Nice place in the heart of Munich. We enjoyed the food and the service was excellent.

Even at the Viktualienmarkt branch, the food is no good; unfortunately, the tourists don't know any better...

Unfortunately the fish in the burger was entirely raw. Had to throw it out. Staff was nice.

The octopus is very good, and the seafood is delicious. The salad menu is really full of salad, rather than shrimp. It's pleasant to eat as much as you like in the square.

Fried fish.....to kill the worm, nothing more.

Went to Nordsee today. Tried the paella – honestly a 2/10. It didn’t resemble paella at all. It felt more like a seafood/fish soup with rice than an actual paella. The oysters were about a 6/10 – not bad, but definitely not as fresh as expected. The octopus, though, was a solid 10/10 – super tasty and cooked really well. The chef was nice and helpful, especially since we don’t speak German – he gave us some good advice in English. At times, he came off as a bit sharp or arrogant, but overall he was okay. If we were to go back, it would be only for the octopus. As for the place itself – it’s decent for a street market in the city center, but honestly, a bit overpriced.

There are so many fish products that it can drive fish lovers like me crazy. I had a salmon burger, it was legendary. The price is reasonable.

Third visit to Munich, again a long layover. I took the opportunity to stroll around and eat at the market again. This time I went to the fish restaurant, the largest stall in the market. It's open very early, so it's no problem going at practically any time. They have a wide variety of sandwiches and fish dishes, and there are two areas to order. I chose the Bisckmark sandwich, Chancellor Otto's favorite. It has Sauerlappen herring, onion, pickle, and parsley. The herring was delicious; I'm quite a fan of herring; it goes wonderfully with other items. The baguette was fine, although since it's kept in a cold storage room, it loses a bit. If they made it fresh, the sandwich would be better on bread. The size is about 15 cm. Summary: For something other than meat. Price: €7.23 with a small bottle of water. Rating: 6.7

The giant plaice for 18 euros was completely burnt on the underside. The taste of coal lingered in my mouth for hours. The fries were so dry, you could only eat the middle. I had to leave half because I couldn't even put a fork in it.

There are many types of fresh fish and seafood available. If you wish, you can buy it and take it home, or you can cook it and eat it. I think what I ate was fresh and delicious, especially the octopus bug was very good.

We were at North Sea a few minutes ago and unfortunately we weren't happy. Even though we had been waiting for a few minutes, the gentleman did not serve us. Instead he served a lady who would have been next to us. When we asked him about it, he treated us rudely. This was very disappointing and had a very negative impact on our visit. Left immediately.

Unfortunately, employee Sherzad is not great at serving customers in the right order. We stood there for a few minutes until he came out of the kitchen relaxed. Basically it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't first serve the girls who came after us. We told him we've been waiting a lot longer. Then he says we have to wait because he has to get the girls drinks before we order our food. That means we have to wait for half a dozen people who came after us. Absolute nonsense...we left

It used to be my favorite seafood in Germany but the quality went really bad. I am not going back again unfortunately.

I don't speak German and thus simply ordered by pointing. The lady was very helpful and process was efficient. I got an excellent piece of fried fish, potato chips and spargel I think it's called; looks like white asparagus in a creamy sauce. Awesome food! Sorry I forgot to take photos.

It's a light meal at a good price (14.79 combo with a coke) for a tourist spot. You can get a quick bite to eat because it's a kind of fast food. So, take it as such. A pint of beer was 4.79. It wasn't very crowded.

It is a chain fish restaurant with a clean dining environment and a good atmosphere. The meals are also quite delicious. You can choose main dishes and side dishes. Although the price is really sky-high compared to Taiwan, it is still acceptable in Germany. A meal for four people costs more than 60 euros, especially a drink which seems to cost 2 or 3 euros.

Can you save food cold unfriendly service

Unfortunately, the newly offered salmon burger is ice cold and therefore hardly edible. At the checkout it appears €4.79 for a baguette, but the correct price was €7.99. Someone is lining their own pockets here.

The service provided by the lady is terrible. The only saving grace is the different food. But I won't be back to receive such bad service.

Fish and potatoes are oily zero zero zero

In this North Sea there is also a part of the room where there is more exclusive food. I ate the new salmon burger in the normal North Sea section as a menu for €12. The guacamole and vegetables were very fresh. The salmon patty was really a whole piece of salmon, I was very pleasantly surprised. All in all the burger was good.

Wir waren noch nie essen und haBen ein solches arrogantes und unfreundliches Personal erlebt. Wir wollten mit 9 Personen essen und es kam schon bei der Speisenauswahl zum Eklat. Ein Gast sagte uns schon, dass die Kellner nicht gut drauf seien. Dies hat sich mehr als bestätigt! Die Kellner sind uns beide ungebührlich angegangen sodass wir sofort das Lokal verlassen haben.

The smaller branch of the "Nordsee Fischhalle", later just North Sea, opened in 1898, of the "Deutsche Dampffischerei-Gesellschaft Nordsee", founded in Bremen in 1896. There are three much better fishmongers at Viktualienmarkt than the North Sea. So go here to eat something on site? Not really either. The fish dishes on offer are no longer worth their significantly increased price. Things were different a good 10 years ago.

Ordered fish & chips. The fries are not tasty but the fish is good. Service: I ordered via Uber Eats and the lady from the new federal states simply canceled my order for no reason and dismissed me with a “bye bye”. This flippant and disrespectful behavior cannot be tolerated.

Since the other two fish shops on the Viktualienmarkt were full, I thought I would try a fish soup at the North Sea. The soup was rather tasteless and not very hot. I expected more. The ambience is familiar, like a kind of fast food restaurant. The service wasn't unfriendly, but it wasn't very engaging. Shopping for something is ok, but not eating there. There are better alternatives.

One of the reasons I come to Munich is to eat here. The bar was closed this evening. We couldn't drink champagne. Tomorrow is my luck. Everyone who loves seafood should definitely come here.

Horrible and worst customer service in Germany ever! A tall guy with black hair waiter was extremely rude and bad! He was inside that round counter with drinks inside the counter. We a family of 4 people ordered three meals as one of us not wanting to eat, we tried to grab 4 chairs to sit together, he was kind of shouting: "why took all his chairs?!" I asked if he was not together with the restaurant, he said yes, they were same restaurant but we ordered three meals we should take three chairs! What a joke! He was not in the right mind and should be fired with this kind of thinking and attitude to customers! A nice day ruined by that black hair tall waiter!!

War schlecht, unappetitlich und unfreundlich. Unhygienisch bis oben, Taube hat keinen Angestellten interessiert bis eine Kundin darauf angesprochen hat. Im Endeffekt hat die Kundin selbst den größten Einsatz gezeigt die Taube zu entfernen.

excellently prepared fish and side dishes

Me and my parents ate at this restaurant around 7pm when we were in vacation in Munich. A lot of the local eateries had already closed around this time, so we were glad to see this place still open. We ordered a salmon with rice pilaf combo that was pretty good. We also had a variety of drinks to choose from. Overall it was a good place to eat around the late hours.

We got a cone of fish and chips here. There was a slight queue, they only give you three small pieces of fish which I think was a little unfair and an okay portion of chips, the price is okay however considering the portion size you should get more. This isn’t ’proper fish and chips’ like they do in the Uk.. the chips aren’t the same! Was slightly put off that it was all sitting under a hot plate, but it still tasted good.

Great atmosphere. Fresh and tasty fish with side dish. Fast service. But there are lots of dirty dishes from previous visitors on the tables. I had to find a table. There are no napkins on the tables. And of course I would like to receive a receipt for my lunch I paid around 16 euros for lunch

The small snack bar next door is an attempt to deliver North Sea on the go - fries (even fresh) are tasteless, the things that should otherwise be warm are cold and dry. The service staff was friendly but visibly overwhelmed by the rush.

Find memories of eating from Nordsee at the Frankfurt Hbf and so was keen to try in Munich too after many years. Good quality and inexpensive snacks particularly good on a dreary Saturday afternoon

I think it's outrageous that the soup costs almost €10 and you get a spoonful in the bowl of soup, a bowl of soup has to be 80% felt and not just a spoonful if you say something they always say the portion is normal, then you have to have small plates But that's ridiculous for 9€ such a small soup.. and fish you also get three potatoes and small spoonfuls of vegetables and even if the potatoes are often mini potatoes you still get three..

Recommended by a friend, that Nordsee served various seafood + wine, a must try at Viktualienmarkt. Well, i ordered grilled salmon with vegetable, grilled seafood platter & Paella. My verdict is that Paella was a bit wet but taste good (I believe the serving in plate prohibit moisture to evaporate vs serving it in a steaming hot pan) the grilled seafood platter is average, as the shrimp (with shell removed) did not release the typical charred aroma as it should. While for the salmon, I give a thumb up, as the fillet is nicely grilled & sufficient juice still intact & the vegetables, I must say it exceed my expectation, look like it steal the limelight of the grill salmon. The Oktoberfest atmosphere at the adjacent Biergarten spice up the dinning mode… overall great place to visit.

Just tried to have an expensive lunch here but it wasn't possible. After waiting for 20 minutes with no service, I asked the gentleman behind the counter, who was packing coffee cups away, if we could place an order. He responded, condescendingly, "When I'm done here, I will serve you." So we left and are now spending a lot of money around the corner at Poseidon.

Die Atmosphäre erinnerte eher an eine Kaserne als an ein gemütliches Fast Food Restaurant. Die meisten Mitarbeiter waren unfreundlich, nur der Mann an der Kasse war eine Ausnahme. Wo ich dann ein Wasser mitnahm… Ich bestellte Fisch mit Pommes, doch leider waren die Pommes gerade aus. Als Alternative wurden mir Bratkartoffeln angeboten, die ich jedoch ablehnte. Auf meine Frage, wie lange die Pommes dauern würden, erhielt ich nur die Antwort in einen Kasernen Ton . Musst Zeit haben." Kannst ja Bratkartoffeln nehmen . Diese unhöfliche Reaktion führte dazu, dass ich meinen Fisch nicht mehr wollte und das Restaurant verließ. Ein echter Münchner teilte mir noch mit, dass die Münchener High Society ohnehin nicht bei Nordsee essen würde. Insgesamt war dies eine sehr negative Erfahrung, und ich werde dieses Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen. Andere Wirtshäuser in München bieten deutlich bessere Erlebnisse. Fazit Nie wieder Nordsee. Der Service war unfreundlich und die Atmosphäre unangenehm. Andere Wirtshäuser in München bieten deutlich bessere Erfahrungen.

Special and fresh seefood! We enjoyed a lot! All the various fish dish were showed in the cabinet. We ordered a fish soup set, there's fresh fish in the soup. Delicious grilled shrimp, bun and one glass of softdrink. A shrimp salad bowl and the bowl was eatable. It's absolutely special for us, and we like the taste. Three potato cakes with coleslaw. Delicious and you can't find kids not like that! The restaurant is clean with the vibes is just I like, and the WC is at the basement.

Nordsee is the best branch. However, the employees are quite unfriendly and stressed. But he gave me a double portion of tartar sauce, hence 4 stars.

Like the other reviews said: this is a very bad place! Rude and nasty staff! The one in the drink & sea food area, black hair, talk and strong was extremely bad! He was short tempered and shouted for no reason. Felt very bad for that day because him and that place!

We took the food with us - the bag for the food is nothing! This falls apart when worn - be careful! - our food ended up on the floor! Well then…. Enjoy your meal! 🙁

Always great fresh fish, but can get pretty crowded on peak hours, organisation is pretty manageable though, even if everyone stays in their „Bereich“😂, so if you come in from the door where fresh fish is being sold the lady is bound to show little to no interest on showing you where you can order food!

Please train your employees urgently!!! There was some rubbish lying around. When asked about the allergen card, they replied that they didn't know anything and the suggestions were inadequate, which is why there were complaints afterwards. They didn't even know the name of the beer the employees were selling and replied with "Hama not"... Disappointing!
