Shoya Sushi in München

The mushroom soup is excellent.

On Friday, I ordered takeout for two from Shoya Sushi in the PEP shopping center in Munich. Ordering was straightforward, the staff was friendly, and the food was prepared very quickly, which is a definite plus, especially in a shopping mall. However, it's worth noting that they only accept cash, which is rather inconvenient these days and not something you necessarily expect. The food was generally okay – freshly prepared, tasty, but nothing particularly special. The portions were adequate and of average quality, perfect for a quick sushi break. Overall, it was an okay takeout experience: friendly, fast, and solid, but with room for improvement – ​​hence my rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

Never again. The gyoza were deep-fried, but they'd either been microwaved or left to sit around. Consequently, they were completely soggy. I should have sent the sushi back. The rice was overcooked and also mushy. The noodles in the ramen were unfortunately overcooked as well, and the broth in the shoyu soup was tasteless. It wasn't even remotely comparable to the quality of Shoya at Platzl. And to top it all off, they only accept cash.

service was okay i guess. i got the bbq beef bowl with the wakame udon and chicken gyoza, my girlfriend got the nameko udon, the noodles were good but the broth tasted basically like hot water with scallions in it. the gyoza was dry, looked almost deep fried. the bbq beef was the chewiest and most tasteless beef ive ever had, and the lettuce made the whole thing taste like mcdonald's. for the same amount of money, you could eat at a really nice restaurant in the middle of the city with much much better food. not worth the money.

I went to this restaurant for lunch. The food quality is about 3 out of 5. The staff neither speak proper German nor English, so it’s really difficult to communicate or ask for any service. The biggest problem, however, is that they only accept cash payments. You only find this out after finishing your meal, when you try to pay and realize your card doesn’t work there. Then they tell you to go withdraw cash from a nearby ATM, which can be quite inconvenient—especially for me with a small child, having to stand in line just to get cash to pay the bill. There’s no sign anywhere, neither on the menu nor in the restaurant, indicating that it’s cash only.

One star because of the kind waitress. The food was bad. Soup with rest of fish, no proper meat fish. The Tempura was not freshly cooked and was shuwii The spinach salad tasted old and not fresh. Will not eat again there!

The food was not tasty at all. The sushi was mostly rice with just a tiny piece of fish — very poor quality for the price. At the end of the meal, we were told they only accept cash, which wasn’t mentioned beforehand. We didn’t have cash, so they asked us to pay via Bizum to a personal bank account, which felt very unprofessional. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Im giving this place a one star because it's a cash only business but they don't tell you until after you have eaten ... Which then means an uncomfortable dash to the nearest ATM, leaving your possessions with them until you come back. n this day and age, it's unacceptable to not accept card payments. If i have to declare everything i earn to the Finanzamt, then so should other small businesses.

My girlfriend and I went to the restaurant at lunchtime and were initially greeted warmly and shown to a table. The waitress spoke fluent English and German at first – everything seemed fine. I ordered a tea and dish number 71 (according to the menu: salmon, rice, avocado, mango) and clearly indicated twice what I wanted. What I received had absolutely nothing to do with it: there was no salmon, no avocado on my plate – instead, just some iceberg lettuce, onions, rice, and an unidentifiable brown mass. I initially thought perhaps the salmon was hidden underneath, but no such luck. My girlfriend then politely called the waitress, and I explained in German that I had ordered something different. Suddenly, she pretended not to understand. I then explained it in English – again, no reaction. I showed her the menu again with number 71 and calmly explained in both languages ​​that I had ordered it twice. Her response? A smile, a shrug, and "No." No attempt to resolve the issue. I just wanted to eat, so I tried the wrong dish—the quality was mediocre, but for the price, I suppose that's to be expected. Naturally, most of the food remained on the plate—it was simply disappointing. At the end, we went to pay and clearly indicated that we wanted to pay by card. Suddenly, it was: cash only—by hand gesture. When we asked where this was indicated (we wouldn't have even entered the restaurant if we had known), she again pretended not to understand. Instead of an answer, she simply pointed to the nearby ATM. So, I had to make a special trip to the drugstore to withdraw cash because I didn't want to pay ATM fees. Back at the restaurant, I paid—she still owed me €3 in change and took several minutes to give it to me. I honestly had the feeling she was waiting to see if we would leave her a tip—after this experience??? Definitely not!!! Conclusion: An unpleasant and disappointing experience. The waitress's behavior was simply disrespectful in the end. To suddenly claim she didn't understand any language after greeting us in perfect German and English at the beginning was just outrageous. Never again. Save yourself the visit!

Would'n recommend. Waist of time and mood. We didn't get what we ordered, and when we told her about it, the waitress pretended not to understand. Then it turned out that they don't accept cards.. But they didn't warn us about it anywhere. We were very very unhappy with this place.

Big fan Great value for money I eat kimchi udon every time and then order another portion of noodles for the soup that is left over. Super delicious, I could eat it all day long. The staff was nice but didn't have the best knowledge of German but that wasn't a problem. Unfortunately the ambience isn't that nice. Definitely a recommendation - I drive from Tegernsee every time to eat udon!!!

The broth was similar to hot water with pepper. Completely disappointing. Glad the noodles were at least okay. Now onto the sushi- the sushi was terrible and is the main reason for this review. The tempura rolls were probably quite old? Or the inner shrimp was over fried and rock hard! If we weren't so hungry we would have left. The waitress was polite if not particularly accommodating. You can't speak of an "ambience" here either, but the food used to cover up this shortcoming.

You yourself would never bring garbage anywhere near your mouths - selling such rubbish to paying customers is not "having a bad day" - it must have been intentional... In more detail: I love sushi, I eat it with pleasure and regularly - probably a few thousand times in all kinds of countries. I'm not a purist: Of course you're interested in authentic Japanese sushi; But I can also make do with the Vietnamese sushi, which is more common in this country, or, if necessary, eat a take-away box or something from the delivery service; But then more as a side dish and just salmon, anything else would be too delicate for me. Now I was in PEP and suddenly had a real craving for sushi. In Kaufland there is a take-away counter that is surprisingly acceptable for the corresponding cravings. Certainly not “good”, but at least edible. No - I wanted something “sensible”, and even though my last visit to Shoya was a few years ago and was already rather sobering, I thought: Nothing could go wrong - I at least still think of the Shoya chain as being somewhat authentically Japanese guided in memory. So I ordered sashimi and a few nigiri and rolls to pick up half an hour later. I didn't get a receipt because there wasn't one. Good: Everyone can design their accounting as they see fit, and I actually don't care, but it somehow completes the overall picture that follows. I received my bag well tied. That was really their luck, otherwise I would have slapped them with such impudence. When we arrived home, we were unpacked and prepared full of anticipation. Normally my cats always come running happily to sushi and steal a piece or two of sashimi. They ran this time too, but in the other direction, after briefly sniffing at this impudence... Really: I've never seen anything like it. Even the most anti-social delivery service would be ashamed of what they gave me. The nigiri were neither Japanese (a little rice and a lot of fish) nor à la delivery service (a lot of rice, less fish) - but rather: a lump of rice the size of a grape (the rice was grainy and not soft, and apparently completely unseasoned), which was half of it The nigiri has already broken down into several pieces in the packaging, topped with a very thinly sliced ​​piece of fish. The black hair that I then pulled out from under the sushi was the icing on the cake. I'm really not sensitive about things like that, but nothing really fit. “Sushi” that looked like something a five-year-old had creatively realized in his mom’s kitchen. Unseasoned, dried-out rice. Rancid fish. How on earth can you give something like that out to customers? Shame on you, Shoya. Pathetic and dangerous to health!

Food is super nice, especially the miso ramen soup. However the opening times are rather confusing. It says 9 am–8 pm online, however they don't let you sit there until 10:30 am. Happened multiple times now that I had to go because it was too early.

Immer wieder bin ich mal in München und nirgends so gut gegessen wie dort! Preis Leistung ist absolut Top! Getränke super günstig. Die Bento Box ein Traum. Schnelle und sehr freundlicher Service! Wenn man japanisch essen möchte, sollte man dort hin einen Abstecher machen. Die Mochi zum Mitnehmen waren auch absolut köstlich. 😊
