Namasto - Indische Spezialitäten in Jena

I'd like to share my experience with this restaurant. My delivery took about 2.5 hours to arrive. During that time, I had to call the restaurant three times; each time, I was told that the food would only take a few more minutes. Finally, I was informed that they had previously served a large party of around 40 people, which had caused the delay. I pointed out that I couldn't understand why they were accepting any further delivery orders under such circumstances. The whole experience was disappointing, and I won't be ordering from them again.

For the last three orders, the wait time was always 2-3 hours, even though online and on the phone it said 30-45 minutes. It's unbelievable how long we have to wait! We will never order food from there again.

I can't stand these godless YouTube ads anymore. They're so much louder than everything else. If I'm already walking past them, I just lose interest. And I actually really like Indian food.

Small space bur thats the only bad thing

This restaurant has a very small interior space. And, from what I could see, the tables located outside don't have heaters. In other words, in winter, you have to eat inside, which accommodates four couples in a cramped and uncomfortable way. For that reason alone, I'm not very interested in returning to the restaurant. Regarding the food, it seemed very simple, that is, less seasoned than it could be. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi. Both, although served in good portions, are not among the tastiest I've ever had. The rice, also well-served, didn't seem well-seasoned. The delay in preparing the dishes was also a negative point. I believe we waited more than 30 minutes to be served. Upon arrival, the tables were not clean nor had they been sanitized. Even so, the service was courteous, and it was possible to pay by card and split the bill without any embarrassment – ​​which isn't always possible in some restaurants in the area. I paid 20 euros for the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Mango Lassi.

Not recommended! We were really looking forward to the food...we don't have high expectations, but what they served us was outrageous...we'd rather go somewhere else.

The best Indian food in Jena! The ingredients are varied and fresh, the meat, whether lamb or chicken, is tender and lean, and each dish tastes unique and is authentically spiced.

I think I Namasto is one of the best indian restaurant in jena .I have experienced alot of food here expecially namasto special grill. I would recommend you if you want to experience indian food then go to namasto..

The food was super delicious and came out of the kitchen quickly. We didn't have to wait 15 minutes before our main course was ready. The staff was really friendly and took great care of us. The food arrived fresh and quickly, was very tasty, and the price-performance ratio was more than reasonable. We also received a small welcome from the kitchen at the beginning in the form of papadum with dips.

Delicious food (not too spicy, good flavor, and you can actually tell the difference between butter chicken and masala dishes. If you order meat dishes, there's actually plenty of meat in them, not just peppers and onions in a sauce). Delivered on time. Large portions and a solid price-performance ratio, delivered at the agreed time. Ordering is easy on the website; simple, reliable, and no fuss. Overall, I recommend it if you want quick, uncomplicated, tasty food.

Everything was top-notch; we can't understand the sometimes very negative experiences of other guests here at all! The price/performance ratio is right, both when eating in and when picking up. We'll be back again and again, because the taste and the people are great.

I highly recommend this Indian restaurant. Simply delicious. The mango curry with rice is a dream, beautifully prepared, and delivered quickly. Great.

Is there a new owner? We've always loved the food at Namasto. But lately, nothing's been right: 2 out of 4 orders were delivered incorrectly. Even though the waitress was exemplary, she even repeated the order! The vindaloo wasn't particularly spicy and had significantly more potato pieces than meat. The low point was the naan: it was probably tarte flambée dough, not at all suitable for absorbing sauce, very hard, and tasted exactly like tarte flambée. So, we're taking another long break.

Our favorite Indian restaurant in Jena. We've only eaten there so far, and it's always been great. It's a simple snack bar; you can even sit outside in the summer. A small appetizer is free. The food is always very fresh and traditional. We love coming here.

Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this restaurant. We ordered food for 6:30 p.m. today, and it wasn't delivered until 7:38 p.m. The first time I called was around 6:50 p.m. and politely inquired about the delivery. I was told it would be in about 20-25 minutes. After that, however, the food still hadn't arrived. After another five minutes, I called again. It would take about another 10 minutes and I was told they were very busy today. As the conversation continued, the restaurant simply hung up. In my opinion, this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. Why is the order confirmed if it's clearly not possible? Why isn't someone proactively approaching me as a customer/guest? The food this time wasn't as good as usual.

I ordered food to take away, which was ready quickly but unfortunately not tasty. They also came with a lot of naan, but that's no use if it doesn't taste good :)

Despite ordering in advance, the food is never ready in time... they say it's 15-20 minutes and it's actually 45-50 minutes.

Delivery was almost on time and complete. Therefore all stars for the service. We had the shrimp and tomato soup, chicken curry and, for dessert, the tiramisu. The shrimp soup was very tasty. The tomato soup was more of a puree than a soup and unfortunately far too sweet for our taste. The chicken curry was a pinch of salt away from being inedible, i.e. clearly too salty. The naan was great, as you would hope, and the rice was also totally fine. Everything was hot. The tiramisu (from Edeka out of the package) was tasty, but that doesn't apply to the restaurant, so it was even more of a shame that some of it was still frozen and the core had crystallized. I really hope, should we order again, that it was just the exception. We are put off at first.

A "No Solicitation" sign on the mailbox also includes restaurant brochures.

I found the food to be a little too sweet for our taste, but the naan was excellent. The portions are also very large at lunchtime and fill you up. The starter with papadum and 2 dips was a nice touch. Price-wise, completely okay. The atmosphere isn't the nicest. But it is cozy and there is a toilet. You can also pay with a Visa card or even Google/Apple Pay if you like (the symbols were shown).

Our absolute favorite Indian! In addition, the employees always respond to any special requests, even in the comments field when ordering. We are thrilled every time!!

Once upon a time... as we all know, that's how every story begins. It was honestly our favorite Indian place, we enjoyed eating there or ordering take away. But yesterday, February 1st, 2025, we felt like Indian again and since we were in Jena anyway, we went straight there and ordered takeaway. But unfortunately we found that the quality of the food had decreased very, very much. We were so excited, despite the small and narrow (squeezed together) dining room. It doesn't look the best from the outside, but that didn't bother us. Because the food tasted so delicious. But yesterday the disappointment was so great that we left the restaurant. We'd rather go to Weimar to see the competition. But there is still a plus point for the service, which was very nice and accommodating. I hope that the review is useful and that there is an impetus to improve the quality. Naan was good, curry dishes weren't great and the rice was a few hours "old" (very dry) in our opinion.

Geschmacklos bis abgebrannt. Ich kann nur abraten dort zu bestellen und wenn man vor Ort ist, kleiner Tip: geht mal rechts um das Haus die Gasse runter und schaut euch die Küche unten an. Nie Wieder es ich dort was!

The owner and staff are very friendly. But the food quality is not up to the mark. The biriani were not nice and did not have much similarity with cuisine from back home. The samosa skin was too thick and greasy.

We have ordered from namasto several times in the past. The quality and taste have always been good and so we have always accepted longer waiting times for delivery. But today we had to wait over 2 hours for our order and then the delivery was still incomplete! After an immediate call - that the delivery was not complete - the additional delivery arrived after an hour! So we waited a total of 3 hours until our order was complete. Very unfortunate.

The food here is A1, but unfortunately I found the delivery person to be very unfriendly. He didn't even say hello to me. It didn't have to be that way, at least I saved the tip that way.

Dal was completely oversalted and unfortunately cooked hastily, so that the typical creamy dal was not available, but rather a chunky dal doped with starch. And it was extremely salty. It's a shame, the paneer was a lot better the other day.

Whilethe restaurant looks a little run-down, the food is by far the best indian food in town. It's made freshly and is absolutely amazing. The staff is nice and you are provided with everything you need. Prices are about average.

Maybe it would be an option to stop accepting orders if there are too many orders? This could prevent long waiting times and ensure the quality of the food. It's a shame, we won't be ordering any more for now.

I can't judge the food. We ordered food 3 hours ago. At 6 p.m. we thought that we would be able to eat with our children by 7 p.m. at the latest. The food tastes good. Unfortunately, the delivery service is absolutely unreliable - it was repeatedly stated that it would take an hour, but the delivery then took at least two hours. Therefore definitely not recommended for deliveries and the ambience on site is also not suitable. A real shame!

Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt angenehme Schärfe. Freundliche Bedienung. Haben für Innen Tisch bestellt, leider hat mich der Schlag getroffen. Hätten gleich wieder gehen sollen, waren jedoch hungrig. Kleine Sitzecke, die im Zug der offenen Tür bei 8 Grad war. Es ging zu wie im Taubenschlag, da zu 95 % Lieferservice.

Best Indian Restaurant in Jena!!! *Food* I had a Chicken Curry here last week. The food was absolutely incredible! I had never been to this place and was blown away by the taste of their food. *Portion* The size of the portion was enough to fill me up and then some. I loved the fact that I was finally at a restaurant that made sure my stomach was filled to the brim :). *Staff* The icing on the cake was the fantastic service! The staff is the most polite I have ever experienced in all of Germany. *Recommendation* This is a solid 5/5 stars from me. Make sure to check this restaurant out the next time you are going out in Jena.

Sehr leckeres indisches Essen und freundliche Mitarbeiter! Sollten wir mal wieder in Jena zu Besuch sein, werden wir mit Sicherheit wieder hier essen.

Nette Bedienung, das Essen war aber leider etwas lasch gewürzt und wir haben fast eine Stunde darauf vor Ort gewartet. War aber wohl eine Ausnahme, wie uns versichert wurde. Der Lassi war lecker.

Super lecker! Das Naan Brot wird frisch zubereitet. Pakora als Vorspeise kann ich nur empfehlen. Insgesamt waren alle Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich. Die Preise finde ich entsprechend der großen Portionen fair.

Habe aufgrund eines Missverständnisses 1x Chicken Biryani umsonst bekommen, beide male war das Essen sehr sehr gut und noch heiß als es ankam. Ebenfalls waren die Angestellten sehr freundlich. 👍👍

Indisches Essen in gewohnter aber durchaus guter Qualität. Preise insgesamt ein bisschen zu hoch für das, was man am Ende auf dem Teller hat. Einen besseren Inder konnte ich in Jena allerdings bisher nicht finden.

The good is extremely tasty and the portions are very good fod their price! Naan tastes very good and several dishes that we tried were great. There isn't a lot of sitting places inside when cold, but stuff was super friendly and offered us some appetizers (without ordering) which also tasted great with sauces. Would recommend to anyone!

Wir waren zu dritt dort haben viele verschiedene Gerichte probiert. Alles Sowohl vegetarisch als auch Fleischgerichte waren wieder hervorragend. Auch Mango Lassie war hervorragend. Absolut empfehlenswert.

We ordered all Indian spread. From roti to the curries, each and every dish we ordered was just too good. All members of the family relished the delicacies. The hotel staff was just too friendly and made our lunch time really homely and enjoyable. Will keep coming here regularly.

Leider konnte ich in diesem Restaurant nicht das bestellte Essen geliefert bekommen. Mal von dem etwas überteuerten Preis abgesehen, gab es auch keine Möglichkeit mit dem Personal über den Fehler zu sprechen. Nach etwas hin und her wurde mir das Geld über Paypal erstattet und das Essen wieder abgeholt.

Chicken Pakora & Butter Chicken mit Reis & Naan Brot bestellt. Essen war lecker, kam pünktlich und der Fahrer war äußerst freundlich.

War für ein paar Wochen mit mein Freund und seine Mutter hier essen. Der Laden ist sehr klein aber die Bedienung war mega freundlich und das Essen hervorragend. Der naan Brot kam frisch aus dem Ofen, ich hatte eine indische Curry mit Entenbrust. Der Ente war so saftig und zart. Das bekommen die meisten indische Restaurants wo wir bisher waren nicht hin. Die Mango Chicken war sehr cremig und hat eine sehr angenehme Geruch von Mango abgegeben. Alles in alle bestens.
