Niiko - Sushi x Vegan in Leipzig

Since I am Japanese, this place and the food is moderate. It is not the best quality because of the workers, who are just not Japanese. But the atmosphere is very nice and the place is filled with Japanese traditional things.

Unfortunately, the service is unpleasant. You feel like you're being asked to eat quickly and leave quickly. The waiter has never even approached you to ask if you want to pay. This seems unprofessional when the restaurant isn't full.

The Pad Thai with duck, sesame balls, and ginger pot was all very good. I highly recommend it. 😄

I have to honestly say, ramen is simply tasteless; it has nothing to do with ramen. What really bothers me is that there are such good reviews, even though the food is tasteless and the prices are quite high. Please be careful.

The food tasted very good, but the service could have been improved. We waited over 40 minutes for our order, and the dishes were unfortunately served at different times. As a result, my food got cold while I waited for my companion. With better organization, the experience would have been truly outstanding.

The service was very odd, and the ice cream was definitely straight from the cheapest vanilla ice cream tub, so that's a deduction. But the food wasn't bad!

A really good meal. If you like Asian cuisine, you're in good hands here. The menu isn't overflowing with hundreds of different dishes. It's clear, easy to understand, and plentiful. We each had a starter, a main course, and a dessert. We were very full. It was incredibly delicious and very well-seasoned. The service was super friendly, young, and energetic. That fits the restaurant. The value for money is unbeatable. It can stay as it is, because you should be well paid for good food. The only drawback is that the restaurant is quite dark.

We chose this place based on the reviews, but honestly, I don’t understand how it has more than 3 stars. We ordered ramen, but it wasn’t ramen at all – even the noodles weren’t the right kind. The broth was weak, the meat was bland. Definitely do not recommend.

We stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch after arriving at the hotel across the street. Everyone was very friendly, the food came quickly, and it tasted delicious! We would definitely come back.

I check the menu , then I request to be seated inside, waiter give me the menu on the table after that waited for 15 minutes , no one came to the table after that I called them , I ordered Veg fried noodles with tofu, I would say taste is okay okay, there noddles was dry , when I asked for bill they charge me extra shrip which I didn't ordered then waiter told you pay total bill amount, I will give you cash back for the shrip which I didn't ordered, I ask him can you please delete from the bill 1st, he told me I can not delete then I pay full amount of the bill and he returned me cash for shrip which I didn't ordered

I chose the chicken kare don—the flavor was okay, but the curry sauce was more slush than sauce. It was so unappetizing that I left more than half of it.

Unfortunately, what is served as Ramen on the menu turned out to be noodle soup. The noodles are overcooked and sticky, the broth is not thick, watery, there is only a quarter of an egg, and that is overcooked. The meat (just baked a week ago) is a tiny amount, cut so thinly that it almost dissolved in the broth, the corn is sweet from a can, the cheapest one. Only the bak choi was even less good. Well, the presentation is visible in the photo, everything just drowned in this supposedly white broth, as well as my hopes to enjoy the exchange. Kim Chi is not fermented at all, but simply scalded cabbage covered in kimchi sauce. In short: the photos from the establishment do not correspond to reality. If you want ramen, this is definitely not the place for you!

The food is quite alright and tasted well but this is *NOT* Niiko sushi anymore. The vegan options are, compared to before, very limited, and they don't offer sushi anymore. You can see it on the new menu on here but we weren't aware and very disappointed. The food tasted good but we couldn't help but be disappointed.

Disappointment! The bibimbab wasn't authentic at all and was very bland! The waitress was so bad-tempered that she even put me in a bad mood 🫩?! The appetizers, however, were really delicious! By the way, the seating outside is just uncomfortable.

The food was brought cold... Although only 3-4 tables were occupied. Very poor food. We do not recommend!

The dim sum and noodles were overcooked. When we pointed this out, they just shrugged their shoulders. The service staff seemed somewhat inefficient and uninterested. The restroom doors were falling apart, and the basket of seasoning sauces that was placed on our table was completely dirty. It all didn't make a good impression. The food tasted good. -> There are certainly many better Asian restaurants in Leipzig.

The dishes are delicious, especially the fried chicken with sweet and chili sauce. It's crispy but not dry.

Beware of the posted rating (4.8 at the time of our visit), which absolutely does not reflect reality. The N.I.I.K.O. Asia Street Food restaurant is a real disappointment. Extremely basic cuisine, flavorless, visibly industrial. No refinement, no perceptible freshness. It looks more like a tourist trap than a real quality Asian street food address.

Another Vietnamese fusion place that has nothing to do with authentic Korean food. The meals were average in taste, and the service felt clumsy and disorganized. Unfortunately, Leipzig still has little to offer in terms of truly diverse or authentic gastronomical experiences.

The food was great! We had two main courses: glass noodles with chicken and Korean chicken. Very tasty. The homemade lemonade was also delicious. The server was efficient, but a little short-tempered. The ambiance was okay for an Asian restaurant, but overall a bit kitschy, but very clean!

I went to this great restaurant with my son. The service was very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken wings with honey and garlic marinade were amazing. I've never had such a delicious, super crispy coating. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Leipzig. 👍🏻

I ordered number 27, Pad Thai with beef. The beef noodle dish tasted even worse than its appearance and, above all, its pungent smell suggested. It reminded me of the smell of a "hot butcher's kitchen," but not exactly the best. Not only the meat, but also the sauce, noodles, and the few vegetables left a poor overall impression. The taste and smell of all the ingredients were the same, although at least the tamarind sauce should have been noticeable. The best part of the meal was the Freiberger beer. Nothing else. The staff didn't care about our comment about why we returned the full plate. Nor did they care about our comment that a 45-minute wait for a snack was too long. Therefore, only one star for the Freiberger beer. The current rating of 4.8 is due to incomprehension and, unfortunately, 0 stars.

A real insider tip in the city! I recently visited Niiko Asia Streetfood and I'm still totally impressed. As soon as you walk in, you feel at home because the atmosphere is so relaxed and easygoing. The team is really super friendly and clearly enjoys what they do – all young people with a lot of enthusiasm. But now for the most important thing: the food! The dishes are not only delicious, but also really fresh. You can simply taste the passion that goes into their cooking. Although the prices are more than fair, they don't skimp on quality at all. Excellent value for money! Another thing I absolutely have to mention: The service is top-notch! We had a small question, and they helped us immediately and without any fuss. That shows that the customer really is king here. In short: If you're in the mood for really good Asian food in a great, relaxed environment, you should definitely go to Niiko. I give it a clear recommendation. P.S. We had made a reservation in advance, and I don't think it was noticed that way. But we didn't get a chance to mention it. If you were still waiting for a reservation with two people, we were there and ended up sitting by the window where we were shown. Sorry :D

I highly recommend it. I wasn't there before the reopening, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, we definitely liked what they have now. Atmosphere 10/10, food 10/10. We were there on a Saturday evening, so almost every table was occupied. The staff is friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Horrible experience! Bad quality of food. Noodles full of gluten. Worse service. Waited 45ish minutes to get the main course. Fake soft drinks!! Water same price!!

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner early Friday evening and were surprised by the excellent quality of the food. The two ramen dishes were incredibly delicious and served traditionally 😍 For starters, we had the gyzoas, which were also very good. The atmosphere inside is quiet and cozy, appropriate for the price. You can sit outside on the terrace in the lively side street. Inside, pleasant music played, and sometimes one of the servers even quietly sang along 🙂 The value for money was very good, and we will definitely come back to try the lunch menu (3 courses for just under €10). We lost a small point because the unfortunately somewhat run-down restrooms were empty of soap.

I'm lost for words... Tucked away in a cute little pedestrian street. Niiko is the place to be for good Asian food (vegan/vegetarian). I cried over the veggie spring rolls the way Future cried over the Sevran chicken.

My friend was almost spared the meal because her order was forgotten. Otherwise, I didn't feel like I was understood when ordering. Pointing at the menu was the waiter's saving grace. The food itself was on the verge of "okay" and very uninspired.

Perhaps it's not justified, since we only had the lunch menu, but it was absolutely basic. The meager starter we had with it wasn't anything special either. So I don't understand the high rating, but perhaps the Leipzig standards aren't that high either.

The chicken ramen is extremely delicious, the tastiest ramen I've ever eaten. The lemongrass tea wasn't as tasty. Sushi with beef was a different version. The Masha Panna Cotta with slush was unfortunately sold out.

I didn't have a good experience, I wouldn't go back.

Four of us came, and we all received our food quickly and, most importantly, at the same time. I had the homemade peach iced tea and the bulgogi. The iced tea was pleasantly fruity and not overly sweet like regular iced teas. The bulgogi was also delicious. The beef had a very pleasant flavor and was beautifully tender. The restrooms were clean, and the entire ambiance in the restaurant was beautifully designed! The staff was very friendly and cheerful. We had an authentic experience and were all very satisfied!

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The service left a bad impression – there were two servers on duty, only one of whom was friendly. The food was also disappointing. We ordered chashu ramen – the taste had absolutely nothing to do with real ramen. Some of the vegetables were not fresh. I expected more from Chicken Kare Don, and it still lacked seasoning. I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially not for those who appreciate good food and good service.

It was my first time there and I'll definitely be back. The food is delicious (if you like it spicy 😉), the service is very friendly and attentive, and the ambiance completes the overall excellent impression. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

It was a very bad restaurant. We stole the mango matcha panakota, which tasted like sparkling water, mango grass, and fish, and another noodle dish, and no matter what we stole, it tasted like egg.

The "current" Niiko has nothing in common with the "old" Niiko, which was exclusively vegan and served incredibly delicious sushi. We were visiting Leipzig and were really looking forward to it after two years. The sign from the "old" Niiko was actually still hanging there, and we went in, but realized we were completely wrong. When we went into the "new" Niiko (about 100 meters away), we were told that they no longer serve sushi at all, and the menu only featured a few vegan options. It would be helpful to take down the old sign and clearly communicate that there is a new shop with a new menu that has nothing to do with the old one.

I don't understand the good reviews either. The food was okay, but definitely nothing more. We had Pad Thai and Bibimbap (tofu & beef), and we've had much better everything at other locations.

Very friendly staff. Despite being busy, the food was ready fairly quickly. The pasta portion could have been a bit larger. Otherwise, it was very tasty and definitely recommended. :)

The food is delicious, but unfortunately, it takes a very long time to arrive. The lunch menu, in particular, takes far too long during a "normal lunch break"!

In short: disappointing. The food was weak – I just didn't like the duck pad thai. I didn't finish the dish. The duck was dry and had many inedible parts. The noodles were also dry and tasteless, and there were only a few vegetables – really nothing special. Regarding the lemonade: I specifically asked if it was made with syrup or fresh ingredients. The server said it was fresh. But the taste was definitely syrupy. To cover it up, they added a few fresh ingredients, but I know the taste of fresh ginger and lime – and that was definitely not it.

Tasty food, fresh ingredients, interesting menu. We ate beef at Niiko, very well prepared. The taste and portion size were adequate to the price. Unfortunately, the service was poor, we waited a very long time for food. We did not feel like welcome guests there - maybe because we do not speak German.

Unfortunately, this is not “Bulgogi”, it’s like the “Wok” fried beef and vegetables with rice. 14.9€ is super expensive for this dish. Will never come back again.
