Ohayou Sushi Restaurant in München

A very good Japanese restaurant for the cultivated palate. It's best to always reserve in good time.

Very authentic and friendly little restaurant. At first impression, the furnishings may not be quite as comfortable, but they are not disturbing either and have their own charm. The food was excellent and the service was extremely polite and friendly. Cheaper than other Japanese restaurants in Munich but no setbacks in terms of quality

There were just two of us in the restaurant and we had spicy tuna sushi and two different ramens. The sushi was okay, nothing special (6 rolls for 7€). But the ramen was underground! I can confirm another review: in the menu the beef was covered with “turkey breast” and in the ramen there were 2 slices of turkey breast that you would normally put on bread! And that for 18€! An absolute impudence and can't be surpassed in audacity. This is an insult to good Japanese cuisine.

The waitress was really very friendly and attentive, unfortunately the food wasn't as good as hoped. I was expecting a miso ramen and much more. The restaurant was praised online for its authentic Japanese ramen, but unfortunately it was really average.

The Happy Hour offer seems so tempting that we wanted to try it out. Very economical ingredients in makis. 18 tiny lemurs whose contents were past their best color. REWE Sushi shines beautifully in comparison. Rancid karaage without taste and gyoza just like it came from the freezer. The MENU is all in Japanese so it seems authentic. Although, I don't think any Japanese will go. Rice even looks out from under the algae (see below)

Ordered sushi during happy hour. Portions far too small for the price. In addition, the sushi was not chilled. Gyoza and karaage tasted warmed up. I also doubt that this is run by a Japanese. Definitely the worst Japanese food in Munich so far.

We came to the restaurant because of the somewhat older blog entry from Mitfreude. What can I say? The food was really disgusting. The starter, which cost around €14, consisted of two spring rolls (not really Japanese) warmed up in the microwave (which you even heard), two skewers and some salad. The ramen (€16) was just as bad. According to the menu, the miso ramen was actually supposed to be made with beef, but it consisted of a slice of turkey sausage that you probably bought for 30c at Netto. The whole restaurant looks run down. We also had unclean chopsticks. I don't understand how the restaurant still exists. The whole experience was so bad. In any case, it has nothing to do with authentic Japanese food. I can only recommend everyone to go to one of the other good Japanese restaurants in Munich.

The food was mostly very tasty, fresh and authentic - even the mochi was homemade, high praise for that! I just thought the prices were pretty steep for the tiny tapas portions and the miso broth unfortunately tasted like almost nothing, but was spicy - I'm not familiar with miso ramen. The staff is very friendly, but the dining room has definitely seen better days and the toilets were an absolute no go!

We used to visit a couple of times a year as it was our favorite Japanese restaurant. Last time was catastrophic. Every dish had issues. The tofu in the agedashi was sour. The shrimps in the tempura were raw, the chicken skin yakitori were raw (disgusting) , the fish on the nigiri was dry and weirdly cut bumpy (I'd never seen such in my life). We were really sad and didn't want to give up on the place, so we called the owner to the table and talked to him. He told us everything we complained about was how it was supposed to be. He refused to acknowledge we were regulars for years. And went. After a few minutes he reconsidered and brought us a ridiculously tiny portion of kimchee which I detest as an apology. That was it.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ohayou Sushi Restaurant in Munich and it was a fantastic experience! I would particularly like to highlight the natto with tuna, which I was particularly looking forward to, as natto is rarely found in Germany. It was absolutely delicious and authentically prepared. The takoyaki were also a highlight - nice and crispy and perfectly seasoned. To finish, I had a delicious bowl of ramen that was both rich and flavorful. The broth was excellent and the noodles cooked just right. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant and inviting. I can recommend Ohayou Sushi Restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Japanese food in Munich. I will definitely come again!

The sushi tastes like from rewe. The rice was not marinated, very dry. They don’t know how to make Philadelphia correctly, the fish is inside and not outside. Generally tasteless ingredients. It's not worth the money, but you can eat it. They did it quickly, after 30 minutes I arrived and picked up the package.

Very good Sushi and service. However I wouldn’t recommend the Tempura and the skewers.

It feels very much like an Izakaya. Right down to the non-existent design of the card. The food is great, IMHO the best sushi in town. Could the facility be re-established? Yes. Should you go to Ohayou if you're looking for an Insta photo spot? No. Should you go if you want very good, authentic Japanese in Munich? YES!

I just received my delivery order from this restaurant and OMG it is bad. How this restaurant scores over 3 stars is baffling. The food is all premade, frozen and low quality. They use lunch style meats and hard boiled eggs in their ramen which is really just some type of noodle soup and not real ramen at all. The Karaage chicken was the best thing but you can tell it comes from a frozen bag. The sushi roll was warm and poorly made. There are many other Japanese restaurants in Schwabing that are far superior to this low budget restaurant.

Authentic Japanese cuisine. If you ever hear (or think) that the Japanese have more than just sushi, you should definitely visit this restaurant. The food is excellent and always fresh. The service is excellent and the prices are fair. The restaurant is well located, but easy to miss. I first discovered it when I was sheltering from a sudden thunderstorm and hungry.

100% recommend. We got take-away: edamame, spinach salad, nigiri set, 2x maki set & matcha mochi. Sushi was perfect especially considering the amound & price !!! The mochi was the best matcha mochi I've ever had!😍

22 euros for this. That's waaay beyond average.

Very authentic izakaya with very nice staff. The food speaks for itself

I bought tuna makis. Unfortunately I had to throw it away because the fish no longer tasted good. The chicken in the udon dish somehow didn't taste right either. Unfortunately it was a bad experience.

Sushi was very tasty, the frames were not to my liking. You could significantly improve the ambience with little effort

Super tasty food, only the service was a bit busy and couldn't pronounce the Japanese dishes. The nice chef came over personally and took the order.

Normally, for eating at the place it is necessary to reserve a table. It is lucky to find a time when the place is not full. I give it 4 stars overall mostly because of the atmosphere. As I mentioned the place gets full quickly and two things happen, it gets loud since everyone sits close to each other and secondly food gets a bit delayed. The staff is super friendly and always serves with a smile. I recommend it firstly because of the good food and if the place is full try the delivery/take away option.

Ich war ein bisschen erschrocken über die schlechten Bewertungen, weil wir dort seit Jahren zu meinem Geburtstag hingehen... Deshalb waren wir gestern nochmal dort um zu sehen ob sich etwas verändert hat, aber es ist genau so schön, freundlich, lecker und authentisch wie immer. Als Veganer*in, kann man bspw. das Fleisch weglassen usw... Und die Daifuku sind selbstgemacht und sehr lecker.

Das Essen war das was bestellt war. Aber es hat leider wirklich nicht gut geschmeckt. Vllt. nur eine Ausnahme. Der Reis hat nach zu wenig geschmeckt war aber auch irgendwie zu salzig. Der Fisch war ok.

Man fühlt sich wie in Japan, und das essen war extrem lecker!

Wenn es ordentlicher wäre und gemütlicher eingerichtet wäre, wäre es perfekt.

War lecker aber es geht noch besser

The food is delicious and authentic, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The waitress, although nice and polite, seems to be quite busy or forgetful, I waited 20 minutes for my order of ika-natto (simple appetiser) to be served, only to realise it wasn't even being made at all when I asked about it. She also forgot to give back change and had to be asked.

Ein sehr tolles Japanisches Restaurant. Hat eine sehr tolle Auswahl an Izakaya (Japanische Bar/Kneipe) Gerichten (kleine Teller zum Teilen, so wie Tapas). Hat aber auch Nudeln, Sushi und ähnlich. Wo wir dort waren war auch eine 4er Gruppe Japaner da, spricht also wie authentisch es ist.

Tried the salmon with teriyaki sauce. It was quite good. The environment was relaxed and the staff was friendly.

Einfach topp! Das beste Sushi, was ich jemals gegessen habe. Auswahl ist vielfältig und ausgewogen. Mitarbeiter super freundlich und die Atmosphäre einfach wunderbar. Immer wieder gerne.

Sehr nettes und gutes japanisches Restaurant

Gestern haben wir zum ersten mal take away Sushi bei Ohayou probiert. Preis/Leistung hervorragend. Sehr gutes und frisches Sushi. Wir werden nächstes Mal vor Ort Miso Ramen und Reisgerichte probieren. 😋

The place is so surprising! The taste of silken tofu - amazing! I could eat 2 portions easily! Vegetable croquettes- amazing! Service is friendly. I will come back for sure :-)

Sushi sehr gut, leider ist die Verpackung komplett aus Plastik. Ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß und überflüssig. Das müsste dringend geändert werden. Darum nur 3 Punkte

echt japanisches Essen mitten in München! das Essen hier ist wie es in Japan ist! ...hier kommt man wegen der Küche her und nicht wegen dem Ambiente! das Essen hat 10 von 10 Sternen verdient! die Menschen, die einen bedienen- sind aufmerksam und bemüht- wie es in Japan alltäglich ist! ...mein Opa hat immer gesagt, wenn das Restaurant mit Ausstattung Eindruck machen will- ist die Küche bestimmt schlecht; bisher hatte er immer Recht! der eine trumpft mit Deko der andere mit Küche! beides trifft sich selten;

Das Ohayou ist eine echte Izakaya, japanische Kneipe, in der es viele kleine Speisen zum Teilen gibt, aber auch das Sushi, das Tempura und die Suppen sind exzellent und sehr lecker. Einfacher, guter Service zu Münchner Preisen. Ich gehe gerne und schon seit langer Zeit ins Ohayou, um gutes japanisches Essen zu genießen

Klassischer Japaner, schlicht eingerichtet, sehr leckere Gerichte. Da werde ich auf jeden Fall nochmal hingehen.

This restaurant hasn't met my expectation. From the outside it shows off as a traditional Japanese restaurant, but as you step it, you'll realise they sell also common Asian food like springrolls. What I particularly didn't like has been the small size of the dishes, compared to their price and the overall taste, which wasn't sensational. On top of that, they serve water directly in glasses (3€ per glass), with no certainty that that waters comes from a bottle or tap.

Leider war das Sushi nicht gut und der Thunfisch darin versalzen. Gyoza verbrannt, Füllung unbestimmbar. Der frittierte Oktopus war ok. Cola bestand aus angerührtem Sirup und rechtfertigt in keinster Weise ihren stolzen Preis von 4,50€. Service nett, hat aber die Bestellung nicht hinbekommen und falsche Sushi geliefert. Ich komme nicht wieder.

ミュンヘンの和食のお店ではリーズナブルな値段でおいしくいただけます。メニューもラーメン、焼き魚、生姜焼きなど、たくさんあり、重宝しています。

Waren in einer Gruppe von 7 Leuten da; die Bedienung hat schlecht deutsch gesprochen, hat aber erst nach deutlichen Missverständnissen auf Englisch umgeschwenkt... zwei mal wurde uns Essen gebracht das wir nicht bestellten und 3 der Essen die wir bestellten waren nicht die, die wir bestellten. Das Sushi war grauenvoll: schlecht gerollt, nur ein Hauch von Reis; ist beim hochnehmen sofort auseinandergefallen. Es gibt einige Tische an denen man auf dem Boden sitzen isst. Da wir eine ältere Dame dabei hatten die nicht gut auf dem Boden sitzen konnte fragten wir nach einem anderen Tisch. Es wurde uns lediglich ein 5er Tisch angeboten. Die Option Tische zusammenzustellen erwogen die Bedienung nicht. Die Wartezeit war lang, das Essen kam nicht gleichzeitig, Nudeln Ok, Miso-suppe gut, Sushi eine Beleidigung, Service schlecht, Preise ungerechtfertigt. Im großen und ganzen ein absolutes No-Go.
