NENI Hamburg in Hamburg

I don't give 5 stars too often - but this restaurant deserves it. We will come back and probably visit a couple of the other NENIs in Germany. Awesome food - nice restaurant.

An absolutely fantastic experience. The food was amazing and the service was top-notch. The ambiance loses a few stars, as it can be a bit cramped at times.

What can I say, I was an absolute Nenifer fan. I was in Vienna years ago when there were no Neni's everywhere. I often cook dishes from Neni's wonderful cookbooks, and yesterday I had an average meal at best. The starters, Moroccan cigars and grilled artichoke were okay. The bread was very good. Our main courses, Sabich and Hamshuka, were not at all what we had hoped for; the Hamshuka was a mountain of hummus and dry meat that had little taste of the spices that otherwise make Jewish cuisine so great. You had to search with a magnifying glass to find the tomato relish. It's very difficult for me to write these words down because I'm such a huge Nenifer fan, but I have the impression that the attention to detail has been lost here.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Neni. The menu is very varied and delicious. The quality of the food is top-notch, and the portions are more than ample. The service is very good and friendly. We'll be happy to come back!

Nice ambiance, food is okay, but for me, there are better options. The service was unfriendly; full glasses were brought to the table, and something kept sloshing on the table; no one came to wipe away the water stains. When pita bread was missing as a side dish, they said, "Yes, here are two pieces" (but we had ordered three). When we pointed out that the schnitzel meat was a bit too gristly, they just said that it was normal because it came from the upper leg. After we sat a little "longer" without ordering anything else, the bill was placed on the table, as the next reservation was supposedly coming (Tuesday after 7:30 p.m.). Otherwise, it was nice to try the place, but I probably wouldn't come back again.

We had such a great evening at NENI! My husband and I tried the set menu with different dishes and desserts, and everything was delicious. The fish was amazing, the hummus so creamy, and the desserts were really unique and tasty. The fresh flatbreads were also a big highlight for us. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service… we’ll definitely come back🤍✨

Great location for a relaxed business lunch on a Friday. I had chicken schnitzel and it was delicious. The venue is very playfully decorated, personnel is polite and food arrives timely.

It used to be really good, but now it's unfortunately just average. The hummus tastes like it came from a supermarket, and the bread doesn't seem fresh, more like it's just been warmed up. Disappointing for the quality and price – there are better options in Hamburg. Recommendation: instead, go to Mirou.

Definitely always worth a visit, and be sure to make a reservation. I always find it a bit too loud, but that's a matter of taste. The food is always top-notch.

Everything was so delicious, and the service was friendly. Awesome location! We had Jerusalem platter and hamshuka. For dessert, we had knafe and sesame, which were a special treat. Incredibly delicious.

First of all: the food is delicious and the service is very friendly! The reason for deducting one star for service is that we couldn't reach anyone on the phone, even though we urgently needed to inform the restaurant that we were running late (traffic jam on the A7 ;)). Since you usually need a reservation, we were worried we wouldn't get a table. Luckily, everything worked out on site, and we were able to enjoy the meal ❤️

Quite tasty but the dishes were overpriced and the €4 water charge per person was completely excessive and outrageous if other drinks were ordered (a total of €16 for 2 bottles of tap water).

Useless male waiter today. My partner came into today with four people and there were clearly two tables next to each other which could have been put together. He was so unhelpful, rude and unaccommodating to my partner. He said he was unable to put them together because they were tables for two. They were unbooked. Though being possibly slightly stupid, he was unable to think you could put them together. Most reasonable people would try to accommodate paying customers. He seemed unhappy in his job and was out to sabotage the business. The company needs to address his lack of customer service. Was thinking of doing a bigger gathering for a business meeting later this month. Will never book with this restaurant.

I went there with high expectations and must say, they were exceeded many times over! My first visit and definitely not my last!

The food was really good. But it wasn't quite enough to make it truly amazing. In my opinion, there's a lack of flavor contrast or different textures in one dish. But that's nitpicking at a high level. The service was very friendly, but we had to wait a long time—45 minutes between two courses. The staff noticed this without us complaining and immediately tried to make up for it by inviting us to dessert. I say it again and again, but for me, it's not a big deal if not everything is perfect, as long as you see the guest, take them seriously, and try to correct any "mistakes." All in all, highly recommended.

Don't come here, everything is disgusting. We ate here with Israelis and they were even more disappointed.

We celebrated my birthday at NENI Hamburg – a total of 27 people, including some children. Das Team hat es geschafft, uns vom ersten Moment an rundum wohlfühlen zu lassen: sehr engagiert, aufmerksam und immer flexibel, auch bei den Sonderwünschen der Kleinen. The food was excellent – fresh, varied and tasted at the top level. We found it particularly nice how uncomplicated the whole team made the event, despite the large group. A big thank you to all employees – you gave us a really nice day! We would love to come back.

This was my second time here, and it's simply delicious. The staff is very friendly, offers recommendations, and is very attentive. I highly recommend it! The ambiance is also fantastic. It's very cozy and tastefully decorated inside. You can also sit outside, but it's rather shady.

Food is amazing, but in combination with the generic service, this place is simply overpriced.

The Neni restaurant in Hamburg is centrally located on Osakaallee in the HafenCity district and is easily accessible by public transport, such as the subway or bus. The cuisine is largely shaped by renowned chef Haya Molcho, who is known for creative dishes with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences. The prices are mid-range, which is appropriate for the quality and ambiance. The restaurant is usually busy, especially in the evenings, so reservations are recommended. The house specialty is a diverse range of dishes with exceptional flavors. The hummus dishes are particularly recommended. Overall, Neni offers a very pleasant, modern atmosphere with diverse cuisine.

Simply lovely Neni. We spontaneously got a table outside. The gravy from the kitchen is already a dream. But the Sabich tops everything. A flavor explosion!!!

I think the restaurant and the adjoining Boilerman Bar are fantastic. My eldest son comes here often, so he celebrated his birthday with us there. The food is delicious, and the staff is fantastic. The only thing that annoys me is the lighting. It's too dim for me. But otherwise, I highly recommend it because it's clean and tidy. I've only been here three times, but I'm looking forward to more visits.

Shalom. A truly wonderful dining experience here. We came spontaneously and got a great seat. Our server was super friendly and helpful. She was able to explain all the dishes to us very well and gave us excellent advice. Thank you for that. The entire ambiance is truly beautiful and a feast for the eyes and the appetite. The portions seem small, but they are truly filling. Definitely recommended and a great new experience.

I was at Neni about two years ago, when everything was still top-notch. Unfortunately, the place hasn't developed in a positive way. The service was noticeably lackluster, superficial, unfriendly, and generally rather poor. Rather unusual given the restaurant's price standards. The food, well, I'm happy to pay more if it's worth it. When I wanted to order the Neni Wagyu Kebab for over €30, the waiter said, "That's very, very little, you certainly won't be full." It would be best to order a few sides, like fries or something. Okay, I ordered fries with it. And the waiter was actually right. Essentially, the dish was a fancy mini meatball on a skewer, served on a hidden blob of hummus. Truly very disappointing! The atmosphere at Neni is okay when it's not too busy. Otherwise, unfortunately, you'll be seated pretty crammed together – similar to the Hamburg S-Bahn during rush hour. Well, we're done with Neni and wouldn't try it again in other cities. It's a shame, really, because I love Israel 😟

There were two of us there and we made a reservation in advance. The welcome was friendly. The service was warm and always smiling. The food was delicious. We had the set menu for two. The portions were enough to fill us up (a bit more). Thank you for your work. We enjoyed it and will be back.

A successful evening – we'd love to come back. We thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy, even if the large, open space can get a bit noisy – but it's still well-suited for conversation. We had the tasting menu and were delighted: all the dishes were delicious. The flexibility with special requests is particularly noteworthy – my wife doesn't like cilantro, and it was served separately for me. A simple solution that demonstrates the attentiveness of the staff here. The service was friendly, competent, and attentive. We felt very comfortable and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Selten so gut gegessen! Wir hatten das Menü für 2 Personen bestellt, und wurden mehr als positiv überrascht. Die Mezze sind der Knaller, jedes Gericht für sich eine Offenbarung. Alles wunderbar abgeschmeckt, die Hommus und Baba Ganoug Varianten sind an Cremigkeit und Geschmack kaum zu toppen. Die Hauptgerichte sind überragend. Der Loup de Mer mit Zitronensauce und Kapern einzigartig. Die weiteren Speisen alle auf höchstem Niveau. Die Desserts runden das Ganze hervorragend ab. As always, it was a great experience. My girlfriend and I have had a delicious meal at every NENI we've been to (Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Hamburg). Such delicious hummus, we've been wondering for years how NENI manages to make it so well. Sabic, Jerusalem plate, and even the kebab dish are always delicious. I also recommend the desserts because you can't get such special treats everywhere. Since we were also hotel guests at the 25h in the old harbor office, we were able to have breakfast in the NENI restaurant in the morning. We loved that in Berlin. Service was friendly as always. Beautifully decorated. We immediately felt at home. I can't think of anything negative. I'd love to see a NENI open in Nuremberg, so we don't always have to drive so far. :) In short: Highly recommended!

My review from two years ago: Always a great experience. Super delicious food, very friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Expensive. Our review for this year: The service is still excellent, but the food has deteriorated significantly. The portions have become smaller, and the finesse has unfortunately been somewhat lost. Sabiche used to be full of flavor explosions, with spicy and mild sauces and textures alternating and tickling the palate. Unfortunately, I've completely missed that on our last two visits, and not just at Sabiche. The food is still okay, but you can get similar things at much cheaper restaurants. It's a shame! We're taking a break at Neni for now ☹️

I visited NENI spontaneously and without a reservation on a Saturday in July in the early afternoon. The price/performance ratio is a bit high, but it seems appropriate for the area. Both the interior and exterior areas are very attractive.

My first visit to NENI after purchasing Haya Molcho's Balagan cookbook. The restaurant's overall package is simply perfect; the ambiance and location are perfect. Although we couldn't snag a table outside for a balmy summer evening, we were able to get a table inside in the early evening without a reservation. The decor is very chic, the service very friendly and attentive, and the food was absolutely top-notch. I can hardly wait to visit another NENI restaurant in another city.

The vegan food here is great. The main course portion was large enough to share, and the spices were a delight. The sesame ice cream with halva is especially recommended for dessert—be sure to save room for it!

I had the Jerusalem plate. Unfortunately, I didn't like the hummus. It tasted like store-bought hummus. I expected more, especially since the whole plate was full of it. I paid €29 for a small Coke and the main course. It also included a small appetizer (olives and bread). Unfortunately, I didn't like that bread. But the pita bread with the main course was delicious. At that price, I'd be happy to have two pieces with the main course as standard; one isn't enough (you have to pay an extra €1.50 per piece). The service was nice and friendly. The chicken with the main course was delicious. All in all, the visit was okay. Unfortunately, the food didn't blow me away, but it was solid. However, given the prices (unfortunately, they're everywhere on the corner), it could be a bit better.

Unreserved recommendation! Whenever we're in Hamburg, it's practically a must. Delicious, top-quality food and super-friendly staff!

An exquisite meal. We arrived without a reservation around 6 p.m., and a friendly and affable server seated us immediately. The dishes were served quickly (less than 10 minutes). We really enjoyed the original cuisine, and the price was reasonable (+/- €20 per dish). I highly recommend it.

we went here after seeing the basque cheesecake post on their instagram page and also saw it on their website. But sadly, they didn't have it in the restaurant. So we had the regular lemon cheesecake which was good. For the drink we ordered a chocolate, expecting a hot chocolate drink, but the drink had very little chocolate and a lot of milk. Also the price of the lemon cheesecake was 9 euros which sounded ridiculously high. Would have paid that for a basque cheesecake though.

The food was of good quality and richly spiced, typical of the region. The menu focused on traditional dishes, not innovation. Price level was higher.

What an exceptionally delicious meal, wonderful service, and a fantastic atmosphere. The three-course menu, a "journey through Tel Aviv's cuisine," absolutely blew us away. We love Israeli cuisine and were not only given outstanding service and advice at NENI, but were also completely spoiled. The food was very good, and it was fun to try some new things. We'll definitely go back to another location and try more. The atmosphere was inviting and, despite the large number of guests, not too loud or crowded. Only the service left something to be desired, at least at our table. The waiter walked past us for a good 25 minutes after we had already finished our food. So we didn't order anything else. People at the neighboring tables asked more frequently. That was a shame.

We ate there for the first time yesterday with a small group. Unfortunately, our service was abysmal. I've never experienced such unfriendly and rude service. We should have left immediately, as it seriously spoiled our enjoyment of the meal. There were no practical instructions about the dishes, not even a single friendly word. Later, another very friendly employee asked us if we hadn't been told that certain dishes didn't come with side dishes and which ones we could have with them. No, she hadn't. She hadn't asked us whether any side dishes were desired when ordering. Then it would have been noticed. The crowning glory was the request for separate payment, with the rude remark that we should calculate it ourselves, otherwise she would be away for 15 minutes, even though the process only took a few minutes. She wasted most of the time with her cheeky and rude remarks. It's the tone that counts. We gave no cause for such unfriendly behavior and will never enter this restaurant again. We don't want to be treated like that.

This restaurant is highly recommended. The dishes are excellent, the service is very friendly, and the ambiance is wonderful. For my wife and me, it's the best restaurant serving international cuisine in Hamburg.

I was here for lunch and had a still water and the Wagyu kebab as my main course for €33.50. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat the Israeli salad I ordered with it because the acidity was too strong for my tongue. It was therefore removed from the bill. The kebab came as a small skewer of yogurt on a few onions and mint, without any filling side dish. The taste was rather neutral to my taste buds; I missed the notes of Levantine cuisine. Unfortunately, I didn't get full, so I went to the Turkish restaurant around the corner. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for the price, and it didn't live up to my high expectations. However, the ambiance is very nice, and the staff are friendly.

Unfortunately, only 3 stars today. I love Nenis. In Vienna, I like to go to Nenis at the Naschmarkt, by the water, or at the Prater. Today the food was very fine and well-balanced, but the service was unfortunately a bit clumsy. (No cutlery exchanged between courses, reordering drinks only after repeated requests). At just under €100 for two without dessert/espresso, I simply expected more.
