Nish Nush in Köln

Such a cool place to wine and dine, friendly staffs and ancient ambience. Must try their mama style fries and shreded chicken with falafel.

There were four of us there, the atmosphere of the shop is nice - the food is okay but unfortunately the price is a little too high, overall it's rather greasy. 3/4 people didn't tolerate the food (even vegan) well.

Tables too small, too narrow for tall people, otherwise quite nice.

The food was fresh and delicious, but could have used a bit more spice, meaning a stronger flavor. The Amba sauce was unfortunately very thin. The mint lemonade was very tasty. Overall, it was good.

You get super tasty and inexpensive food here and the cocktail menu is very diverse. We sat outside, the atmosphere is very cozy, the food came without a long wait, highly recommended.

We received the wrong order and then forgot half of it. Unfortunately, the cauliflower was a bit overcooked. After a long wait, we finally left feeling quite frustrated and hungry. The employee didn't seem to care. No apology or even a small "sorry." It didn't come across as very cool.

We've been wanting to try Israeli food for a while and happened to walk past the restaurant. On our first visit we were warmly welcomed by the atmosphere and the service. Food & drinks arrived quickly and tasted excellent. We will definitely come back, perhaps with friends. So any recommendation is worth taking a look at.

I came across Nish Nush because I like to eat from all countries in the world like Italy, Türkiye, European food, but I noticed that the food was advertised as an Israeli restaurant. However, it is noticeable that many of the dishes actually come from other regions. Hummus has its roots in Lebanon and Palestine, falafel originally comes from Egypt, shawarma has its origins in Syria/Türkiye, and shakshuka comes from Tunisia. It is misleading to describe these dishes as Israeli, as they have been an integral part of Levantine and North African cuisine for centuries. Those looking for authentic Levantine cuisine may want to look elsewhere.

Atmosphere like one of the countless street restaurants in Tel Aviv, and all the delicacies that are there are also available here. Authentic, delicious and great variety. Plus a service that obviously enjoys the work - the audience is in a correspondingly good mood. I'll definitely come by again!

Food wasn't good at all and not authentic at all, which is to be expected, is Arabic food but not an Arabic restaurant. There are enough Arabic restaurants in Cologne that know how to do it and are not imitations.

The food is incredible, such big portions and really tasty too. It’s a cute spot, the space is fairly narrow, so ideal for couples or small groups. Highly recommend the royal Jerusalem.

The dishes are all Arabic Levantine cuisine. I didn't see anything Israeli about it on the menu. It wasn't a real experience...I would have gone to the Lebanese place around the corner for dinner :-(

I don't know where these 5 star reviews come from. Food that should be served hot is cold and what defines Arabic, yes Arabic, cuisine is the intensity of taste. You can look for them here for a long time. The food is not original, so it's better to give this place a wide berth. And very importantly, if the toilet is already in such a condition, I don't want to know how bad the hygiene in the kitchen is

You can't make a reservation here, but the wait is worth it. Mega delicious cuisine, everything ready super quickly and the service is also great. I can highly recommend it

Service great, food not. I've been there several times but unfortunately it doesn't taste good anymore. Had the fries with oyster mushroom hummus and salad. The conditions are no longer right. Very very few fries, hummus was really a joke in terms of quantity. Had a maximum of 1 tablespoon of it on the plate. The mushrooms were way too much, completely over-seasoned and just a big slimy mountain. The mayo tasted best.

Top restaurant, the best food in a long time

A beautiful restaurant, it was a bit small but very cozy. Food was very, very tasty. Unbelievable 😀 The waitress was a girl who was very nice not only with us but with everyone. It makes an impression and I really liked it. Next time we come to Cologne we will visit it again.

The restaurant impresses with its extremely courteous staff and consistently pleasant service, which contributes to the inviting atmosphere. The falafel impress with a finely balanced taste, with a strong spiciness intensifying the taste experience - perhaps a little challenging for sensitive palates like mine, but still harmoniously integrated and certainly ideal for lovers of spicy flavors. Particularly noteworthy is the outdoor area, where radiant heaters ensure comfort even on cooler days. The ambience is lovingly designed and creates an atmospheric setting for a relaxed visit. The portion sizes are perfectly measured and underline the excellent price-performance ratio. A thoroughly recommended culinary experience!

Love this place! The staff is super friendly, and the portions are generous. The food is packed with flavor, and the fries are so crunchy and delicious! The location is perfect too, it’s a great spot to chill and enjoy some good food. Definitely recommend if you’re looking to have a nice time and a tasty meal!

Prices seem to increase weekly. Don't come anymore. Bowl used to cost just under €12, now €15. Incredible.

We were here on a Saturday evening and loved it. The restaurant was very busy and we were lucky to get a seat. Nevertheless, the service staff were very friendly and the food was very good. We'd love to come back.

The food was absolutely top notch. For the price you really get something and no one has to get up hungry. I had hummus with pita bread, beetroot, walnuts and feta cheese. The menu isn't particularly extensive, but most of the dishes are also available with meat substitutes, which are also really tasty. The decor is nice and you can also sit outside on the street. The only deduction for the service is because we only got 3 of the 4 main courses we ordered and the 4th person only got their food after 20 minutes and a request. One person had ordered an extra loaf of bread, which also went missing. But then it was fixed.

If you come here to enjoy authentic Israeli food, you're in the wrong place here. Not a single dish is Israeli, but rather from the Levantine cuisine.

Small, cozy Israeli restaurant with many different dishes on the menu. I found the atmosphere very cozy. The staff was friendly, but in our opinion they could have stopped by more often. The food came quickly. There are many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I had the Traditional Plate of Vegetarian Shawarma. I found the food quite greasy, unfortunately too greasy. I especially didn't like the fries. The “meat” was too spicy for me and I didn’t find the hummus that tasty either. I find the dishes quite expensive. All in all, unfortunately I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

Very nice location with a relaxed atmosphere. You can linger there. The Tel Aviv dish was incredibly tasty and the kebab on top was juicy. It's definitely worth it to enjoy a carefree evening with friends over good food. It definitely wasn't the last time I was there. :-)

Here you can tell that passion reigns in the kitchen. A place I can definitely recommend!

It's a very small cute restaurant in the heart of Cologne. The food tastes great, but maybe a little too little for some people for the price. But every dish tastes freshly prepared. I can only recommend the cocktails!

Disappointing handling of my burnt malawach complaint Unfortunately, my last visit to Nish Nush was anything but satisfactory. The first malawach we received was noticeably burnt. When we complained about this, the complaint was only received reluctantly, which already left a negative impression. To our surprise, we received the exact same Malawach back with only the burnt areas scraped off. This is unacceptable, especially considering that the complaint has already been disputed. Such an approach shows little appreciation for the guests. Afterwards we received a delicious malawach. In summary, the handling of the complaint and therefore the evening was very disappointing. I would have liked a more professional and customer-oriented response. The other dishes were delicious, but the handling of the complaint spoiled the lovely evening... Hence only one star! Too bad...

I ordered the dish Nish Nush with mixed meat there. I think the hummus tastes very tasty. I can never finish my plate because the portions are so large. Highly recommended with friends and family.

It tasted very good! Fallen apple could taste a little better. You should try homemade lemonade with turmeric and ginger!

Another restaurant at this location would be great. Meat, salad, everything below average. fries as a side dish. conceptually completely illogical. And then order at the counter instead of service.

The food was fine, especially the soja based shawarma, though otherwise not super special. The problem was that I found a bug at the bottom (so well inside) of my pita. When I told the staff they just said 'oh, ok' and then continued on. No apology, no acknowledgement, no other reaction. That may be even worse than the bug itself.

Very friendly and fast service, very interesting, extensive menu and fair prices. However, the pitas we ordered weren't great; there was too much meat and too much sauce. The overall composition wasn't right, the pickled vegetables didn't come through in terms of taste.

Nish Nush in Cologne offers an outstanding experience for lovers of authentic Israeli cuisine.

We were here for lunch today (7/18/24). I found it a bit unusual that you have to order at the counter and pay directly. The meal was okay. My daughter had the Shakshuka Grandma’s Recipe. That was fantastic. I had the Haifas Street Shishlik, which was OK. Unfortunately it was too burnt and therefore had too much “roasted aroma”. The same with the Greenball Falaffel. These were also quite bitter because they had been fried for too long. The mint lemonade, on the other hand, was the final boss!!! Delicious. We would be happy to come back.

Pedí Roasted Eggplant de entrada y Teller Aviv de segundo. El segundo hubiese sido suficiente, pero me alegro de haber pedido la berenjena. Probablemente uno de los platos más deliciosos que he probado en mi vida. Venía con Tahini, Granada y piñones. Espectacular!

Tried Israeli cuisine for the first time and it was really delicious. Overall quite oily and heavy but still tasty. Unfortunately, you go in to order and then take out your own cutlery. But overall we liked it.

I really like this place. It’s very tasty food that anyone can eat. They have a huge vegetarian selection . Staff is very friendly and the dish was very delicious. The only thing is not enough bread for this portion size. But the bread is fresh and very tasty . I had the Nish Nush with lamb meat and home-made iced tea. Iced tea, wolf, not that nice it was very tasteless but sometimes it happens The restaurant has a very modern design and it’s very cozy and the outside area is on one of the busiest streets of Cologne where many different restaurants are located and especially in the evening it’s very beautiful . In conclusion a nice place with very safe food where you can go with anyone.

I have mixed feelings about Nish Nush. I had shawarma with hummus and the Jerusalem salad. The hummous was super tasty, as was the salad, but I was a bit surprised that it was a normal salad with tomatoes and pine nuts. Other than the bread, I couldn't really relate this to Israeli cuisine. The shawarma was tasty but quite greasy. Unfortunately, the food was heavy on my stomach. I found the stay in the restaurant okay. We sat outside. We informed our table neighbors that they had to order inside. Unfortunately, there is no clear indication at the table. Overall, I found the prices too expensive for virtually no service. I ordered again with friends a few weeks later. Again the shawarma with hummus, with fries. The fries arrived as a soggy lump. Yes, it's a challenge to deliver fries, but no effort was made to bring them to the customer as crisp as possible. Unfortunately I had to throw away the fries. Food was again really heavy on my stomach. Overall, somehow tasty but also clearly a lot of room for improvement....

I spontaneously remembered as I was passing by that I hadn't had shakshuka in a long time — and we also tried the falafel and hummus. Everything was absolutely delicious and highly recommended.

I've been there several times now and I think it's really great. Hummus very tasty, portions are very large, fries also good… cauliflower…. Mint lemonade… everything was perfect. Price very very humane. If you're not stupid and open your eyes, you'll immediately notice that you have to order at the counter... I also think it's great that there is a small Israeli oasis in Cologne, the shop is much better than the Arab alternatives.

We visited Nish Nush one evening and were able to get a table when the house was full. The gentleman at the counter pointed out to us that orders should only be placed at the counter. The table we were given was very small and unfortunately not particularly clean. The overall atmosphere in the restaurant was quite nice, but not overwhelming. It was well attended, which surprised us a bit in retrospect. The service was overall okay, but without any special attention. There were two men in service who didn't look at us and didn't talk to us or ask if everything was okay. Two ladies in service were wearing extremely skimpy shorts, but only one of them was friendly and gave us a smile. No one in service asked us if the food was tasty or if we were satisfied, which was very unusual. The food was served relatively quickly, but the quality left a lot to be desired. The fries were burnt and drowned in oil. The hummus was bitter and tasted excessively like sesame. The other dips and sauces were unremarkable in taste and some were really inedible. One of the sauces with turmeric was completely tasteless, and another sauce was basically just oil and some greens, which wasn't a highlight. The chicken shawarma was extremely greasy, and the vegan shawarma was also drenched in oil. Overall, the food was difficult to digest and left us with an unpleasant feeling in our stomachs. There was a lack of fresh vegetables that could have balanced out the heaviness of the dishes. Another unusual detail was that you had to pay for the food when you ordered it. This left no opportunity to tailor the tip to the service or quality of the food, which we found very unusual. The Israeli beer we tried wasn't recommended either - a Kölsch would have been a better choice. We were looking forward to authentic Israeli street food but were disappointed. The food was expensive and the taste was not convincing. The cleanliness of the toilet also left something to be desired. There is no risk of a repeat for us

Eat: It wasn't bad but disappointing. The fries were good but uninspired. Plus meat that was well seasoned. 5 sauces a small bowl of salad and packaged warm bread. It was well prepared but the food wasn't a highlight and for €19 I would have expected more. The dish was simply 30-40% too expensive for what you got. Service: As a customer, you are not informed that you have to order your food at the cash register and that the waiters do not point this out to you. During the visit, several customers waited in vain until they went to the checkout and asked why no one came to the table or why this wasn't pointed out. The place actually invites you to linger if you don't always have to pay for everything straight away and go to the checkout every time. Ambiance: Actually a nice place if the music wasn't too loud.
