Well, unfortunately, capitalism has taken over. The staff was unable to correctly allocate the ordered products to the tables. The sushi selection has been significantly reduced, and the quality has become mediocre. The presentation has become particularly poor. See photos. Appetizing is something else entirely. It's a shame.

First of all, I have to say that this restaurant is truly top-notch in terms of ambiance and hospitality. Whether it's the chef or the waiter, you're warmly greeted by everyone as soon as you walk in. We were shown to our table. Since we were still waiting for two people, the waiter offered us drinks. You have to scan a barcode at the table so that time doesn't run out. You have two hours to order. We reserved a table at 7:30 p.m. so you can eat and drink in peace and quiet. There are eight rounds of 20 orders each. Sometimes we didn't even know who had ordered what or if it was even our order. Which wasn't a bad thing; everything tasted delicious. The only downside was that I ordered mussels in the last round. The mussels arrived after our dessert. After a delicious piece of cake, you don't really have an appetite for mussels anymore. We sat there almost until midnight, and we didn't feel like the waiters were trying to kick us out. We'd love to come back 🤝

There were three of us eating there on a Monday at 6 p.m. You are allowed to order five plates per person every 15 minutes and there is a two-hour time limit. The problem was that we waited 40 minutes for our first order and only received our food piece by piece. After an hour we asked what was going on and it was taking so long because we hadn't received over 50% of the items from each round. Then we discussed the new sushi chef and the kitchen being restaffed, but as a customer I'm not interested. Of course, 15 minutes later we only had the sushi we had ordered an hour ago, but hardly any of the rest was a disaster. After about an hour and a half we had had enough and asked the staff a third time if we could cancel all our orders. We would have liked to leave. We paid €122 and no one was full. Everything we ordered was cold. The breaded shrimp only tasted of oil and some of them weren't cooked through. So 0/10 recommendation 7.5€ for 0.75l water is also disrespectful since you can get much better food in 99% of the restaurants in Düsseldorf and mostly cheaper, especially there wasn't even a discount or anything like that with such bad service unbelievable just no words 0% recommendation

I haven't been to Okinii in a long time and used to be a big Okinii fan. The atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The sushi still tastes just as good as it used to. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great – it wasn't the fault of the waitresses; they seemed to be trying very hard, but they were completely overwhelmed. One or two more people wouldn't have been a bad thing on a Friday evening. Orders sometimes arrived much too late – sometimes dishes from rounds 2 and 4 were served, etc., and sometimes nothing arrived at all.

The concept was nice, but it seems small at first, but then you get full. 🤣 The service was good, but some dishes are a bit of a shock when they arrive, and you might even forget what you ordered. The atmosphere was great, but it was incredibly hot inside, and we felt stifled. But everything was still great.

The last time I was at Okinii at the Media Harbor in Düsseldorf was in 2019. Back then, I was very impressed by both the ambiance and the food. I returned in September 2025 and was relatively disappointed, as the quality of the food had unfortunately declined considerably. The food wasn't bad or inedible, but it wasn't good, high-quality sushi either (both the quality of the fish and the preparation of the individual sushi pieces, e.g., stale rice, carelessly arranged sashimi or skewers, etc.). Additionally, we were initially seated at a table where there were lots of small ants crawling around – very unappetizing and unhygienic! Luckily, we were moved, but this, along with the taste experience of the food, unfortunately left a very bland aftertaste. A real shame – the value for money unfortunately makes me want to go somewhere else for sushi next time.

A wide selection (even for people who don't eat sushi, fish, etc.). Orders are placed via your phone and arrive fairly quickly. The all-you-can-eat menu leaves you feeling very full. Dirty dishes are also quickly cleared away by the wait staff.

The fish was completely overcooked. All the other dishes were drenched in sauce. The waitress repeatedly brought you things you didn't order, which led to a discussion. The shisha bar playlist from 2015 was playing in the background. For the price, the service is a far cry from what you get. I wouldn't recommend this chain to anyone and would rather avoid it.

Honestly, I absolutely don't recommend it! I really don't understand why it's so crowded here, or why people even go there. The only thing nice is the decor—but everything else is bad. The quality of the food is extremely poor. The sushi consists almost entirely of rice, and the selection is very, very limited compared to the high price (over €30 per person without drinks). All the food is of poor quality: The fried rice made you feel like you had stones between your teeth. The chicken smelled strongly and spoiled. But the worst thing was the sushi—my God, it was really just rice; you felt like you were eating plain rice. Conclusion: Absolutely not recommended!

You can order five dishes per person eight times, 15 minutes apart, over two hours. We were quite full by the third time. Dessert and drinks are not included. The sake is delicious; I highly recommend it. For 35 euros, it's the perfect way to experience a variety of Japanese cuisine. The sushi was average, but we were happy with everything else.

We just canceled our reservation for Okinii. Why? Making a reservation is easy: a button right on the homepage... enter the date and time, and you're done. Unfortunately, there's no indication that, for example, the lunch menu is heavily discounted: - Tuna Nigiri - not available!!! - Tobiko Gunkan - not available!!! - Inside Maguro Roll - not available!!! Conclusion: While "Lunch" at €22.95 is theoretically cheaper than "Dinner" at €34.95 per adult, in practice we feel so limited in the selection at "Lunch" that we'd rather do without. But the price wasn't important to us... we'd rather pay more but also get what we really like. So, better go somewhere else...

We had a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The service was not only friendly, but truly exceptionally attentive. Our waitress, Zara, in particular, made the evening unforgettable. She was always present without ever being intrusive, explained the dishes to us with great expertise, and advised us in a charming manner. Whenever we needed something, she was immediately on hand—almost as if she had sensed it. You can tell that Zara is passionate about her job and enjoys making guests feel at ease. She made us feel completely at ease. A huge compliment to the entire team, but especially to Zara, who made this visit so special. Highly recommended!

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE!! This place has deteriorated dramatically! The staff still tries to be friendly at the table. But as soon as they head towards the counter and kitchen, they seem visibly annoyed! They're completely overwhelmed in every position! I've been there several times, and yesterday I had a seat where I could see right into the kitchen. (TABLE 27) There, I watched as the orders constantly flew out of the printer! There, too, I noticed the kitchen staff constantly shaking their heads and cursing. They couldn't even begin to keep up. Now, the most negative point, why this will be my last visit. If I go to a restaurant and don't get what I ordered, that's bad. But if it happens without any information, that's downright rude! In the past (a few years ago), they at least let you know that a dish was currently out of stock. No lie, AT LEAST 50% of the orders (we had 5 rounds!) were simply never brought! We also observed this at our neighboring tables, who constantly asked for their orders. The preparation in the kitchen is as careless as if it were an assembly line. It made me lose my appetite for a while. All the cutlery was also covered in fingerprints! 🤢 There are MUCH better and higher-quality sushi restaurants. NEVER AGAIN!! This place is slowly but surely sinking into ruin!

Special praise for the amount of salmon on the salmon nigiri—a decent amount, not too much, not too little. I have to criticize the sauces; they're often oversalted, as with the chicken skewers or the raw salmon on a skewer, which unfortunately has recently been marinated in a vinegar sauce, which is a slight downgrade compared to before.

I don't recommend it on Mondays and Thursdays, because you'll end up with twice-cooked schnitzels and meat from the day before, mixed in with the freshly cooked dishes. In other words, you're paying to eat their leftovers cheaply. I'm not at all happy with this practice. Orders get mixed up and sometimes forgotten, and sometimes, for example, on the fourth round, they bring the order from the second round.

Thank you for that :) A big shoutout to the service staff: SUPER friendly and accommodating. 10/10 with a big thumbs up! The food was okay to good, but I would have liked a bit more seasoning in some dishes, like the fried rice. It was a bit bland. The udon noodles with the sauce were definitely too sweet, as was the meat with the marinade. Otherwise, it was good.

However, the music is significantly too loud, which makes the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Due to the immense volume of the background music, all you can hear from all sides is the shouting of guests trying to talk over the background noise (especially when it's quite busy). Price-wise, the restaurant is on the slightly higher end, at just under €35 per person for the all-you-can-eat option, but without drinks.

The two stars are thanks to the friendly service and the pleasant ambiance. And that was only just. Otherwise, no more stars. Five dishes in up to eight courses in two hours. That's impossible. Especially when the kitchen is so slow. On top of that, the dishes get mixed up, and even the waiters don't seem to know what they're serving. Ordering by phone is all well and good. Strangely, a few things weren't available for the first course, but they were available for the next round. Things were brought that weren't ordered. The quality, first course really good, and then it went downhill. Greasy, tasteless, carelessly shoved together. If three people wanted the same thing, it was heaped onto one plate. The proportions were completely wrong. To top it all off, there was a metal thread in the fish. We only managed three courses in the two hours, but that didn't matter; our appetites were gone anyway. Dessert didn't come as ordered either. Two things were missing, and when we paid, the baked banana arrived (according to the waitress). Sorry, but the picture said it was a Raffaello ball. No one ordered it. For that price, it's a real cheek to offer something like that. We've known Okinii for a long time (from the Japan Quarter, and that used to be good), but that time seems to have passed. Not a recommendation!

I visited Okiini in Düsseldorf's Media Harbor this weekend and was completely satisfied. The ambiance is truly beautiful and modern; you immediately feel at home. The decor is tasteful, and the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed. The service was excellent. The servers were friendly, attentive, and well-organized. A particularly positive aspect: Despite it being a weekend, we hardly had to wait. Everything ran quickly and smoothly. One small negative was that things slowed down a bit around 10:30 p.m. Orders took longer, and you had to wait a bit for drinks or refills. That was a bit of a shame, but understandable as the evening wore on. The food was fresh, delicious, and attractively presented. The selection is extensive, with something for everyone. Overall, a very successful visit; I'd happily return – especially earlier in the evening.

After a break of several years, we returned to Okinii, and I have to say that I highly recommend it. The sushi and meat dishes were all perfectly cooked, and the food arrived promptly and efficiently. The service team was consistently friendly and cheerful. The only criticism: Some of the tables are very close together, so we couldn't help but overhear a lot of the conversations at the two adjacent tables. The price for three drinks and a bottle of water was just over €90. That's a lot, but not more expensive than comparable competitors.

The ordering system is really good; you can order individual items at your table using a QR code, and you can view the items in detail on a separate menu. Unfortunately, the portions have shrunk considerably... noticeably... and what's sold here as Korokke (especially considering the strong Japanese competition in Düsseldorf) is a complete farce. Unfortunately, they're also out of agedashi tofu, but otherwise, it's as expected and usual. Very friendly service, especially from Raul.

Very friendly service, especially Raul, who was very nice and regularly asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. :-) The food selection was very large, and the food came quickly and was very tasty. You can't expect fancy sushi with an all-you-can-eat menu, but overall it was very tasty and you could try everything at your leisure. The restrooms could have been a bit tidier.

We ordered Vietnamese curry and Kung Pao here and were pleasantly surprised. The delivery was quick (about 20-30 minutes). The chicken was tender and the vegetables fresh, even though we ordered quite late. The portions were enough for two plates. Highly recommended!

I've been to Thailand three times and have really missed authentic Thai food back home in Germany. Tonight I went there with a Thai friend and I have to say it couldn't be more authentic. Great atmosphere, perfect Thai food, and very attentive Thai service. And for everyone complaining in the reviews that it's too spicy, A) people who can speak can be helped, and B) authentic Thai food is spicy. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
