Excellent food, friendly staff good value for money

Although all the tables were occupied, they found a solution for us when we called, which was very kind. Otherwise, we were very satisfied. The food was excellent with all the dishes we chose.

Anyone who enjoys good home-style cooking in very generous quantities will inevitably come across this restaurant in Bautzen.

My first visit here. They seem to be trying, but you get the impression that the staff aren't really enjoying their jobs. The food was good, no complaints there. The beer prices are outrageous. €5.80 for 0.5 liters. It's great that they offer regional beer. Perhaps Landskron is doing too well? That's for the owner to decide, not the customer. And how they can sell the same old sour egg sauce as soup for €8.50 is just ridiculous.

If you're in Bautzen, a visit to the Bautzener Senfstube is definitely worth it! The dishes are individually flavored with mustard, which is what makes this place special. We also highly recommend the seasonal menu. In my case, it was pumpkin schnitzel with fries, which was outstanding and I've never had anything like it before. The service was also very attentive. Overall, a lovely experience. I'd be happy to go back!

We visited the Bautzener Senfstube last night and were absolutely thrilled. The service was excellent. The staff were super attentive and friendly. The rustic and cozy atmosphere made you feel right at home. The food was also delicious. We thought it could have been a bit more spicy, but that's a personal preference, of course. All in all, it was a great evening. We'd love to come back!

We were actually here to eat the advertised "popular specialty" of bratwurst with Bautzen mustard on homemade cucumber and potato salad. The dish was advertised on the menu at the entrance and again on a display at the tables. When the drinks had already been ordered and were on the table, they said "no longer available" - great. You'd think that bratwurst with mustard and potato salad wouldn't be a dish that could be discontinued or only available seasonally, but oh well... Next time, please be careful about what you offer and can't serve.

The food tasted good and the service was good too. What really gets on a guest's nerves is a long paragraph on the back of the drinks menu, listing everything that's gone up in price. How embarrassing is that? We know ourselves that things are getting more expensive. Such nonsense only alienates guests. Guests are only interested in good food and good service, not such a nonsensical list. The service staff certainly didn't come up with that. That's why it goes to the manager. Sincerely.

We didn't get to eat. I've never experienced such unfriendly service. We wanted to sit outside. At first, one server directed us to another, which we eventually found. Even though the restaurant was half empty, we were rudely told that only four people were allowed at a table! We then left.

Unfortunately, we weren't served. Even after asking for a drink, including a cheeky reply from the waiter (who apparently prefers polishing glasses to serving customers), we weren't served after another five minutes of waiting. Another group got up and left with us. What a pity.

Today I ate a mustard schnitzel with fries. It tasted really good, and I especially enjoyed the subtle combination of mustard in the schnitzel. However, the portion was a bit smaller than I'm used to: both the fries and the schnitzel could have been a bit more generous for my taste, especially considering the price of €19. My conclusion: The dish is highly recommended; it tastes great! However, if you prefer larger portions, you might want to order an appetizer or side dish.

We wanted to eat here today. There were plenty of free tables, both inside and on the terrace. When we wanted to sit at a table for four, we were rudely asked to move to a table for two. We didn't want that, so they continued to "harass" us. After that, we left. This had nothing to do with service.

Thank goodness we had a reservation. The food was excellent, and the drinks came very quickly. The waiters were super nice and very accommodating. Great restaurant.

We visited the Senfstuben last night around 7 p.m. Since it was very busy, we called ahead – a good decision, as demand is high. Despite the full house, the service was extremely friendly, attentive, and quick. The food completely impressed us: freshly prepared, very tasty, and of high quality. You can tell the love and care goes into the cooking here. The atmosphere was lively, yet pleasant. The value for money is absolutely spot on. We can definitely recommend the Senfstuben and would gladly come back!"

The place had high ratings. The meals descriptions were done right - it looked the meal will be delicious. It was written that you will get a famous special bread. At the end nearly 20 Euro for simple bread with fried bacon bacon, pork meat and egs is too much and absolutelly had nothing to do with the category of "main meal".

Unfortunately, the food was only average. The mustard on the schnitzel and the mustard-caper sauce on the meatballs were almost unnoticeable. It's a shame; we expected a bit more.

A place with a unique atmosphere. A chance to sample local cuisine. We had mustard soup and sausage with potato salad in a honey mustard sauce. The food was very good. The restaurant was full. Despite this, the service was very fast, and we didn't have to wait long for our meals. I recommend both the restaurant and the Sorbian village.

At first, I was hesitant. Should we really go to the Senfstube in Bautzen? It's probably just another tourist thing. But we weren't disappointed in the slightest. Our server was attentive, even though he was the only one serving the packed outdoor tables. The food was incredibly good. The pork medallions were particularly impressive. Plus, the outdoor seating is really nice. I would go back.

We weren't served on the terrace because it might rain! All other terraces in the city center are open. Staff is urgently needed.

We were at the Senfstube a few years ago and thought, since the food was so good back then, we'd go back while we were in the area. No sooner said than done... we made a reservation, which was necessary; it was busy, which speaks for itself, really! We stood at the entrance for a while until a waiter noticed us and asked what he could do. He looked at the table, showed it to us, and up until then, everything was fine... The drinks came pretty quickly... and so did the food; we had main prizes. The four of us ordered two spiced meats to share, which we told him. They didn't provide a second plate or cutlery, which was a shame! ``` The main course, well, it was beautifully presented (it's a sight to behold), but unfortunately, it got zero points in terms of flavor. It was the schnitzel, which tasted extremely greasy, the liver, which was dry, and the liver sauce, which was gelatinous (sorry). You can make that at home, but a chef should know how to make a sauce... All in all, it was edible, but not tasty, and not for these prices! A shame for such a historic establishment! And a shame about the best mustard in the world!

Yes, good food, value for money is OK. Because you won't find it cheaper anywhere. So you shouldn't always think about yourself; the restaurant has to make a living, too. I personally found the portions generous and fresh, and I eat a lot. And if I'm full, that's saying something. Friendly staff, keep it up. Thumbs up.

It was already cheap, so it's not a milk bar, and you'll have to spend some of your hard-earned money. Besides, if you don't like mustard, steer clear, because without this wonderful condiment, you'll only get a beer. If you like mustard, this is a must-see. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, we experienced extremely poor service today. It was raining shortly before 5 p.m. and we just wanted a drink. The restaurant was empty. We were initially told that evening business was about to begin and that it would be full. After being told that we were just two people and only wanted a drink, and that we would be leaving in about 30 minutes, we were asked to sit in the next room by the wall. We had actually found a table by the wall without a reservation card and sat down. Unfortunately, we were wrong; it was a table by the wrong wall. We were very rudely informed that we were sitting by the wrong wall. I then gently asked her to let me know if she didn't want to serve us. But unfortunately, there was no polite relenting. And this was in front of other guests who were arriving at the same time. We were approached again. Well, we decided to go to the neighboring restaurant, Da Gelo. They were happy to serve us a drink there, which was actually a better choice for me, as the beer came straight from Bautzen. It's a shame that these days, due to a lack of staff, you have to put up with one thing or another. Incidentally, they're also looking for staff here. Perhaps one or two of the employees are to blame for the lack of staff. The colleague today is by no means a positive representative of an otherwise great location with an interesting concept.

The food was delicious. There was a sufficient selection, with something for every taste. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the service; we had the feeling the two staff were a bit overwhelmed or just didn't really have the enthusiasm to serve us 🙈 What a shame… otherwise, we would have happily given it 5 stars in every area.

Anyone who comes here will love it. Mustard, Bautzner, is the best and most important ingredient. I was surprised, but the mustard in the mashed potatoes is absolutely delicious, and the mustard schnitzel is also worth recommending. The service was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. Reservations are required.

The Senfstube is a great restaurant in Bautzen's old town with delicious home-style cooking. It's perfect for a stroll along Schloßstraße afterward. Only the desserts could be improved.

All kinds of mustard dishes are available, including soup and liquor. It is often full, I recommend booking in advance. It is an interesting gastronomic experience.

We were here for a family meal. We received a friendly welcome. There was a plentiful selection of food, including a separate children's menu. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Everyone enjoyed the food and was full.

Wiweren eaten in the parlor on Easter Sunday. The large salad plate with chicken was good but not a treat. The mustard schnitzel was “goes like that” The beer was very good. About the service: It wasn't there! The lady who managed the terrace that day either didn't feel like it or didn't care. After 25 minutes (she had already passed us 6 times... where she had placed us) we were just about to leave when she took pity on us. The fact that other guests who were there before us left without ordering anything didn't bother the lady in the least. Added to this was her fake, unfriendly manner...

Bautzener Senfstube - that raises expectations really high! It was a celebration for us to be guests here! At short notice we secured a table for the same evening in the afternoon - that was our duty. Service: Now to the freestyle: We sat a little apart, very quiet and received excellent service from Jodocus from the first to the last moment! Very friendly, attentive, quick and accommodating! The guest has the feeling that someone has found their calling here. Food: Bautzen mustard roast, sauerkraut and dumplings on the one hand, and salmon with noodles in honey mustard sauce! To top it all off, the Vainlle mustard ice cream! Very happy again - a feast for all senses!!!

There are certainly other very good restaurants in Bautzen. But we went to this restaurant just because of the history and we weren't disappointed! Simply a simple decor from the past, but the food was delicious and of course there were also dishes without mustard ;-)

The service was very good, the atmosphere was cozy, but the food was very poor. It was tasteless and barely seasoned (if at all) and the only thing you could taste was the mustard. The food was well prepared, but the taste could still be improved and components could be added that complement the taste of the mustard so that the mustard taste does not stand alone. Rustic restaurant in downtown Bautz. It's better to pre-order on the weekend otherwise there will be a shortage of seats. Draft beer is around 5 euros, food is around 18-23 euros. Everything tastes delicious and is sufficient. Parking is relatively difficult. The best thing to do is to park your car at Schützenplatz and walk the few hundred meters through the narrow streets of Bautzen.
