Muku in Frankfurt am Main

I’ve been going to Muku multiple times already and this time it was on my birthday. They set up a “Happy Birthday” decoration on the wall and are generally very kind and professional. I love the food in Muku. It is by far the best Japanese food I’ve ever tasted in Europe. I’ve been to Duesseldorf and other places but I really love Muku’s authentic food options and quality. Later on, they made a free Polaroid photograph of us and gave it to us at the end of our evening. It was the best birthday ever! The service is great and the food is tasty. My favourite dish there is the ramen you dip into the savoury broth! I really recommend going here if you enjoy fine dining experiences and authentic Japanese cuisine.

Good service, but the taste of the food is average, not worth the price.

A small bowl of ramen with barely any toppings and very firm chashu. I think a hard-boiled egg (you can't taste that it's pickled) for €2.5 is excessive. The grape spritzer was very tasty.

Wow Muku, what a great restaurant you are. Your decor is simple but cozy with subtle music. The service was very nice, helpful and giving advice. And the food is a delight. The grilled beef tongue is so tender that it melts. The karage is nice and crispy with its own breading. And the ramen is just great. The noodles are firm to the bite and the soup is nice and mild and strong. Dessert delicious. It definitely won't be my last visit.

Food was 10/10…I let the pictures speak for itself…We were in Frankfurt for a night and wanted to try one of the best Japanese restaurant in town… and we were not disappointed 🤩 Waitresses were so so, they were condescending and asked if we knew what sake was and kept reminding us that it’s not kid friendly because of small portions I think we know how fine dining works and anyone who steps in this restaurant would know it’s an upscale place 🤣 we bring our kids with us because we are teaching them to develop sophisticated palate and also to expose them to gourmet food…We are a family who travels the world to experience great food 😍

Highly recommended! I could eat Furry Furry Man every day. They are constantly coming up with something new to do with the starters and we have always enjoyed it! Whoever of friends and family visits us in Frankfurt: A visit to Muku is a must. The service is simply unbeatable, always friendly, even when the crowds are very high. Here you can just tell how much love and eye for detail the restaurant is run with! ❤️

Prices are a bit higher but the success proves you right. Everything is prepared with precision and love down to the last detail and every dish is prepared to perfection and freshness - and that is reflected in the price. You can also dare to try unusual dishes and the presentation is second to none. The waitresses are all incredibly friendly and accommodating, you just feel comfortable and in good hands and if you have any questions they will be happy to help you. But be sure to reserve!! Otherwise it is actually impossible to get a table. Thanks to the updated reservation concept, it is now easier to call there.

Best ramen I’ve tried in Germany and I’ve been to quite a few ramen places in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Their tonkotsu broth is just the best, has a great depth of flavor and a great taste to it. What blows me away is the charsiu: it was cooked just right and has an irresistible smoky taste to it, very very delicious. Staffs are nice. Downside is portion size of broth and the charsiu is a bit small.

The starters are very expensive for what you get: we had black edame, radish and summer rolls as starters. The few soybeans were seasoned with black pepper, but nothing special, there were maybe 20 beans on the plate, asking €8 for that is cheeky. The radish wasn't anything special either, the 10 thin slices can be made very easily at home. We wanted more sophistication for the prices. The summer rolls were 2 pieces because they were simply halved. One part (with fish) had no sauce in it, the other part with chicken did. What's that supposed to mean? And paying €16 for it is really a joke. The frames as the main portion were once very good, my husband had the light broth. I had the creamy broth and unfortunately I have to say I couldn't eat it. It had such a strong pigsty smell that I couldn't eat it. This is of course a matter of taste, but I would have liked the service to prepare you for it. We wouldn't come back because there were too many things that bothered us and we were missing the highlight or taste explosions when you're the best restaurant in Germany.

A shop that looks inconspicuous from the outside turns out to be an insider tip. From the sake to the tapas to the delicious ramen soup, it's a real treat for body and soul. The friendly staff reads your every wish and is very accommodating and, above all, personable. Gladly again at any time!

Update: Muku can now be reached by phone again (see website) and we were able to try it out. ***** After countless attempts to make a reservation by phone, I gave up. During opening hours only the tape runs... from 10pm, as recommended on the website, only the tape... Reservation service is unfortunately underground but maybe you don't need it (anymore).

Really excellent for getting an impression of Japanese cuisine. Price performance is just as good as good service and a friendly team. We were in a large group and the food came quickly. The rest you can clearly see from the pictures that it is a really great experience. Greetings to the team

The food, the staff, the cleanliness, everything was perfect! I was impressed by the flavor of the soup stock and the menu, which was similar to what you would find at an elegant restaurant in Japan. I would like to come back to try other menu items other than the grilled eggplant dip, chicken liver sashimi, sashimi (hamachi, salmon kombu sushi), and ramen that I ordered this time. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

A great, holistic, culinary experience. I love the concept because it's just fun to share food. Every plate was convincing, the cucumbers were one of the best. I could only fill myself up with the small dishes, of which there is a very large and good selection. The ramen was also extremely good, but the otsumami left a lasting impression on me. The drinks menu is really great, especially very good non-alcoholic drinks. The recommended sake was also great. In general the service was very to the point, very friendly and professional. We felt very welcome and are already looking forward to our next visit. I would be happy if there were a few more vegetarian options, but the current selection is excellent.

Best Japanese restaurant so far. Friendly staffs. Fresh ingredients (fish, foie gras, etc), also very tasty soup for ramen. You can also enjoy various types of sake here.

I would give this place triple five stars if I could! What a wonderful dining experience from the start to end. We first came here a year ago and blown away by their food. Back again a year later on our way to Heidelberg. We made reservations for both weekends while transitioning through. We can’t wait to come back! Making a reservation on your own as a foreigner can be hard but we asked our hotel concierge and was successful. Everything was delicious but a few most memorable dishes were grilled eel, bluefin tuna with raw egg, and grilled eggplant. Of course you have to end the meal with a nice bowl of ramen. All goes well with sake. 😀

The best Japanese in Frankfurt and certainly one of the best in Germany. The sister restaurant is in Yokohama/Japan, the chefs and staff are all Japanese or foreigners who have lived in Japan. All dishes are authentic and at the highest level, especially the ramen. Often there is no chance without a reservation. But that speaks volumes.

Wir haben vor ein paar Tagen am Abend da gegessen. Einer von den Servicepersonal hat uns am Tisch über das Abendsmenü mit 3 Gang Menü empfohlen. Das Menü enthält 2 Vorspeisen. 1 warmes und 1 kaltes Gericht. Das Hauptgericht ist Ramen. Beim Nachtisch gibt es auch ein Glass japanischen Alkohol. Wir haben höflich das ganze Menü abgelehnt und entschieden für die warme Vorspeise, Ramen und kein Alkohol oder Nachtisch. Bei der Bezahlung wollte ich eine Reservierung für die Woche darauf. Dieselbe Person, die uns am Tisch das Menü vorgeschlagen hat, hat zu uns gesagt:“ Wir nehmen keine Reservierung auf, wenn der kein Abendmenü annimmt!!!“. Wir fragen uns, was ist das für eine Philosophie des Restaurants. Wollen sie nur bestimmte Gäste bedienen? Wissen die nicht, dass es auch andere bessere japanische Restaurants in Frankfurt und Umgebung gibt ??? Wir waren 2 Mal da gewesen aber das war auch das letzte Mal für uns.

Best Ramen I have ever had in Germany 🍜 very rich broth. The appetizers, all perfect. The ebimayo is a must try. Highly recommended and we will come back every time we visit Frankfurt

I ate an excellent gourmet liver sashimi. The karaage and ramen were also very good. The staff was really nice. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio was also okay. In between I got an asparagus salad with grated fish for free. If you are looking for good Japanese cuisine, Muku is a good address. I will certainly come again.

While the food quality was good, the rations were extremely small for the price you pay. 16 euros for a small bowl of ramen that only has ONE SLIM piece of meat is too much, also compared to the other ramen place in the city where for that price you get really nice ramens. We had a booking for one hour and a half and while it's true that we went a bit over the time, it was mainly because they took time to serve us and then they hurried us a lot to finish the dessert. The place is nice overall, but I wouldn't go back...

- The food is incredibly delicious and authentic (especially the salmon and tuna sashimi), and the service is first class - a nice and attentive service, who even took a Polaroid of us with the in-house camera as a souvenir because we were there on my birthday - At the end, we were given flowers from the owner for our birthday as we were leaving, a very, very nice gesture. A ramen shop that's not a ramen shop. A stylish ramen shop run by an owner from Yamanashi. There's a lot of attention to detail in every part of the tableware and presentation, and if there was a restaurant like this in Japan, I'd love to go there. The wife of a wine sommelier was also present, and the selection was excellent.

cold ramen noodles and cold chashu was served in a bowl separate from the warm broth. after mixing the contents of two bowls the resulting ramen was cold. that is not a smart way of serving ramen!

Not recommended. The soup is too flavorful and greasy. After eating, my throat felt extremely dry and my stomach felt extremely heavy. Please don't do it again.

The food is very good, although in my opinion the price-performance ratio is not right. For the price it's not good enough. The piece of pork in the ramen was super chewy. Thin slices of radish marinated in beetroot juice for 8 euros don't work either. Personally, I didn't like the reaction to us having food packed. Why is it offered if the service then reacts insultingly. My partner paid and the waitress looked at me the whole time. Either something cultural that I don't understand or borderline unfriendly. The quality of the food and also the good service, except at the end, allow a rating of just 4 stars, with a tendency towards 3 rather than 5 stars.

The menu and atmosphere of the restaurant have changed much more upscale than I came 5 years ago. In particular, the menu has a wide variety of dishes, and it is a real Japanese restaurant, with ramen as one of the last meals. I was able to enjoy my meal even though I was alone. Both the quality and the service were excellent. I had a delicious Japanese meal before leaving. Thank you for the meal.

Very pricy japanese restaurant that lives up to the expectations. Besides Ramen this place offers a variety of different food and drinks. The interior is relatively simple but elegant. Walters are nice and attentive, as far as I could see all staff are Japanese speaking fluent german. We made a reservation 2 days in advance for a saturday evening. Had to try a few times until someone picked up the phone. Reservation is mandatory, there is no chance to get a table without. The place offer no parking space and bigger parking lots are also not nearby, so it is advised to come by train, bus or foot. Our highlights that evening were the maguro sashimi (raw sliced tuna), wagyu steak (A5, which is the highest grade), the gyutan (beef tongue) and of course the ramen. If you want to experience high class authentic japanese food, Muku is definitely a top choice. 日本食を恋しくなった日本の方にもおすすめの店です。

So much more than simply a ramen place. Everything here is of highest quality and absolutely de-li-cious. I would come back here a thousand times and will recommend it to every friend visiting Frankfurt! A piece of Japanese prefection in the middle of Germany ✨

Disturbed waitress who tries to push a particular menu on the clients and not to convey what would be the best match in terms of expectations for the clients. Every time we ordered something that she was not expecting, she would grimace. I have never known where this kind of pseudo-confidence is coming from.

I haven't had such good Japanese food since my vacation in Japan. The taste and quality of the dishes are excellent, which explains the high price.

Really friendly service. Ramen (excellent) and dessert are good value for money, the tapas only very selectively so. Some are grossly overpriced. Food quality top. Nice atmosphere, very young crowd. Avoid the untreated all-nature wines (all their wines at this time are), better to drink sake. Overall, nice experience but need to know what to get, there are some pitfalls in terms of price/quality/quantity ratio in the menu to be avoided . Weird they don’t have a vegetarian ramen version on menu, given they really can do great broths

After recommendations from various sources, I came here to see how the chain from Japan performs here. People talked about the “best ramen in Germany” and “it tastes just like in Japan”. It was only possible to reserve a table two weeks in advance, so we went into the restaurant with high expectations. Two bowls of pasta, a few tapas, a total of €80 for two people for lunch. Pretty salty. It is indeed of very good quality (respect for the cuisine) but you can now find much cheaper and comparable quality ramen in Frankfurt and the surrounding area. The quality of the tapas is also good, but there too: if you have enough money, go ahead. Otherwise, as with ramen, there are alternatives with similar quality

Best Ramen in Frankfurt by a big margin. They also serve amazing small Japanese dishes that change regularly. Tuna is really fresh and tasty and meat is soft and juicy. They also surround you with Japanese hospitality the moment you enter. Yes, it is quite hard to get the table. For me, it helps to call on weekdays during or after lunch time. They also post on instagram when they accept bookings. I still hope that this can be changed at some point.

This one star is not due to the menu, but table reservation is impossible. Almost impossible by phone!

Finally found an authentic Japanese restaurant. The fish is fresh and the desserts are classic. The ramen soup is very rich and delicious, and the texture of the noodles is very smooth and elastic. It tastes better than Japanese Ichiran. The roasted beef tongue and chicken kidney are very tender and tasty. Japanese beer is delicious. When homesickness strikes, you have to eat. It is currently the best Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt. There is no other choice in this room.

Ich war zum Lunch dort (keine Reservierung für das Lunch, am besten 5-10 Minuten vorher da sein, sonst muss man anstehen) und habe die Tonkotsu Ramen mit Ei und das Toro Sashimi gegessen, beides war unglaublich lecker. Zu beiden Gerichten habe ich dazu noch ein Glas Sake getrunken, mit der ausführlichen Beschreibung der Sake Arten bin ich als nicht-Kenner sehr gut zu recht gekommen. Die Bedienungen waren auch sehr zuvorkommend :D. Alles in allem fühlt man sich wie in einem wundervollen Paralleluniversum, ich kann das Restautant nur empfehlen!

The ebi tempura and ramen had very good taste and the atmosphere is very cozy.

It was a very nice experience, I went with a Japanese friend and her daughter, the three of us ate Ramen, they were delicious 😋 the broth had a lot of incredible flavor, I had never tasted anything so aromatic and delicate. A friend recommended Muku, Authentic Japanese Restaurant to us. It is true! We came by twice but couldn't get a table, too many guests. It is better to reserve online a few days earlier. The food is delicious.

Very high quality and authentic ramen that I've never seen nor expected in Germany. The "Muku ramen" is "ie-kei(家系)" ramen. A drawback is the very high price of the dishes.

My only caveat is, that reservation is almost a requirement even if they don‘t give out one for lunchtime. Otherwise perfect on every aspect.

豚骨ラーメンと無垢ラーメンを頼みました。 個人的には豚骨が美味しかったです。 日本で食べるような濃厚スープと細麺です。 ボリュームは少なめなので、他にも飲んで食べてシメにラーメンするのにちょうど良い量かと思いました。 日曜日お昼時に伺って1時間くらい待ちましたが、店員さんの接客が丁寧でサービス砂漠のドイツで久々に日本にいるかのようなサービスを受けれて嬉しかったです。

味はいいと思うし人気があるので接待でよく使いますが、価格帯を加味すると過大評価されすぎではと思う。 さらに電話でしか予約がとれない上になかなか電話に出ないなど、問題がある。人気があり強気な態度でもやっていけるのはわかるが、電話に出てくれないのでは急なキャンセルや変更・遅刻などの連絡もできずに困る。 忙しくて電話を受けられないのであれば、利用客、従業員双方のためにもせめてオープンテーブルなどのWeb予約サービスを利用すべきではないだろうか。

Ramen sind gut. Aber sehr kleine Portion. Für 20€ bin ich leider nicht satt geworden. Versuchen so mehr tapas zu verkaufen.

Food was very good. We went for lunch and there was still a wait list.

평일 이른 저녁에 우연히 지나다 본 일식집. 문이 닫혀있고, 예약이 마감되어 더이상 손님을 못 받는다는 안내문이 븥어 있었습니다. 다음날 12시 정각에 전화로 저녁식사 예약을 하려 했으나, 몇주 뒤까지 예약이 꽉차 있다고 하더군요. 그러나 점심 때는 선착순으로 손님을 받는다고..1시 30반까지 오면 식사가 가능하다고 하여 부랴부랴 1시10분에 도착. 문은 굳게 닫혀있고, 워이팅 리스트 적는 종이가 있더군요. 조마조마하는 마음으로 이름을 적고 5분 정도 뒤에 들어 갈 수 있었습니다. 라면가게에 타파스라고 아담한 요리가 제공 되는데, 점심특선으로 스시덮밥, 참치회와 새우마요, 그리고 돈코츠 라면을 매운맛 추가하여 시켰습니다. 음료로는 낮이라 백포도쥬스. 선어회의 담백하고도 깔끔한 맛, 국물이 찐한 하면, 고슬밥이 맛깔나는 덮밥까지... 저녁에 왜 예약이 꽉차있고 점심때도 줄서서 먹는 지 알겠더라구요. 직원들은 또 얼마나 친절한 지 일본에 와 있는 줄 알았습니다. 일주일 전 요코하마에서 먹은 감동이 독일 출장까지 이어지는 듯 했어요. 학회 둘째날 세째날도 점심식사는 무쿠에서 해결했습니다. 11:45분 부터 줄 서기 시작하고, 12시에 오면 30분 정도 기다려야 했습니다. 참치회는 기본으로 시키고 타파스를 안 먹은 거 하나씩 시켜서 먹었습니다. 라면도 종류별로 먹어 봤는데, 정말 다 맛있었어요. 한국으로 돌아오는 라운지에서 만난 또 다른 무쿠 닭고기 카레도 예술이었어요. 출장오신 분들은 점심 때 꼭 가보시길 강추합니다.

久しぶりに本物のラーメンを食べました 無垢ラーメンは濃いのにしつこくなくて最高です 山梨の方も横浜博物館のも食べましたが、どこもレベル高いので本当におすすめです👍👍👍

Expensive for the serving size of the food. I got tonkotsu and it literally just came with noodles and 2 small pieces of pork. No other condiments for €14.

The best restaurant in Frankfurt!

美味しいラーメン屋、かつ居酒屋。無垢ラーメンは家系?と言っていいのかな？つけ麺も◯。 刺身、牡蠣、肉料理、創作和食おつまみ、なんでも美味しい。ビールも美味しいし日本酒を飲んでも良い。ドイツで少し恋しいハイボールもある。記念日使いで毎年お世話になってます。予約は電話で。なかなか繋がらないけど、折り返してくれることもあり（笑顔）

Es war ein sehr schöner Abend. Das Essen war richtig gut. Der Service war ebenso sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich freue mich auf das nächste mal.

Eins der besten japanischen Restaurants in ganz Hessen. Authentisches Essen mit viel Geschmack aufgebaut dazu sind die Service Mitarbeiterinnnen absolut hilfsbereit, freundlich und super lieb. Eins meiner Lieblinsgerichten dort ist der Unagi (gegrillte Aal). Ein absolutes must have, wenn man dort essen geht.

This superb little Japanese gem in Sachsenhausen deserves the highest praise. Do not just concentrate on the outstanding Ramen. Try all the hot and cold starters, they call them tappas. Finest ingredients, best way to prepare them, you get a truly amazing fare of wonderful Japanese dishes, which are simply delicious! A very special mention deserve the more than fair prices. Great organic wines and a special sake menu complement the truly remarkable experience! Must reserve! If you like Asian food, do not leave Frankfurt without having been there! This place is almost too good to be true! It is certainly worth the trip to Frankfurt, just to have dinner at Muku! Having been back many times! They get better a better. In all honesty, Muku deserves a Michelin Star! For me one of the very top Japanese places in Frankfurt! You must make a reservation!

Had an incredible dinner experience at Muku ! The food was absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere was on point. We tried Muku Ramen , Furi Furi Men , Karage , Prawns tempura and mores.. No doubt, this is the best Japanese restaurant in Frankfurt. Every dish we tried was a taste sensation. Big shoutout to the wonderful ambiance and impeccable service. Highly recommended !!

Amazingly delicious food and very good hospitality. The food was better than what I had tasted in Japan, and one of the best meals I have had all year. Would definitely recommend making a reservation, or come before opening time and hope to get a table (we were very lucky to have done this).

Meiner Meinung nach der beste Ramen in Deutschland. Ich komme schon seit Jahren zu Muku und wurde noch nie enttäuscht. Ich war schon 10 mal in Japan und bin ein großer Ramen Fan und auch in Japan ist so ein guter Ramen nicht selbstverständlich. Die Portionen sind nicht die größten, aber die Qualität ist Super! Leider schwer per Telefon durchzukommen. Die Bedienung ist Japan-typisch zurückhaltend, für mich völlig OK. Es sind auch viele Japaner unter den Kunden, ein gutes Zeichen! Als Dessert empfehle ich "Annindofu", Mandelgelee aus Milch mit Yuzu-Soße - ein Traum!

Dinner at Muku was one of the best meals I had in a long time! I went there without any expectations as I thought it’s probably just another ramen restaurant. Reserved a table for 4, ( I really had to deduct one star since it was so difficult to reach someone there, after my 36 calls, fortunately a lady answered) we had the table at the window. The interior was so nice, warm and elegance. Service was really friendly and attentive. Food was fantastic! We were very satisfied with all our dishes what we ordered especially the karaage, just a simple menu but the deep fried chicken was just perfect, the juiciness, tenderness and the taste, Wow! The ramen was really really good. And before we left it was raining they even gave us the umbrellas! That’s why I adore Japanese people because of their kindness. Of course we will bring them back on the next visit ;) We are looking forward to come back again and hopefully it won’t be that difficult to reach someone on the phone 😂

I’m quite a picky eater and the Ramen here was fantastic, the broth was equal to none. Nice environment, superb service. Delicious low sugar and tasty green tea ice cream for dessert. Can’t wait to go back.

どうしても行きたかったラーメン屋さん オランダから近いのに休み合わず行けてなかったラーメン屋さん 無垢ラーメンとお刺身、つぶ貝を注文 居酒屋で飲んでラーメン屋で〆が一箇所で味わえます＾＾ とても美味しかった、また行きます！

Nachdem ich in hunderten von authentischen und weniger authentischen japanischen Restaurants gegessen habe, kann ich sagen, dass dies das beste japanische Restaurant in Deutschland ist. Ob es sich um ein saisonales Menü, Thunfisch mit Rogen, Seeteufelleber, Garnelen-Tempura usw. handelt, jedes einzelne davon ist authentisch, mit Herz, hervorragend gewürzt und frisch zubereitet. Die Ramen waren natürlich das Beste vom Besten, die Brühe war sehr geschmackvoll und die Nudeln waren fest und frisch, so authentisch und schmackhaft habe ich Ramen nur in Japan gegessen. Die Sake karte ist ebenfalls ausgezeichnet, sehr große Auswahl an Sake, jede Geschmacksrichtung kann hier gefunden werden. Reservierungen sind in der Tat sehr schwierig, es gibt kein Online-Buchungssystem und man muss immer wieder anrufen (manchmal braucht es Dutzende von Versuchen), aber es lohnt sich!

it is unfortunate that the service for the reservation is so bad. The food is fine but the new tapas concept is not well suited to such a rusty venue. Probably the best Ramen in Frankfurt. The soups are fresh with the right quantity and very good quality meat. Make sure you try some of the appetizers with fish and enjoy the evening with a fireball and some good sake!

Unbeschreiblich exzellente Ramen, wenn man es schafft einen Tisch zu ergattern!!! Andere Mitbewerber sollten sich hier was Service angeht mehrere Scheiben abschneiden, denn es ist vorbildlich!!! Es ist eine besondere Art von Gastronomie!!! Hut ab!!!

Muku to japońska restauracja z charakterem. Lepiej zrobić rezerwacje . Pyszne przystawki w dużym wyborze. Uwaga na ramen.Duże porcje i bardzo dobre. Sympatyczna obsługa. Polecamy.

Wir haben über Wochen versucht über alle Kontaktmöglichkeiten zu Reservieren. Keine Möglichkeit! No go.

Super lecker. Oft sehr voll und man muss vor allem zur mittags- und Abendzeit warten. Das Essen ist sehr authentisch und sehr lecker. Fast wie in Japan

Sehr gutes Preis- / Leistungsverhältnis für die gebotene Qualität und den exzellenten Service! Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und wurden bei der Wahl der Speisen und Getränke bestens beraten. Am liebsten hätten wir die gesamte Speisekarte bestellt - von den japanischen Tapas bis zu den Ramen war alles perfekt. Wir werden sicherlich wiederkommen.

Un restaurante estupendo para comer ramen y probar los distintos tipos de sake que tienen en la carta. Solo tiene un inconveniente para mi: el Ambiente es un poco ruidoso, lo que dificulta mantener una conversación. Por lo demás, creo que es un restaurante que hay que visitar si te gusta el ramen 😉

虽然拉面分量不多，但是味道很棒～ 刺生也 很新鲜，推荐！和牛很薄，很像寿喜锅的味道，烤牛舌很香，也超好吃
