Onkel Ba Streetkitchen Wachmannstrasse in Bremen

Last week (September 11, 2025) we ate at Onkel Ba's for the first time. We've often walked past it because "our" tea shop is next door (Freddy & Sons - "the" address for all tea lovers), but this time we made it and spontaneously decided to eat there. It was already late – 6:30 p.m. – and there were only three dishes left on the menu. No problem – the menu is very small anyway. I usually find that better because then the chances are higher that the dishes are freshly prepared. So we ordered Yellow Chicken and Happy Vegan. The nice young lady immediately got to work, and you could see that everything was freshly prepared and cooked with love. You can only sit outside (three tables), and the whole thing has the charm of a food stall or a small Mediterranean street restaurant – very relaxed. The food was attractively served and was... super delicious. Real soul food. And that's why we went back the next day. My friend had Yellow Chicken again, and I had a large carrot salad (a huge portion). We'll be back. Please come too...

I ate here two years ago while I was in hospital nearby. Back then the manager was there herself and prepared everything. In my opinion everything was already ready and not freshly prepared. Now I wanted to give it another chance and walked past the shop in Schwachhausen for four days but the shop is empty every time. Today I saw the waitress standing at the counter but all in all I couldn't bring myself to go in there because it doesn't look trustworthy to me and some of the reviews here underline this. For me an Asian restaurant belongs in hands that come from that background.

The food used to be really, really delicious, but unfortunately, it's not anymore. I've been disappointed three times in a row, that's it.

Unfortunately, the experience was very negative. We spoke to the waitress several times, but because she was wearing headphones, we couldn't be heard. Overall, the service was extremely unpleasant.

Food was barely seasoned and never worth 4 stars.

Fast and tasty food at relatively cheap prices.

The food is great. If you order for take away, everything is perfect. That it takes some time to prepare, and that there is not so much space to sit, who cares...

Really disappointing experience, the woman was rude and stressed even though we were the only ones there at 7:30pm. It was no longer possible to eat there - the food was carelessly prepared and more like a German goulash! the price-performance ratio is also unjustified. Sorry, but never again!

They were out of the dish that I wanted, then when I picked something else, I was told it would take 40 minutes to prepare the order.

Mega good chicken curry. Was really positively surprised.

Just picked up something and it tasted really good.....plus very nice staff.........we'll definitely be back 😄🤤

Wow! Small menu, super tasty. Best of Bremen

The spicy salad was not spicy. And my wife is very sensitive about spiciness. As a note to the chef about this, he said he had never tried it. Funny. You can eat inside, just in front of the counter, on bar stools, or outside at the table on the sidewalk. My sense of comfort has not been affected. The food was OK. Mainstream as a curry, but edible without complaining.

Sehr nettes Personal und sehr gutes Essen. Die Suppe war hervorragend. Tipp vom Personal Traininer Frank, das ist gesundes Essen!

Jedes Mal etwas anders und jedes Mal köstlich! Das Angebot ist überschaubar. Dafür sind alle Gerichte sehr schmackhaft und authentisch. Das To Go-Angebot im Lockdown funktioniert zuverlässig. Die Preise sind verhältnismäßig. Inzwischen ist auch Kartenzahlung möglich, großartig! 👌

Durchaus lecker, und für die Lage auch bezahlbar 🤗

Das Essen wird frisch zubereitet und das schmeckt man auch! Wir sind immer wieder begeistert.

Super Essen, ausreichend Auswahl, draußen kann man gemütlich sitzen. Leider keine Kartenzahlung möglich!

Food was tasteless. No salad dressing on the salad. Totally underwhelming experience.

Das Essen schmeckt super und kommt zu einem fairen Preis. [Es war sehr frisch, der Tofu gut zubereitet und ganz Allgemein die Würzung war sehr lecker]. Das Onkel Ba Frauenteam ist sehr nett, höflich und zuvorkommend und hat uns die Nassen Plätze draußen trockengemacht ;) Das Ambiente, die Einrichtung und das Geschirr ist gut aufeinander abgestimmt. Eine kleine feine Küche an der Straßenecke ohne zu viel Straßenverkehr mit Sitzplätzen zum "People Watching". Wir kommen gerne wieder. Weiter So ;) Und wer wegen der Toilette zum Auswärts-Essen geht und diese dann vermisst - sollte vielleicht vor der Abreise nochmal auf Toilette gehen. :) :)

I have had curry at over a dozen restaurants in Bremen and this is the best by far! Very fresh tasting, high quality meat, great flavor!

Super frisch + super lecker + super freundlich + super schnell. Einfach Top! Ich war heute das erste Mal bei Onkel Ba und bin sehr zurfrieden. Die Karte ist kurz gehalten und das was sie anbieten, machen sie richtig gut. :)

Wir holen hier oft und sehr gerne 😉 tolles Essen raus . Preis Leistung ist Tiptop und das Team super freundlich. Mein Geheimtipp sind die Summer Rolls „lecker“

Das Lokal hat sehr gutes Essen, schade dass sie keine Toilette haben. Man kann nicht richtig genießen :)

Sehr lecker und frisch zubereitet! Bestellen da gerne wieder!

Kartoffeln, Reis und ein bisschen Rote Beete und Spinat, vegan, lecker, macht leider nicht satt, ABER es ist nur 1 € günstiger als das mit Chicken (Fleisch von kranken und misshandelten Tieren kost halt nix), also für 7,90 € und Extra Tofu kostet 2 € mehr. Ich war das letzte Mal da.

Einmalig in Bremen. Sehr lecker !
