After many visits to this restaurant, I simply have to write a review. Attika in Essen-Werden is the place to go if you're craving inexpensive Greek food. Whether it's a gyro pita to go or a relaxed evening with friends in the restaurant itself. When the weather is pleasant, the spacious outdoor area makes it a good idea to eat outside. It should be noted that Bundesstraße 224 runs right next to this restaurant, and depending on the time of day, there can be a lot of traffic (including the occasional motorcyclist who turns the tap on a little louder). I never found this annoying, but sensitive people can also enjoy themselves indoors. The service has always been excellent. The waiters are consistently friendly, and you'll even be offered a nightcap at the end. The wait time depends on several different factors: If you're waiting alone for a pita to go, it will obviously go faster than if you're with five people ordering a variety of dishes. But that shouldn't need any further explanation. In general, the wait time is completely normal, and no one will go hungry for long. I personally recommend the gyro plate (with side dish!) for around 13-14 euros. You get a ton of gyro, plus coleslaw, fries, onions, tzatziki, and a separate salad, which I recently mixed with the other items. It tasted really good; the portion will satisfy even the hungriest of mouths! After the visit, a digestive walk along the Ruhr is a good idea. A short walk around Brehm Island or a longer one to the lock at Baldeneysee. This is also easily accessible, about a 1km walk away. In conclusion, if you're ever passing through Essen-Werden or passing through while hungry, you should pay Attika a visit. I'm sure you won't regret it!

One positive aspect is that the kitchen is open late – that's definitely a plus. The waiter, a Greek, initially made a lot of effort to explain the differences in preparation to us after I asked him about it – for example, how food is prepared differently in Athens than in a small village on an island. He suddenly switched to Greek. I answered in German, whereupon he continued to ask me in Greek if I didn't speak Greek. I explained to him in German that although I could speak Greek, I felt it was unfair to my partner because he didn't understand a word. The situation was a bit strange, but generally well-intentioned. I ended up ordering a chicken skewer with pita and fries. My partner actually wanted a steak, but the waiter recommended chicken schnitzel with asparagus and hollandaise sauce instead. After a reasonable wait, the food and drinks arrived. Unfortunately, I was a bit irritated because I got meat from a rotisserie instead of the chicken skewer I ordered, even though we had discussed it in detail beforehand. I ate it anyway. My partner's chicken schnitzel was unfortunately less than convincing: It was completely covered in sauce, so the breading was soggy, and the asparagus tasted strongly of vinegar – apparently pickled rather than fresh. Another negative thing we noticed: During the meal, no one came to the table to ask if everything was okay or if we wanted something to drink. Even when paying, no one asked about our impressions or whether we enjoyed our meal. It was probably obvious from the almost untouched plates that we weren't satisfied. Overall, the visit unfortunately fell short of our expectations: The idea of ​​traditional Greek cuisine is nice, but the execution, service, and communication weren't up to scratch this time. Conclusion: + Long kitchen times – Advice rather patronizing – Food of disappointing quality – Hardly any service inquiries during or after the meal A photo of the food would be truly unreasonable for readers. I didn't perceive it as a restaurant, more like a snack bar. As a Greek, I can say that a restaurant has different quality from the food to the service and different dishes on the menu.

You pay €9 for a gyro plate with just fries and meat, and €13.20 with a side dish. At that price, you'd expect salad, onions, and tzatziki to be included, but I was asked to pay an extra €2.20 for tzatziki and onions! I thought I was hearing things and left! A total rip-off, it's a good thing they didn't get my money!!!

Unfortunately, I ate the worst steak of my life, but I learned from it: steak = steakhouse. It's your own fault if you go to a Greek restaurant for rump steak. Still, I was very disappointed with the quality of the meat, as the quality was nowhere near worth the price. You could have easily gone to a second Blockhouse.

I tried Gyros Pita (gyros with white cabbage, onions, tzatziki, and bread) on a bike ride. They gave me two high-quality plastic forks to take home. It was packaged extremely well. The food was really tasty and the portions were huge. For €8, it was fantastic. I'm a 107kg male and it was full. Go for it!

I ordered 2 x for company parties (pizza, pasta, salad). The pizzas were very well topped and very tasty. The lasagne was also very good. The salads were good too. Pizza rolls with aioli and herb butter and cola came as an encore. The orders were delivered on time every time.

We ordered online for 40 euros. Gyro plate with fries, salad, calamari rings. After waiting an hour, we called for our order for the first time and found out that we still had to wait another half hour. 45 minutes later the food still wasn't there. On the second call we were told our food would be prepared next. Another half hour later the food still wasn't there. Next call followed. By now the food should have been on its way. After that we had to wait another 20 minutes. We therefore do not recommend delivery dates. The meat was very salty, tough and gristly. Fries and calamari soft and lukewarm. The quality of the food was also very disappointing for us. Overall, unfortunately not a recommendation. P.S. I would like to correct Attika's answer. It is not, as Attica claims, a distance of 29 km, but 9.6 or 11 km, depending on which route you take. Access is not blocked from the main road. Only if you try to take a shortcut and drive across the fields is there currently a route closure due to toad migration. But this is not the regular access to us. It's sad that Attika tries to justify the disastrously poor service by making wildly false claims. For me, that's one more reason not to order there.

Waited 1.5 hours and then got lukewarm food. No recommendation!

Just ordered there for €40. The meat was very tough and gristly. I also bit on something hard on one piece, which upon closer inspection turned out to be a bone-like piece. I then took a closer look at the meat and came across another, larger, bone-like piece of meat. The piece is very difficult to separate from the meat with a knife and cannot be cut up or moved with it. I then threw the food away.

We order and pick up. Always top quality and very tasty. Even the pizza tastes good.

After 2 hours of waiting (we had already called in the meantime) our food arrived. The fries were totally soft and not salted, and only luke warm. The pizza and gyros were also only lukewarm. No bread was delivered with the salad either. We've eaten there many times before, but this time it was really really bad. A little tip: Always deliver the fries in a Styrofoam packaging and do not cover them with paper, then they will stay warm and crispy.

I ate there on May 30, 2024 because I was at a campsite nearby and ended up here through a Google search for a Greek restaurant in the area. There are plenty of seats outside and inside where you can sit nicely. The menu is very extensive, I then decided on the grill plate with fries and salad and ordered a skewer instead of the cutlet, first of all tzatziki. Tzatziki with the toasted bread beforehand was really tasty, the grill plate was also tasty and extensive, the salad didn't convince me because almost everything was from a jar, so I would have liked something fresh. Very friendly and attentive service, even if in the heat of the moment the salad only came after you asked because the food was already there. All in all, you can say that a visit is always worthwhile, the rooms are nice but a bit noisy, the food is good, the portions are good and there is a large selection. What you could see that went to the neighboring tables also looked good, so gladly again and thanks to the nice team

I can't rate the service and ambience in advance because I've only ever ordered so far. Basically, unreservedly recommended to anyone who wants a short culinary tip to Greece. Portion sizes are stable, but quality varies widely, probably depending on who is at the grill. Unfortunately, tzatziki costs extra and with the slight hint of garlic, not even Rüdiger the little vampire would scare away. A definite plus is the fact that people with celiac disease can order here without hesitation, as the fries are prepared in their own deep fryer and are gluten-free. The bottom line is that I'm willing to give the fifth star if the delivery is consistently at a high level (which the store is capable of).

So the gyros pita in the bun 🥙 wasn't particularly tasty! Old roll and only crumbly gyros in it! It would be good if there were larger pieces of meat in there for the price! It used to be very good

Always great, you'll be happy to come back and get something to eat there again, even if you live a little further away. It's reliable if you order by phone and pick it up. There may be a delay of a few minutes, but then it's usually busy. As a rule, it is always reliable and fast. One point I would like to give as feedback is the packaging of the fries, perhaps this can be changed. In my case, if you need 20 minutes, the fries in the package will sweat because they are freshly made, that's no problem. Only if you use an alternative packaging that doesn't sweat, the quality would be even better. I love the fries and the food from you, that's just a positive criticism. I think the bonus system is good but it would be better if it were for €10 instead of €15. But that's whining at a high level. You can really do anything, whether pizza pita or bifteki, which is highly recommended in the gratinated version. You can tell that the kitchen has it all. I would give more stars but unfortunately that's not possible. Best snack and price performance is completely okay

Nice service and super tasty dishes. My son had a grilled attic plate, I had a regular grilled plate. We also had tzatziki. We had gyros, souvlaki, cutlets and cevapcici and a small salad. Everything was as it should be. And so rich that we had to have the rest packed up. Conclusion: Highly recommended. We will be back!

I ordered 2 things and had to pay 1.70 more than what was shown online when ordering. The pizza was 1 euro more expensive and only had half the cheese on it. I was always very satisfied but now it's too expensive for me. A pity.

Essen war lecker und Restaurant sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und liebevoll geschmückt. Der Service war 1A, sehr freundlich.

Wir hatten jeweils einen Grillteller, bis auf die Pommes und das Gyros war das Essen wirklich schlecht. Ich habe noch nie Cevapcici gesehen die weiß war, vermutlich reines Schweinfleisch. Der Rest vom Fleisch ging nahezu unangetasstet zurück. Die Bedienung war allerdings sehr freundlich.

Frisches und leckeres Essen. Echt zu Empfehlen. Nicht das letzte mal dort gewesen. 👍

4,5 Sterne für das Attika-Grill Restaurant Essen Werden. Wir haben dort am frühen Abend zu Dritt dort gegessen. Zunächst ist das Lokal recht gut besucht, was ja ein gutes Zeichen ist. Das Personal haben wir freundlich, flink und stets höflich erlebt. Das Essen ist sicher keine Offenbarung, aber gute solide Küche, im Vergleich ehr im Mittelfeld. Zwar sind die Portionen groß, aber wir empfanden die Zubereitung und Qualität des Fleisches als verbesserungsfähig. Dafür waren die Soßen, die Pommes und das Zaziki wirklich sehr gut. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis haben wir als gut empfunden.

Essen ist ok für ein Imbiss. Aber die Qualität ist fragwürdig und lässt schon zu wünschen übrig. Es ist stark erkennbar, dass hier aus der Dose und dem Beutel gezaubert wird. Dafür ist der Preis etwas zu hoch. Kann man in der Not mal machen, aber eigentlich nichts wo man nochmal hin müsste, weil man von den Socken gehauen wurde. Etwas schade für die eigentlich so geniale griechische Küche und für Werden.

Wir waren mit 5 Leuten da. Es war sehr schön und lecker 😊. Es gab schweine Steak mit Zwiebeln und Reis, dazu spargel in heller sosse. Zazicki Salat mit gerösteten Brot. Zazicki Teller mit Pommes. Und zum Schluß ein Grill Teller 👍. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam 😁👍. Immer wieder gerne 😊☺️

Ich war öfters mit zwei Arbeitskollegen dorthin essen weil wir in Werden auf Montage waren. Also ehrlich gesagt ein tadelloses Preis- Leistungs- Verhältnis und eine große Auswahl auf der Speisekarte. Wer hier was zu meckern hat ist fehl am Platz.

Essen leider fade. Schlechte Luft im Restaurantbereich, sanitäre Räume nicht besonders sauber. Personal höflich. Leider nichts für uns!

Gyros ist lecker. Bedienung teilweise verpeilt. Innen schlechte Luft aus der Küche. Pommes könnten besser sein. Preise OK aber beim Gyrosteller muß Zaziki und Zwiebeln extra bestellt werden und wird extra berechnet. Daher auch nicht günstig. Kann man aber durchaus hingehen.

Umfangreiche Speisen, mehr als nur eine von vielen griechischen Pommesbuden. Selbst Lamm findet man auf der Speisekarte!

Für die Portionen finde ich es preislich sehr fair. Die Mitarbeiter sind immer freundlich, was uns sehr wichtig ist. Große Kartr mit viel Auswahl, hier findet jeder etwas👍 Lieferdienst bieten sie auch an.

Für mich ist es eines der Restaurants, die ich oft besuche, und damit meine ich, dass das Essen ausgezeichnet und abwechslungsreich ist und die Preise nicht teuer sind. Ich kann es nur empfehlen.
