Ocakbasi Altstadt in Dresden

They are very uninterested. When you want something, you go in from outside and ask. Kebab comes but no pita comes with it. You go in and call the waiter and ask. There is no salt on the table, you go in and ask for it separately. Service is bad. Ocakbasi taste is not delicious and it is expensive.

It was still plenty: you can share a starter if you want a main course. Everything seems extremely appetizing and tastes good. And in the end, the initially high price (8EUR) for "tzatziki" seemed reasonable to me, because it was a lot, there was plenty of bread and also a paprika paste. And even with the reduced price lunch menu you only compromise on price, the portions are generous. The kitchen is open so that you can see what is being made...in principle you could also stand and watch your own food being made. In terms of price, the restaurant is in the middle range (by Dresden standards), and you can easily study the menu online beforehand. The service varies. They are apparently trying to keep their head above water with temporary staff. Sometimes it works better, sometimes less. The regular staff is great! Conclusion about everything: We (4 adults, one lunch menu) were very satisfied!

There were five of us at Ocakbasi. Very friendly welcome. Before the meal, in a typical Turkish restaurant, a thin flatbread is served with delicious dips and small salads. Always delicious. Lunch really tasted wonderful, we had prawn pan, grill plate for 2, pide with lamb. The ambience is so-so, in the dining room it's still OK, but now comes the reason why the 5th star is missing: In the basement near the toilets, the plaster is crumbling from the walls everywhere. And much less pleasantly, the floor stuck and didn't look clean. Not even parts of the walls. In the sanitary area! It's a shame, otherwise it would definitely have been 5 stars.

There are delicious, authentic Turkish dishes and you will be served by a very attentive, careful and friendly service. Highly recommended!

This is the best Turkish restaurant I've been to so far! Very tasty food!! Very fresh ingredients! And the best Künefe! Can only be recommended!

This is what a baby changing table looks like!!!! Very tall! It’s not clear how to put a child there! It's shaking!!!! They put a notebook under it, you can see it in the photo!!!!! The water in the toilet is very cold!!!!!!What should you do if your child gets dirty? Wash with cold water??no hot water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were also told that we couldn’t pay by card after we ate! Payment only in cash! My husband had to go to the ATM, it wasn't working! My husband came back!! A lot of wasted time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We decided to pay by transfer and spent an hour of our time resolving this issue, but they could have immediately warned us that we could only pay in cash! We have a small child who was sitting and waiting! Spoiled mood! We spent a lot of time! The only thing is that the food was delicious, but the service was 0

Very good food, a bit expensive but the taste is amazing, service was very friendly

The restaurant was very full and the employees unfortunately seemed overwhelmed. This was reflected in long waiting times for drinks and food. I ordered an appetizer several times, which never arrived - it was always forgotten. Since there were rarely employees there, it was difficult to keep asking. After eating it took almost 30 minutes until our seat was cleared away. Our drinks were also empty for a long time and we didn't have a chance to order new ones in the meantime. In the end there was a discount, but that couldn't make up for the bad visit. All in all, we won't eat here again.

We always travel from prague to visit this place, the most welcoming and incredibly tasty food.

The food was not tasty. The pie was tasty. When we left, we couldn't pay by card. They didn't inform us in advance. Maybe we didn't have cash. They played very sad music.

After waiting 45 minutes for our food, cold food arrived. Kebab was dry, the meat had a strange taste. Not recommended.

We were there spontaneously on Saturday lunchtime and there were only a few tables occupied. The service was very friendly and attentive. The ambience was very nice. The food was terrific and a lot. The plates were nicely presented. Card payment was apparently not possible due to the WiFi. But the toilets were catastrophic!!! There were cables on the floor, the plaster had fallen off the wall, there were cobwebs everywhere on the ceiling, there was too much in one cubicle (watering can,...), the tap was extremely loose, there was kitchen roll to dry your hands,... We would love to come back because of the food.

We ordered two different dishes. The first one, served with bulgur and rice, was delicious, and all the kebabs were cooked perfectly. However, the second dish had a sauce that we didn’t enjoy—it just wasn’t to our taste. The service was okay; the waiter was polite, but we had to ask multiple times for a plate and spoon. In the end, we had to go and get them ourselves.

The alleged draft beer comes from the bottle. The drinks sit at the bar for so long that the beer looks like dishwater. It doesn't matter that the Pils is served in a hefeweizen glass. According to the menu, the dishes include rice and bulgur, but ours was missing (No. 79). The toilets stink of urine, you can smell it all the way into the restaurant, and the inventory is broken (faucets, door handles). The lighting in the restaurant flickers. Service was zero, at some point we were annoyed and took our empty glasses away ourselves. Absolutely not recommended. The portions are puny for the price.

We waited over 1 hour for the food. The ventilation of the restaurant is very poor. We even smell the food coming over us.

The best Turkish restaurant in Germany

It's okay from my point of view, my grilled dish was tasty but not delightful and at the upper end of price appropriateness. The ventilation is poor, and in addition to the costs of the stay, there is also the cleaning of the wool scarf and wool jacket - there is no other way to get rid of the pungent smell of the grill fumes.

Yes, hello, we were guests as a group of five and we are really very satisfied. The meat was excellently prepared and tasted great. The chai and the sweets served with it were also a real highlight. Everything around was just right – a really great atmosphere and a successful overall experience. The restaurant is a bit worn out, but that didn't dampen our positive impression. All in all, highly recommended, and we'll definitely be happy to come back!

Very good food Expansive prices

It was just terrible.. nothing tasted the way it should taste.. I've never seen a Turkish restaurant in my life that was so messed up and paid over 4.20 euros for a glass of water that wasn't even in the bottle... that Toilets are dirty and broken. Poor facilities but totally overpriced.

Unprofessional service with unfriendly attitude especially with kids. Over prices which even don't match the quality of the food. The rice and bulgar are not fresh and don't advise anyone to order sis aka chicken the taste is terrible also the portions are small don't match the expensive price. The smell of the tiolets is very bad u can smell it fron upstairs. I don't recommend it at all....

We were at the restaurant very early with friends so it was hardly full. We can't complain about the taste at all, unfortunately the service didn't feel like serving us. The salad for individual dishes was forgotten and only brought when asked. It would be nice if you ordered draft beer, as stated on the menu, that no bottled beer would be served - since we had a view of the bar, we could observe this.

The restaurant is in a very good location and looks luxurious. The food was tasty but the portions were small and expensive. I ordered a beer but couldn't drink it because there was a fly in it. Still they charged the price of the beer. We ordered the dessert Künefe, but it was crispy on the outside and completely white on the inside - not baked properly. We ordered lamb skewers but there was more rice than meat. The amount of meat was very small, which surprised us. The mezes were good. In the end we paid 85 euros but it really wasn't worth it. Charging the price for a beer I couldn't drink - how can that be? Is it my problem that there are flies there? There is definitely no customer satisfaction here, it's all about money. Expensive and unnecessary. If this restaurant were in Turkey, the service and quality would be better. You would work customer-oriented, not money-oriented.

We are experienced with Turkish food and cannot understand the positive reviews at all. They are tourists and we were seduced by them to eat there. The meat soup was not good in taste. The Lahmacun despite an absolutely overpriced price of €14!! both times only lukewarm. The grill plates are sparse for a price of €27. The meat pan was already more than done and partially burnt. We returned one dish because it was too cold. The GF said that it would be normal with yogurt in this dish 🙈. We didn't order a new one because the conversation didn't include any insight or apology. There are certainly better alternatives in Dresden. This is the opinion of 4 adults. The service staff tried hard, but no one asked if everything was OK. Conclusion: We should have gone to the Italian pasta restaurant instead, which is what we actually planned to do.

Das Essen und die Bedingung waren super. Wir hatten die Grillplatte und einen Auflauf. Beides war unserer Meinung nach perfekt gewürzt. Das einzige was uns etwas störte war, das der Barkeeper die ganze Zeit über telefonierte und auch einen Kopfhörer drinne hatte. Als wir dann zum bezahlen vorgegangen sind, haben wir gesehen dass das anscheinend üblich ist, den das ganze Küchenpersonal hatte Kopfhörer im Ohr und einige schauten sogar einen Film. Vielleicht sollte der Manager mehr auf die Disziplin seiner Mitarbeiter achten.

We have been there several times and really enjoyed Turkish food. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with this restaurant. Some of the food wasn't fresh, bulgur tasted old, portions were manageable - but very expensive. Unfortunately, the meat quality was the worst. Minced meat was very fatty and didn't taste good, chicken was ok. I don't understand the many good reviews. We've been to a few Turkish restaurants - all of them much cheaper and better. Service was ok. Children's play corner was a great idea - but all the toys - the few that there were - were broken. Toilets were also so-so. All in all, the high price unfortunately doesn't match the quality at all. We won't come back. 2-3 stars - in the end we give it 3

The food and the conditions were great. We had the griddle and a casserole. In our opinion, both were perfectly seasoned. The only thing that bothered us was that the bartender was on the phone the whole time and also had headphones in. When we went to pay, we saw that this was apparently common practice, as all the kitchen staff had headphones in their ears and some were even watching a film. Maybe the manager should pay more attention to the discipline of his employees.

Not worth the money. 16€ for a lamajun, really? Inside also i didnt get data connection and the staff didnt provide wifi. Some even didnt speak German. After the dinner our clothes smell all BBQ :( I would not come back.

It was the first place we wanted to try when we arrived in Dresden, but we were disappointed. There is literally no minced meat in the lahmacun, we asked for lamb shish kebab and it was burnt and they noticed but they still sent it burnt, the bulgur pilaf was very dry, frankly it was not worth the price paid and we ate it to avoid being hungry with dishes we did not enjoy rather than tasting.... only the waitress was polite. A place I wouldn't want to go to again...

Food - definitely pretty solid. We enjoyed both the dishes we were served. However it is important to note - the conditions of the restroom downstairs in the restaurant is absolutely abhorrent. You can smell the nauseous fumes from the up the stairs. I hope the state of that restroom is addressed soon. It made us not want to eat anything.

The food and service were first class, the Adana Kebab tasted just like in Turkey. For each table there was a very tasty and airy lavash bread for the use of many customers with a nice salad and a small dip tzatziki bowl as well as a gently spicy mezze (ezme), which was minimally spicy, free of charge. On the subject of costs: The prices on the Google menu (approx. €7.50 per dish) are definitely not up to date and neither are they on the website (approx. €3 per dish there), that would be my only criticism. Otherwise the food was really first class.

There were 9 of us and we waited almost over an hour for the bread that you get as a starter. The drinks like beer arrived warm. The food was cold and the portion was a bad joke for the price. The staff was very slow. Unfortunately, overall totally bad and disappointing.

It takes forever to get the food

Staff is average. I ordered Urfa, the meat was good, the fries were very bad. I think it would be in their best interest to take it off the menu. The ambiance in the place is good. Turkish music was good for me, especially Black Sea songs. I don't know how good arabesques are for tourists :-)

After a long, hot day, we actually just wanted to have a small snack (doner kebab) for dinner. But the atmosphere was very inviting and we stayed on the terrace. The choice of food was made quickly and we opted for the grill plate and a shandy. The grill plate was freshly prepared and everything was very tasty. There was also a delicious bread with two different dips as a starter. The grill plate for two is completely sufficient for two people. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Card payment is possible inside at the checkout.

The food was very tasty and a lot! The side salad wasn't to our liking because of the dressing, but that was manageable. That would be a reason for us to go there again. The ambience is also nice. However, that wasn't because there was a lot going on, as the place was almost empty.

This restaurant is a must for anyone visiting Dresden. Were 3 years ago. already excited and now again. The staff is so friendly, value for money is excellent. You get homemade flatbread as a starter. It tastes so delicious and you can't stop eating, and the main course comes about 20 minutes later. Nothing that doesn't taste good. You can't describe it. If you like Turkish cuisine, this is definitely the right place for you! Keep it up!!!

The food is very good. It's not that spicy and not that salty. The only problem is the toilets. It stinks and you lose your appetite if you have to go to the toilet first and you vomit after eating.

The food was tasty but there was a lot of it. However, this symbolizes the top price/performance ratio and attracts guests to come back. There was a small incident in between, but it wasn't a problem. The service was super nice and friendly and were there for you so that you felt like you were eating at mom's house. It was taken care of around the clock. Inside you can see how the food is freshly prepared as there is an open kitchen. As a small apology, the service gave everyone a round of baklava. This pleased us very much. We'd love to come back!

Great food! The portions are super inexpensive (four of us couldn't finish the whole four-man plate). Even though there were some problems that day, that doesn't change the fact that the evening was completely worth it. Always recommended!

Delicious food, especially the pide and the grill platter are definitely recommended! We were able to sit on the covered terrace in the rain at our own request. Ambiance inside very cozy. Menu very detailed. Unfortunately, the service only came by sporadically and had to draw our attention to us several times.

The location is also recommended for larger groups and children due to its location (not as crowded as the restaurants on the Altmarkt), the ambience (including bouncy castle), the quick service and the price-performance ratio.

The food was cold and served after a long time. Two of us got it, another 2 dishes were delivered late. Burnt meat in 2 dishes (grilled chicken) and burnt, bitter croutons in the next dish. On the plus side, the service lady was very nice.

Perfect as I expected! There are two Ocakbasi restaurants in Dresden and I always go to another one and it was my first time here, the food has the same quality but I like the atmosphere more than the other one in Neustadt.

Our drinks were not delivered and they also forgot that we had ordered lentil soup. After pointing this out to the staff, he said he didn't know we had ordered it. When we got the bill, we reported this incident to another employee and he said that both the lisen soup and the drinks were on the bill. Absolutely incomprehensible.
