I visited with a guest from Japan. Recently, this restaurant has become famous for being difficult to get a reservation at, but the food and drinks were of the highest quality. The menu, which includes dishes such as low-temperature cooked chicken liver sashimi, tuna and caviar hand-rolled sushi, and porcini mushroom ohitashi, are so delicious that just hearing the name of the menu makes me feel happy. I also thought the extensive selection of sake was wonderful. On this day, we had Hakurakusei, which went perfectly with the high-quality snacks. The ramen we finished off with was also a specialty, and we had a wonderful time.

Very good place for Japanese food in Frankfurt. Tapas portions are generous so keep that in mind as ordering a ramen seems to be a must for a dinner reservation.

The restaurant is really beautiful and service is very lovely!⭐ Ramen is okay. Not my cup of tea, since I prefer more normal to al dente noodles (kansetsu or futsuu) and more meat on my Tonkotsu Ramen. I know you can add meat, but think for the price, only one piece is a bit disappointing :(. I have been there twice so I got to try many different options. In my opinion it's too overpriced for what it delivers and would opt for other Ramen restaurants in the city.

For dinner, we enjoyed snacks and drinks, finishing with ramen. Even for those who can't handle alcohol, there were plenty of drinks to go with the food, including non-alcoholic plum wine and yuzu wine. In addition to the regular menu, there were also many seasonal dishes made with seasonal ingredients. The sea urchin and caviar hand roll was very sweet and delicious. The porcini mushroom tempura was also very crispy and exquisite. The staff were also very kind and explained about sake to us, and served us sake that perfectly matched each dish. The ramen we finished with was also delicious, and the sake they recommended to go with the mixed noodles was a natural sake unlike anything I'd ever tried before. I highly recommend this place if you want to eat delicious Japanese food in Germany! Reservations are required for dinner. They are available by phone every Wednesday from 12:00-14:00.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and relaxing. I ordered tonkotsu ramen. It was piping hot, and the thin noodles were perfectly coated in the soup - it was absolutely delicious. The individual dishes are a little pricey, but the selection is plentiful and reminds me of a Japanese izakaya.

I first visited Muku 6-7 years ago, and even then, I was completely captivated by the ramen – that intense umami flavor has stayed with me all these years. So, it was a very special experience for me to return this May and eat here again today. What can I say: The quality is simply as amazing as ever! Every appetizer was a real treat, and the ramen was just as delicious and authentic as ever. Today I also tried dessert and a sake tasting for the first time – both were a wonderful addition to the menu and rounded off the evening perfectly. You can feel the attention to detail and passion for Japanese cuisine in every dish. The ambiance is cozy, the service warm, and the overall package always makes you feel like you're on a little culinary journey to Japan. I highly recommend Muku and it remains one of the best addresses for authentic Japanese cuisine in Germany. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

It was the best ramen I had in Germany! I will definitely go back if I go to Frankfurt. Not only was the food delicious, but the atmosphere of the restaurant, with its stylish izakaya or bistro-like appearance, and the tableware, cutlery, and interior design all seemed to be very well thought out. Everything was wonderful. Of course, I want to go back to try the food, but I also want to experience the restaurant. I'll definitely be back!

My Japanese friends call it the best ramen in Germany, and I don't think it's an exaggeration. The broth is clearly similar to what you'd find in Japan, though it's a bit thicker and saltier. For soup lovers, it might be too salty. Side dishes like the seafood donburi are instantly recognizable as rich, fatty fish. The fried chicken is also incredibly delicious; it's not frozen chicken, but the skin perfectly envelops the meat and locks in the juices. Dinner is by reservation only, and only set meals are available. Those not from Frankfurt need to make reservations a week in advance. They only accept phone reservations on Wednesdays at noon. You might have to wait in line for lunch, but the tables turn over quickly and aren't overly crowded, so you don't have to wait too long.

The ramen here is better than any I've had in Japan. The broth is so incredibly flavorful, I definitely need to come here more often. The tuna sashimi was excellent!

Wow Muku, what a great restaurant you are. Your decor is simple but cozy, with subtle music. The service is very friendly, helpful, and informative. And the food is a delight. The grilled beef tongue is so tender it melts. The breaded chanterelles are al dente, and the karage is nice and crispy with its own breading. And the ramen is simply fantastic. The noodles are al dente and the soup is nice and mild yet rich. And the homemade salted vanilla ice cream is simply delicious. You do have a high standard of pricing, but it's definitely worth visiting once or twice a year.

The food is really great, but – even for Japanese – the portions are microscopically small and the price is very high.

For dinner, please note both a reservation (Wednesdays between 12 and 2 p.m.) and the dinner customs, which include sake and tapas before the ramen. Those who follow these rules will enjoy a very refined Japanese ambiance with exclusively Japanese staff. The sake is first-class, and the accompanying tapas are always creative and incredibly delicious. As you can see from the photos, we can hardly resist Ebi Mayo. The well-prepared Kirin on tap is a real highlight, something you rarely find in Germany. The ramen is also very convincing at the end of the meal. I'd like to note that Chashu has improved even further between our visits over the past few years. The service is unobtrusive, yet extremely attentive. A restaurant that always offers something new, yet remains familiar.

As a sucker for ramen, I’ve tried pretty much every second ramen place in Germany even Düsseldorf. In Frankfurt-Mainz area I’ve tried every ramen place even the newly opened ones. When I was in Japan I was mainly hunting for ramen from the ranking list called RamenDB. I’ve tried the no 1 ramen in Japan which was literally out of this world (not exaggerating), but I can say that I know what the standard of a good ramen is. Muku is by far the best ramen I’ve had in Germany. My favorite is their Tonkotsu Ramen, even though I usually love Tsukemen more. There is a newly opened ramen in Berlin which I haven’t tried and supposedly resemble Ichiran Japan, however until I try that one, Muku is still the best in Germany. The only downside of it is the portion size of the ramen. It’s pretty small and a bit expensive. But for the quality, I always come back. I also especially love their sashimi rice bowl that they typically suggest before eating the ramen. Again here I know the standard of a good sushi since I’ve tried one of the best tuna sushi in Japan, which was the only time I cried of happiness because of food😅 Anyway, their sashimi bowl is heavenly good for Germany. Their other appetizers never really fail too, but I love their sashimi bowl and ramen the most, and I think it’s the best price-performanc-ratio-wise. Make sure to come 30 mins before their opening time on Saturday for the lunch time, line up and register your name, because they only offer Ramen in the afternoon and you can’t reserve a table for lunch time.

I ate tonkotsu ramen. It's not soft and melting chashu, but it's chewy and chewy like bacon, so it's delicious. The broth is rich, thick, and salty, and it feels like I'm in Japan. I'd like to visit again. If you ask me if it's worth waiting for... I'm willing to wait for about 10 minutes.

Parking is not easy and there are not many seats in the store. But the lady in the store was very helpful! The portion is average, but the flavor is unique. Highly recommend Wagyu beef, pork and oyster siomai (it’s better to just make pork siomai, it is a very traditional northern Chinese taste) and ramen. Especially the ramen, which is surprisingly delicious and tastes like home-made noodles. Per capita is relatively free. If you only eat noodles and side dishes, it should be fine for less than 50 euros; if you eat better, the per capita price will be about 120 euros.

The food was truly incredible. Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. The value for price is very good and there was nothing we could complain about. This is no doubt one of the best Japanese restaurants we have dined in.

It was the perfect ramen. The soup is based on pork bones, but it's not heavy and easy to drink. The noodles are also great! They have just the right amount of firmness, and are just as good as the ramen I eat in Japan! The daily mini rice dish I ordered on the side, marinated seafood rice, was also delicious. It's a little pricey, but it's worth it.

I ate here for the first time. The restaurant has a slightly more exclusive atmosphere and is furnished in a chic, modern style. The wait staff was friendly and the service was quick. The quality of the food is very high and tasty, also corresponding to the prices. Here we come to the only point. The prices are in the upper segment, especially if you order several things including a starter. The portions are a bit smaller. But I would still say a 10/10 and a clear recommendation. The best dinner of my life so far! After finally understanding the concept of the menu, we ordered four tapas - Wagyu Tonnato, Summer Rolls, Steamed Dumplings and the Silken Tofu. The food was prepared quickly and tasted fantastic! As soon as we took the first bite, we felt like we had been transported back to Japan and enjoyed the starters with great pleasure. I have never experienced such a depth of flavor before. For the main course we had Tsukimen and FuriFurimen Ramen, which were of course also very tasty, and for dessert we had the incredibly good salty vanilla ice cream and almond annindofu with yuzu sauce. Just like in Japan, the service was very friendly, German and Japanese were spoken fluently and overall we had a great evening.

Unfortunately not suitable for vegetarians. We ordered two ramens, without any pieces of meat, and were aware that the broth would be pork broth as we also know that from other ramen shops. However, the taste was so pungent and intense that we unfortunately didn't like the ramen. There are no other vegetarian ramen options at the restaurant, which is a shame.

One of my favorite ramen restaurants in the world, and quality is on par with some of the better ramen I’ve had in Japan (and beats a lot of others). Visited 3 years ago in 2021 and again in December 2024, and the food was just as good as I remembered. Ordered the Muku ramen (a mix of chicken and pork bone broths) and the tonkatsu ramen (pork bone broth), and both were so flavorful. One additional aspect that stands out about this restaurant’s ramen is how the noodles actually carry so much of the broth’s flavor. For dessert, ordered the black sesame ice cream (and had actually been looking forward to having this again for a while now). If we had more time, would have loved to order from the more expansive menu. Muku imports high quality sakes, and also offers a wide selection of tapas - done so to emulate how in Japan, there’s a culture of drinking, sharing tapas, and then finishing the night with a hearty bowl of ramen (except now you can do all the above at one establishment). Loved how the tapas are organized on the menu across two axis - level of aroma, and level of richness.

I was scared of the customer service from the Japanese staff, and even after a week, it was still a scary experience, so I'll leave it here. When speaking to the Japanese female clerk (around 30s) with short black hair who handles customers entering the store, please be careful to speak politely. Even now, when I remember how strongly she told me "I know," I was so scared that I couldn't taste the important part of the ramen. Maybe you have to be mentally strong to live in Germany and work in a Japanese environment, but the girlfriend's behavior and attitude were so harsh that I didn't think the ramen tasted good. The store was a popular one. Line up. I'll be waiting a long time. The customer base is 80% Japanese and other local customers. The inside of the store is completely Japanese, with Japanese customers ordering from the staff in Japanese, and the staff speaking to each other in Japanese. The other Japanese clerks who took care of the bill and drinks were kind. I ate pork bone ramen. I think it's actually delicious, but as I said earlier, I couldn't taste it. Unique food concept: SORM(uku), including Sake, Otsumami/starters, and Ramen/main course at the end. Amazing culinary experience, sadly tainted a bit by the dirty walls with spiderwebs, pretty loud atmosphere, and food smell getting into the clothes.

I’ve been going to Muku multiple times already and this time it was on my birthday. They set up a “Happy Birthday” decoration on the wall and are generally very kind and professional. I love the food in Muku. It is by far the best Japanese food I’ve ever tasted in Europe. I’ve been to Duesseldorf and other places but I really love Muku’s authentic food options and quality. Later on, they made a free Polaroid photograph of us and gave it to us at the end of our evening. It was the best birthday ever! The service is great and the food is tasty. My favourite dish there is the ramen you dip into the savoury broth! I really recommend going here if you enjoy fine dining experiences and authentic Japanese cuisine.

A small bowl of ramen with barely any toppings and very firm chashu. I think a hard-boiled egg (you can't taste that it's pickled) for €2.5 is excessive. The grape spritzer was very tasty.

Highly recommended! I could eat Furry Furry Man every day. They are constantly coming up with something new to do with the starters and we have always enjoyed it! Whoever of friends and family visits us in Frankfurt: A visit to Muku is a must. The service is simply unbeatable, always friendly, even when the crowds are very high. Here you can just tell how much love and eye for detail the restaurant is run with! ❤️

Food was 10/10…I let the pictures speak for itself…We were in Frankfurt for a night and wanted to try one of the best Japanese restaurant in town… and we were not disappointed 🤩 Waitresses were so so, they were condescending and asked if we knew what sake was and kept reminding us that it’s not kid friendly because of small portions I think we know how fine dining works and anyone who steps in this restaurant would know it’s an upscale place 🤣 we bring our kids with us because we are teaching them to develop sophisticated palate and also to expose them to gourmet food…We are a family who travels the world to experience great food 😍

Prices are a bit higher but the success proves you right. Everything is prepared with precision and love down to the last detail and every dish is prepared to perfection and freshness - and that is reflected in the price. You can also dare to try unusual dishes and the presentation is second to none. The waitresses are all incredibly friendly and accommodating, you just feel comfortable and in good hands and if you have any questions they will be happy to help you. But be sure to reserve!! Otherwise it is actually impossible to get a table. Thanks to the updated reservation concept, it is now easier to call there.

Best ramen I’ve tried in Germany and I’ve been to quite a few ramen places in Düsseldorf and Berlin. Their tonkotsu broth is just the best, has a great depth of flavor and a great taste to it. What blows me away is the charsiu: it was cooked just right and has an irresistible smoky taste to it, very very delicious. Staffs are nice. Downside is portion size of broth and the charsiu is a bit small.

The starters are very expensive for what you get: we had black edame, radish and summer rolls as starters. The few soybeans were seasoned with black pepper, but nothing special, there were maybe 20 beans on the plate, asking €8 for that is cheeky. The radish wasn't anything special either, the 10 thin slices can be made very easily at home. We wanted more sophistication for the prices. The summer rolls were 2 pieces because they were simply halved. One part (with fish) had no sauce in it, the other part with chicken did. What's that supposed to mean? And paying €16 for it is really a joke. The frames as the main portion were once very good, my husband had the light broth. I had the creamy broth and unfortunately I have to say I couldn't eat it. It had such a strong pigsty smell that I couldn't eat it. This is of course a matter of taste, but I would have liked the service to prepare you for it. We wouldn't come back because there were too many things that bothered us and we were missing the highlight or taste explosions when you're the best restaurant in Germany.

A shop that looks inconspicuous from the outside turns out to be an insider tip. From the sake to the tapas to the delicious ramen soup, it's a real treat for body and soul. The friendly staff reads your every wish and is very accommodating and, above all, personable. Gladly again at any time!

Update: Muku can now be reached by phone again (see website) and we were able to try it out. ***** After countless attempts to make a reservation by phone, I gave up. During opening hours only the tape runs... from 10pm, as recommended on the website, only the tape... Reservation service is unfortunately underground but maybe you don't need it (anymore).

Really excellent for getting an impression of Japanese cuisine. Price performance is just as good as good service and a friendly team. We were in a large group and the food came quickly. The rest you can clearly see from the pictures that it is a really great experience. Greetings to the team

The food, the staff, the cleanliness, everything was perfect! I was impressed by the flavor of the soup stock and the menu, which was similar to what you would find at an elegant restaurant in Japan. I would like to come back to try other menu items other than the grilled eggplant dip, chicken liver sashimi, sashimi (hamachi, salmon kombu sushi), and ramen that I ordered this time. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

A great, holistic, culinary experience. I love the concept because it's just fun to share food. Every plate was convincing, the cucumbers were one of the best. I could only fill myself up with the small dishes, of which there is a very large and good selection. The ramen was also extremely good, but the otsumami left a lasting impression on me. The drinks menu is really great, especially very good non-alcoholic drinks. The recommended sake was also great. In general the service was very to the point, very friendly and professional. We felt very welcome and are already looking forward to our next visit. I would be happy if there were a few more vegetarian options, but the current selection is excellent.

Best Japanese restaurant so far. Friendly staffs. Fresh ingredients (fish, foie gras, etc), also very tasty soup for ramen. You can also enjoy various types of sake here.

The best Japanese in Frankfurt and certainly one of the best in Germany. The sister restaurant is in Yokohama/Japan, the chefs and staff are all Japanese or foreigners who have lived in Japan. All dishes are authentic and at the highest level, especially the ramen. Often there is no chance without a reservation. But that speaks volumes.

I would give this place triple five stars if I could! What a wonderful dining experience from the start to end. We first came here a year ago and blown away by their food. Back again a year later on our way to Heidelberg. We made reservations for both weekends while transitioning through. We can’t wait to come back! Making a reservation on your own as a foreigner can be hard but we asked our hotel concierge and was successful. Everything was delicious but a few most memorable dishes were grilled eel, bluefin tuna with raw egg, and grilled eggplant. Of course you have to end the meal with a nice bowl of ramen. All goes well with sake. 😀

Wir haben vor ein paar Tagen am Abend da gegessen. Einer von den Servicepersonal hat uns am Tisch über das Abendsmenü mit 3 Gang Menü empfohlen. Das Menü enthält 2 Vorspeisen. 1 warmes und 1 kaltes Gericht. Das Hauptgericht ist Ramen. Beim Nachtisch gibt es auch ein Glass japanischen Alkohol. Wir haben höflich das ganze Menü abgelehnt und entschieden für die warme Vorspeise, Ramen und kein Alkohol oder Nachtisch. Bei der Bezahlung wollte ich eine Reservierung für die Woche darauf. Dieselbe Person, die uns am Tisch das Menü vorgeschlagen hat, hat zu uns gesagt:“ Wir nehmen keine Reservierung auf, wenn der kein Abendmenü annimmt!!!“. Wir fragen uns, was ist das für eine Philosophie des Restaurants. Wollen sie nur bestimmte Gäste bedienen? Wissen die nicht, dass es auch andere bessere japanische Restaurants in Frankfurt und Umgebung gibt ??? Wir waren 2 Mal da gewesen aber das war auch das letzte Mal für uns.
