Nikolaus Grill in Essen

We paid €34 for two people! 1 taxi plate, 1 chicken schnitzel with fries, 1 extra tzatziki, and 2 drinks. For that money, we could have gone to a restaurant... I ordered a schnitzel with fries and the employee immediately asked if I wanted a sauce, so I chose Metaxa. The fact that this would cost an extra €2.50 wasn't mentioned, and I only found out when I asked when paying... For what seemed like a ready-made sauce (they were just refilling sauces from the typical Metro buckets). Everything costs extra and isn't mentioned. €17 per person for a snack bar with convenience food is outrageous. We enjoyed the taste, but for the price, I absolutely wouldn't recommend it.

The food was really good. The manager wasn't particularly friendly, but the other employee was nice. Visually, I think the place looks perfectly fine for a chip shop; it's clean and has an old-fashioned decor. I like that, though.

I went there today for gyros... absolutely not recommended! The meat wasn't hot, not even lukewarm. I complained about this, and they brought me a new portion, so it was absolutely rubbish! The manager was absolutely resistant to criticism, no apologies, nothing!!! Never again! Stay away from this snack bar!

If you want to experience authentic Greek cuisine, this is definitely the place for you. Great host!

Good food at really good value for money

The store is so unfriendly... I ordered a gyro platter with hollandaise sauce and extra cheese gratinated, and everything was offered to me separately at the full price and not at the standard price as would be normal.... I didn't even get a salad with it, which in my opinion should always have been included with a gyro plate, at least I always got it everywhere... So I would say people shouldn't buy it, it's way too expensive, it doesn't taste good at all and it's way too unfriendly I wish everyone else a happy new year

I find it a disgrace how disrespectful the employee there is, if you ask something politely you should be able to answer properly. I definitely do NOT recommend it at all.

Great gyros, one of the best in the country. I've eaten a lot of gyros, just think of Grillstation 2000 in Cologne, the place can easily keep up. Great served on a wooden board!

Absolutely stable grill. The grill plates are the best, already prepared, right size and just great taste.

A really good Greek for almost 40 years now. The food is delicious but the ambience has suffered a bit.

If you get the right food - ok. I wanted gyros with a few onions, a salad with normal green beans and cucumber cream and a currywurst with fries. I got a salad complete with cream and a shish kebab. Nobody eats here. It wasn't the first time that it was the wrong food. We'll stay away for now! 😡

A good Greek restaurant with Ruhrpott flair. The gyro was very tasty. I found serving it on a wooden board a bit difficult to get used to, as I've only ever known it traditionally on a plate. I didn't find the atmosphere in the restaurant that appealing, so we sat outside the door. Solid gyros and nice people. To recommend.

We had the taxi plate, the fries and the currywurst were good. Unfortunately the gyros didn't taste good. This is probably because the meat is taken half raw from the spit and then finished cooking on the grill. It wasn't the worst I've had so far, but it was definitely close. It was the first and last time we ate something here.

You can actually eat well there, but this was the third and last time I ate there because it happened to me for the second time in a row that I got something wrong!!!! Ordered a dish with fries and got rice, once ordered fries with sauce and ordered only fries without mayonnaise!!! Sorry, that doesn't work at all!!

A great Greek snack. Gyros and meat products are recommended. Customer requests are always taken into account. The boss is the best, very friendly 👍🏻 My tip: gyros gratinated with Metaxa sauce 😋 Update: The older boss was absent due to illness. Overall, the snack bar has become more impersonal. Prices have also increased. However, quality is good. Update 2: Due to the price development and the unfriendly boss, we no longer go there regularly.

I can only say everything here is very tasty and always freshly made, only the schnitzels are very small but otherwise top quality

Can't understand the reviews! The worst Greek food I've ever eaten!! The meat was incredibly dry and inedible. Gave it to the dog and even he didn't eat it. Same with the fries, inexplicable to me!! In addition, ALL of the orders were not complete and either something was missing somewhere or there were things that you didn't want. In addition, the packaging there is still on old-fashioned small plastic plates that do not change in size, regardless of whether you order a normal portion of fries or a double portion. By the way, it's also not visually noticeable in the crowd in the West!! Never again!!

Ich bestelle Jägerschnitzel mit Pommes OHNE SALAT. Ich musste den vollen Preis für komplettes Gericht Jägerschnitzel , Pommes und Salat bezahlen. Auf Nachfrage wurde mir gesagt, daß Sie mir , OHNE ZU FRAGEN, mehr Pommes gegeben hätten. GEHT GAR NICHT !!!

Wirklich leckeres Essen- aber: Salat ohne Bohnen bestellt und 3 Sorten Bohnen im Salat drin.

Die Pita im Nikolaus Grill ist wirklich prima! Das Gyros schmeckt sehr saftig, ist gut gewürzt und wirklich lecker. Das Brot ist richtiges Pitabrot, was in anderen griechischen Imbissbuden leider nicht selbstverständlich ist. Woanders kriegt man oftmals nur günstiges Fladenbrot, was überhaupt nicht geht bei einer originalen Gyros Pita. Das Zaziki schmeckt - wie man es von waschechten Griechen auch erwarten darf - richtig gut und der Salat ist frisch. Die Preise sind vollkommen in Ordnung und der Qualität angemessen. Die Betreiber sind überdies nett, gehen auf Wünsche ein (Gyros Pita sogar für Vegetarier auf Wunsch ohne Fleisch, dafür aber mit mehr Gemüse) und arbeiten schnell und sauber. Die Pommes könnten zwar etwas länger fritiert werden, damit sie noch knuspriger sind, aber das ist subjektiv und mag wohl jeder anders. Dennoch glatte 5 Sterne für diesen alteingesessenen Imbiss! Ich hoffe, ihr bleibt uns noch lange erhalten.

Fleisch trocken. Greco Teller und Ouzo Teller identisch- Greco Teller aber 3€ teurer. Beim Ouzo Teller hätte ich einen Ouzo erwartet- Fehlanzeige. Dachte es wäre zumindest etwas Tzatziki dabei- ebenfalls Fehlanzeige. Muss man extra bestellen

Der Bauernsalat ist in Ordnung. Etwas Olivenöl wäre gut. Das Gyros ist leider extrem trocken, ziemlich schwarz und fast nicht essbar. Die Freundlichkeit des Herrn hinter der Theke hat auch noch Luft nach oben.

Leckeres griechisches Essen, rustikale Einrichtung. Immer daran denken, es ist kein Restaurant sondern ein Imbiss. Das Wichtigste für mich: die Menschen sind sehr freundlich! Der Laden brummt, weil die Mischung stimmt.

Nach 30 Jahren mal wieder vor Ort. Was soll man sagen, hat sich nicht wirklich verändert. Gyros Top, überhaupt der Grillteller zu empfehlen. Lecker, schön angerichtet, reichlich zum unschlagbaren Preis. Alle freundlich, und auf Zack. Da kann sich so manches griechisches Restaurant ne Scheibe von abschneiden. Schön das man die Qualität nach 30 Jahren immer noch halten konnte.

Ambiente entspricht dem typischen griechischen Schnellimbiss an der Ecke. Der Service war insgesamt gut. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Würde speziell die Currysauce empfehlen!

Waren heute mit 6 Leuten vor Ort, auf Grund der Tischgroße empfehle ich eher eine maximale Anzahl von 4 Personen. Essen konnte man zeitnah nach der Bestellung an der Theke selbstständig entgegennehmen und zum Tisch tragen. Die Portionsgröße halte ich für angemessen, da alle satt wurden. Geschmacklich top, Ambiente Flop

Diesen Griechen würde ich keinem empfehlen.alles zusammen auf die Teller geklatscht richtig pampig.bifteki war hart und hat vergammelt geschmeckt.gyros nur fettstücke.einfach ekelhaft.danach nur auf die Toilette gerannt.lebensgefahr!!!!!!!!!!
