After our weekend trip to Germany with my sister's children, we stopped here for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. A very nice restaurant, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly and attentive.

We stopped by for schnitzel today on our way to the racetrack. It was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and it was clean, too. The prices were very reasonable. We heard firsthand what some people were complaining about. It's truly frightening what society has become. For us, it was excellent value for money, and we'll be back.

September 2025 I like buffets because you can put together whatever you want. The buffet here is delicious, but it used to be of higher quality years ago. Nevertheless, we still enjoy going there.

We're always happy to come back. Good meat, delicious sauces, generous portions, a rustic atmosphere, and fun, friendly staff. Whenever we have the time, we always stop here on our way to East Frisia.

We went there for brunch last month based on a recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. We can only confirm everything we'd previously heard positively about it. The ambiance is great, exactly our taste. The buffet is fresh, varied, and very tasty. The owner, his wife, and the staff are extremely helpful, friendly, and nice. The restaurant is ideal for families with children, as it has an indoor playground, so the kids won't get bored. If you're thinking that it's probably very loud there, don't worry. By no means. You couldn't hear the children at all, at least not where we were sitting. Since there's plenty of space, this restaurant is an ideal place for family celebrations, etc. When we were there, an 80th birthday was being celebrated there. All in all, we can recommend this restaurant. And we will definitely come back. 😊

Due to an early vacation cut short, we passed this "restaurant" on our way home. We didn't let the bad reviews deter us and went in with a positive outlook (just a quick schnitzel). It turned out they only had the schnitzel buffet. We were out again within half an hour; the kids had a small plate of fries with three small frikandels. We were charged the full price for all five of us. When I asked if that was correct, I was told snarkily, "All children aged 10 and up pay €20." When you enter knowing you're going to an all-you-can-eat restaurant, that's the choice you make; in our case, that wasn't clear from the front. We tried to make something of it, but the soup was strangely sweet, and we couldn't find any schnitzels at the buffet as they should be. Aside from the lack of communication and the lack of a friendly or helpful response when we came to pay after half an hour, the food is simply not good enough for a buffet that charges 20 euros per person, with drinks also having to be paid for. We're used to better in Germany and certainly not very demanding for a roadside snack. If we weren't already incredibly upset, we are even more so after this experience. It was truly heartbreaking.

The food was hot and delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was homely, open, and bright, with indoor, conservatory, and outdoor areas. A plus is the large indoor climbing area for children up to 12, free of charge.

After a long wait, we finally managed to stop here for a break. We ordered schnitzel with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were excellent, but the schnitzel was okay. The staff was friendly, but the atmosphere wasn't great. There were a lot of things in there that made the place seem dark. But that's to each individual's taste.

We ended up there by chance. We were craving schnitzel. Plenty of parking spaces. The food arrived and was hot. The schnitzels were deep-fried, not pan-fried. The taste was okay. The fried potatoes were dry, but the flavor was okay. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance is strange. Aside from the numerous grandfather clocks, old radios, and old pictures on the walls, among other decorations, the Thai decorations, such as elephants surrounding a grandfather clock, don't fit together.

The food was okay. A large selection. The outdoor area desperately needs some work.

Update: We visited the Schnitzel and Buffet House again after a long time. First, the positives. Although there was a lunch buffet, we were offered the option of ordering from the menu, which suited our needs. In my opinion, the quality of the food has suffered. You just have to look at the pictures from back then and compare them with the current ones. The prices on the menu do not include VAT. We didn't notice this. A note about this would have been welcome, especially since it's not common practice in Germany. This means you still have to add 19%. When paying, we were suddenly overcharged for three drinks. We then noticed the mistake, and the drinks were removed from the bill. The former restaurant owner, Gerold, has sold the restaurant, and it is now run by a new owner. The restaurant is run by a Dutch couple. Gerold, the owner, is a friendly and attentive innkeeper and always friendly to his guests. We usually stop here when we're traveling on the A31 or visiting one of the small antique and secondhand shops in nearby Bellingwolde, Netherlands. We haven't been disappointed with the food yet. Whether it's the buffet, the delicious burgers, or one of the many schnitzel variations. The value for money is reasonable in my opinion. There's also a play area with a large climbing frame. The area is open to children ages 2 to 11. It includes a seating area where parents can keep an eye on their children.

We were looking for a bite to eat on the way back from our vacation in the north. We pulled into the truck stop hoping for a restroom and a snack. We received a really friendly welcome and a fantastic buffet with schnitzel, roast beef, ribs, and tons of different salads and side dishes. We didn't have enough room in our stomachs to try everything. My partner is vegetarian, and he also thought the selection was great. He was even offered a vegetarian schnitzel specially cooked for him, but this wasn't necessary, as there was a really good selection anyway. A small dessert buffet with various creams rounded off the excellent meal. We were completely satisfied. We paid €52 for two people, including two drinks and the buffet. The value for money was really very good. Plus, the service at the table was superb. We'll definitely be back on our vacations north. Thank you for your hospitality.

For a restaurant in an industrial park with a sign for a motorway service area, the food is delicious and the service is friendly. The Sunday buffet is also appreciated by the locals.

I expected a much better homemade schnitzel, but they also offer frozen schnitzel that is extremely crispy. It's really cool for kids.

Unfortunately, for a designated schnitzel restaurant, it was only low-quality frozen schnitzel and the sauce was a convenience store. I was expecting much more, so I'll go for MCD next time. A shame!

For people with children it will be fun, better than the MC next door, they have a large indoor playground here.

We've passed by here sooooo many times while passing through and today was the first time we went there. The food was delicious, the service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was interesting, not super modern but clean. And we personally think that's more important :-) We would love to come back again.

Unfortunately not, the food arrived incorrectly instead of asparagus there was pineapple schnitzel, the portion was so-so and the schnitzel itself was on the verge of being in the pan for too long, and most likely the fried potatoes that were bought ready-made were packaged potatoes that were dripping with fat Then order fries with it. I'm a chef myself and have worked half the world. I've never had to write a review like this before. You should also bring time, in case the waitress doesn't see you sitting at the table even though she said look for a seat of your choice. It's a shame it makes a good impression when you come in, there's still good home cooking here. No finished goods and poorly used. I don't think there is a chef in the kitchen who has learned it.

Been there for the buffet. The name Schnitzelhaus is incorrect. Cheap frozen schnitzel warmed up and 2 sauces included. In a schnitzel house I expect homemade schnitzels. Roast beef was tasty, lots of salads but nothing was convincing for €27 without drinks. Children aged 10 and over pay the full price!!! A large indoor playground for children! Overall it was disappointing.

Perfect if you want to make a stop while passing through with children. Very courteous and child-friendly staff and a very good price-performance ratio. The food was appetizingly prepared and tasty. The children played happily in the games area, which is very attractive for small and older children. We were very satisfied and the children also wanted to go there again very soon. A rustic atmosphere and very nice owners and waitresses. A fascinating mix of German rustic and Thai influence. There is even an indoor play area for younger guests.

We went to the gourmet buffet with a group of 15 people on a Saturday. Price performance is right, the buffet was always freshly filled. Very large selection, there was something for everyone. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately I was disappointed. Ignored by the waitress. There was no schnitzel at the buffet, even though the house is called schnitzelhaus, and the buffet didn't really convince me. That was much better.

Unfortunately it's no longer the same as it used to be. We used to have breakfast or brunch there regularly and were always very satisfied. Yesterday we were there for the first time under the new management of the restaurant. You now pay €18.90 for the breakfast buffet and you have to be there promptly at 10:00 a.m. and get in line quickly so that you can get through relatively quickly before the big rush is coming. The main problem, however, was that hardly anything was added if, for example, the scrambled eggs or cheese were empty. There was only one kitchen worker around, who was also very unfriendly and desperately tried to refill the buffet. After a short time, the buffet was pretty much empty, and many things were simply not refilled. Some guests also pointed this out to the kitchen staff and were then shouted at in a very unfriendly manner. The door to the buffet was also closed at around 11:30 a.m., although the breakfast buffet was actually advertised until 12:00 p.m. Therefore we will never visit this store again. The money is too good for that.

Since the previous owner is no longer there, things have gotten noticeably worse. Lunch all tastes the same, nothing is nicely seasoned. You wait ages for service and the subsequent delivery of drinks. At the last lunch I had already finished the first course before anyone even came to ask us what we would like to drink. If this is due to too few staff, it is a homegrown problem. The only thing I really enjoy here is the breakfast. This is a rich buffet with a lot of choice. There is plenty of coffee and tea. The breakfast is good. Lunch is terrible. The prices are really high, but I can also go to the normal a la carte restaurant.

The old owner had it under control a thousand times better. Unfortunately, Olle Rheen is just a disappointment. After the reopening with the new owner, we were there several times and were sad to realize that it is no longer what it used to be. For the most part, the food is always cold and sometimes tasteless. Last but not least, Christmas Day - a bitter disappointment. Food cold and sometimes not even fully cooked! Several people stood at the buffet and pointed this out to the kitchen staff, unfortunately without any reaction or action. The half-raw food was left like that. So much money for such bad food. Definitely no longer recommended. Too bad.

We ate there today with a larger group, since it is under new ownership, we were excited to see what it was like. Unfortunately we found that it is very disappointing. First of all, the door to the buffet wasn't opened until 10:15 a.m. When it was our turn, a lot of things were already gone, there was no more butter, all the sausages were empty. You had to point it out yourself so that it would be refilled. Then the hefty price because it was Christmas was absolutely NOT justified!!! We won't be coming back... It is recommended for families with children. There is a large playground in the restaurant, and for people who want to sit quietly and eat, they can sit in another part of the restaurant. Buffet is on weekends after 17:00 and costs € 20,-- pp. That is very expensive, for children from the age of 10 this must also be paid, and that is where the price comes from. After all, children eat some chicken nuggets and fries, and drinks have to be paid for separately. But on the whole, for groups and families very suitable place.

From the outside you think it's not that great. But as soon as you come in, it's comfortable. If you like home-style cooking, the buffet leaves nothing to be desired.

The cook said3 we should take the food from downstairs where it was also cold. So let's be honest, you can take the money better to Mecces. You can get warm food there! Was our last visit here!!! The best rest area with children. We took a lunch break there. The children had a good time in the indoor playground until the food was served. Very relaxed for us parents. I think the prices are ok despite the price increase of 1 euro.
