Incredibly good atmosphere when eating in the restaurant. All rice noodle dishes are recommended. The takeaway boxes are also unbeatable in terms of value for money, considering the quality of the food. The best Vietnamese restaurant in Essen, without a doubt.

Very tasty food, good service and nice atmosphere. Upstairs it looks like a snack bar, but downstairs it's nicely decorated. There are a lot of options for vegan dishes.

Awful experience. Staff didn’t welcome at all, took tens of minutes to get our food ordered, serving food took more than 30 min. Payment process was the worst. Card machine did not work, one of staff asked me to get the cash but she didn’t know where the cash machine was. Card payment machine didn’t work. But somehow, we told her we can’t withdraw cash at the moment and she made it work somehow but she charged 1.4 euro extra for card payment without noticing us. Payment process took a lot of time and there were staff in kitchen who could have helped but we were stood for minutes without help. A member of staff wore AirPods and did not help at all too. Staff didn’t even know the table number so asked us which table we sat at. The restaurant was not like Nando’s or McDonald’s where there was a table number attached on the table. Who on earth asks for the table number of their restaurants to customers? Food wasn’t good. Fried fish with many bones as well. It was more expensive side compared to other great Asian restaurants in Essen

Delivered what you wanted. Good food, good price, great, quick service.

It's a good place. The starters like Nem or Summerrolls are top and the warm dishes are also very tasty, although not the best in the area in terms of taste. We really enjoy going there!

I've been here many times and have always been very satisfied. But today I am very disappointed. I ordered a papaya salad with shrimp to take away. Price €10.90 Very small, 6 shrimps and no papaya 😐🤔

The decoration has still price tags attached. The food was really not to my liking although I had 3 courses - nothing tasted yummy.

Wow. It can hardly be more authentic in Germany. Had a Bánh Mi with pork belly, which was absolutely delicious and big enough for a midday snack. Strongly recommended. Bread was toasted, which I hadn't heard of before, but it was also delicious. Then crispy duck with rice noodles. And for under €15, the dish was outstanding. Almost every piece of duck is deliciously crispy and every piece is tasty, rice noodle bowl full of different flavors. Hot sauce is finally really hot again haha. So expectations were greatly exceeded for the prices on a taste level :) Service is good anyway and the ambience is enough for a relaxed date if you want

The food is really good. My pho soup was very good, but the fried noodles were too oily. There are a variety of delicious homemade lemonades. The food was delivered very quickly and the service was always quick. The shop is nicely decorated, although the main dining room is unfortunately in the basement. There is a small pond with fish and otherwise very nice facilities.

I ate at Ngon Vietfood on Saturday around 4:45 p.m. and had 4 dumplings with chicken and vegetables, a pho with beef and a small cola. The dumplings were served on a cooking tray with iceberg lettuce and sweet chili sauce. + Plus point for the preparation and the salad. The bean sprouts, coriander and lime were served on a separate plate with the pho + Plus point because this means the sprouts stay crunchy and everyone can portion the amount themselves. Cola had carbon dioxide, which is not a given :) All in all, I can recommend the restaurant

We received a BonBon voucher as a gift 3 months ago. This is valid until the end of 2027. We made a special trip to the restaurant and couldn't redeem the voucher on the grounds that the owner would soon change and they haven't accepted vouchers since the end of May? The store is completely lost. Very much a waste of time for us. Now we have to hand over the vouchers 😑 Simply bad service! It was only a small sum! 30€! The restaurant used to be better

Personally, I think it's very tasty and I have to say it's a matter of taste but I'll always eat here again.

We've been here a few times now and have never been disappointed. The food is really delicious, fresh & authentic. There is an incredible amount of vegan food and the homemade drinks (e.g. iced tea) are also delicious. We'd love to come back :)

Wir waren schön öfters in dem netten vietnamesischen Restaurant in der Stadt Essen am Abend essen. Es liegt etwas versteckt in der Nebenstraße am Kornmarkt. Weiterhin empfiehlt es sich unten im Keller zu essen. Dort es ist nett ausgeschmückt mit vietnamesischen und asiatischen Elemente. Leider ist die Akkustik, wenn dieser Bereich des Restaurants voll ist, nicht so gut, insbesondere wenn an jedem Tisch Gespräche stattfinden oder größere asiatische Gruppe dort etwas feiern. Früher hat uns das vietnamesische Essen etwas besser geschmeckt als im Moment. In der Regel kommt die Bedienung sehr schnell, nach dem die Karte ausgehändigt wurde. Das vietnamesische Essen wird frisch zubereitet und kommt je nach Auslastung des Restaurants relativ schnell zum Tisch. Wenn man zu viel auf einmal bestellt, passiert es öfters, das nur die ersten Sachen an den Tisch kommen und man die letzteren nochmals nachbestellen muß. Insgesamt macht es aber einen guten Eindruck.

Authentic Vietnamese food. Relaxed atmosphere, which you don't expect at first glance. The actual restaurant is located underground, which is why the shop looks inconspicuous from the outside. Prices could be a little lower for the portions you get and the vegetables could have been cut more bite-sized.

We've been there several times. The food is very tasty, the service is very nice. The prices are reasonable. Only the benches you sit on are a bit tight. Addendum April '24: The vast majority of benches have been replaced with comfortable chairs. Fine! 🙂 Tip: delicious Vietnamese coffee!

All Asian snack shops offer the combination of rice/noodles plus tofu and vegetables. Mostly in the price range 6 to 8 €. The charge here is €13. The tofu was small and dry, the vegetables could be counted (a few carrot snippets, 2 leaves of pak choi, about 5 onions, which I had actually ordered.) I didn't get any sauce because the staff doesn't understand any German or the word sauce knows. The taste was average, the entire meal was disappointing.

It wasn't the last time we ate there... We sat in the basement where there are no windows. But there's probably no other way to do it inside the house. Therefore the ambience is not great. But food was very good.

A very nice hidden restaurant in downtown Essen under the snack bar. Lovingly designed, very nice staff and above all extremely tasty. A top tip for anyone who wants to eat delicious food in the city center.

Very tasty food, cooked by the boss himself using original recipes. The rooms are tastefully and lovingly furnished. Highly recommended 👌 The crispy pork belly is particularly delicious, lovingly prepared by the chef himself and used in the Vietnamese noodle salad. Hammer!

We went here for lunch shortly after the store opened. The waiters were quite friendly. The food was very tasty. We had a green tea with mint which was also very tasty. The restaurant is a visual highlight. It is very clean and very nicely decorated. Definitely worth a visit.

The atmosphere inside is great. That’s about it with the positive feedback. Came in with a group of three vegans. Confirmed with the waiter if the food is vegan. He agreed. Confirmed no milk. He agreed. Hot tea (which was ordered NO honey) with honey inside. Found half way through my food egg in my noodles. Wasn’t mention in the description and when I ask the waiter if that’s egg he responded with „yes“. I said „that’s not vegan“. And he went“ it’s always inside“. It’s ridiculous. Don’t go there if you have any restrictions which can be harming you, because you could possibly die.

Kein edel Vietnamese, aber extrem lecker und authentisch. Im Erdgeschoß ist eine Theke zum Mitnehmen, im Untergeschoss dann der größere Gastraum. Das Essen wurde schnell serviert. Die Pho Ga war sehr lecker, ebenso mein Mango Salat. Tip ist die Litschi-Limonen Limo, mit einigen Litschis drin, da hat man gleich noch ein Dessert. Jederzeit wieder.

Food is okay, but every drink is sweetened.

Das Essen ist wirklich hervorragend. Das Fleisch ist saftig und zart, das Gemüse frisch und knackig, die Würze sehr angenehm und mir den Soßen auf dem Tisch an den persönlichen Geschmack anpassbar. Der Service ist aufmerksam aber nicht aufdringlich. Die Preise sind für die Qualität sehr angemessen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Nice Restaurant, nice location (insite and ousite). Food quality is good, price level acceptable. Service friendly. We have been 3 times in 2023 at Ngon Vietfood and it was always a nice experience.

Eten was goed, suas voor Nem Nuong had meer vissaus gemogen. Vietnamese koffie was precies goed!!

Die schlechtesten asia nudeln die ich je gegessen habe die Nudeln haben abgelaufen geschmeckt und komisch die Ente war auch älter. Ich habe später Bauchschmerzen und Sodbrennen bekommen und das für einen Preis von 16 Euro. Die Läden um die Ecke und alle anderen Asiaten wollen für das gleiche 10 Euro und es schmeckt 1000x besser

Sehr leckeres Essen, der Service war auch sehr gut und auch sehr schnell. Das Ambiente war okay, könnte aber trotzdem ruhig noch einwenig freundlicher und heller gestaltet werden, da es unten ist und ohne Tageslicht ist. 😉

Eine sehr interessante Location, die meisten Sitzplätze sind im Untergeschoss. Personal war sehr freundlich, aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen selbst war zumindest für mich nicht so, wie ich es sonst gewohnt war, da habe ich schon deutlich besser gegessen. Nur über Chilis punktuell scharf, aber sonst kein Geschmack war mir persönlich etwas wenig.

Ich habe Rind bestellt und Garnelen erhalten. Statt sich zu entschuldigen hat die Serviererin insistiert, dass ich es falsch bestellt hatte (ich esse aber nie Garnelen). Fehler passieren, aber dann den Gast beschuldigen geht nicht.

Das war richtig gut. Ich würde wieder hin gehen.

Everything was fine, i still have the feeling something was off, can't put my finger on it, though. Not getting a knife might have to do with it, but we made due with fork and spoon. We would have gotten knives if we asked, but did not feel like it. Food was great (duck with peanut sauce, udon noodles and veggies), drink was good (Ginger Ale), service was very friendly and helpful... still that nagging feeling that it could have been better. 😅

Sehr gutes Essen, ich war um die Mittagszeit hier und hatte das Mittagsgericht mit Ente und Nudeln. Preis total fair und geschmacklich sehr gut. 100% Weiterempfehlung. Auch wenn der Schein zu nächst trübt ist die untere Etage wirklich schön

Fairly cheap, decent takeaway food. The duck was great, but I wish the noodles had been a bit more seasoned.

Todo lo que pedimos estaba bueno. Un sitio muy agradable y con un buen servicio. Recomiendo el té de la casa. Yo pedí unos Nuddles de arroz fritos con pollo y estaba espectacular. Repetiremos.

Maden var okay, vi havde en bedre oplevelse sidste år og syntes maden var bedre. Denne gang bestilte jeg en frisk presset appelsin juice 4 dl under deres egne hjemmelavede juicer, fik en flaske med koncentreret appelsin saft Granini på 0,2 dl, bestemt ikke hvad jeg forventede, jeg sagde det men intet blev gjort og den blev ikke drukket men vi skulle da betale for den.. En anden bestilte en passionsfrugt juice og den var fin. Det er sidste gang vi spiser der.

Tengo alergia de lacteos y cerdo. Le dije a la mesera y les dio igual. 45 minutos despues de comer me picaba mucho la cara y la garganta. Un dia despues tengo rash en el cuello. Nó volveré ahi porque han de usar el mismo sarten para freir sin tomar en cuenta que habenos personas con problemas graves.

Das Essen war lecker und zügig zubereitet worden. Die Mitarbeiter haben sich um ihre Kunden gut gekümmert. Empfehlenswert.

Auch mit einer großen Gruppe kann man hier super essen gehen. Ganz toller Service und leckeres Essen.

Decent food, but the stir fry was quite dry with tough meat. Original drinks menu and the portions are pretty good. The restaurant is located in a basement and the chairs don’t have back rests, so that might not be ideal for everyone. Good vegetarian and vegan options as well.

My friends ordered and I ordered 4 minutes after them, though oI had4 minutes delay, Waitress brought my order 25 minutes after she brought my friend's orders. I didn't accept the food, but my friends were really satisfied with the taste. Strange thing was that there was a costumer and all of the staff were gaving her services and they did not payed attention to us (Only 5 tables were occupied by costumers and the rest were empty, so it was not a busy hour) .One of the staff told me it's becuase today we have only one chef, another one told me because today was really busy, while the third one blamed another waitress and told me that she was new. To sum all these things up. taste and quality was perfect, but the service was terrible.

"Ngon" ist das vietnamesische Wort für "lecker". Dem ist nichts hinzuzufügen! Vier verschiedene Gerichte versucht, alles top! Meine vietnamesische Ehefrau bescheinigt Authentizität.- Und das Stille Örtchen ist blitzsauber.

Wir haben 1/2 Stunde auf das Essen gewartet obwohl das Restaurant nur 1/2 voll war. Ich möchte nicht wissen wie lange man bei vollem Restaurant warten muss. Zu guter letzt haben sie beim Kollegen vergessen was er bestellt hat. Das Restaurant werden wir meiden. Danke nie wieder

Das Lokal hat einige wenige Sitzplätze im Außenbereich, dafür mehr Sitzplätze im Untergeschoss. Im Untergeschoss war es sehr warm und stickig, obwohl die Außentemperatur eher kühl war. Die Einrichtung ist hübsch und bietet Platz auch für größere Gruppen. Die Speisekarte bietet eine große Auswahl an vegetarischen/veganen Speisen sowie Fleischgerichte. Die vegetarische Frühlingsrollen mit Pilzfüllung waren sehr lecker. Die vegetarische Phở war leider enttäuschend - nur paar Seitan und Tofustücke mit den Reisnudeln. Besser wäre noch Gemüse, mehr Kräuter und Pilze dazu. Ansonsten war der Service sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das nächste Mal wird weiter probiert.

The food was so nice, we came back two days later! The place is a but noisy and seating is not very comfortable, but the food and drink quality is great. Would really recommend the beef ghoulash pho(40D on the menu). Go easy on the garlic and chili oil tho, it's a bit potent, but really tasty 😂

Zaskakująco dobra restauracja, obsługa trochę załatana ale pewnie była to kwestia tego że jednocześnie odbywały się dwa imprezy. Mają też drinki i mocne alkohole.

This vietnamese restaurant has, somehow, dissapointed me. The score is high so I went waiting for a surprising experience. First of all, they don't have all the drinks in the menu, so you cannot see the posdibilities and the prices. I wanted to order Sushi but they do not sell sushi yet (at least it is what the waiter said). Then, the service is a little bit slow and have to "polish" some details. I ordered a coke and they brought me directly the glass of coke not cold enough (did they have a 2L bottle and they charged me as if they had served me the coke from a 20cl bottle?) The food is ok, but I was waiting that the sauce of the dish (red curry) was more creamy (not so liquid). I have to recognise that the duck was tasty and crispy. The table where I sat is in a cellar, so for me was a little claustrophobic. Sorry but, in this case, I can give only 4 stars.

Hatte heute eine Nudelbox mit Ente to go. Selten habe ich so eine geschmacksneutrale Nudelbox erhalten.. Ich wurde gefragt, welche Soße und habe extra scharf verlangt. Es hat nach nichts geschmeckt. Einzig die fritierte Entenbrust hatte ein wenig Eigengeschmack. Ansonsten frisch zubereitet, natürlich viel Nudeln, einige frische Sprossen, ganz wenig Möhre und Lauch ( wahrscheinlich als Farbtupfer) und ein wenig Chinakohl, damit man etwas zum draufbeiße hat. Sorry Leute, das war heute meine erste und auch letzte Box aus eurem Laden.
