Five of us were here yesterday. We got a table quickly. Since this was too quick for us, we asked for another one, which was then made possible. Despite the busyness, the staff was friendly and very attentive. The food was very fairly priced. In addition, the portions were more than sufficient. We “unfortunately” had to leave a colleague there because he hadn’t managed to eat the knuckle he ordered. The boss reacted very humorously and was finally able to come to an agreement with his colleague without any further physical violence or dishwashing services. All in all a great visit. Very friendly staff and a cheerful boss. We'd love to come back when we get the chance!

I chose the steam for dinner with my daughter because she had fond memories of it from last year. Although all the tables were empty and we looked for a seat, we were accosted by the visibly overwhelmed waiter. The food wasn't the real thing, it was completely overcooked. So one visit is enough for a lifetime. Not recommended.

Rustic restaurant with many rooms and outdoor area. Selection of dishes is very extensive, prices are okay. Rustic and cozy, background noise is high (due to architectural reasons). Back rooms are a little quieter. Food very good, waiting times absolutely acceptable. Interesting beers like the Salonbier. Sufficient parking spaces on site.

Very friendly and attentive service. The food is plentiful, with a heavily meat-based menu. A large selection of delicious beers and schnapps is available. The Dampfe is always worth a visit! It can get a bit noisy, though, as it's a brewery.

Rustic and hearty. As you'd expect from a brewery. Very good. Truly delicious beer and hearty food to match. The ham hock gave us a huge doggy bag to take home, which made for a full lunch the next day. The vegetarian selection could be a bit more varied.

We were here for the first time. The lady on the phone to reserve a table was very friendly and helpful. The shop is quite large but comfortably furnished in the style of a brewery. The menu is very large and leaves nothing to be desired. Prices are ok. Drinks and food were taken at short notice. The first beer was the parlor beer, which wasn't my taste, I found it very weak, the Zwickel was better. Things got interesting when after an hour the food still wasn't there. A query to the waiter was answered with “just being served”. When nothing came 20 minutes later, we asked again and the waiter's answer was very angry and unpleasant. You can't perform in front of guests like that. I had the traditional home pan. Nice served in a roasting pan and lots of meat. Unfortunately, the knuckle was quite firm, almost tough and I found the bratwurst to have a rather bland taste. The rolled roast was okay and the fried potatoes with the sauerkraut were good and tasty. All in all ok, but I don't necessarily have to go there again.

You can eat and drink well in the rustic steam beer brewery in Essen Borbeck. The restaurant is rustically furnished. The portions are good and reasonably priced. On warm days you can also sit outside in the beer garden. There is also the possibility of a tour, check the half board. There are also halls where larger events take place. There are enough parking spaces, the train station is within walking distance. Bicycle routes run past it.

The steam itself is great, but people are randomly pulled out of events and the police are called for reasons that I still don't understand! Well, it's a real shame because the food and beer are really good!

We had very tasty food and super nice service. We were there in the evening during the week and quickly had our first beer and food on the table. What a shop. This is how I imagine a brewery. Quaint and cozy. Decorated with a lot of love and contemporary witnesses of days gone by. Lots of seating. There is also an outdoor area and event hall. The Räuber, Brings and Bläck Föös will play concerts there in 2025. The food is a mix of home-style and modern, including vegan dishes. The more I read through the menu, the better it got. I chose the Cordon Bleu with Brauhaus fries and grilled vegetables. Fresh meat, homemade, great sauce. It was really tasty.

The food used to be better there. Of the 5 meals, the fries were cold, the grilled vegetables were cold and the sauces from the schnitzel didn't taste good at all (Tetra Pack). We got new fries that were warmed up and hard. Oh yes, the burger wasn't great either. We won't repeat again for dinner.

We were in the Dampfe on New Year's Eve. You had to bring your own drinks and food. But everything happened pretty quickly. Staff very friendly. Music selection from the disc jockey was very good, something for everyone. We had a lovely evening

We were there for Christmas brunch. Quaint location, great service and delicious food. Buffet was solid and had everything you would expect. Criticism: The buffet room was far too small for the crowd and the egg came out of the bag. But overall everything was fine.

Very nice restaurant with delicious house beers. The food tasted good and the price-performance ratio was excellent. We spent our Christmas party here with a few people, but I'll definitely come back again privately! I can only recommend it if you are ever in Essen!

When my partner and I came to the inn on December 22nd, 2024, almost all tables were supposedly reserved. Two hours later after we ate and paid, there was still no reserved table occupied. My partner's goose breast was full of bristles. She could order a new meal. The cordon bleu that came next was fried in the deep fryer. I remembered my bratwurst better from previous visits. Plus there wasn't enough rushing. Furthermore, the toilet smells far beyond the toilet rooms. A visit is really not recommended.

Current menu unsuitable for vegetarians! Almost no choice. The only main course option is a very poorly topped burger. The day before yesterday it was also over salted and burned. An attempted complaint in the kitchen was rejected. “It has to be like that.” The service person tried very hard to calm our minds and also shared the opinion that the burger was burnt. Both were super tasty, but that's what we're used to from the Dampfe 😉 Of course we'll be back‼️‼️‼️😁

Our waiter Musti loves his job. He served us well and always had a quick joke on his lips. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was good. The portions are also good and the side salad is definitely worth mentioning, as it is not a run-of-the-mill salad. A few unusual ingredients just stay in your head.
