Mustard Restaurant in Bautzen

Today I ate a mustard schnitzel with fries. It tasted really good, and I especially enjoyed the subtle combination of mustard in the schnitzel. However, the portion was a bit smaller than I'm used to: both the fries and the schnitzel could have been a bit more generous for my taste, especially considering the price of €19. My conclusion: The dish is highly recommended; it tastes great! However, if you prefer larger portions, you might want to order an appetizer or side dish.

We wanted to eat here today. There were plenty of free tables, both inside and on the terrace. When we wanted to sit at a table for four, we were rudely asked to move to a table for two. We didn't want that, so they continued to "harass" us. After that, we left. This had nothing to do with service.

Thank goodness we had a reservation. The food was excellent, and the drinks came very quickly. The waiters were super nice and very accommodating. Great restaurant.

Very tasty food, a large selection of Bautz'ner mustard-based dishes on the menu, and large portions. Very friendly and helpful service.

We visited the Senfstuben last night around 7 p.m. Since it was very busy, we called ahead – a good decision, as demand is high. Despite the full house, the service was extremely friendly, attentive, and quick. The food completely impressed us: freshly prepared, very tasty, and of high quality. You can tell the love and care goes into the cooking here. The atmosphere was lively, yet pleasant. The value for money is absolutely spot on. We can definitely recommend the Senfstuben and would gladly come back!"

The place had high ratings. The meals descriptions were done right - it looked the meal will be delicious. It was written that you will get a famous special bread. At the end nearly 20 Euro for simple bread with fried bacon bacon, pork meat and egs is too much and absolutelly had nothing to do with the category of "main meal".

Unfortunately, the food was only average. The mustard on the schnitzel and the mustard-caper sauce on the meatballs were almost unnoticeable. It's a shame; we expected a bit more.

A place with a unique atmosphere. A chance to sample local cuisine. We had mustard soup and sausage with potato salad in a honey mustard sauce. The food was very good. The restaurant was full. Despite this, the service was very fast, and we didn't have to wait long for our meals. I recommend both the restaurant and the Sorbian village.

At first, I was hesitant. Should we really go to the Senfstube in Bautzen? It's probably just another tourist thing. But we weren't disappointed in the slightest. Our server was attentive, even though he was the only one serving the packed outdoor tables. The food was incredibly good. The pork medallions were particularly impressive. Plus, the outdoor seating is really nice. I would go back.

Very nice place to eat, lots of comfortable seating arrangements and it is family friendly. The food was freshly prepared and delicious. The service was excellent. It is not a fancy or formal setting, it is nicely decorated and beautifully designed - casual and very good quality.

We weren't served on the terrace because it might rain! All other terraces in the city center are open. Staff is urgently needed.

We were at the Senfstube a few years ago and thought, since the food was so good back then, we'd go back while we were in the area. No sooner said than done... we made a reservation, which was necessary; it was busy, which speaks for itself, really! We stood at the entrance for a while until a waiter noticed us and asked what he could do. He looked at the table, showed it to us, and up until then, everything was fine... The drinks came pretty quickly... and so did the food; we had main prizes. The four of us ordered two spiced meats to share, which we told him. They didn't provide a second plate or cutlery, which was a shame! ``` The main course, well, it was beautifully presented (it's a sight to behold), but unfortunately, it got zero points in terms of flavor. It was the schnitzel, which tasted extremely greasy, the liver, which was dry, and the liver sauce, which was gelatinous (sorry). You can make that at home, but a chef should know how to make a sauce... All in all, it was edible, but not tasty, and not for these prices! A shame for such a historic establishment! And a shame about the best mustard in the world!

Despite not having a reservation, we still managed to snag a good spot for five of us: it's worth it! Praise for the excellent food – tasty, refined, fresh, and of good quality. Super tasty food and cozy interior

Yes, good food, value for money is OK. Because you won't find it cheaper anywhere. So you shouldn't always think about yourself; the restaurant has to make a living, too. I personally found the portions generous and fresh, and I eat a lot. And if I'm full, that's saying something. Friendly staff, keep it up. Thumbs up.

It was already cheap, so it's not a milk bar, and you'll have to spend some of your hard-earned money. Besides, if you don't like mustard, steer clear, because without this wonderful condiment, you'll only get a beer. If you like mustard, this is a must-see. I highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, we experienced extremely poor service today. It was raining shortly before 5 p.m. and we just wanted a drink. The restaurant was empty. We were initially told that evening business was about to begin and that it would be full. After being told that we were just two people and only wanted a drink, and that we would be leaving in about 30 minutes, we were asked to sit in the next room by the wall. We had actually found a table by the wall without a reservation card and sat down. Unfortunately, we were wrong; it was a table by the wrong wall. We were very rudely informed that we were sitting by the wrong wall. I then gently asked her to let me know if she didn't want to serve us. But unfortunately, there was no polite relenting. And this was in front of other guests who were arriving at the same time. We were approached again. Well, we decided to go to the neighboring restaurant, Da Gelo. They were happy to serve us a drink there, which was actually a better choice for me, as the beer came straight from Bautzen. It's a shame that these days, due to a lack of staff, you have to put up with one thing or another. Incidentally, they're also looking for staff here. Perhaps one or two of the employees are to blame for the lack of staff. The colleague today is by no means a positive representative of an otherwise great location with an interesting concept.

The food was delicious. There was a sufficient selection, with something for every taste. Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed with the service; we had the feeling the two staff were a bit overwhelmed or just didn't really have the enthusiasm to serve us 🙈 What a shame… otherwise, we would have happily given it 5 stars in every area.

We received excellent and prompt service. The staff is very dedicated and courteous. The food is prepared with great craftsmanship and traditional methods. The menu also includes vegan and vegetarian dishes, which is a huge plus. The seasonal asparagus menu leaves nothing to be desired. We'll definitely be back!

The Senfstube is a great restaurant in Bautzen's old town with delicious home-style cooking. It's perfect for a stroll along Schloßstraße afterward. Only the desserts could be improved.

All kinds of mustard dishes are available, including soup and liquor. It is often full, I recommend booking in advance. It is an interesting gastronomic experience.

We were here for a family meal. We received a friendly welcome. There was a plentiful selection of food, including a separate children's menu. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Everyone enjoyed the food and was full.

We went out to eat with a larger group on May 1st and unfortunately had to endure longer waiting times. That somewhat tarnished the positive impression. Nevertheless, the food was very good and fairly priced, the gentleman at the service was very friendly!

Wiweren eaten in the parlor on Easter Sunday. The large salad plate with chicken was good but not a treat. The mustard schnitzel was “goes like that” The beer was very good. About the service: It wasn't there! The lady who managed the terrace that day either didn't feel like it or didn't care. After 25 minutes (she had already passed us 6 times... where she had placed us) we were just about to leave when she took pity on us. The fact that other guests who were there before us left without ordering anything didn't bother the lady in the least. Added to this was her fake, unfriendly manner...

Bautzener Senfstube - that raises expectations really high! It was a celebration for us to be guests here! At short notice we secured a table for the same evening in the afternoon - that was our duty. Service: Now to the freestyle: We sat a little apart, very quiet and received excellent service from Jodocus from the first to the last moment! Very friendly, attentive, quick and accommodating! The guest has the feeling that someone has found their calling here. Food: Bautzen mustard roast, sauerkraut and dumplings on the one hand, and salmon with noodles in honey mustard sauce! To top it all off, the Vainlle mustard ice cream! Very happy again - a feast for all senses!!!

There are certainly other very good restaurants in Bautzen. But we went to this restaurant just because of the history and we weren't disappointed! Simply a simple decor from the past, but the food was delicious and of course there were also dishes without mustard ;-)

The service was very good, the atmosphere was cozy, but the food was very poor. It was tasteless and barely seasoned (if at all) and the only thing you could taste was the mustard. The food was well prepared, but the taste could still be improved and components could be added that complement the taste of the mustard so that the mustard taste does not stand alone. Rustic restaurant in downtown Bautz. It's better to pre-order on the weekend otherwise there will be a shortage of seats. Draft beer is around 5 euros, food is around 18-23 euros. Everything tastes delicious and is sufficient. Parking is relatively difficult. The best thing to do is to park your car at Schützenplatz and walk the few hundred meters through the narrow streets of Bautzen.

An extremly nice restaurant. Focused on using local mustards created incredible tasting food. The Austrian Schnitzel got pimped to its best, roasted or grilled chicken, pork or beef get with mustard hull or topping pimped to its Best. A Great local restaurant offering space in- and outside. An appetizer like an mustard soup and vanille ice with mustard topping is fulfiling the menu. Most loved place in Bautzen!

Yes, I can definitely recommend it, we were here on a Saturday lunchtime and there were almost 10 people there. We were given a comfortable place without prior reservation. I was able to enjoy schnitzel au four with seasoned meat and cheese, with fried potatoes...🤟

The food was very tasty, unfortunately I have to deduct a star for the substandard service that argued with us after the food was delivered incorrectly. Another star for the rather high prices that are then charged with outrageous fees for changing side dishes, ketchup and mayo as well as taking away leftovers.

We were looking for a short-term opportunity to enjoy New Year's Eve well fortified. When I made my reservation by phone, a table was very kindly reserved for me in the afternoon. The menu was clear and the selection was great. The meals were delicious. The fire meat was tender and had just the right amount of spiciness. The zander also left nothing to be desired, especially when paired with the peanut mashed potatoes. The service was excellent and very nice. No long waiting times for drinks or food.

Food was good but not great! Starter, the salad was very good, schnitzel with French fries was very dry, the meat was also too dry, fire meat was a kind of very spicy goulash, difficult to estimate the taste because it was very spicy! Service was friendly, only it took too long to order the first drink and we waited a long time for the food and the service was never seen again. Reason, one person is simply far too small for the size. The young woman did her best, but there were simply too many tables for her to handle.

We ate in the mustard room for the second time and it was delicious again. We had, among other things, chestnut soup, mustard schnitzel and salad with chicken, mango mustard ice cream and delicious local beer. The service was nice and the atmosphere was quite nice. A big plus: dogs are allowed. We'll definitely come back.

Overall okay. Prices are too expensive, but you can tolerate that during the Christmas season. What's not possible is that we had to wait an hour for the first drinks and another 45 minutes for the food. I felt sorry for the two girls who served the drink. It definitely wasn't because of them. We can't understand how such a small team can manage everything at Christmas. Since the food couldn't make up for everything, that was probably the last time.

The food here was an absolute disaster, I strongly do not recommend it. We had two types of soup and one main course and everything tasted like it came from a station stand. The waitress was trying to manage a full restaurant when the town was filled with Advent tourists. A big disappointment for us for the money. For €40, we would eat like royalty.

We went here without a reservation and were given a table in a separate, shared room. At first it was ok, but later a slightly larger group came into the separated area and it got very, very loud. Otherwise everything was great, the service was very friendly and the food was very good.

Too long waiting times for the drinks, half an hour until we had the drinks. The food was so-so. It didn't taste good and the waiting time was also very long. The duck was very tough, you could hardly cut it, let alone chew it. The waiter was in a bad mood the whole evening and the guests noticed it. It was noticeable that the workforce had changed and was overloaded.

Mustard is actually the program. Despite the fact that I'm not a huge mustard fan, the schnitzel I had was really tasty. My wife's Bratwurstburger looked great and was equally delicious. Can recommend the restaurant!
