Very important!! Reserve your table in advance. The staff was very friendly. You order using a code on your mobile phone. We had 8 rounds. The food was served continuously at our table. We had a lovely evening, and I found the price of just under €30 per person to be completely reasonable.

Unfortunately, the quality and taste have declined significantly over the years. My last visit was two years ago, and when I lived in Düsseldorf, I was a regular. However, I'm quite disappointed with the food. The service was friendly and fast, but the food definitely needs improvement.

Yesterday was my first time at Okinii, and also my first time eating Japanese food. The ambiance was very nice, but a bit too loud. The price/performance ratio is really good, and the dishes were decent. I also think it's great that you're limited to 5 dishes per person every 15 minutes. What I found a bit disappointing was that, since I naturally wanted to try a bit of everything on the menu, not everything appealed to me, and two items were absolutely not to my taste. I left them unfinished and was then expected to pay extra for them. I completely understand if someone leaves something because they're full and then has to pay extra, but if I absolutely dislike something, I'm certainly not going to force it down. I pointed this out to the waiter, but he didn't care. Therefore, I'm deducting one star.

Don’t bother if you want authentic sushi. Just as a preamble: I am not Japanese, but I have visited Japan 10 times since 2018, each trip was about 10 days. Therefore, my complain here is because I know what great sushi and delicious miso soup taste like. Having said that, the moment I walked into Okinii, I felt like I was making a mistake… because it’s the usual setting of all-you-can-eat sushi; and if it’s not in Japan, it’s generally not that delicious (per the sushi and other Japanese food I’ve tasted in Japan). And I was right: this place has terrible sushi; waste of money here. Maybe standard meals like fried rice is nice, the seafood is at least nice. However, the sushi itself was terrible. The sushi rice was too dry and was not properly seasoned. I ordered spicy tuna rolls and I could only see a sliver of red thing that masqueraded itself as tuna. The miso soup was given too much miso treatment but not enough konbu in its dashi (they might not even make the dashi from scratch). The only highlight of my meal was the ginger tea; it was at least real ginger. However, I still wasted almost €30 for an all-you-can-eat that was so bad that I couldn’t force myself to eat more despite already paying for 25 pieces of meals. If you want real sushi in Little Tokyo, go to places like Kushi-Tei across the street; their sushi is original and value for money. Or if in budget, buy some authentic onigiri and makizushi from Japan Plaza (Shochiku) or Dae-Yang grocery stores nearby. These store-bought onigiri and sushi have authentic taste, the right amount of seasoning, and moisture.

A truly abysmal decline. Last visit was last Saturday. There were seven of us. Despite repeatedly speaking with the restaurant manager, we didn't receive nearly all of our orders. It was particularly noticeable that these were the high-quality fish and meat items. But the crowning glory, and the reason I'll never go back, was that the trays used to bring the food to the guests were so filthy and disgusting that McDonald's and similar chains seemed like Michelin-starred restaurants by comparison. So – never again on Immermannstraße.

Food: It took forever to arrive. Some items from previous rounds were missing. Then the hot food was lukewarm to cold. The selection has drastically decreased. Only the cheapest of the cheap. And that for almost €35 without drinks. Service: It seems to depend on who you're serving. Our server apparently thought he was too good to take our payment and sent a colleague who didn't have a wallet. In other words, she took our money, went over to him, and got the change. Empty plates weren't collected as they walked by, even though they were already piling up. Atmosphere: The lighting at the tables for two is awful. They should really install some more lights. All in all, very disappointing, a significant decline in quality.

At the end of the year, we always go out for a meal, and this time we went to Okinii in downtown Düsseldorf. The line at the entrance was long, and even though we had a reservation, it took a while. Then we ordered, each of us eight dishes per round. The staff was friendly but unfortunately overwhelmed. The cutlery we ordered three times (one of us uses chopsticks, so we're not experts) never arrived. Similarly, some of the dishes from the first round didn't arrive until the third round, and the sweet potato fries were cold. However, the sushi was excellent, and the other dishes were also good. Considering the price/performance ratio, it's simply fantastic here, if you can live with the fact that your food might arrive later than expected.

We dined at Okinii with a group of four, and unfortunately, it was a very poor and disappointing experience. Upon arrival, it was extremely busy, so we assumed the food would be good, but that turned out not to be the case at all. In the first round, five of the 20 dishes we ordered simply didn't arrive. After waiting 20 to 30 minutes, we finally received our food, but the quality was absolutely subpar. The sushi rice was extremely dry and barely manageable. The hot food was cold, the salmon maki tasted awful to all four of us, and the ginger was noticeably discolored. The vegetables were also raw, rock-hard, and poorly prepared. The worst part was that there was a hair in the sweet potato fries. We immediately reported this, and everything was quickly removed (fortunately, we had photos of it). Then, a staff member (Muna) came to our table angrily and accusingly. She didn't believe we actually found the food disgusting, since we had already ordered multiple rounds at once. We had ordered multiple rounds at once because it was taking so long for dishes to arrive, and we hoped that by trying different dishes, something would actually taste good. It seemed like some dishes weren't their priority to prepare properly, and unfortunately, we experienced that. Our interaction with her was extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. She placed all the blame on us and made no effort to resolve the situation in a normal way. Later, the manager came over and explained that she hadn't said anything to him and that she had already had a conflict before and was angry because of it. That, of course, wasn't our problem and didn't justify the way she treated us. The manager did eventually resolve the matter with us, but the whole experience was already completely ruined by then. This is without a doubt the worst sushi restaurant we've ever eaten at. It's absolutely not worth the money. Finally, three out of four people had stomach aches that evening, which completely destroyed our confidence in the hygiene. We will definitely not be returning.

Incomprehensible order over the phone, which disappears after a couple of minutes and then you can't see what was ordered and how many dishes. One dish was never brought. Unfriendly waiters, as well as old renovation and shabby chairs, I was shocked by what I saw. I definitely do not recommend it.

For the past seven years, my team and I have gone to Okinii for our Christmas party. It's always fun to try everything at the "all you can eat" buffet. It also fosters team spirit because you're not just eating from your own plate, but sharing and trying things together. The food is delicious, and because it's a bit more expensive, you also get some really high-quality sushi 🍣. Okinii has been around for a very long time, which is evident from the extremely worn seats. Otherwise, the restaurant makes a good impression, and the staff are friendly.

Worst place ever. Most of the food was cold, and the sushi was so sparse that it was just chicken or fish; there were no sauces, avocado, or cucumber to be found. When we checked out, we mentioned our disappointment with the food, but nothing was done about it. They simply said, "You should have mentioned this earlier." Five of us went out for dinner yesterday, and we all got sick from the food and have stomach problems. We will never, ever go back to this restaurant!

We ate at Okinii, and let me tell you: it was awful, absolutely awful. The ambiance? Completely run-down. Purple lighting everywhere, like you'd stumbled into a disco or a strip club. You might like that, but it's anything but cozy. The chairs and benches were totally worn out, stained, and didn't look clean at all. It felt more like a train station than a restaurant. Then there was the menu on the table, soaked in cola. No joke. You really start to wonder what's going on. The food: Sure, it's all you can eat, but that doesn't justify such terrible quality. The tuna in the nigiri fell apart and was see-through. It looked more like an aquarium than a kitchen. The chicken on the skewer was raw inside. It must have wanted to be salmon in a past life. The salmon? It tasted like absolutely nothing. Most of the rolls didn't even remotely resemble the pictures; usually, half of them were missing. The rice was old, you could taste it immediately. The only bright spot: the waiters. Always friendly, always trying their best. All in all, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I definitely won't be back. I'd rather pay a few euros more, get a platter of local delicacies, and have a great evening than have to put up with a place like that again. Like they say: once and never again.

Only the crowds and the (incomprehensibly) good Google reviews lured us in. In hindsight, a huge mistake. This is without a doubt the worst sushi restaurant we've ever eaten at. The sushi was anything but fresh. Tough, dry, and it seriously looked like it had been sitting out for days. Absolutely no flavor, just plain disgusting. Fresh sushi should be soft and fresh, but this was the complete opposite. The other Japanese dishes were also a disgrace. The vegetable wok consisted of half-raw vegetables, the food was lukewarm to cold, and served on cheap plastic plates. That says a lot about the quality of the food. And then the ginger and wasabi… see photo. What a disgusting affair. Dried out, discolored, and completely unappetizing. Yes, it was "only" €35 per person, but even free food wouldn't have been worth it. I can't believe how this restaurant got such positive reviews. We will never come back here and advise everyone to avoid this restaurant.

Unfortunately, the furniture was very worn. The bench upholstery showed significant signs of wear. Furthermore, the menu on our table was soaked when we sat down. The food was a mixed bag: Grilled mushrooms and vegetables were tasty, but everything else was of lower quality. The sushi was rolled in rather dry rice, and some of the meat skewers were undercooked. The avocado in the sushi was also frequently quite hard. The second star is awarded because the concept is fundamentally sound, the service is good, and the staff is friendly.

I think this restaurant is one of the best for what you can get with this price range. Delicious and all you can eat concept. Nice drinks. I would wish that they would have more non-fried options other than sushi tho. The menu has a bit too much oil fried options. It's a shame, it could have been good. We had a reservation for lunch. Upon entering, we immediately noticed an unpleasant smell, like toilet cleaner. It permeated the entire restaurant. Even at our table, it was still faintly noticeable. Ordering via mobile phone worked well and was a nice change. The ambiance was simply too dark. The seats on the benches were worn out. There were some real signs of wear and tear. A real shame. The food was very inconsistent. For a city with so many Japanese restaurants, it was quite disappointing. The rice was dry, the salmon was barely edible. Some of the chicken was extremely gristly. During our meal, the table next to us in the back, which was roped off, discovered significant water damage and water dripping from the ceiling. This was neither repaired nor cleaned up during our visit. Several tables left a lot of food unfinished, something I've never experienced before, and left early. We had two hours, but we left much earlier because it was uncomfortable and we didn't want to eat any more. The bottom line is, there are better places. Something really needs to be done here. Not recommended.

Please eat somewhere else!! There are much better restaurants across the street. Terrible restaurant. This is truly the worst experience we've ever had in a restaurant. We left after the first round. When we told them it wasn't good, we got no response. The people next to us arrived at the same time, also left after a few bites, and even refused to pay the full price after what they received. Dry rice. Fish that had a strange odor and tasted of nothing. The interior was old and dirty, and the whole place smelled of sewage. I can't imagine it's safe to eat here. 75 euros wasted.

While all the other tables received cake, we only got it when we called out. Even calling staff via smartphone didn't work. Neither did ordering rounds, which was disappointing. This isn't how I envisioned ending my birthday. A simple "Sorry, things went wrong, you unfortunately got overlooked, we apologize" would have been more appropriate. But you can spare us this "Thank you for your feedback and impressions, blah blah." And if you just use a template again with "Thank you for your feedback...", it's clear you don't care about reviews. We won't be back! We'd rather go to a different restaurant.

Okinii was some 15 years ago one of the first and a benchmark in Sushi restaurants. Now it serves dogfood. The menu is now largely reduced, choices are limited. The chicken screwers were disgusting, chicken is snotty, so are the shrimps. Nothing was served warm or well grilled (teppanyaki, grill,...forget it) and the sushi rolls are dry and look cheap, are chunky and taste terrible. As if they had been laying in the fridge for a week....Very sad all in all. How did this get so bad??

Had this been my first Okinii, I would never have returned. The quality was disappointing: sour kimchi, watery spinach, dry rice, soggy gyoza, and oily noodles. Food was forgotten every time we went around, and the wait was much longer than at other locations. The service was overwhelmed, but always friendly and tried their best. Don't let Okini ruin your experience; go to a different location instead.

We ate there on Sunday, November 16th, 2025, around noon. We've been going there at least four times a year for the past three years. So far, only once has the food been bad and once the service, but the Sunday I mentioned was the best. Greetings to the blond gentleman with glasses who served us (he didn't have a name tag, and I was too shy to ask). That was fantastic. Overall, the service was incredibly well-coordinated, and the food perfectly complemented everything. It was great. Reservations really depend on the time of day. I would generally avoid going in the evenings during the week.

Well, it doesn't taste good. I was here about 10 years ago, and they used to have good quality sushi, but that's pretty much gone now. The side dishes are too sour, all of them except the spinach. The rice is also too sour, unbalanced, not how it should be. Of course, it's a matter of taste, but I've never had this sour sushi in any decent restaurant. I think I'll go to the Japanese restaurants instead; it's more expensive, but at least it tastes good.

Probably the worst restaurant experience of my life. Our food, mind you, cost €35 per person, and it arrived cold every time, tasteless, and not even once on time. We decided to leave, but still had to fork over €50 for nothing. When we left, we were confronted with the fact that we apparently hadn't paid for the food. After being completely ignored and laughed at, I was forced to pay the amount AGAIN because I was threatened with the police and CCTV footage. I pointed out several times that I was welcome to check the camera footage, and was laughed at again. I didn't want my evening ruined because of such clowns. So I paid double the agreed price. Unbelievably awful, unbearable. I will never go to that filthy place again. It even smelled like the toilets; they really need to renovate.

Unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for our first round, while others were already on their second. And when you consider the two-hour time limit and then wait 20 minutes for each order to arrive, it's really frustrating, as so much of that time is wasted. The staff, on the other hand, were very friendly and personable. Unfortunately, the quality of the sushi rice also left something to be desired. I found the rice very dry. The ambiance was very modern, but it did have a few minor flaws, such as broken leather chairs.

Personally, I don't like the concept of ordering via my phone – I find it more convenient to order traditionally. The restaurant's prices are on the higher end (around €40-50 per person), which would be fine if the quality was commensurate. Unfortunately, the rice in the sushi, for example, was quite dry. The wait times were also quite long – while we were still waiting for our first order, other tables had already had their third order. This is particularly annoying, as the time limit is two hours, and so much time is lost. The friendly staff and the overall pleasant ambiance are worth mentioning. A total rip-off. We made a reservation at 8:00 PM and weren't let in until 8:10 PM. Then, after a 15-minute wait, one of the waiters decided to give us the code for the table. We ordered the crunchy shake rolls eight times in the first round. Then, after waiting 10 minutes, we were told they were out. We asked if we could order eight other things. It didn't work. We live in the year 2025, and they can't even indicate on the order page that something is out. Then, after a 30-minute wait, our first leg of lamb arrived, which was as tough as leather. You could have beaten someone to death with it, it was that hard. And for that price??? What rubbish for real, for real.

The portions are getting smaller and smaller (previously 2 legs of lamb per order, now only 1; and the portions themselves have shrunk considerably over time). The selection is also getting smaller (unless you pay extra). However, some of the food doesn't taste as good as it used to (e.g., the very dry mushrooms, which I used to really enjoy). The shop itself hasn't been run properly since opening (the seats are extremely worn). The staff do a good job, though. A smile on their faces wouldn't hurt, though 😉 Conclusion: I've been a big Okinii fan up until now. But I'll have to really think twice about giving the place another chance next time.

They were clearly pre-baked poffertjes from the refrigerated section, which you had to heat up in a pan or microwave. They can't and shouldn't be eaten cold, as they're definitely not ready to serve. I mean, cold pancakes that taste dry and floury? Logically speaking, that's not right, especially at a restaurant where you're easily spending €50 per person. Went there the first time before COVID-19 and was thrilled, and again during COVID-19, when it was already significantly affected. But the circumstances were also difficult. Went there again yesterday and, in my opinion, never again. Firstly, the tablets they used to use had been removed, and you had to use your own smartphone, which isn't cool at first, as it somehow unnecessarily complicates the whole process (small screen, PIN code, only one person can submit the order, etc.). Then last night, admittedly before a holiday, the service was simply terrible. In the 120 minutes, we ordered four rounds: round three about 30 minutes before the end, round four five minutes before the end. By the time we ordered round four, hardly anything from round three had arrived. So you had to wait forever for your food. After the time's up, you can't even order paid drinks. So you're bound to be thirsty. So I called a server via the app, because you should be able to get a drink since you have to wait for the food anyway. After 15 minutes, the waitress still hadn't arrived. At some point, we approached one of the ladies constantly milling around, saying she was talking to a colleague but couldn't help us herself. Nothing happened. After another 15 minutes, we went to the bar, annoyed. Presumably, the manager came at some point and apologized. Then he manually took the drink orders. They arrived about 10 minutes later. So, after 40-45 minutes of drinks, then things from round three slowly arrived, meaning over an hour later! In total, we were there about 90 minutes longer than we should have been, and in the end, not all of our orders were there. A couple a few tables away had similar problems and sometimes had cold food sent back straight away when it was "delivered" that should have been warm. A group sat behind us who eventually left because they were finished and had paid. After that, orders for their table kept coming in, which were placed at the empty table. What else could the staff do with it? All in all, a really bad experience, especially considering the price per person. We simply won't be visiting or recommending Okinii again. The staff was nice and certainly can't help it, but if the concept doesn't work, then it's pointless.

We celebrated my husband's birthday there and were unfortunately a little disappointed. It's an all-you-can-eat restaurant, and you pay €35 per person, which would be OK if everything went well. The sushi is really delicious, but unfortunately, most of the other dishes weren't. Most of the hot dishes arrived cold. All the meat dishes were very tough. The pancakes in the matcha pudding were frozen. The matcha ice cream was completely covered in ice crystals. The only other delicious things besides the sushi were the tofu in teriyaki sauce and the fried Raffaello. It seems like they're skimping on service; it takes a very long time for the dishes to arrive, and the tables were mixed up and brought to the wrong table. Some dishes, like the fresh fruit, simply never arrived. Even though I had mentioned it in the reservation, my birthday was forgotten, and I had to ask, which I find very unpleasant. At Quandoo, we were simply marked as a no-show at a time when we were still sitting at our table and eating. I honestly find that outrageous. We were only a few minutes late and then stood at the bar for another ten minutes before we were even shown to our table. Then claiming we were a no-show is cheeky because it's simply not true.

The grilled dishes, such as the lamb chops, fish, and other meats, also didn't seem fresh but simply thawed and then grilled. For a restaurant that bills itself as a sushi joint with at least four stars and charges prices comparable to a top-tier restaurant, this is a major disappointment. Furthermore, the interior leaves much to be desired. The decor is bland, and the furniture clearly needs replacing. The chairs, in particular, with peeling leather, don't give a well-maintained or hygienic impression. In short: not recommended – unless you're just coming for the cocktails, which are definitely worth it.

Dear Owner, First of all, this is simply honest criticism; the people there are friendly. 1. You walk in and can clearly smell the odor from the restroom (stairs to the right of the entrance lead down to the restroom). 2. The chairs and couch are so worn that the upholstery is flaking, and not just a little bit. The couch and chairs are actually meant for the bulky waste... And I only say that because it's true; I had pieces of the upholstery of the couch on my clothes. 3. The food was truly disappointing, and unfortunately, absolutely not worth the price. Sushi tasted like it had been sitting in the kitchen all day, and dessert wasn't tasty either. The drinks were okay, but if you order a Coke, for example, you have to explicitly state that you want original Coke, otherwise you'll get a "Coke mix." In short, the Okinii at the harbor is much better. If you sit near the main train station, you wonder if it's the same restaurant because it performs so much worse. My visit to Okini Sushi Düsseldorf City was, unfortunately, a complete disappointment. The problems began as soon as I sat down: Waiting times of well over 30 minutes were completely normal. The staff didn't come to the table on their own, and several orders were simply not taken. Sometimes the manager had to intervene several times and ask the staff to do anything at all – completely incomprehensible for a restaurant in this location and price range. The only bright spot was Gigi, who diligently cleared the plates and, unlike the rest of the team, at least made a good impression. But that was unfortunately where the positives ended. The ambiance is also anything but inviting. The furniture is clearly dated, looks rancid, and doesn't contribute to a pleasant experience. The food itself was the same: Many dishes arrived incomplete, some didn't arrive at all, and what did arrive was often cold. On top of that, the selection was very meager overall – I definitely expect something different from an all-you-can-eat sushi place.

I've been to Okinii several times now and I'm impressed every time! The concept is modern, well-thought-out, and simply fun – ordering via the app is a real highlight. You simply scan the QR code at your table, choose from the huge selection of sushi, hot dishes, small snacks, and desserts – and just a few minutes later, everything is brought fresh to your table. No long waits, no stress – but you have complete control over what you want to eat. The app works absolutely seamlessly: It's clear, fast, and makes ordering super convenient. I find it particularly useful that you can reorder at any time without feeling stressed or having to wait for service staff. The food itself is incredibly delicious. Freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. The sushi selection, the baked shrimp, and the grilled skewers are my favorites. There are also plenty of good options for vegetarians. I think Okinii's prices are more than fair – you get high-quality food, a modern atmosphere, and a special experience at a very reasonable price. For what's on offer, the price-performance ratio is absolutely spot on. Conclusion: For me, Okinii is one of the best all-you-can-eat restaurants with an innovative and time-saving system. Whether with friends, family, or as a date – I highly recommend it :)

I went there for brunch on my birthday. We reserved a table online for 1:15 p.m. When we arrived, we were told the kitchen would be closing in 30 minutes. So we could "only" order three rounds. It was very disappointing; you want to take your time. The three rounds arrived almost at once, and we didn't have the two hours to eat, so we had to leave at 2:30 p.m. If you offer a table for two hours online, but it's not possible for organizational reasons... don't offer that table, let people take their food with them, or reduce the full price. I truly feel sorry for every animal that was killed for this "food." I needed something quick in the evening and didn't have any demands, but this—I hardly dare call it food—was an absolute outrage. I feel deeply sorry for every food item that was harvested, produced, or killed for this, as well as everyone who had to prepare it. Really, folks, one little piece of advice I'd like to give every reader is: just cook your own food instead of being lazy and stuffing this junk into your mouth. I ultimately consider it a lesson learned after having to smoke 10 cigarettes just to get the taste of that disgusting salmon out of my mouth.
