Mondi in Kassel

I had the dubious pleasure of visiting and dining at this establishment today. First, the positive: The staff was mostly friendly and attentive. One exception, however, was one employee who responded to my discreet attempt to gain her attention with a hand gesture with repeated stares and subsequent demonstrative ignorance – behavior I found extremely rude. Now to the crux of the matter – the unfortunately extremely disappointing overall impression: As someone who has dined in upscale dining establishments several times, including Michelin-starred restaurants, today's experience was intolerable in almost every respect. The atmosphere was characterized by an unpleasantly loud volume, and the interior seemed bare, uninspired, and uninviting. The so-called cloth napkin turned out to be a simple white cotton cloth, the quality and feel of which resembled a pet cleaning cloth rather than a suitable catering item. In a restaurant of this price range, I expect high-quality tableware – which, of course, includes an appropriate cloth napkin. One main course included a piece of pork that consisted almost entirely of tendons and fat – inedible. I was forced to discreetly discard it in my napkin. The Adana that was supposedly served was in fact a pork meatball – an unacceptable misrepresentation, as an authentic Adana traditionally consists of lamb. Such a designation is not only misleading, but downright disrespectful to Turkish cuisine. When I pointed out the poor quality of the dish to the waiter, calling it "disastrous," he disappeared into the kitchen and returned with the suggestion that they bring me "a new piece of pork." I declined, gratefully but incredulously. Despite asking for a new napkin – after I had to use the original one due to the inedible dish – I was not given a new one. The final dessert course was also disappointing in terms of taste, fitting seamlessly into the overall negative experience. Any concessions from the restaurant – in the form of an alternative, a gesture of reparation, a drink, or even a discount – were completely absent. I have never experienced such disregard for the guest before. To make matters worse, I was also charged a flat rate for a drink that I neither ordered nor consumed – a circumstance that I find absolutely outrageous. In conclusion: A dining experience that will be remembered negatively in almost every respect. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all – especially considering the standards it clearly sets for itself.

We were completely thrilled with Mondi – from the outstanding cuisine to the atmospheric ambiance to the attentive service, everything was simply perfect. Thank you so much for this wonderful culinary delight, which we will remember fondly.

We're moving from Berlin to Kassel soon and will sorely miss Berlin's culinary scene. The Mondi in Kassel is a true ray of hope! Delicious food, perfect wine pairing, and excellent service! Our 4-year-old daughter was also warmly welcomed and had new taste experiences! We'll definitely be back again in the future!

We were there in 2023 and were guests at the Mondi Restaurant again on August 22, 2025. The Mondi Restaurant presents itself as very lively and open, with the beautiful decor clearly visible despite the lively ambiance. The energy level is noticeable in the place, yet with the right hearing, it's easy to communicate with each other. The extremely warm welcome and the service are consistently very friendly and relaxed, without seeming stiff. One small criticism of the service would be that the explanations of the individual courses occasionally lacked a common thread, making some transitions a bit clunky. About the menu: It's commendable that the menus change every two weeks, which ensures variety and freshness. The value for money is very good, and all courses are beautifully presented. The following dishes were particularly noteworthy in this round: Kohlrabi / Kimchi / Trout Potato / Zucchini / Honey Trout / Tomato / Marigold Signature Dish: Caviar / Koji / Hazelnut Cucumber / Angostura / Blackberry In our opinion, these dishes were of Michelin-star quality and left a lasting impression. The only criticism: About 1.5 hours after opening, one additional dish was already sold out, which was unfortunate. We wish Mondi all the best and look forward to our next visit to Kassel. An absolute recommendation for anyone looking for something extraordinary. One explosion of flavor after another. Absolutely unique dishes and soooo delicious. Super friendly and attentive service, always with a smile. The dog was welcome. I would give it more stars.

We had a wonderful evening at Mondi. The service was super friendly, everyone had a great time, and the food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the eggplant course and the plum sorbet for dessert. Highly recommended for special occasions and moments.

Mondi offers a 10-course menu of a very high standard for an absolutely top-notch price. This alone merits 5 stars. A clear recommendation for anyone who has always wanted to try fine dining!

We were at Mondi yesterday for the 13-course menu – and it was a true experience. The welcome was warm, and the ambiance inside and out was very stylish and comfortable. Each course was a surprise in terms of taste – varied, creative, and perfectly matched. What's particularly nice is that great emphasis is placed on regional ingredients, which you can not only taste but also feel. The wine pairing was excellent – with great expertise and passion from the sommelier. The service was friendly, attentive, and pleasantly relaxed – using informal address works well here and immediately creates a relaxed atmosphere. My only minor criticism: The evening stretched over about four hours – which was perfectly fine for us, but you should allow yourself plenty of time. All in all: A culinary experience with personality and attitude – highly recommended!

Absolutely wow...we had an amazing evening and dinner here. I stumbled across this place in preparation for a business dinner and made a reservation. The tasting menu was stunning. While the amuse was ok, the veal ravioli and beef consommee, the trout, grilled chicken breast, steak tartar and more were fantastic. I've never had caper leafs anywhere in my life, and OMG were they good om that tartare. Also, loved the fresh, friendly and casual service and the knowledge of their wine menu. Great selection of German wines at decent prices. I will for sure be back. It was such a flight to dine here.

I had a very spontaneous meal with my husband at Mondi on Saturday because I said to my husband that I would like to go out to eat again, but I don't feel like eating something that I later think I could have done better myself at home :-) I really enjoy cooking myself and as a vegetarian I have limited options in Kassel and I have to say: This restaurant is WORTH IT! If you want to eat creative, extraordinary, regional and seasonal dishes, where EVERYTHING is an absolute poem in terms of taste and visuals, with or without meat/fish and in a relaxed, absolutely cozy atmosphere, then go to Mondi! From the home-baked bread with home-made butter (I could have sat there :-)) to small bites with a special touch to three spagel sticks, each prepared a little differently (fried spagel is awesome!) to the dessert, where beetroot meets sorbet and cream puffs with caramel chocolate enchant, I was thoroughly impressed. And the service couldn't be nicer and more attentive - we hadn't planned much time because it was spontaneous and we wanted to go to the cinema - with 9 courses you can bring your own time. The main thing here is that YOU spend a wonderful evening with absolutely delicious, upscale food - absolutely worth every cent! In Hamburg you would pay twice as much for it... We'll be back and would highly recommend - thank you for the wonderful evening!

You don't do it every week, but it's still something special. And with 10 courses, including all the bread you want, you'll definitely be full.

You don't eat here, it's more of a journey of taste and aroma. The service was relaxed, attentive and, in short, simply brilliant. The nice young lady took great care of us and looked after us, from the Corona certificate check to the farewell. My husband and I stayed at Mondi for our 10th anniversary. I came across this restaurant by chance and was not disappointed. A very successful evening, with a great menu and very nice staff. My allergy was addressed immediately and I was given a very good alternative! What particularly impressed me was the special wine announcement after each course. Not only did we have delicious wine, but we also learned something at the same time. We will definitely come back!

For two on 8.3.25. It wasn't the first visit. This time we didn't find the food so exciting. The trout and the land prawn tartare were perfect. The three celery slices were so flat and dominant that there was no room left for the accompanying ingredients to taste. Two very sweet desserts were a bit overkill; A cheese course would have suited me better for one of them.

Ja, günstig ist ein Besuch im Mondi gewiss nicht, aber dafür bekommt man einiges geboten. Allein das fortwährend gereichte (und sich angesichts der Portionsgrößen auch als Sättigungsgrundlage empfehlend) Brot ist schon eine Empfehlung. Jeder Gang, so soll es sein, bot ein kulinarisches Erlebnis. Abwechslungsreich und getragen von der hohen Qualität der Zutaten. Neben dem hervorragenden Nachtisch muss der Sellerie betont werden: Der hohen Kochkunst ist es zu verdanken, dass aus einer einfachen Zutat ein kleines Kunstwerk geschaffen wurde. Beeindruckend! Auch der Zusatzgang mit Kaviar Fulda war ein Highlight. Alles in allem ein toller, erlebnisreicher Abend. Weiterempfehlung!

Totally overpriced!!! Food name partly French? If a lot is said, only half of it is understood. My husband didn't want fish, there was no alternative, half empty plate brought. The dessert, although it was repeated three times that you couldn't eat it, still stood on the table and claimed that these ingredients were not in the dessert. There was no alternative either, you still got the full price.

We got to know food in a completely new way at Mondi. A completely well-rounded evening. Service is top, the ambience is pleasantly understated, the view into the kitchen (which you can neither smell nor hear, however that works when you're under the most stress) and of course the food. Small works of art on the plate (and in the mouth). We were absolutely thrilled.

To describe the many positive impressions here would go beyond the scope. Just this much: Perfect down to the smallest detail, star level without being aloof. We'll be back. Thanks to the team, which conveys a great symbiosis.

This evening was the second attempt. The ambience was very good, the service had its problems, the bread wasn't refilled and questions about the food were answered unanswered. Unfortunately, I found the food to be too expensive for what was on offer. The portions were very clear so that you could still eat something from the standard menu without any problems. At a price of €75 and if I'm supposed to eat my fill of bread and butter, it's simply too expensive. The individual courses themselves were of good quality, although in my opinion not everything that is said comes across in terms of taste. My wife told me at home that she was still hungry, which I found to be a shame because I had chosen the restaurant for my wedding anniversary.

Food that supposedly doesn't go together is prepared in such a way that you experience a sensational taste explosion. Even foods that you don't really like are delicious here! The wine pairing is always on point! The prices are absolutely justified! Absolute recommendation!

Classy, ​​personal, friendly, delicious, something very special We were at Mondi for our wedding anniversary and are still talking about it days later. We were there promptly at 6 p.m. and were “recognized”. “Oh, we spoke on the phone earlier,” said the friendly waitress. And we had free choice of table. Then we were advised about the menu. We took everything that was on the menu - including the additional dishes - and the accompanying drinks (1x with alcohol and 1x non-alcoholic) including drinks from the additional dishes (e.g. champagne). We weren't sure if we would be able to eat everything. That's why we held back on the bread. But it was just the right amount as all the plates were very special. At the beginning there was only one (very elegantly prepared) part on the plates. Then came the main course with three types of beef. Then the desserts. Everything wonderful. In between, I used the remaining bread to scrape the sauces off the plate because they were so delicious. Always special tastes and special drinks, all of which had a story to tell. In the open kitchen you can see cheerful staff preparing the food. Everyone radiates satisfaction. Cost: approx. 100€/person for food approx. 60€ / person for drinks Total including tip €340 A proud price. But also a nice experience - can be recommended! P.S. It is also cheaper (e.g. 3 course menu) and only one wine a la cart. Then you get around 150€ for two people

It was my first time there with my husband and we were invited in before it opened because of the cool weather. We were warmly welcomed and allowed to choose a table for us. Of course we took a seat right next to the open kitchen. The kitchen staff is totally structured, no stress is noticeable 👍. Every course was perfectly served and explained to us. Questions we had that couldn't be answered straight away were also answered later. We'll definitely be back, dear ones. A great concept that needs to be supported. The food is also all from the region and I think that's great...keep it up👍I'll give everyone a symbolic hug from a distance

Este restaurante realmente entrega todo el paquete. Espacio cómodo y elegante, gran lista de reproducción, encantador personal servicial y deliciosa comida, bellamente presentada con procedencia local. Nos apresuramos en una noche cálida y húmeda después de haber juzgado mal el paseo desde nuestro hotel. Inmediatamente nos hicieron sentir relajados y bienvenidos. Interesante elección de bebidas que el personal pasó tiempo ayudándonos a elegir. No puedo hacer hincapié en cómo los tomates estallan de sabor, pero mi plato destacado fue la sopa de pepino con melón. No podría recomendar este restaurante más encarecidamente y representa una excelente relación calidad-precio.

The food was excitingly varied, regional and with great transparency, as all suppliers are listed directly on the menu. The non-alcoholic accompanying drinks were wonderfully refreshing and went perfectly with the courses. A real treat! Given the beautiful weather, I can only warmly recommend reserving a table on the “terrace”. And the sourdough bread? Thank you for the recipe, it is super tasty and will last for at least 2 weeks if stored appropriately

Basic task failed: The food didn't taste good. Unfortunately, elaborate preparation, many courses and sustainable ingredients cannot replace taste. The service was always tried hard, but very hectic. The two stars are for the delicious bread and wine. Unfortunately there is no star for the food. I can't find what Michelin thinks it has discovered here.

Good cheap menu. A must when visiting Kassel, gladly again.

Today I wanted to buy a voucher in this restaurant shortly before 8 p.m. I was told with a hectic expression that they were currently in service and that I should please wait 10 minutes. Another employee then informed me that it would take 30 minutes. I then waited in the car for half an hour. When I returned it was still not possible to issue a voucher as they remained busy. I really couldn't understand why issuing a voucher, which normally only takes two minutes, required such a wait. After 40 minutes of waiting, I was about to leave the restaurant and buy the voucher somewhere else. I have never experienced something like that. The ambience of the restaurant was unappealing and with only 10 tables at most, the staff seemed overwhelmed trying to find someone to issue a voucher. If the service is so bad, I hope the food isn't just as disappointing. It's really a shame that I had to go through this experience.

We have been there several times and guys, if you want to experience creative ideas, combined tastes and textures, you shouldn't miss it. The team is simply warm, courteous and absolutely knows what they are doing. The food, the ambience and everything about it is just perfect. Every time it is an experience that is second to none. It's a shame that Kassel simply doesn't offer enough in these areas, but it's all the better that there is still a restaurant that still makes it. Do yourself a favor and try it out. The food was interesting. Unfortunately, here you are generally called by your first name and you would first have to say that you would like to be addressed. Absolutely great, but: There are no “buts”. We were with you for the first time yesterday and I really had to think about what I didn't like about you. And, to be honest, I have to admit that I can't think of any real criticism. The maximum would be that after two hours sitting on the chair would have been a little more comfortable with a seat cushion. But now to the essentials: The service! The waitresses were all incredibly friendly, never intrusive, exceptionally courteous and warm. The food is in a class of its own - and we travel around a lot in Germany and enjoy eating upscale and in the higher price segment. In my opinion, no matter how good the food is, a restaurant can still be terrible if the service isn't right. You could offer frozen food and still be in the upper range thanks to your great service staff. Everything is just right. The dishes were an experience, both in terms of taste and appearance. Everything is freshly prepared and comes from the region. The best example: the bread was so delicious that we ordered two loaves for today and picked them up this afternoon. €7.50 for a loaf of bread that was freshly baked this morning and is unfortunately far too rare to find. Thanks for a great evening. We look forward to your next visit!

We had a delicious, very good meal with many taste surprises and good wine accompaniment. Everyone was super nice and yet we were missing something. It was crowded and quite loud. We sat directly in front of the open kitchen, with a group at the neighboring table. Music played over small speakers. For my needs, this type of cuisine needs to celebrate the food, celebrate the wine. That has to be the central element around which everything revolves. At least this evening it didn't work. The first courses were too quick one after the other, coupled with the acoustics there was a feeling of “we” have to hurry up. And my wish would be to enjoy the excellent food and wine in peace and quiet.

Thanks for the incredible evening! Each dish was perfect (also the wine pairings of couse) and the staff were absolutely lovely! Putting 4 for service because at the end of the night it took us 20 minutes to pay the bill because most of the staff started eating :) I guess they were a bit exhausted.

Es war alles sehr lecker und Euer Service war klasse (freundlich, persönlich, aufmerksam)! Ganz klasse fanden wir auch die nicht-alkoholische Menübegleitung, für die sich mein Sohn entschieden hatte. Nicht einfach nur eine Aneinanderreihung von alkoholfreien Limonaden, sondern spannende und außergewöhnliche nicht-alkoholische Getränke. Like with friends in the living room. Cozy relaxed casual. Super nice service. The food is absolute madness. Real honest cuisine. Extremely delicious. The anticipation leading up to the reserved appointment is huge and is never disappointed. We are happy to have found a favorite restaurant in Kassel!

10 Gänge Menü (Brot & Butter dazu gezählt), gut aber eben nicht grossartig und somit überteuert.Hauptgericht schlecht (Ente- dies haben wir nicht essen können und deshalb ging das zurück) und insgesamt Geschmackskomposition für uns nicht sehr stimmig. Weinauswahl, sagen wir mal, eher speziell (und ja, am Ende ist alles Geschmacksache) Das Ambiente war ok, wenn auch ein wenig laut, Service auch gut.

Fantastisch, was in diesem Restaurant gezaubert wird! Besonders eine Köchin hat sich in mein Herz gekocht.

Ich vergebe sehr selten fünf Sterne, kann aber das Restaurant MONDI nicht anders bewerten. Die ***** sind absolut gerechtfertigt. Vom sehr netten Empfang beim Hereinkommen und der Begleitung zu unserem Tisch bis zur Verabschiedung, haben wir jede Minute dort genossen. Es gab ein perfektes Menü mit perfekter Wein Begleitung dazu, präsentiert von einem perfektem Service. Mehr als DANKE zu sagen ans Mondi Team und an die Küche, kann ich nicht tun. Wir hatten eine langfristige Reservierung für unsere Weihnachtsfeier. Entgegen unserer schriftlichen Reservierungsbestätigung verlangte der Betreiber drei Tage vorher einen Mindestverzehrwert von 2400€ für eine Personenanzahl von 11 Personen !!! Auch die bei Reservierung angemeldeten Unverträglichkeiten fanden keine wirkliche Berücksichtigung - alles in allem eine fragwürdige Performance !!!!

Ein absolutes Geschmacksfeuerwerk.

Die angebotene Ente war nicht mehr heiß. Pilze in sauer: sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig. Aber die Vorspeisen waren waren sehr interessant und schmeckten gut. Viel zu überteuerte Weinpreise! Treppen zur Toilette: Für Behinderte no go! Schade.

Ein schönes Konzept die Nachhaltigkeit. Leider hatte man das Gefühl, dass sich das letztendlich sehr auf den Geschmack auswirkte. Das Essen war an Einfachheit nicht zu überbieten. Immer versucht dem essen das besondere etwas zu geben und leider immer wieder versagt. Eine aufwendig zubereitete Karotte schmeckte letztendlich nur nach eine Karotte, die Zubereitung hätte man sich dort sparen können. Die 15€ die dieser Gang kostete ebenfalls. Und das ist der Hauptkritikpunkt: Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir haben für 5 Personen knapp 550,-€ bezahlt und das war, für das was es war, einfach zu viel.

Wahnsinnig lecker, grandioser Service außergewöhnliches Ambiente. Wir sind begeistert und freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Das war wirklich großartig! ... entspannte Atmosphäre, für Kassel exzellente Leistung sowohl der Küchencrew als auch des Services ... tolle Performance des Sommeliers ... insgesamt ein sehr gutes kulinarisches Erlebnis Auf jeden Fall einen Zwischenstopp wert, ggfs sogar eine Kurzreise ... wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder - Dankeschön!

Es war EINZIGARTIG, eine Explosion 💥 von kulinarischen Genüssen, an 10! Gängen - ich möchte fast von „orgastisch“ sprechen. Tipp: Unbedingt selbst testen. Natürlich muss an dieser Stelle auch der Preis erwähnt werden - 2 Personen, exklusive Trinkgeld: „… das macht dann bitte 194,00 Euro…“ - für diesen Abend war es jeden Cent wert.

Das Restaurant war großartig und die talentierten Köche sorgten für exquisite Geschmackserlebnisse. Die Portionen waren jedoch etwas klein. Die Empfangsdame war hervorragend und begrüßte uns sofort, während sie den gesamten Abend über aufmerksam war. Kleine Fehler wurden durch den hervorragenden Service ausgeglichen. Die Auswahl an alkoholfreien Getränken begleitete das Essen perfekt. Bitte machen Sie so weiter!

Super Essen mit kreativen Ansätzen aus lokalen Produkten. Spannende Zusammenstellungen. Dabei legere, moderne Atmosphäre zu einem fairen Preis, toller Service mit Hinleitung zu jedem Gang. Danke für den schönen Abend. Jederzeit wieder.

Ich kann das Mondi nur wärmstens empfehlen: ausgezeichnete Küche, super nettes Team, eine außergewöhnlich gute nicht-alkoholische Getränkebegleitung und ein Menü, das vom ersten bis letzten Gang begeistern konnte - und das zu einem angesichts der Qualität günstigen Preis. Wenn man Glück hat kann man bequem vom Platz auch bequem ein paar Blicke in die offene Küche erhaschen. Einzige Verbesserungsanregung: mir ist bewusst, dass Fix- und Personalkosten in der gehobenen Gastronomie einen Großteil der Kosten ausmachen und die Kosten für die Zutaten demgegenüber relativ weniger ins Gewicht fallen. Dennoch finde ich es schade wenn in Restaurants - noch dazu solchen, die sich der Nachhaltigkeit verschrieben haben - die gleichen Preise für vegetarische und für Fleisch-Menüs aufgerufen werden. Das scheint mir ethisch wie ökologisch die falschen Anreize zu setzen und ich kann nur hoffen, dass Tiere, die unter einigermaßen würdigen Bedingungen großgezogen wurden, teurer im Unterhalt waren, als Gemüse zu ziehen. Ich fände es toll, könnte es hier eine kleine Preisdifferenzierung geben (und wenn diese nur entsteht, indem bei der nächsten Preisanpassung das vegetarische Menü konstant gehalten wird).

Wir verbrachten einen wunderschönen Abend im Mondi, da alles gepasst hat: freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service, sehr leckere Speisen, interessante Weine und ein entspanntes Ambiente. Unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen und daher sind wir der Meinung, das Mondi kann man ruhigen Gewissens empfehlen.

Danke an das Team vom Mondi für den sehr schönen und kulinarisch sehr leckeren Abend. Das Menü war zugänglich und wurde sehr gut erläutert. Von den Vorspeisen über den Hauptgang zur Nachspeise, es war rund und die Weinbegleitung war für mich ausgewogen und passend. Für mich, rundum gelungen!

Einfach nur wow. Service: super zuvorkommend, ohne aufdringlich zu sein. Essen: optisch und geschmacklich ein Genuß für jeden der bereit ist, sich auf Neues und nicht unbedingt Naheliegendes - bspw. geeistes Kichererbsenmiso mit Kaviar- einzulassen. Getränke: Wir sind den Empfehlungen gefolgt und diese haben einen tollen Abend abgerundet

Wer auf die Wall of Text verzichten möchte: Der Service ist super freundlich, sehr aufmerksam und kompetent. Das Essen war optisch perfekt, überraschend und super lecker. Die gesamte Atmosphäre absolut entspannt und sehr angenehm. Absolute Empfehlung! Etwas länger: Im Mondi gibt es wöchentlich wechselnde Menüs. Auf der Homepage findet man Infos über die Menüfolge. Am Eingang wurden wir freundlich in Empfang genommen. Die freundliche Bedienung hat sich über den ganzen Abend gezogen. Am Anfang wird man gefragt, ob man bereits einmal bei Mondi war, falls nicht wird erst einmal umfassend der Ablauf erläutert. Brot und Butter gibt es kostenlos so viel man möchte, Wasser als Flatrate für 3,50/Person. Das Menü war zwar bekannt, aber die Art der Zubereitung und Komposition haben überrascht. Rote Beete als Zutat z.B. kam in Form einer Suppe, die trotz vorheriger ablehnender Haltung sehr lecker war. Steinpilz wurde als Baiser serviert, in dieser Form habe ich das noch nie gegessen. Insgesamt war das Menü auf einem hohen handwerklichen Niveau. Die Qualität der Speisen entsprechen dem Preis. Die Snacks und Gänge kamen in kurzer Folge. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und hat den gesamten Abend perfekt begleitet! Pro Person kostet das Menü 59 €, was es geschmacklich, qualitativ und handwerklich auch absolut wert ist. Wenn man dann noch sieht, wie viel Wert auf einen perfekten Service gelegt wird, ist der Preis günstig. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen! Und alle die Angst haben nicht satt zu werden kann ich beruhigen. Ich bin ein sehr guter Esser und war pappsatt ;)

Man fühlt sich dort einfach echt wohl, die Bedienung ist top, das Essen super und die Getränkebegleitung ist auch nicht verkehrt, Grüße gehen raus, das Wasser mit Minze hat immerhin anders geschmeckt 😂
