Beautiful Alm great view...but schnitzel with fries...where you have to look for the schnitzel...definitely too expensive...otherwise nice...up there and friendly. .

First things first: The food was absolutely great! Had suckling pig from the buffet in the evening and it was just really good! We were here with a bachelorette party and everything was perfect. What I found disappointing and difficult to understand was the price structure. For “butter tamping” you pay €10 per person, so in our case you get 2 mashers, cream and spices for €80. Difficult. A campfire for €100 doesn't offer any opportunity to sit comfortably around it, the wood was damp and just smoked, so it wasn't that exciting. I found the prices for drinks in general to be quite high (wine spritzer €7). When asked what the WiFi password was (no one had reception here), the answer was simply “no one knows that”. We had a fun evening, and yet these facts unfortunately dampened the general perception somewhat.

Food was very tasty. Accommodation takes getting used to and too expensive. Room and breakfast not justified for the price. Location very nice. Pool was running but water was green. Hut is not maintained very much makeshift. For example, the vanity unit stands on wooden beams. Rooms are separated with panels to create more rooms with hardly any space and double occupancy.

We didn't like it at all. We came from the Taubenstein mountain station - the path was extremely bad! The Alpine pasture is uncomfortable, there was nothing nice about it. The view is pretty poor, the cabins on the Taubensteinbahn are shabby, the ride is unspectacular and far too expensive. Was an experience.

Cool cabin in a great location with nice kitchen staff but completely incompetent owner. Unfortunately, this destroys everything. Billing was only approximate and therefore incorrect. If you want to know exactly what you'll pay in the end, you're in the wrong place. Super unfriendly and invasive. Doesn't stick to agreements made: luggage transport, parking costs, etc. The owner's inner attitude is reflected in the atmosphere. Accepts the reservation for a 30-person JGA in one day and at the same time celebrates the birthday of a young woman in familiar company. No safe space. The idyll on the mountain is gone. In short: There is no guarantee of a nice day/night stay on the mountain. This will already be evident in the unclear communication in advance.

We spent one night here as a family (6 people) in three double rooms including half board. The booking was made online without any problems and the Monday before arrival Matthias (hut owner) got in touch to discuss everything finally. Our dog was also welcome on the mountain pasture. You will receive a parking ticket from Matthias so that you can park your car at the valley station of the Taubensteinbahn. Half board is included in the overnight price. This is in the form of a buffet for dinner and breakfast. We also try to take restrictions such as gluten intolerance into account. The rooms were all neat and clean, except the fact that you can't lock the rooms is seen as a minor drawback. There were a total of four showers available. For one shower stamp you could take a warm shower for three minutes. Overall, we had a lovely weekend at the Obere Maxlraineralm and would love to come back :)

The Alm is very beautifully located. Wonderful view of the valley. We were there 2 days ago and had apple strudel with vanilla sauce. We really enjoyed this one! The landlord is very nice and helpful. By chance we also met CHECKER TOBI, who our children enjoyed watching on TV. That was another unexpected highlight. We felt very comfortable there and can warmly recommend the Alm! There are also several rooms (2 bed rooms up to 14 bed rooms) to stay overnight, with half board. Christmas parties can be booked in winter, and large and well-known companies have taken advantage of this in the past. We will be back!

There is a lot of advertising here. Here it is self-service, which is basically okay. Food was okay, but not a highlight for a “rustic hut”. All in all, a pretty run-down hut. There's nothing original here...

A team that makes the best of the (perceivedly challenging) situation. - The food was consistently great, the prices fair. - The atmosphere is really nice and child-friendly. - Personally, I can't understand the bad reviews. If you don't count your change when you get it, it's your own fault. Cats and farm dogs are just part of life in the mountains.

Unfortunately we were totally disappointed by the hut and also the hut landlord. We had booked a shared room, but we were given a dirty flophouse that we could only reach by walking through the engine room of the gondola. In the bathroom we found used razors, some shampoos and shower gel that probably belonged to the hut owner and his employees. We had booked Kaiserschmarren as dessert for dinner, but we didn't receive any. We explained this problem to the hut landlord when paying, and after a long discussion he gave us back the money we had paid in advance for the dessert. The employees were always trying hard, the innkeeper tried to talk things through, although you can't talk things over here anymore.

Super nice alpine pasture near Spitzingsee. The climb takes about an hour and is easy to do, only the last part is a little more demanding. The Alm itself was recently renovated. The outdoor area absolutely invites you to linger and offers a small pool to cool off in hot weather. Inside, the alpine pasture is very rustic and definitely has a mountain hut feeling. The service is friendly and quick. This makes the view of the mountains twice as much fun.

Everything was great - great food, rustic hut with a great location and view, courteous & fast service! You can only wish for a stay in a managed hut!

We were completely ripped off. Unfortunately I can only report negatively about my experience. The owner spoke badly about his guests and about nearby cabins. We wanted to drink our coffee outside. The owner brought out the coffee for us but left the chairs, benches and tables wet from the rain. That would have been okay, but the worst was yet to come: When we paid in cash we received far too little change back. When we asked, the owner said that he couldn't understand that. He would be of the opinion that we paid with a €20 note instead of a €50 note. No solution was sought. He couldn't do anything. Those were probably the three most expensive drinks ever!

Unfortunately it was very dirty everywhere (including the beds). I'm not picky, but cats on the dining table, dirty blankets, trash under the bed, leftover food on and under the table - cats that just helped themselves to that. Bought shower tokens, but still only had ice water... we had to make sure the boiler was turned on ourselves. There were no promised or booked meals. Something was put together provisionally. Everything is very mediocre and in no way customer friendly! The previous agreements and commitments were ultimately empty words. Only Juan as an employee tried hard, but was powerless under the prevailing circumstances. The last breakfast booked was a lot because the employee overslept. We woke him up while he was still in bed with his shoes on... It's a shame that the theoretically nice location is being rocked so badly. Maybe it would help if the owner would take care of it instead of leaving assistants there alone.

Were there about a year ago. I don't think the owner has an eye on reality and is making things up. We were very disappointed and felt completely ripped off. It's a shame that he can't implement his plans and can apparently only stay afloat by disappointing a lot of people (see review, which shows a clear picture of how overwhelmed the supposed hut landlord is). Nothing is happening, the pasture has become a rubbish dump. This is what it looked like a year ago and current pictures document the lack of progress. It would be nice if the Alm had an owner who would make it what is documented in pictures from bygone times (hanging on the wall in the hut).

It's a rustic hut, unfortunately with a lot of construction site character. A lot of unfinished renovations. Unfortunately, the young man from the service didn't know anything about it, but he was “always trying hard” 😅. Unfortunately the boss could only be reached by phone. Food was good.

Last year I was scheduled to spend the night at the hut. After I couldn't go on the hike due to health reasons and unfortunately the mountain railway wasn't running yet, I had to cancel quite spontaneously. 100% of the half board price was charged for this. According to Internet/Dehoga, a cancellation fee of around 70-80% is permitted. Nobody wanted to give me an invoice for it either. Unfortunately the owner didn't respond to two emails, that shouldn't be the case. A pity.

Unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right at all. The Alm also looks like it is on a construction site. More suitable for having a drink and enjoying the beautiful view.

Yesterday we walked up in the snow. The host was nice and the food (suckling pig) was really good. Prices are completely ok for the service. Would go back straight away.

We were there 7 years ago. It was always very nice and good compared to now! (price performance ratio) Now the service was bad, you can tell that the hut has been renovated but is somehow cobbled together. The whole hut is a construction site inside and out!! (Open copper power cables on the ceiling in the dining area, windows in the sanitary area not fully installed, etc.) In the hut it was cold the whole time in the back room and it was very drafty. Yes, of course you are in a hut on the mountain, but the last time it was nowhere near this cold! Even though the fireplace had been running for hours, the room didn't get warm in the slightest. It was only bearable when you leaned against the fireplace. The front room was always nice and warm with the small oil heater. It was cold upstairs in the room, but you had thick blankets to sleep there. That's why it didn't bother us last time. The boss himself didn't really care about his guests. Felt disinterested! Types around on his smartphone for ages and leaves the customer standing there next to him instead of cashing in. The agreed reserved parking spaces did not exist! For a shuttle transfer up to Kissweg you would have had to pay €120. You would have had to walk the rest of the way, the actually steep section to the hut. Impossible for older or pregnant women! Last time there was a small snowmobile that drove from the parking lot at the bottom of the cable car all the way up to the hut. But that wasn't nearly as expensive. (Although you would now take inflation and increased fuel prices into account. Can't be compared) Subsequent feedback from the landlord is that the snowmobile is in the workshop. But it somehow fits with the overall impression of the huts and if you read the other reviews. This wasn't the case seven years ago. We won't come here next time!! Unfortunately! But I guess there's no value attached to it either. There are enough new people coming to the hut. There's no doubt that the view is beautiful, the way up and the short slope are fun with sleds or skis. But the hut itself to stop by and spend the night as it is now is no longer worth my money.

Here I ate the best Kaiserreich ever. Freshly prepared, it just tastes different! Very nice hut, we will come back with an overnight stay

An incredible place to spend a day outdoors in the Alps, enjoy a delicious homemade lunch, hike up Taubenstein and watch the sunset with a toboggan ride down. For only 25 euros! (incl. ski lift and meal) Highly recommend🤩

Zu Fuß parallel zum Lift durch den Wald ist es ein anspruchsvoller Weg zur Maxlrainalm. Die Belohnung erhält man dort bei leckerem Essen und Getränken. Zurück sind wir auf der Wiese nach unten. Sehr steil, aber war vom Weg besser als durch den Wald. Gute Schuhe mit passenden Geländesohlen sind wichtig.

Leider war an diesem Tag die Küche überfordert. Der Schweinebraten war zwar sehr lecker aber nur lauwarm und die Klöße und Soße waren kalt. Wieder in die Küche gegeben, habe ich es nicht wiederbekommen. Als ich nachgefragt habe, wo denn das Essen bleibt, wurde sich entschuldigt und auf den großen Stress hingewiesen. Da war gerade ein viertel der Tische besetzt. Deshalb insgesamt nur 4 Sterne. Sonnst ist diese Alm ein Besuch wert. Spielmöglichkeiten für die Kinder und ein mega Blick.

Zum 1.11. den sehr freundlichen Inhaber mit seinem GeländeTransporter/ Bus auf dem Weg zur Alm kennengelernt. Wie von ihm versprochen ist der Kaiserschmarrn sehr gut. Die Aussicht vom Sitzplatz vor der Hütte ist unbeschreiblich schön. Gern kommen wir zurück zu diesem perfekten Platz.

Der Beste Kaiserschmarren der Welt

Tolle Lage mit sehr schönem Blick. Viele Außentische. Leider war um 11 Uhr der Koch noch nicht da und es gab noch kein warmes Essen. Der Apfelstrudel war aber lecker und der Service sehr nett. Hinweis: Kartenzahlung erst ab 20 Euro möglich.

Schöne Almhütte am Spitzingsee, kleine Wanderung von ca. 60 Minuten. Der Aufstieg lohnt, leckere Speisen und Getränke gepaart mit einem tollen Ausblick 🤩

Wir sind gestern ganz spontan zu dieser wunderschönen Alm gewandert Traumlage, traumhafte Aussicht und super Spanferkel, Suppe und Kaiserschmarren . Preise absolut in Ordnung. So ein nettes Team, dafür nochmal großes Kompliment. Dankeschön nochmal für die Besichtigung der oberen Etage . Wir kommen garantiert wieder und dann mit Übernachtung 😉. Liebste Grüße aus München

Freundlicher Service und Wahnsinns Ausblick.

Wir haben meinen Geburtstag auf der Alm verbracht. Wir hatten total Glück, weil gleichzeitig ein Junggesellenabschied samt Blaskapelle vor Ort war, was den Aufenthalt praktisch perfekt gemacht hat - die Stimmung war super! Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut, das hätte ich gar nicht erwartet auf einer so kleinen Hütte. Der Service war zwar langsam, aber total nett. Das Doppelzimmer war winzig für den Preis (mein Mann konnte sich mit seinen 188cm im Bett nicht ganz ausstrecken), es gab lediglich ein kleines Wandregal zwischen Tür und Bett, aber der Ausblick und die Luft und das idyllische Kuhglockenläuten - ein absoluter Traum! Ringsum Kühe und Ziegen, es war tatsächlich einer meiner schönsten Geburtstage - vielen Dank dafür ans Maxlrainer-Team!

Wir waren zum Kaffeetrinken dort. Sehr freundlicher Wirt und super Lage.

Wir waren vor kurzem mit einem JGA mit 21 Erwachsenen, 4 Kindern und einem Baby auf der Oberen Maxlraineralm. Bei Ankunft wurde uns vom Wirt mitgeteilt, dass wir ja viel mehr Personen sind, als angemeldet waren, was natürlich nicht stimmte (E-Mail-Verlauf + Bestätigung waren vorhanden). Daraufhin kam es kurzfristig zu Zimmerengpässen, die aber glücklicherweise noch behoben werden konnten (aus welchen Gründen auch immer). Am nächsten Morgen bei der Abrechnung kam es dann wieder zu Komplikationen, da laut dem Wirt 25 Erwachsene und nicht 21 Erwachsene, 4 Kinder und 1 Baby angemeldet waren, was wiederum auf irgendwelche Hirngespinste beruhte. Somit wurden auch die Kinder (zwischen 2 und 4 Jahren) mit dem vollen Preis berechnet. Aber jetzt kommt der Brüller für den vollen Preis: Er hätte ja sonst die 4 Erwachsenen-Plätze, die ja eigentlich Kinder waren, anderweitig vergeben können, wenn er das gewusst hätte. Wir erinnern uns, am Vortag hatte man uns mitgeteilt, dass wir mit unserer Gruppe mehr Leute sind, als angemeldet waren. Finde den Fehler… Wie schon gesagt, E-Mail-Verlauf war vorhanden. Bzgl. der Bestätigung der Anzahl wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass diese eine neue Mitarbeiterin bestätigte, die erst seit zwei Tagen hier war und sich noch nicht so ausgekannt hat. Uns eigentlich schnurzpiepegal, wer das bestätigt hat. Das Ende vom Lied war, nachdem wir den Streitigkeiten aus dem Weg gehen wollten, dass man uns für die Kinder nur die Übernachtung ohne Verpflegung in Rechnung stellte. Das Baby wurde Gott sei Dank nicht in Rechnung gestellt. Essen war übrigens OK, ebenso die Zimmer. Der vorhandene Pool hat auch schon lange kein frisches Wasser mehr gesehen; gibt vielleicht Gründe dafür. Jetzt folgt dann natürlich, wie bei den schon vorhandenen Rezensionen nachvollziehbar, ein obligatorischer Kommentar des Wirts, wo er versuchen wird, sich rauszureden. "Falsche Teilnehmerzahl angemeldet", "keine Kinder angemeldet", "strafrechtliche Verfolgung" usw. und sofort. Aber wie schon gesagt, alles in den E-Mails abrufbar und archiviert (falls jemand einen Nachweis braucht). Also achtet bei Eurer Buchung darauf, dass Ihr alles schriftlich habt (Anzahl, Preis etc.), am besten ausgedruckt, weil auf der Alm hat man wenig bis gar kein Netz. Ansonsten hat es ja nichts auszusetzen gegeben…

Schöne Hütte, leider noch nicht komplett renoviert; was man an der ein oder anderen Ecke bemerkt. Zimmer war super. Essen gab es wenig Auswahl aber war lecker ! Super für Übernachtungen nach dem wandern oder auch super für Firmen feiern oder sonstige events

Das Essen ist top! Die Küche leistet wirklich Herausragendes!👍🙂 Zimmer sind okay und für eine Hütte angemessen. Preis/Leistung der Zimmer kann man diskutieren, aber letztendlich entlohnt die Lage!😉

Unglaublich liebes Personal an der Gondelstation, toller Service und bestes Hopf Bier! Großes Lob für die kostenlosen Damenhygieneprodukte auf der Toilette! Einziger Verbesserungsvorschlag fürs nächste Mal wäre noch Pflanzenmilch für den Kaffee.

Wir haben im Juni mit 50 Gästen meinen 50. Geburtstag auf der Alm gefeiert und es hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Für sportliche Menschen ist die Hütte vom Spitzingsee aus gut zu Fuß zu erreichen, alle anderen nehmen die Gondel und müssen dann nur noch 10 Minuten bergab laufen. Die Lage und die Aussicht der Alm sind ein Traum. Der Gastraum ist urig und gemütlich und war schön dekoriert. Das Essen war frisch und super lecker, inkl. dem Salatbuffet. Die Getränkeauswahl ist für eine Alm, zu der alles mit der Materialseilbahn gebracht werden muß, groß. Zum Frühstück gab es neben Weißwurst und Müsli sogar frisches Obst. Der Service war sehr gut und freundlich. Wir durften lange und laut tanzen und feiern. Draußen gab es ein tolles, riesengroßes Lagerfeuer. Die Betten sind schmal (ist halt eine Hütte) dafür aber sehr gemütlich, mit kuscheligen Decken. Perfekt wird es sein, wenn oben bei den Schlafräumen bald die Toilette fertig ist. Matthias, der Wirt, ist nett, unkompliziert und hilfsbereit. Für Tourentipps steht er jederzeit zur Verfügung. Auch Gepäcktransfer wird angeboten. Es war ein unvergessliches Fest und ich kann die Hütte für Menschen, die keinen Wert auf einen Rollkoffer und großen Luxus legen, wirklich empfehlen!

Gemütliche Hütte - toller Wirt - tolles Essen - grandiose Lage mit tollem Fernblick- ein besonderer Platz

Wir hatten schon im November gebucht für eine Familien Feier, alle Zimmer waren gebucht und bestätigt. Als wir am Samstag ankamen hiess es, es wäre überbucht. Einige von uns mussten dann ihr Zimmer räumen und umziehen, wir wurden in Massenzimmer gesteckt, was so nicht geplant war. Wir hatten auch für zwei Personen ein Spezialmenü bestellt, nichts kompliziertes, was auch nicht geklappt hat. Abends waren dann noch die Toiletten verstopft und alles kam aus der Dusche wieder hoch, während noch Personen am Duschen waren. Es war ein Geburtstagsfest und es war unglaublich schade, es kam keine wirkliche Feierstimmung auf. Des Weiteren war der Service unglaublich langsam. Für die ganzen Unannehmlichkeiten bekamen wir übrigens keinen Rabatt oder so. Man musste lediglich die 3 Personen die kurzfristig absagen mussten nicht bezahlen, was bei einer Überbuchung auch lächerlich ist. Ein eher enttäuschender Aufenthalt...

Wie könnte ich einen Ort beschreiben, der den Ausblick auf das Herz der Berge hat "Schinder" und mein Herz berührt. Es sind die Menschen die einen Ort zu etwas besonderem machen! Das Team der Alm, das Essen ... eine Atmosphäre ... unglaublich 😍 EIGENTLICH darf ich gar nicht so viel Werbung machen 😉 ... Dennoch rufe ich hier ausdrücklich dazu auf, UNS allen bewusst zu machen unter welchen Bedingungen die Alm bewirtet wird und wie kostbar unsere Ressourcen (z.B. Wasser) unserer Mutter Erde sind. Wer den Luxus eines 5 Sterne Hotels erwartet - sollte auch in ein 5 Sterne Hotel gehen! Wer Ruhe, Mutter Natur, die Kraft der Berge und SICH spüren will ist hier genau richtig! 😍 Ich komme wieder - DANKE

Ich war heute mit meiner Familie auf der Alm, ich habe mich schon auf die schönen Speisen gefreut da die Speisekarte sehr verlockend war. Als wir oben angekommen sind hat mich eine Böse Überraschung erwartet. Es waren fast die Hälfte aller Gerichte nicht vorhanden. Ein Schlechter Witz wie ich finde. Auch als wir dann weiter gezogen sind und auf die 10min entgegnete Gondel Station gehen wollten wurde uns auch erzählt das es dort ja noch weniger Speisen gibt was auch eine glatte Lüge war. Fazit wir werden die Alm nicht mehr besuchen. Schönen Dank auch.

Danke für den schönen Nachmittag 🌞 oben bei euch. Wir sind spontan am frühen Nachmittag hoch und waren fast allein oben. Die Aussicht und die Lage auf der Terrasse sind ein Traum. Die Kaspressknödelsuppe war unglaublich lecker und wir haben diese beim intensiven Gespräch mit Euch genossen. Wir kommen das nächste Mal und übernachten. Nici & Christoph

Wir waren schon öfters auf Hütten unterwegs, überzeugt hat uns die obere Maxlraineralm jedoch leider nicht. Positiv: - Lage der Hütte - Kaiserschmarrn Negativ: - die Hütte an sich, ist leider anders als auf den Bildern, etwas verbaut bzw. im Umbau befindlich. Im Umfeld der Hütte liegt div. Baumaterial, Bauschutt - wenig idyllisch. - Essen ist leider nicht besonders lecker - Preis Leistung sehr schlecht. (Kaiserschmarrn ausgenommen). - Hütte war sehr kalt (Ende Mai/Anfang Juni) - Winterjacke notwendig! - Hüttenwirt leider ohne jegliche Empathie. - Hütte generell sehr lieblos. Wir können die Hütte leider nicht empfehlen, wenn dann ist Rotwandhaus zu empfehlen. [Nachtrag: Ein guter Gastgeber fragt die Gäste über das Wohlbefinden Ihres Aufenthaltes, gerade auch, wenn man als angeblicher Hüttenwirt im Tal nächtigt und das amatuerhafte Abendessen von "Freunden" zubereitet wird...... ...und am Ende die Gäste bis 9Uhr warten mussten, bis der Chef endlich wieder den Weg auf die Hütte gefunden hatte um die Gäste abkassieren zu können - wirklich eine chaotisch geführte Hütte...]

Wir waren dort inkl. Übernachtung. Sehr netter Gastgeber. Sanitäranlagen sind modernisiert und sauber wenn auch nicht sehr großzügig (1 Herrentoilette). Der Gastraum ist tw. zugig. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Die Betten sind leider sehr kurz. Die anderen Gäste haben leider sich an keinerlei Nachtruhe gehalten.

Wir waren für einen Junggesellenabschied auf der Oberen Maxlraineralm und hatten tolle Tage - vom Essen, über die sanitären Anlagen bis hin zu den Schlafmöglichkeiten hat alles super gepasst 😃. Wer am Spitzingsee einen Ausflug plant, sollte unbedingt vorbeischauen 😃!

Immer wieder gerne bin ich dort oben, tolle Aussicht, gutes Essen, feindliches Personal. Zu Zimmer kann ich nicht's sagen ...

Sind am 22.2.2023 dort gewesen. Gerstensuppe und Kaiserschmarrn gegessen - der beste Kaiserschmarrn je! Die letzten 600 m sind recht steil; beschwerlich, wenn man in der Liftspur bei tiefem, weichem Schnee gehen muss. Aber die Anstrengung lohnt sich. Sehr nette Wirtsleute.
