Olympia Restaurant in Emden

We (3 people) spent the turn of the year 2024/2025 on a short vacation in Emden. On New Year's Day many restaurants were closed and so we got to the Olympia. We didn't regret it. The tzatziki, olives and pepperoni tasted as they should. The gratinated gyros were very tasty and rich. The Mykonos plate with grilled liver, gyros and meat skewers was delicious and the Syrtaki plate with gyros, meat skewers and 2 lamb chops left nothing to be desired for me. I would particularly like to mention the excellently grilled lamb chops. The salad that was served with it was fresh and the dressing was delicious. All dishes came with rice and chips. All in all, a recommended Greek restaurant that deserves 5 stars.

Good Greek restaurant with good food and great service. Fast and tasty you might think it's a fast food restaurant. But not at all the service has it completely under control. 👏

I didn't think staff had arguments in front of the guests. Otherwise fine.

Mushroom cream sauce and gorgonzola sauce was a disgrace. It didn't taste like anything, just like the rice. More out of the bag than out of the tetrapak. I would have been happy to have a conversation with the chef, but unfortunately my personal criticism wasn't taken too seriously. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't have the attention span necessary to fully absorb our drinks. Too bad.

Nice atmosphere, nice staff. But the main courses are very mediocre. It is also special that you can only pay in cash.

We had dinner with our friends at your place on Saturday. There's no star from me. I had lamb chops with fries and a starter salad and a portion of gorgonzola sauce. I also had 3 glasses of cola. The first cola tasted extremely strange. My friend then looked at the counter and noticed that many unfinished Coke bottles had been tipped together into glasses. Of course that went to the guest. And then to make all the misery not enough, about 45 minutes after eating I got cramps, diarrhea and had to throw up late into the night. We then had to go back to Oldenburg with our caravan in the early hours of the morning. My husband drove straight to the hospital with me. And what can I say? I have food poisoning. Since I only ate something there, it can only come from that.🤢 Just talked to our friends on the phone. They have also had stomach problems and diarrhea since yesterday.

Food super tasty. Unfortunately small portions… Sitting for a long time when you are the last table and constantly ordering more drinks is probably not welcome. You feel thrown out. Very unpleasant.

We would eat there again. Gyros was probably not fresh off the skewer and was therefore very fatty. Therefore one star less

Were there, unfortunately disappointed 😞 The gyro meat was partly black and very fatty. The liver is mixed and everything tastes the same.

Our number 2 in Emden The restaurant is centrally located on the market square in Emden. The food was good, but unfortunately my souvlaki wasn't fried enough at the end of the skewer. Our platter for two people was plentiful and inexpensive. The service was nice and friendly, but not very attentive, empty glasses. Unfortunately my beer had a strange aftertaste. We will definitely come back, we could be tempted by more Greek starters. I also recommend making a reservation here, as it is already very full on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Super Ambiente, weltbestes Essen, tolles Personal, klasse Chefin. Alles in allem - ausgezeichnet 🫶🏼 Wir sind sehr gerne in Emden bei Olympia, trotz etwas weiterer Anreise, es lohnt sich einfach.

We (couple) were there on September 10th, 2024 at 1930. Fast & courteous service, Ouzo with the starter, tasty and very plentiful food for €17 each, doggy bag no problem :-) We'll be happy to come back!!!

Unfortunately I have to deduct a star for the food. In my opinion the gyros was very fatty and coarsely cut. The skewer was OK and the Zuzuki was a bit small. The service was very friendly.

Rhodes plate, plenty of meat, normal side dishes, small salad. The meat was ok, the spice from the gyros is not my thing, it tastes slightly sweet. Otherwise the meat was a bit rubbery, but tasted okay Lt. Internet open continuously on Sundays, But that's not true, it's closed from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m

Lunch was unbeatably cheap. Quality was top!

The platter for 2 people is well topped with meat. Chicken and pork were as expected, but unfortunately the gyros were partially burnt black. However, the lamb consisted of over 80% fat and bones. I wouldn't order again. The waitresses are friendly and you can't get dark wheat beer everywhere.

Got food late, almost cold...food swapped

The best steak I've ever eaten. Number 63, so tender and delicious. My wife had number 46. That comes right after. Only recommended. 🤘🏻

We had dinner with about 16 people. The waiting time until the food was served was about 45 minutes, which was too long. The meat was quite dark (burnt) and, like the rice, some of it was already cold. Fries very tasty. The staff seemed disinterested and didn't offer us ouzo. This was only donated upon request. Unfortunately no card payment possible. Everyone agreed that there are much better restaurants. We won't be coming back.

Olympia is the best Greek in Emden!! The Olympia plate for 2 people. is a blast! The food in the restaurant as well as the order for home were unique. The price-performance ratio is simply great! The staff is friendly and accommodating.. Really recommended!!!!

Like every year, the four of us spent a longer lunch break here. It was good that I made a reservation weeks ago because the restaurant is busy at lunchtime. -And rightly so, I think.- Attention, friendliness and delicious food impressed us again this time. Thanks for that...and: I'll reserve a table in time for the next dormouse.

The restaurant was well attended and we got a seat outside. The cellar was very friendly and the food and the items were served quickly. The food was delicious and the tzatziki was very good. The prices are within normal limits. The toilets were clean.

Perfect, all the meat cooked to perfection. Large portions with rice, fries, salad and tzatziki. Price/performance great, drinks not overpriced either. Sit comfortably in the restaurant or outside. Nice service, greeting with an ouzo. Short vacation in Emden, so only here twice. Otherwise we would be regular customers!

Food was good and sufficient, the staff friendly and attentive.

We had dinner there in the evening on a recommendation. The staff welcomed you very friendly. The atmosphere is, let's say, rustic, but that doesn't detract from the atmosphere at all. We ate very, very well and plentifully there. The price is completely acceptable for 2 People with plenty of food on their plates (starter platter for the lady and grilled liver with onions, grilling liver so perfectly to the point, not everyone can do that) ouzo, wine and beer for just 60 euros. Great, we'll be back. At the end of August, the Duisburg angler colleagues will be there again, I think for the third time. Don't forget to reserve.

Food, price, service top One star deducted because toilets are in the basement and not barrier-free for people with disabilities.

We had dinner there at the weekend (short vacation in Emden). Didn't make a reservation and got a table outside. Service was good and friendly. Food tasty and portion size OK. There was an ouzo with the drink (free). What wasn't mentioned and wasn't mentioned anywhere: ONLY CASH PAYMENT POSSIBLE!!!! So I had to go to the nearest ATM while my husband waited at the table. Sorry, I didn't think that was right. In this day and age, when many people hardly have any cash in their wallets, I don't find this customer-friendly.

It's really sad what we had to experience. This used to be our regular restaurant... We spontaneously decided to go out to eat at Olympia with our two children at 5:30 p.m. We were the first guests and were warmly welcomed as always. Since we didn't have a reservation, we were allowed to sit in the winter garden. However, it was very warm and stuffy there. After we tilted two small upper windows, someone came a few minutes later to close them again and said that there was a draft at the front. It doesn't matter whether our 2.5 year old daughter gets fresh air or not. But we had to and accepted it that way. After we ate the food, which was really tasty, it was time to pay. The employee came to our table without a bill and said: "That's 67.30 euros." I then rounded up to 70 euros and still asked for the bill. A short time later the bill followed with the statement: "You will get another euro back. I made a mistake." I then gave the one euro in addition to the tip. But when I looked at the bill a little later, an additional drink had been charged for just under 5 euros, which we never drank. Anything like that can happen and we are only human, but we were the first guests, the bill only came when we asked, first adding one euro, then deducting one too many drinks (and there were only four drinks in total for four people). This really gives me pause and that's why I decided to write this review and avoid this restaurant in the future. A real shame.

We arrived at 1:50 p.m. Open until 2.30 p.m., kitchen open until 2 p.m. Employee said kitchen closed. I wonder. Should the pub be based on the customer or something else. During the pandemic you complained that no one supported you, then many people helped and now when you are feeling a little better you don't care about the customers. What are your opening hours for? Get rid of them, you're doing what you want anyway. It may be that the food is good, but unfortunately I didn't get the chance to try it. It was nice but we had to wait 45 minutes for our food and when we asked the staff they said "It will take another 2 minutes" But it was only after 15 minutes that the first dish arrived. Food was good but the waiting time wasn't, far too long.

Das Ambiente ist sehr nett und der Service wirklich ausgezeichnet, sehr freundlich, schnell und aufmerksam. Die Auswahl der Speisen lässt leider einige Wünsche offen da nach unserer Meinung viele typisch Griechischen Speisen nicht angeboten werden, beispielsweise Moussaka oder Dolmades. Das bestellte Essen kam schnell, an Souflaki und Gyros war nichts auszusetzen, der kleine Vorweg Salat eine nette Geste aber etwas enttäuschen da mit ziemlich ekligem Fertigdressing serviert. Zaziki ausserordentlich lecker und frischt zubereitet, die Leber war leider steinhart und ziemlich kalt, begraben unter Bergen von Zwiebeln und Pommes. Die Portionen insgesamt sind sehr gross, wir haben trotz Hunger bei weitem nicht alles geschafft. Insgesamt nun nicht gerade ein kulinarisches Highlight aber wir werden es trotzdem bestimmt nochmal versuchen.

We've eaten there quite often, including for lunch. This also works without a reservation. In the evening I recommend making a reservation. The service is always very friendly and attentive. The food is always good and plentiful, even small special requests are no problem. The only disadvantage: the toilets are not easily accessible for older people because they are in the basement. Was in the restaurant again today after a long time. Sorry but the food wasn't good today. I have never eaten such a bad gyro. We had an Olympic plate for 2 people. The quantity was insufficient. Oh ha, it can only get better. A pity

Today for the first time in Emden at the Greek Olympia. Nice restaurant with a really great lady at the counter! Even though I hadn't made a reservation and was alone, I was able to choose a free table myself. Unfortunately, this doesn't exist everywhere. The beer, the ouzo and the white wine (recommended by the charming counter lady) were really great! The food actually too (just gyros with side dishes). Mega portion that I can't manage!!! Just the hollandaise... unfortunately diluted with water or milk! You don't do that!!! 🙈 That's the only reason for the one point deduction. But that didn't ruin my evening. Also thanks to the hospitality of the two service staff!!! Price/performance ratio, typically East Frisian: fits!!! 😉 Thank you for the lovely evening 🙏‼️

Very nice staff and very good service, Greek music, great ambience and then the food, we had a platter for 2 people: 2 meat kebabs, gyros, 2 souflakis, 2 small steaks, rice, fries, tzatziki and salad. The meat is all very juicy. Really awesome and can only be recommended.

A typical Greek restaurant. The food was great, every time. But the basement t-shirt was inappropriate for me. I find a person with a mask and a gun on his back next to an employee of a restaurant. But that's my opinion.

Greek restaurant with an extensive menu. The taste of the food is great and the portions are large. I found it cozy here with quiet background music. The service is very attentive and friendly. The prices are well calculated and not set too high.

Genau unser Stil. Das Lokal mit Einrichtung und Deko nicht überladen, SUPER Service und das Essen einfach unbeschreiblich lecker. Wir hatten Bifteki, Grillteller Kreta und Gyros. Es war geschmacklich super und auch wie es angerichtet war...einfach toll. Sehr gerne wieder👍👍👍

Update Waren am 25.12. 23 wieder mal da. Diesmal kann ich es nicht empfehlen. Hatten mit 4 Personen einen Tisch, wo man 2 Mal einige Stufen hoch musste. Der Platz war dann ganz am Ende. Man fühlte sich abgeschoben. Bei jeder Bewegung quitschte der Tisch und die Lampe flackerte andauernd. Wir habe Getränke nach der Speisekarte bestellt. Es war immer 0,2l abgegeben. Bekommen haben wir 0,4l und natürlich wurden die auch teurer vom Preis berechnet Essen war wie immer sehr gut Personal war für einem Feiertag, wo gefühlt jeder Essen geht, eindeutig zu wenig. Sehr lecker und freundliches Personal

Bin sehr zufrieden. Sehr leckeres Essen und eine super nette Bedienung. Wenn wir mal wieder nach Emden kommen, dann kommen wir definitiv wieder dort essen. Am Nebentisch saß ein Mann, der 27 Mal direkt hintereinander genießt hat. Ich habe noch nie soetwas gesehen und ich war tief beeindruckt. Hat nichts mit dem Lokal zutun, aber das musste ich einfach erzählen.

War ein netter Abend. Preis/ Leistung ok. Personal freundlich.

Bestellt wurde die nr. 46. Essen war sehr heiß. Super gewürzt, Fleisch war gut gegrillt. Die Soße war lecker. Der Vorspeisensalat hatte ei leckeres Dressing. Der Uzo und das Bier war auch Top. Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und hatte nach der Raumtemperatur gefragt. Weil im hauptbereich alles voll war, wurde ich weiter hinten hingesetzt. Jedoch war die Temperatur so schon ok. Toilette war sauber
