A charming inn with a wood-burning stove right in the middle. Hessian cuisine and apple wine from the Odenwald.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, incredibly friendly service, ...you feel right at home. And a Frankfurt tradition: Green Sauce you absolutely have to try it.

This is the kind of restaurant I love: clean tables, attentive service, no blaring music, ice-cold Coke with ice and lemon, and delicious food (the chestnuts weren't to my taste). Plus, a rustic and cozy restaurant! In short: highly recommended, I'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately disappointing: The staff often seemed disorganized, the food arrived lukewarm on several occasions, and drinks regularly fell off the trays. A shame, because the restaurant actually has potential.

Wow. As a former resident of Nordend (1994-2004), I was very impressed. Super friendly service. Excellent regional dishes, and the beautiful courtyard is finally being used. The gem of Stalburg is shining again. It's great! I could also imagine decorating the yellow wall in the courtyard with Bembel motifs!

The food could be better. Sauerkraut too sweet. Too much bloodthirsty apple compote, too little.

A true Frankfurt gem! The Apfelweinwirtschaft is a place where tradition, coziness, and warmth come together in a wonderful way. The garden—in the heart of the city—is a green oasis with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. It's a particularly pleasant place to linger on warm days. The food was consistently delicious—down-to-earth, fresh, and prepared with love. The classic Hessian dishes taste exactly as they should: honest, hearty, and simply delicious. The apple wine, in particular—homemade and of the highest quality—completes the experience perfectly. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, yet pleasantly unobtrusive. You can tell that the work here is done with real passion—from the kitchen to the service. A place with real character where you immediately feel at home. That's what an Apfelweinwirtschaft should be like. I'll definitely be back—and bring friends!

The ambiance is very nice, the service polite. But that's about it. The food is expensive and average at best. The value for money isn't right. Convenience food dominates the menu. It's a shame.

The ambiance is still very nice, but the new, huge black tent makes the courtyard rather gloomy – wouldn't white umbrellas work? The green sauce was good, but 17.50 is simply excessive! The rest of the prices have also been completely overpriced since the change of management. Simply too expensive for a cider bar with simple dishes! It's a shame, we won't be back anytime soon. The service was very good, though.

I've always wanted to visit Zur Stalburg and finally had the chance. The staff were consistently very friendly, and the outdoor terrace was very spacious—perfect for enjoying a beer or cider. The food looked consistently delicious, and the interior also felt very cozy. I especially liked the fact that there's also a theater inside. The vegetarian Frankfurter schnitzel was delicious. We were there with a group; the staff was always attentive to our needs, polite, and able to speak English with an international guest with ease. The atmosphere was very cozy.

I got food poisoning on Sunday from Frankfurter sauce with eggs, fried potatoes...I'm served!!! Sunday in the emergency room, we couldn't see the play either...due to the toxic poisoning...unbelievable!!!

Nothing special - there is still room for improvement. Good average at best!) but that was it. Too bad! The service is friendly but not particularly attentive. Nobody cared whether it tasted good. That used to be much better and then I prefer to remember the “old” Stalburg and reorient myself somewhere else. It seems pretty unprofessional and that's why we might come back at some point, definitely not soon. The Wiener Schnitzel were quite small and mediocre - but the price at 28 euros 90 was an outrage! By the way, it wasn't crowded! 😂

Nice location in the heart of Nordend. Zur Stahlburg has a beer garden for sitting outside and an indoor area, which is usually very well attended. Frankfurt cuisine is served here and it's a good place to stop for a meal or two in the summer. Apple cider is also delicious. From my point of view, the service has improved significantly, and I have to emphasize something else: the Handkäs was really exceptionally tasty!

Great apple winery with a very rustic but charming atmosphere. We were there with 4 people and everyone was very satisfied. Despite it being busy, the service was quick and very accommodating. Be sure to try the Kaiserschmarrn as dessert 😉!

A great place to spend your last night in Frankfurt. Visited on September 26th. The owner of the Airbnb accommodation recommended it to me, and I tried the local apple wine and the two recommended dishes, both of which were delicious. A place where you can enjoy local Frankfurt food. The friend who served us spoke good English, so we were able to enjoy it without any inconvenience, a truly local restaurant!

The beer garden is very cozy, the menu is manageable, but completely sufficient and authentic, nothing has been changed inside (yet) - as far as I'm concerned, it can stay that way. The menu is manageable as usual, but will probably be constantly expanded with the new owners. Äppler, hand cheese and green sauce are solid, the portions are decent, good value for money. Service extremely friendly and attentive. The Stalburg is fully recommended. Finally again!

After some not so great experiences in the past, we were curious about the reopening and spent a really nice evening last week. Our impressions: Service was friendly and very accommodating, the beer garden was visibly refreshed and the dining room probably had a thorough cleaning. Unfortunately we had to wait a little longer for our food that evening, but the friendly staff compensated for this with her charming and engaging manner. Our food (tapas and schnitzel) were top. The price is a bit high, but definitely reasonable. The new Stalburg has what it takes to make us regular guests again, we will definitely be back.

Ten of us hobby restaurant testers came - without expectations... and left with a 5-star feeling. The good (looking) people in the service convinced us; the location inside, on the covered terrace and in the gravel garden under the trees too. The quality and price of the food and drinks exceeded expectations! After the traditional restaurant was closed at the end of 2023 after 144 years (probably due to the Corona doldrums, the VAT reset to 19% and the overall lower income of citizens with the resulting decline in gastro sales), thank God the one that was founded in 1998 by “our Michi Herl” remained (also not really profitable) Stalburg Theater left. We were all the more astonished by the press reports that the Stalburg restaurant has been open again under a new tenant since the beginning of July. Admittedly, the last time I was at this place was in January 2004, before and after the “Bulky Waste” performance. The good Schobbe and the Bullerofen in this beautiful, long-established Frankfurt restaurant were remembered. The surprise couldn't be bigger! Prices are being increased everywhere (hairdressers, car repair shops, supermarkets, for example); All the more surprising that the prices here remained really moderate, as my personal tasting today shows: 0.3 l, not 0.25 l!!! Cider from the Odenwälder winery Krämer (€2.80) 0.2 l Palatinate Riesling (Dr. von Basserman-Jordan for €6.90) 0.2 l Palatinate Pinot Gris (Heinrich Gies, €6.40) 0.1 l Palatinate Clarette Rosè (Knipser, €4.90) 0.5 l wheat beer from the private brewery Braustüb’l in Darmstadt (€4.90) Espresso (due to lack in the cup, which is much too large, €3.00) Ribs (unfortunately lean) grilled with sauerkraut and homemade mashed potatoes (€17.90) Heaven and earth (3 slices of black pudding with mashed potatoes and applesauce for €13.90 Baked apple rings with fresh fruit, vanilla sauce and cream for €9.90 Equal parts amazing and gratifying!

A bit generic, the new Stalburg. Big card that wants to please everyone. Not cheap, but probably just acceptable in the north end. Dishes competent, but still without pizzazz - good examples are the salad dressing and the sauces. The beautiful garden and guest room are managed in a friendly manner, so I want to be grateful. Price-performance ratio for the food is not right. The 300g knuckle certainly weighed 300g, but not for a long time more than it was on the plate. But: Nice to sit and have a drink, quick and attentive service and of course a great large outdoor area for the Nordend.

Good pint from Krämer/Odenwald, kitchen still under construction - various items from the menu cannot be ordered, bratwurst ok, hand cheese not through and too cold. A NoGo, 0.5 liters. Mineral water with apple cider! 4.50 €! - tasted like Sodastream🤔 Prices increased significantly!!! Service very friendly and quick. A pleasant start, but it should be a little more Stalburg than Bad Homburger GC!!!

Ich gehe seit 40 Jahren regelmäßig in die Burg. Seit der Übernahme ist hier einiges in Schieflage geraten. Um es auf den Punkt zu bringen: Pampiges Personal, schlechtes Essen zu überhöhten Preisen und unprofessionelle Geschäftsführung haben dieses Kleinod heruntergewirtschaftet. Leider… Vielleicht wagt sich doch einmal ein Profi daran und schleift dieses Juwel…

Every time I'm in Frankfurt we come here. Of course it's even nicer in summer when you can sit outside and there's green sauce. But even in winter it is nice and cozy and the food is always delicious. Very nice service. Be sure to reserve in advance.

A quiet atmosphere, a typical German restaurant or place with German food, despite what they always say that Germans do not have outstanding cuisine, they have their typical food and it is very good, in this place they have local products which makes it better , the food is a little heavy but it is very delicious. We drank Apfelwein, very typical of the region, and the dishes were Schnitzel, Knödel (vegetarian dish) and something like a large meatball made with meat, a type of mushroom but more sophisticated. I brought a German friend and he really got it right, I would recommend if you want to try German cuisine.

Sehr ursprüngliche Gaststätte, wir waren zum Essen dort. Alle Gerichte waren geschmacklich super, ansprechend angerichtet. Schnitzel hätte ich mir bissl mehr platiert gewünscht. Dazu gibt’s Äppler und Mispelchen - alles tiptop! Bedienung und Ambiente sind rustikal, muss man mal gewesen sein. Im Sommer hat’s einen schönen Garten!

Der Mangel an gutem Personal hält auch in der Stalburg Einzug. Der Besuch bekam leider durch das komplett unprofessionelle Verhalten der offensichtlich absolut überforderten jungen Servicekraft einen sehr bitteren Beigeschmack. Das Essen war gewohnt gut, aber als Gast im Innenraum wurden wir dank des vollen Gartens komplett ignoriert. Weder wurden wir nach Wünschen befragt noch erfolgte - nachdem wir uns mehrfach bemerkbar gemacht hatten - eine zeitnahe Lieferung unserer Getränke. Unsere Zeche war nicht die kleinste, aber das Bezahlen erwies sich als äußerst schwierig. Nachdem wir endlich die Rechnung erhalten haben, konnte die Servicekraft sich ihres Unmutes über ein nicht vorhandenes Trinkgeld nicht erwehren und zickte tatsächlich rum! Ich entziehe mich ganz sicher keiner Konfrontation und erklärte den Umstand, warum es kein Trinkgeld gab, was mir als Antwort ein "dann gehen Sie doch woanders hin" einbrachte. DAS ist ein absolutes No Go! Sehr schade. Bleibt zu hoffen, daß es ein einmaliger Ausrutscher war.

Wir mögen die Stalburg und kommen gerne hierher. Aber: Das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt einfach nicht. Der Schoppen ist mit 2,90 € (auch im Vergleich zu anderen Traditions-Apfelwein-Lokalen) viel zu teuer. Und das Essen ist nicht nur zu teuer, sondern leider auch nicht gut. Nur die Klassiker, bei denen man nichts falsch machen kann, sind ok: Frankfurter Würstchen, Fleischwurst, Schmalzbrot mit Gurke o.ä. Dann bleiben wir halt dabei. Trotzdem schade...!

Das Ambiente so zwischen urig und angestaubt, die Einrichtung eine Mischung aus der Zeit der 50er bis 80er Jahre, dazu viel Nippes aus vergangener Zeit, dennoch mit Charme ... Der Service ist freundlich und sehr bemüht, Extrawünsche sind kein Problem. Getränke gibt's in großer Auswahl, aber man trinkt gerne Äppelwoi und der schmeckt. Das Essen ist tadellos, vielleicht einen Tick zu teuer, Frankfurt halt. In Summe aber in jedem Fall eine Empfehlung.

Leider hat sich der Betreiberwechsel der einstigen kultigen Apfelweinwirtschaft sehr negativ ausgewirkt. Hier werden plötzlich Preise wie in der gehobenen Gastronomie aufgerufen. Ein Bier für 5,60 € ! EIn kleiner Apfelwein über 3 € ! Das passt nicht zum abgeranzten Ambiente der alten Wirtschaft. Nichts mehr für Liebhaber der typischen Apfelwein-Gaststätten....schade! Update: Beim Bierpreis wurde wohl nach heftigen Beschwerden wieder zurückgerudert….kostet wohl jetzt 4,90

It's quite good you get really decent food, quite a few options as well and of course (apple wine). Cool atmosphere right beside the theater.

Es gab nur einen Stern Abzug weil die Lautstärke der Gäste einfach zu laut ist. Das hängt aber damit zusammen das keine Schallfänger an der Decke montiert sind. Aber dort ist es günstig man wird schnell bedient und die Suppen sind gut. Etwas anders habe ich bisher noch nicht gegessen.

Schön, dass es diesen Ort noch gibt. Freue mich, dass jüngere Leute diese Institution weiterführen. Die Kombi aus Gartenlokal und Theater finde ich interessant.

Was für ein fantastisches Mittagessen (Mittagstisch) in der Stalburg heute wieder! Das Essen war einfach köstlich - entweder der herzhafte Sauerkraut-Speck-Strudel mit Kräuterquark oder die verlockenden Zucchini-Puffer mit warmer Joghurtsoße waren ein wahrer Genuss! Vorab gab es einem erfrischenden kleinen Salat. Milchreis oder ein kleiner Espresso war die perfekte Abrundung dieses sehr leckeren Essens. Die Bedienung war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich - ein echtes Highlight und nicht Alltäglich in Frankfurt. Das Ambiente im Restaurant war einfach und schön und sorgte dafür, dass wir uns rundum wohl fühlten. Unser Besuch in der Stalburg war ein echtes Highlight und wir freuen uns schon jetzt darauf, bald wiederzukommen. Uneingeschränkte Empfehlung für alle, die exzellentes Essen in einem tollen Ambiente genießen möchten. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team!
