Neo Kyma in Herne

We visited this fantastic restaurant for the first time today. It couldn't have been better. The food was absolutely top-notch. The service was exactly as expected. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening at your restaurant. Oh, and by the way... dogs are allowed.

Yesterday was our first time there, and we were initially surprised that gyros wasn't on the menu. We were in luck when we asked, as the owner told us that gyros is only available on weekends. We were really fortunate, because he had a large party, which is why they had gyros yesterday. The gyros was unlike anything you've ever had before. It was absolutely delicious. You definitely have to try it. It came with tzatziki, which was also very tasty, and Metaxa sauce. For a starter, we had a delicious coleslaw with bread, and the gyros was served with fries. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to explore the rest of the menu.

We ate at Neo Kyma for the first time (recommended by friends), but we will definitely return. Due to the adjacent gardens, many parking spaces were already taken, but you can usually always find a spot right next to the restaurant or on the side of the street. We first sat on the beer garden terrace, where we enjoyed our first drink (a delicious Zwickel beer) and the appetizer platter (very tasty). We then sat at a table inside (reminiscent of a Greek tavern) and ate our main courses (gyros with onions, tzatziki, and fries, as well as the grilled meat plate with tomato sauce and fries). The quality and taste of the food impressed us. The owners and service staff were consistently super friendly and relaxed. We had a fantastic culinary evening in a pleasant atmosphere. We had a wonderful and relaxed evening at Neo Kyma. 14 people were all thrilled. The food was incredibly delicious and the service incredibly friendly. Drinks arrived extremely quickly. That's how it should be. We're already looking forward to our next evening at Neo Kyma.

I was there last night. A lovely restaurant. Special! As a guest, you're not rushed to order, eat quickly, and vacate the table. The menu was brought to you, and there was plenty of time to look through it, without annoying questions like, "Are you ready yet?" All the dishes were hot and delicious. There was plenty of time between meals, and the gyro, which is only homemade on Fridays, was delicious and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended.

We've been coming here for years, and the food is truly outstanding. Authentic Greek. You sometimes have to wait a bit longer, but everything is freshly prepared. Highly recommended.

Although it's located right off the main road (albeit a bit set back), it's idyllic and makes you feel at home! The food is delicious and lovingly prepared, and you also get recommendations that have always been helpful to us!

Truly extremely delicious and hospitable! We were there yesterday with 7 adults and one child. We all had starters, main courses, and a few desserts. The service was AMAZING, the kind I've only experienced in fancy restaurants: Just before you've finished your drink, someone comes over and asks if you'd like anything else. Friendly and courteous staff. The starters all arrived almost simultaneously, and the saganaki, zucchini, and stuffed mushrooms were a dream! In the fabulous weather, we sat outside for a long time, which is why it got very busy at 7 p.m., and the staff apologized as we were ordering because dessert might take a little longer. Now that's what I call honest service where you know where you stand. PS: What we didn't know before - dogs are welcome - there were tie-downs and a water bowl where we sat outside - next time we'll bring our dog :)

Simply abysmally bad. Sunday 6:00 PM, we wanted to eat outside (5-6 tables occupied). We were greeted with an annoyed "Hello." Our table was dirty from the previous guest and hadn't been cleaned. Then we just waited, waited, waited. For the menu, for drinks, for the food. We got our food at 7:30 PM. The waiter was so incompetent and had no eye for his guests. Long faces and empty glasses everywhere at the tables. Now the icing on the cake: He actually asked if we were satisfied 😳 To which I asked, "Are you serious?" His response was, "If you didn't like it, you don't have to come back!!!! Hospitality is expressed a little differently there!" What a shame.

The ideal place to get a little holiday feeling in Herne when the weather is nice. The service is lovely, the food is really good and you can't complain about the price either. Parking is good, the crowd is pleasantly down-to-earth, the terrace is large… recommended!

I had dinner in this Greek taverna for the first time. Five of us came to this place. This restaurant has its own parking lot and is therefore just a hop away. In addition to the stairs, the tavern also has a ramp which allows you to easily reach the entrance with a wheelchair or walker (big plus). Apparently from the outside it is a very nice tavern with an adjoining terrace. Unfortunately we were there in winter, so the terrace is not included in the review. The interior is spartan, but Athena would really like the design of the walls. Now to the most important point, the food: The food was served hot, the degree of doneness was sometimes good and also not so good. But everything tasted OK. The prices match the food. Now let's get to the service: The first drink was delivered promptly and the food order was placed straight away. The starters were at the table at the same time 15 minutes later and we could start. But unfortunately everything went downhill from there in terms of service. The main course was delivered individually, so my son had already finished eating and I hadn't even gotten my dish yet. Just for your information, there were 5 of us and the place was almost empty. We weren't asked at all the whole time whether we would like to drink something else, even though our glasses (all of them) had been empty for a long time. Unfortunately, the same applied to the appetizer plates, as the topic of clearing them away was obviously ignored. We were kind enough to pile everything up at the edge of the table. At some point we ordered dessert, which unfortunately was completely different from the menu but luckily it was found to be good. We then asked for the bill and luckily it was there 10 minutes later. Normally I thought it was usual for an aniseed schnapps (ouzo) to be served with the bill, but that wasn't the case. Of course, this aniseed schnapps that was not served is also not included in the rating! So to the short conclusion about the improvement: I would like to give the restaurant a second chance because I don't think the foundation (kitchen + ambience) is bad. When the service often goes from the counter to the tables to look for empty glasses and plates. If the food were served at the same time, the tavern would get a new lease of life. Good job with 2-3 question marks. The red sauce for the meat was very thin, not to say watery. Mayonnaise only came after the 3rd request... The most important thing is it was delicious 😋

Very tasty 😋 and we were served very friendly

Unfortunately, I really expected more. First of all, the food was okay, but nothing earth-shattering. In my opinion, it's not Greek as you'd expect it. We got a few fries with our main courses. Looking at some of the pictures here, it's even more outrageous. Maybe there were 10 fries! Then we had two starters that were okay, but they were supposed to come with two slices of bread. They asked us whether they were grilled or not, and we said the better option, so he said grilled. Unfortunately, I only realized it when I got home that we were simply charged 4 euros, and we only got one slice of bread! The service took a long time despite the restaurant being almost empty. The ambiance is okay, and the restroom was a freezer even though no window was open. All in all, 3 stars isn't good enough! It's a shame, I expected much more based on previous reviews. I can recommend many other restaurants in Herne, but not this one.

A complete success. The price/performance ratio was good. The vegetarian dishes have improved. We were a group of eight people and had seven different dishes, all served at almost the same time. The interval between starters and main courses was appropriate.

Ein empfehlenswertes Restaurant. Nach Tavernen-art eingerichtet. Das Essen ausgezeichnet, selbst vegetarische Gerichte. Das Lokal war voll und uns wurden sieben verschiedene Hauptgerichte zeitgleich serviert. Der Abstand zu den Vorspeisen war optimal. Die Wartezeit angemessen.

The food was good, the ambiance inside was OK! The outdoor area, however, could have been improved. The menu was relatively small, and the prices were perfectly OK. However, we had to wait an extremely long time for our food; we had already spent more on drinks per person than on food.

Service is always first class and the food tastes incredibly good. The chicken pan with peppers and mushrooms and the homemade gyros are a real insider tip!

Also wir waren heute auf Empfehlung da. Der Empfang war schon sehr unfreundlich.. Kein Tisch bestellt, dann gibt es auch kein Essen.. Aber auch kein Getränk.. Es ist mit Wartezeiten zu rechnen.. 3 Stunden!! auf eine Vorspeise gewartet.. dann kam die Hauptspeise im 15 Minuten Takt.. zu keiner Zeit haben wir gemeinsam Essen können… nie wieder.. könnte noch Romane schreiben.. schlechterer Service geht nicht..

We have been happy to be guests here for years. Yesterday again delicious Greek food other than gyros. Individual, well-prepared dishes that will fill you up Nevertheless, don't skip the starters, otherwise your palate would complain. I'm looking forward to the summer on the terrace with the friendly service.

I have to say that I have already eaten there 4 times at larger intervals. I thought the last few visits were ok! Well, I have to say that there was a change within the kitchen, tasty meat, starters as you would expect. Attentive waiter, furnishings appropriate for a clubhouse. Tolle Auswahl, sehr frisch, sehr zu empfehlen der Tagesfisch.Die Portionen sind reichlich bemessen. Platz für Nachspeise war da keider keine mehr! Das Interieur lässt einen fast glauben, man befände sich im sonnigen Griechenland statt im nebeligen Herne ☺️. Da werden wir bestimmt wieder hingehen!

Der gesamte Abend war eine Mischung aus "Ein Auge zu drücken, um Stimmung zu bewahren" und Empörung über den fehlenden Service. Schade, dass es sich ausgerechnet heute um ein Geburtstagsessen handelte. Tatsächlich habe ich mich sehr gefreut ihr Lokal kennenzulernen, da von dem frischen Essen geschwärmt wurde. Die Realität war leider eine andere: Egal ob Vor- oder Hauptspeise- gemeinsames Essen sieht anders aus. Alles kam zeitversetzt. Und ich rede nicht von wenigen Minuten. Mein Hauptgang wurde vergessen und kam an, als die gesamte Mannschaft schon fertig war. Das Ambiente war eher kühl und lieblos. Auf Bezahlung von abgepacktem Tütenketchup wurde bestanden, einige von uns wurden vor Augen anderer Gäste einer vergessenen Zahlung bezichtigt, ganz zu schweigen von unfreundlichem Ton und dem Gesichtsausdrucks eines äußerst gelangweilten Kellners. Heraus kam, dass wir keinerlei Bezahlung vergessen hatten und der Fehler bei der Berechnung des Obers lag. Eine Entschuldigung des Hauses kam nicht. Eine Empfehlung für dieses Lokal gibt es nicht. Frische Gerichte sind nur die halbe Miete, der Service darf nicht unterschätzt werden. Und hier ist weder guter Service noch herzliche Gastfreundschaft zu finden.. SCHADE.

Wir waren gestern zum zweiten Mal hier essen. Die Vorspeisenplatte mit warmen und kalten Vorspeisen für 2 Personen ist sehr reichlich und eine der besten die ich je in einem griechischen Restaurant vorgefunden habe. Auch meine Hauptspeise , Riganato war super lecker. Wir haben zwar auch etwas länger auf unser Essen warten müssen aber es hat sich gelohnt. Die Bedienung war super freundlich, auch die Rechnung kam schnell. Vom Ambiente her ist es schlicht aber hübsch und sauber. Einziger ganz kleiner aber nicht unwesentlicher Kritikpunkt, das Bier könnte etwas kühler sein. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Der Außenbereich versprüht den Charme einer Kleingartenanlage, der Service ist zugewandt, die Speisenkarte bietet ausreichend Auswahl, die Qualität der Speisen ist allerdings sehr ordentlich.

Eine tolle griechische Taverne. Der Biergarten ist schön groß und bietet durch die Bäume natürlichen Schatten. Super an heißen Tagen! Das Essen war hervorragend. Wir hatten Grillplatte und Calamari, beides gute Portionen und schön angerichtet. Keine TK-Ware! Die Bedienung war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Wir hatten einen tollen Abend!

Essen hat uns allen geschmeckt und satt ist man problemlos geworden. Inneneinrichtung ist etwas älter aber gepflegt. Der Service war kompetent und nett.

Ausgezeichnetes griechisches Essen!!!

Wir waren heute zu 2. nach langer Zeit Mal wieder dort. Es war wie beim letzten Mal. Einfach super lecker, Portion zum satt werden, sehr freundliches Personal und Chef, essen kam zügig. Eine Vorspeise schien vergessen wurde aber schnell mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht gebracht. Eine kleine sehr aufmerksame Entschädigung wurde uns mit dem Hauptgang gebracht und ließ es uns direkt vergessen. Einfach super! Wir kommen wieder. Bei uns kam die Rechnung innerhalb von 30 Sekunden somit können wir die vorherigen Beschwerden alle samt nicht bestätigen! Danke für die Zeit und das leckere Essen!

Nachtrag aus Juni 2023: Es scheint einen technischen Fehler gegeben zu haben: etliche Bewertungen mit 3 oder weniger Sternen wurden -ich nehme an versehentlich- gelöscht. Ich nehme an, dass das an der Technik lag. Der Besuch war im Sommer 2022: Wir hatten uns auf das Essen im Neo Kyma gefreut, wurden aber leider insgesamt enttäuscht: Die Terrasse ist im Sommer natürlich sehr schön - das war es aber auch mit den positiven Punkten. Die Bedienung wirkte überfordert und genervt von den Gästen, das Essen war OK - aber sicher nicht mehr. Schade, der Standort hätte besseres verdient.

Sehr gutes Essen, alles frisch zubereitet, schönes Ambiente, bei gutem Wetter kann man die große Terrasse nutzen.

Essen ist immer sehr gut und reichlich. Absolut zu empfehlen. Kartennzahlung ist möglich. Im Frühling/Sommer sollte man vorher doch lieber reservieren. Draußen im Biergarten ist für den kleinen Hunger immer etwas da. Es gibt etwas längere Wartezeiten.

Das ist ein super schönes Restaurant der Service war super und freundlich, das Essen war sehr lecker wir werden auf alle Fälle wieder kommen. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen.

Wir waren heute spontan mit sechs Personen und einem Hund da. Das Essen und der Service waren einwandfrei. Das Essen war zügig am Tisch und es war für jeden Geschmack was dabei. Unser Hund wurde total lieb behandelt.

Auch bei 10 Personen klappt alles reibungslos. Speisen sind frisch zubereitet und sehr schmackhaft. Aufmerksame Bedienung und angemessene Preise. Nur zu empfehlen.

Das Essen ist wirklich ausgezeichnet. Sehr schmackhaft und Preislich erschwinglich. Aber das Ambiente und der Service müssen noch nacharbeiten. Wer es einfach mag, ist hier am richtigen Platz.

Am ersten Weihnachtstag nach jängerer Zeit wieder im Neo Kyma gewesen. Wie schon immer sehr leckeres Essen. Der Zaziki vorneweg köstlich. Als Hauptgang verschiedene Fleischsorten mit unterschiedlichen Saucen und leckere Pommes. Danach noch einen griechischen Kaffee und als Abschluss einen Ouzo auf's Haus. Ich kann das Restaurant uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.

Super frischer Salat, generell sehr zu empfehlen, dazu ein wunderschöner Biergarten unter Platanen, das Essen ist einfach super lecker 😋 Babytintenfischtuben gegrillt und erst der gegrillte Lachs, hmmh, spitze!

Sehr gutes griechisches Restaurant mit freundlicher Begrüßung und Bedienung. Unser Hund ist willkommen und bekommt immer ein Leckerlie. Das Tzatziki ist genial und bisher alle Gerichte sehr lecker und frisch gewesen.
