you want to be seen, but would like to spend a disproportionate amount of money on poor quality food, this is the right place for you. Otherwise, NO recommendation from me. 5 stars for the service. 1 star for the food (because of the cheesecake) and 2 stars for the ambience. The view and the surroundings get 5 stars again.

Papa Enj often serves really tasty dishes, my two top picks from last year: roulades and whole fish. The price is rather high, but the great location is priced in; fair game🌆 Also perfect for drinks with friends 🍻🍾Clear recommendation if you're looking for something special!

A great spot for everyone who has had enough of Frankfurt's pseudo chic and wants authenticity on Opernplatz - with a nice atmosphere and fantastic food!

You won't find a nicer atmosphere with great staff in Frankfurt. Always a 10 out of 10 and an absolute holiday feeling. Big fan!

Here the staff thinks they are doing the guests a favor by even serving them. Ignorance and arrogance. The staff walks back and forth between tables with cigarettes in hand. The food is poorly prepared, it's not the worst I've eaten, but it's certainly not the best (especially at such prices). I don't recommend it.

Hmm, I'm a little surprised by some of the reviews. It's probably true that not all of the staff come from the catering industry, but we thought the food was bomb. The Wiener Schnitzel was one of the best I've eaten in Frankfurt. The prices are not overpriced for the location directly at the Alte Oper. It's not a fancy place with people wearing suits, but a really cool restaurant with the right ambience and employees who put in more effort than many others...

Choosing this restaurant ruined our evening. The appearance and quality of the dishes are like in a student dorm. All ready meals. I had linguine with tomato sauce and my husband had burgers. The pasta, tomato sauce and burger patty were from the supermarket shelf. Price performance doesn't match at all and if you agree to spend so much money on a meal, then you expect to get something decent on your plate!

Lovely place for a glass of wine and/or beer by the alte opera. Food is great but reservation needed and expensive.

In the evening we had drinks at the bar tables in front of Papa Enj. What you need to know here: the bar tables are not served - self-service applies here (of course it is not written anywhere). The prices are high (0.2l cola €5, 0.2l beer €4.50). When I went into the ladies' room I felt like I was in a train station toilet. Paper everywhere and everything dirty. I then told a waiter "the ladies' room looks like a battlefield." The gentleman just looked at me disinterestedly and said "ok" or something like that. In other words: he didn't really care. That evening, all the waitresses seemed to be on the move with mediocre commitment. Maybe it was because of the loose hoodies that brought too much of a home office feeling to the workplace. My tip: go somewhere else for drinks.

Anyone who uploads such snooty films to Instagram doesn't earn a cent in sales. Simply outrageous.

A great location but extremely overpriced and the service team is pretty arrogant

Unfortunately, the food was at outdoor swimming pool level. Fries inedible and the baby calamari completely tasteless. The menu selection is also very limited. The prices are extremely expensive. The place might be nice for an after-work drink because of the location but otherwise not recommended.

We were a group of 16 people and paid 26€ per person for a "flying buffet" (drinks were not included). The food was okay but we were served barely enough to feed half of us. Will not be returning after being ripped off like that.

really terrible food. I had a salad for €21 that wasn't worth €2. The arrogance and ignorance of the service staff was almost unbearable. People were treated condescendingly throughout.

Bad service in a good location with even worse food. You get the feeling that the staff (both boss and staff) are there for fun/meeting friends/talking on the phone with mom/smoking in front of the door or waiting for the next day. The dishes look high quality, are visually beautifully presented, but are swimming in fat, are not seasoned or over-salted, but everything has nothing to do with cooking. I really can't recommend it. Aperol 14€? Kaiserschmarren 16€ Summer salad €36 Those are fantasy prices. Here you really only pay for the location.

Absolutely not recommended. Unfriendly staff and absolutely overpriced prices. For the first time in my life I drank such bad white wine!! The food was swimming in oil, especially the vegetables.

Tasty food in a casual environment. Not a huge variety of food but I liked the tuna tartar and the Kaiserschmarn. Not a super fancy restaurant but nice for a casual evening. Location is great, at Opernplatz.

Mussten den Tisch für den "Chef" und seine Freunde räumen und sollten unseren überteuerten Champagner im Regen trinken. Selbst für Frankfurter Verhältnisse arrogant. Vom Angebot ganz zu schweigen: Das Banalste.

Ich fand’s klasse! War mit einer größeren Gruppe dort, auf Empfehlung und bin nicht enttäuscht worden: tolles Ambiente, wirklich leckeres Essen und vor allem super nette Menschen, die dort arbeiten, einschließlich des Chefs: nahbar, aufmerksam, null abgehoben. Komme gerne wieder!

Wir hatten am Freitag unsere Weihnachtsfeier dort und waren komplett begeistert! Sowohl vom freundlichen Personal, dem Essen sowie auch dem Ambiente. Definitiv eine Empfehlung und einen Besuch wert!

Positiv überrascht! Hatte es irgendwie anders in Erinnerung, aber heute war der Service unglaublich lieb und sie haben mir extra etwas veganes gekocht und super fair gepreist. Fand ich echt mega nett. Orecchiette auch sehr gute Qualität, sahen handgemacht aus.

Mit abstand das beste Restaurant an der Oper! Die Kellner sind einfach so lieb und schnell und aufmerksam. Die wechselnde Karte, zeigt einfach das der Besitzer viel auf Vielfalt und Frische legt. Immer wieder gerne. Ich liebe es.

Die hören Preise lassen sich lediglich durch den wunderbaren Blick auf die Alte Oper und das bunte zeigen davor rechtfertigen. Ansonsten: Finger weg vom Salat, der ist absolut lieblos und einfallslos angemacht und wird nur durch Stücke von der Drachenfrucht aufgepeppt... Etwas besser war der Vorspeisenteller mit Flusskrebsen und Avocado für 32 Euro.

Trendiges Restaurant am Opernplatz. Wechselndes Tagesmenü mit etwas ausgefalleneren Gerichten - leckere Salate & Pasta Gerichte, mit oder ohne Fleisch lecker! Top location für Business Lunch oder Aperitivo zum Feierabend. Schon oft da gewesen & immer wieder gern dort.

Herzliches und nettes Personal, allerdings in privater Kleidung kaum als Personal zu erkennen. Lage ist hip und cool, draußen und drinnen möglich, wobei große Tafeln und folglich keine privaten Gespräche möglich. Aber mehr Gäste bedeutet mehr Profit. Wie Vorredner erwähnten nur 1 Toilette. Preise gesalzen, mE wird dieser nicht durch Qualität gerechtfertigt… Portionengröße ok, doch lauwarm und mäßige Qualität trotz kleiner Karte. War ok, aber nochmals eher nicht.

Came to this place twice. Very good.

Disappointing experience, the food wasn't very good, we had the burger and a salad. The burger was too much of everything, the bacon with 4 slices still sticking together with very soppy fries. There was simply not much care put in to it and for 29 euro. The salad was lots and lots of greens with mango and 3 pieces of watermelon and 3 tomatoes. It came with completely tasteless baked mozarella. Although we only sat there for 1 hour we were ushered away to have other people seated. Unpleasant experience. I understand you pay more for the location but really the food was very overpriced for what had. Sorry, last time for us.

Tasty food and quick service in top location and of course pricey.

Essen, Bedienung und alles drum herum einfach Klasse. Wir sind ohne Reservierung dort hin gegangen und hatten Glück einen Tisch zu bekommen. Trotz ausgebuchter Reservierungen haben wir einen Tisch bekommen. Es ist nicht Günstig aber jeder Cent lohnt sich. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne zurück.

Fantastisches Essen und freundlicher Service Ich hatte neulich das Vergnügen, das Papa Enj zu besuchen und meine Erfahrung war absolut beeindruckend. Von Anfang bis Ende war ich von der Qualität des Essens und dem hervorragenden Service begeistert. Es war regnerisch also saßen wir drin. Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist ansprechend und einladend, mit einer gemütlichen Atmosphäre, funky Gemälden und einer coolen Einrichtung. Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir hatten die Starterplate als Vorspeise. Die Größe der Portion war für eine Vorspeise genau richtig. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Flapmeat und Fisch. Zutaten waren offensichtlich von höchster Qualität, es war lecker und eine wirklich große Portion, die ich nicht mehr ganz geschafft habe aber mitnehmen konnte. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich auch die Weinkarte. Sie bot eine breite Auswahl an erstklassigen Weinen. Am Ende nahmen wir eine Flasche von diesem Weißen Merlot, der wirklich lecker war. Abschließend kann das Papa Enj allen empfehlen, die nach einem coolen Ort zum Essen und Trinken (große Auswahl an Gin) suchen. Das fantastische Essen, der freundliche Service und das angenehme Ambiente machen dieses Restaurant einem echten Juwel. 5/5. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Sehr leckeres Essen mit ständig wechselnder Karte. Der Service war sehr freundlich und man sitzt schön mit direktem Blick auf die alte Oper.

Super Lage mit schönem Außenbereich direkt an der alten Oper. Der Service ist spitze und man fühlt sich extrem wohl! Die Karte wechselt häufig, so wird es nie langweilig. Essen schmeckt sehr gut und die Portionen habe eine gute Größe. Wir kommen aufjedenfall wieder!

Man kann dort hingehen, muss es aber definitiv nicht. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt nicht, wohl der Lage geschuldet. Zu wenige Toiletten und zu selten gesäubert. Fleisch und Fisch lauwarm. Vorspeise (Thunfisch) hingegen lecker. Lokal und angeschlagene Steingutteller sollen krampfhaft shabby chick vermitteln. Bedienung sieht aus wie schlecht angezogene Gäste. Lokal ist zum sehen und gesehen werden ok, aber nicht, wenn man gut, gepflegt, niveauvoll essen möchte.

Super Service sehr aufmerksam es macht immer wieder Spaß dahin zu gehen eine schöne Atmosphäre man denkt man wäre im Urlaub.Daumen Hoch 👍

An der Seite des Opernplatz gelegen, sitzt man mitten in der Restaurantkurve. Papa Enj ist entsprechend höherpreisig. Die Karte ist sehr humorvoll gestaltet, die Drinks sehr gut, das Essen schmeckt auch. Man bekommt eine interessante und ungewöhnliche Auswahl an Speisen. Sicherlich gehört das Restaurant zur Kategorie Szene und Hipp. Fleischliebhaber sollten definitiv nach dem Angebot neben der Karte fragen, da sind meistens nich kleine Spezials.
