Absolutely loved this place. Amazing shisha, the best cocktails and delicious food. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and make sure everything is perfect. You can sit inside and outside. The vibe is really good, with nice music. We will definitely come back.

I went there for the first time today with my girlfriend and I have to say, apart from the service, it was catastrophic. The service was nice and friendly, but the wait was really critical. The food was even more critical; we ordered ramen, and it was simply disgusting. The broth was incredibly sweet with zero flavor, and the meat was so sour, probably some kind of rolled ham. The eggs aren't pickled either, and they just throw them in whole. Then there were two random pieces of broccoli in there, which I've never seen in a ramen before. The only acceptable thing was the noodles. Afterward, I went to the bathroom again, and that was the final straw. First of all, it was so hidden, with barely any signs, and when I walked in the door, I was hit by the worst pee smell ever. Honestly, it was like being in a club at 4 a.m., which you'd normally expect in a club, but not in a restaurant. I've honestly never eaten such bad food, and I'm not talking about value for money here, because I wouldn't have eaten it even if it had cost €5, but the food was simply disgusting. I don't even want to talk about the restrooms. At least the service was friendly. But I wouldn't recommend the food there for a second!

The drinks were truly delicious—refreshing and prepared with love. Special praise goes to Younes: an extremely friendly and attentive waiter who made the visit even more enjoyable. Such service is rare these days—you feel completely welcome. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Matcha doesn't taste good Double payment

We had two drinks and a Crunchyroll for €33. Due to the skeptical reviews, I didn't order more food, but I still wanted to give it a try, and the Crunchyroll was as good as it should taste.

Servers are nice, but the food is horrible. It’s supposed to be a Japanese restaurant but I don’t believe the owner is Japanese. The food (sushi) was mediocre and the wasabi tasted really stale, not spicy at all. It’s located at a great location but I don’t think I will be coming back.

Catastrophe Erlich was good once. We were there last night. We waited at least 30 minutes until someone served us and first cleaned the table. The waitress was young and had no experience serving. They apologized to each other for everything being a mess. Just one example. A cocktail 🍸 in a Coke glass!!! That tells you everything. They said they didn't have any glasses????? Is it okay to buy glasses during the week???? Prepare for Saturday. Please take this to heart. We are customers who always came and won't come again!!! We spend money 💰 with you. So we want to get something decent for our money. Because we have to pay the bill??? You're right on the food court. Central. You know what's going on on Saturdays? Apart from what the waiter said. Worst sushi I've ever eaten. These prepackaged plastic parts from Rewe are 17 times better. The service was very bad. The waiter was very rude to our group and we waited 3 hours for our order. Just ordering a water took 1 hour. If you really want to pay so much money for bad service, bad food and music that is way too loud, you might as well just throw it away. Actually I would give 0 stars everywhere.

You had to wait 15 minutes before you could even order. Then waited half an hour and still no drinks in sight! The waitress walks past you and doesn't even look. Never again!

The service was an absolute disaster. We were there on May 1st and ordered two drinks. We waited for over 20 minutes and then we were told that no order had been taken. We got up and left.

I have had 2:1 vouchers online at Neotaste for a long time and on site they say that they are no longer accepted. But even when asked to delete the ad, they don't comply. NEPP AND FARMER

After an hour of waiting, we finally received the main courses we ordered (I had a bowl) with wilted lettuce leaves, old vegetables, some missing key ingredients such as edamame and a questionably tasting salmon. Appetizers and starters were completely forgotten. This shouldn't happen in a restaurant - neither the quality of the food nor the service was acceptable. Nothing was taken off the bill. We are extremely disappointed and will definitely not be coming back.

I absolutely cannot recommend this place. The service was extremely slow and the drinks were overpriced - they also had very low alcohol content and tasted almost like water. The staff was inattentive and we had to wait almost an hour for our order. If you value your time and money, consider choosing somewhere else.

Loud stupid music, took a fortune to wait for 1 sushi roll... On the street was promotion of set, but it was not working

We had reserved for today (Saturday) via the NeoTaste app and booked an offer. We were then told on site that NeoTaste is not valid on Saturdays. That's just cheeky: you lure people with the promise of a discount, let them book - and then suddenly they say on site that it's not valid? The restaurant is already overpriced. And then such an approach? If you don't accept NeoTaste on Saturdays, you should simply block it in the app - like many other restaurants do. This was definitely the last time for us – with and without NeoTaste. It seems like you're trying to trick people on purpose. And most people find it too stupid to get up again and look for another restaurant. Very disappointing and absolutely not recommended.

The food didn't taste good at all! The soup tasted like water and soy but nothing more. Service wasn't good but the ambience was ok. We definitely won't come back.

EYE OPENING Experience in my life 🙂‍↕️ Featuring ✨ a sushi with bone ✨ Not 1 not 2 but 3 in a row 😤 Not in Japan, not in South-East Asia, but in Europe; specifically this restaurant in Germany 🙂‍↕️ We actually reflected immediately to the restaurant that the sushi had bone in it Then the waiter just said sorry, and it was not even sincere 😌 The waiter said that the chef claimed that it’s normal for this type of fish to have bone (yeah which fish doesn’t have bone right? Haha After 3 bone found out of 4piece of sushi Then we called the waiter again, And he just kept repeating that it’s normal for this type of fish to have bone in it (wow wow wow) Then the waiter asked if other sushi have bone, we said other was okay, no bone in it And then he ask us to choose salmon/tuna sushi Then replaced us with another 4 pieces of sushi 🍣 After all, They bring us a bill with total of 130+€ Luckily my friend double checked the bill And found out they include item that we did not order in the bill. Our actual bill was actually 110€ Chef can’t make the dish well and Waiter can’t do the math right 👏🏻 IMPRESSIVE ! Secretly charge us back for your “replacement for your mistake”? @monchis_frankfurt I have to strongly emphasise, it’s not the fish problem, it’s skulls issues. Please do not serve food that your chef couldn’t handle well. It’s concerning and with risk that people can choke on it 🙂 —— Side note: My friend’s chicken salad, not only the chicken is dry but it had too much sauce in it as well; it’s sauce, not soup. And excessive sauce just made the whole salad salty. 🥗 Edamame and beverage was okay. Long wait to order and long wait for the food to be served. Waiter waitress was not friendly also even before we point out the bone thingy.

Nice people and very cool atmosphere, but Shisha is just disastrous

Unfortunately service is so slow, you can understand that you need more employees. Unfortunately it took the lady so long to bring our espresso and it was cold, so she changed it, but she charged me the cost of 2 espressos. Too bad

Morning coffee is fragrant and gives you energy for the whole day. The bagels are fresh and fluffy with a wide variety of delicious fillings. The music is pleasant and the volume just right for a relaxed conversation. The seats are comfortable, perfect for enjoying a snack and relaxing. The atmosphere is welcoming and makes you want to come back.

Unfortunately, cleanliness is not the top priority here

We were here with a group for lunch today. We waited 1.5 hours for the food, the service was very unfriendly. The chicken breast was cold, the sushi was probably ok, the vegetarian food hasn't arrived yet. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant.

The inside area was empty We had to wait 9 minutes until the waiter came (not all tables were occupied) We order 2 cold drinks - Cola Zero and a schweppes - so nothing complicated. After sitting at the table for a total of 21 minutes, the waiter came - I wanted to pay immediately (I didn't want to have to wait forever again) His words were - I'll come back straight away and just bring the gentleman the Cola Zero that was on his tray - and in the meantime 3 tables got up and left - one of them had ordered food - she then went over to the burger shop. My girlfriend called out after 4 minutes - sorry - he pretended not to hear her - 35 minutes for 0.2 drinks. It's a shame with 2 waiters -

The service is slow and we waited 90 minutes for the food. Then it was partly cold and cold soups don't taste good. Two dishes were completely missing, but were still on the bill. When we didn't want to pay this, the response was very unfriendly and absolutely unprofessional. Never again!

On a Saturday at lunchtime it seemed completely overwhelmed. Waiting for over an hour for the food, when it came there was nothing for two parties, and there was no response to requests for missing cutlery from those who had already received food. After polite insistence, the response was also unfriendly. We should have listened to other reviews that said similar things. Very unfortunate.

A nice restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and very nice staff. We were able to order quickly and received our food and drinks quickly. I tried the ramen soup while I was there and I highly recommend this one. I can only recommend that everyone who is traveling along the Zeil in Frankfurt to eat there.

We had to wait 1 hour for edamame. These are simply beans that I can make at home in 5 minutes. Our table next to us and another table received their complete 5-course menu before us even though we were definitely in the restaurant when there was very little activity. Really really bad

The service is bad. Long waiting times, not flexible and unfriendly. The staff smokes e-cigarette at the bar. Bowl was a lump of rice with cheap meat, 2 lettuce leaves, 1 radish, 3 half slices of cucumber, 4 rose peppers and few beans. It's so loud that you can barely hold a conversation. So it's really not a nice atmosphere and I can't recommend it for the prices.

Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing. From the first contact, the service was rude. When we asked about the menu we were told in an unfriendly tone that it was very busy and that if we didn't have patience we should find another restaurant. Nevertheless, we stayed and showed understanding. We ordered water, but although guests who arrived later received their drinks promptly, we were ignored. Even with two small children we had to wait significantly longer. Additionally, we only received a single napkin for our family of four. The condition of the car seat was unacceptable - extremely dirty, sticky and apparently not cleaned for a long time. The originally white surface was now light brown with dirt. Overall our visit was a big disappointment. Unfriendly service, lack of attention and poor hygiene – we cannot recommend this restaurant under any circumstances.

The interior design with the lights and cherry blossoms was very stylish and cozy. We were warmly welcomed and served quickly. We had to ask once because a drink was missing, but that came quickly and the waiter apologized. To eat there was fried sushi and edamame. Both on point and tasty. Unfortunately, the homemade strawberry lemonade was too sweet for us. Shisha was ok too, it just took a long time until we got new coal. Not exactly cheap for €25, but not surprising for downtown Frankfurt. We weren't presented with a menu for the shisha either. On a Friday evening you can get a table straight away, even without a reservation or minimum consumption.

Very solid value for money The restaurant offers good and quite acceptable quality, especially in relation to the prices. The meals were delicious and freshly prepared. Particularly noteworthy is the beautiful atmosphere – both inside and outside. Overall, a pleasant experience that I can recommend.

We wanted to spend a nice evening at Monchis on New Year's Eve and had reserved a table in advance. When we arrived we were told that there were no tables available and that we should wait outside in the cold. We were also told that there was a minimum consumption amount of €50, which was suddenly increased to €75 during the course of the conversation. The gentleman in front of the entrance explained to us that this was communicated via Instagram. We didn't find anything about it on Instagram and it wasn't mentioned on the restaurant's official website or when we made our reservation. After standing outside in the cold for several minutes, we finally decided to go to another restaurant, which of course turned out to be not easy on New Year's Eve. We are very disappointed with the restaurant's extremely unprofessional and rude behavior and will definitely avoid it in the future.

Unfortunately you have to wait too long until someone comes to order the food. I got the wrong food several times and once an ALCOHOLIC drink, even though I ordered a non-alcoholic drink 😭😭😭 I had a huge argument with the waiter, who said to me: he wasn't guilty, but Barmen😨

Very bad service. The waitress was a lady with glasses and our request wasn't fulfilled and in the end we wanted the bill but she kept working and didn't pay any attention. So I waited a very long time.

The sushi is pretty good, but very “germanized”. In summer it is nice to sit outside and the bathrooms are very clean.

Absolute disaster. We were there for dinner. I ordered the udon noodles with fried tofu. I was later asked again what exactly I had ordered and I confirmed by saying again exactly what I had ordered. I then received a similar but different dish that I didn't want. When I sent it back they said the actual one wasn't available and when I asked if any combination of the two dishes could be made they said it wasn't possible (although I never really understood the waiter either). The waiter also seemed to have no idea when it came to ordering drinks, because when we asked for a dry red wine, he said all red wines were sold out and only the one offered in a bottle was available and dry. At least we got it without ordering a whole bottle. I also received a glass of wine on the house as compensation for the food not being delivered properly (and because I didn't want to eat anything else). That was really nice. Unfortunately, another order was also delivered incorrectly without comment. There was a lady sitting in front of the toilet cubicles who wanted change for cleaning. I find it rather unusual in a restaurant and not that nice. All in all, the waitresses don't seem to know at all what they actually have on the menu. Too bad. For the prices you should be able to expect more. Around 8 a.m. the lights were dimmed but kept switching on and off, which was annoying. The food was probably good.

Nice location with the illuminated cherry blossom tree and thanks to the heat dispenser you could sit outside in the tent nice and dry. The service itself was friendly, just a bit inattentive (we weren't asked if we wanted to eat anything and were only given the drinks menu, plus ordering more drinks took forever because no one came)

This place offers the worst service and food you can get in Frankfurt am Main. It couldn't be worse. The staff is rude and snappy. The food is overpriced and tasteless. The worst 2 hours of my life. I paid money to be yelled at and eat crappy food.

Really cool location. I can't understand some of the comments at all. I've been to Monchis more often now and I have to say that the food was delicious and the service staff were always in a good mood. Can only recommend it. I will definitely go again.

The sushi restaurant impresses with a very cozy atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing. The shisha is excellent and complements the experience perfectly. The sushi is fresh and tastes great – really tasty and beautifully prepared. A great place for anyone who wants to enjoy good sushi in a relaxed environment.

I'm shocked. We were sent away with 9 women on the grounds that large groups had to pay a minimum turnover, in our case €450. Without this turnover there is no table. There were enough tables both outside and inside. Incredibly unfriendly staff. Never again !!!!

The service was very friendly here. But despite that and the location, the prices really shocked me and the quality wasn't as awesome as you would expect for the price.

Nice restaurant, very central, staff also friendly and helpful. Drinks were good, it just took a little long for a water, a coffee and a coke (waited 30 minutes) However, card payment is only available from €15, which is a bit of a shame.

On Tuesday lunchtime we ordered our food at 12:50 p.m. (only 6 people at the other 2 tables in the room had already eaten), but by 1:20 p.m. our food still hadn't been served. When we asked, we learned that the sushi was still being prepared. Our food wasn't served until 1:30 p.m. I asked the waiter why it took so long and he replied that there was a large table of customers upstairs and there were only a few employees in the kitchen today. I then asked if we shouldn't have been informed in advance that we would have to wait so long - after all, not everyone has the time to wait that long for food at lunchtime. Finally, two bowls were served at 1:40 p.m. (the dish was super tasty). The sushi was OK, but the rice left a lot to be desired. Despite the few guests in the restaurant, the waiting time was disproportionately long and the price-performance ratio was not right. I therefore cannot recommend this restaurant.

The same dish was ordered twice, but one arrived 20 minutes after the other. The reason given was that the kitchen was overloaded - even though it was only lunchtime and the restaurant was almost empty.

I enjoy coming here regularly, whether alone or with friends. Service is top and the employees are very accommodating and friendly. Whether for sushi, shisha or just a drink, I would always recommend Monchis!

If I could I would give it minus stars... first the waiter tried to sell me a much more expensive cocktail even though I only wanted water. A cocktail was then brought and I asked for one. The food took forever and was on a table in the middle of the room the whole time. So the food was cold and didn't taste good at all... Not fresh and also tasted old. The music was also very loud, like in a nightclub, you couldn't have a conversation. When we finally wanted to pay we were told by three different waiters that someone would be coming soon. After 20 MINUTES! still nothing until we got up and complained to someone else. The waiter then simply gave himself a tip and said that if he paid by card he had to round it up. Really not recommended at all!!!

I don't think I had sushi worse than here. It took forever to get done and it was a sloppy poor attempt of a former kebab house to make sushi. We kind of realised it wouldn't be good just from the look of the place and the dishes on the menu but we were in a rush and the place was not that full. It's a good location and it made me sad that it's occupied by this place.

Very unsympathetic manager, we had to wait a long time for the menu and outside the tables were so sticky, overfilled ashtrays that smelled so bad. We called the waiter's attention and asked him to wipe the table and remove the ashtrays, he said to us please don't stress us out now Everyone is exhausted, well what else can you say about that? They are probably underpaid, I have no idea how bad the service is, the unfriendly staff and the manager have also been very unfriendly, never again!!!!!!

Make mix for old chicken and fresh

Been here for the first time. Staff okay, but the food absolutely not recommended. I had a bowl that I couldn't eat. It didn't taste good and I couldn't finish it. The chicken just tasted old. I was asked whether it was tasty with an almost full plate. But after I said that it didn't taste good, that was the end of it. Overpriced - if the quality is good and it tastes okay, but I wouldn't go here again.

No recommendation! I saw Monchis on Neotaste and thought I'd give it a try. I was there at 12:10 and the brunette waitress didn't pay attention to me, serve me or give me a menu for 10 minutes. I then left because I don't understand paying for such a "service". Such a “service” is an absolute no-go. This behavior is just unprofessional and unfriendly. I can only advise against eating here.

It doesn't work at all. Wanted to have a quick cocktail with my work colleagues. Weather, 27 degrees. Since we were out and about in Frankfurt all day, we were mostly loosely dressed outside. We didn't get in. One of the employees at the entrance asks the other, "Do we want to let those in with shorts come in?" As if we weren't present. Absolutely demeaning tone. Ridiculous. As if it were a high society club. I'm now in my mid-40s and used to go to numerous clubs and bars all over Germany, but SOMETHING. YOU are a fish shop and not a Club Apolo in Barcelona. Oh well. But do it...

We ate super delicious bowls. For lunch there is a separate menu with cheaper prices. The restaurant is spread over several floors and in front of the restaurant there is an outdoor area facing Fressgasse. The service was top.

We wanted to spend a relaxing evening in this supposedly “hyped” location with my sister. Backfired... Very inattentive staff. We were neither warmly welcomed nor asked during our stay whether everything was OK. The food was catastrophic, simply inedible. The best is saved for last, when we paid we noticed that the amount was far too high, so we looked at the receipt again. A shisha was included in the bill, which we never ordered/smoked. We brought this up immediately and were cheekily asked: “Didn’t you smoke shisha?” Well, in the end the price for the shisha (€25) was deducted from the bill. But in retrospect we realized that we still paid too much •-•… No recommendation from us.

Unfortunately the service was very bad, we had to wait an extremely long time to even order… In addition, price-performance is very poor. There is little choice & everything is overpriced. The food only came after 45 minutes, with the starter… Normally you serve the starter beforehand to satisfy your hunger... After a long wait, we received our food. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the price either. Not recommended… For such a price I expect better service & delicious food!

I've known Monchis for a few years and you can't go wrong. It's actually the best bar on the whole street at the moment and the classiest.

Yesterday on the beautiful day June 8th, 2024 we were in Frankfurt. Went for something to eat, sushi and bowl why not. The sushi was okay, but the chicken bowl, the ingredients looked like they had been sitting in the kitchen unrefrigerated for a week. Lettuce was dried brown, radishes were stuck together in a slimy, indefinable layer. Disgusting !!! No apology from the waiter, the second attempt was better. A friendly, good accordion player received a tip! MONCHIS - Sushi - Bar better keep walking if you don't want to swallow Imodium!!!!!!! If you want to eat well in the corner, there is a cake shop; Cinnamood ; Left. Over 50 people went in there in 30 minutes, then I was super delicious!!!!

NEVER AGAIN!!! We drove to Frankfurt specifically to eat here. Service bad, staff very unfriendly. Food from my husband arrived, I had to wait 1 hour for my food. No cutlery? Should I eat with my hands? After I asked for cutlery, I had to wait another 10 minutes 😂 bad and so expensive. that was the first and last time!!!!! Oh yeah, and not at all like your pictures on insta. Totally dirty

We were visiting for the first time, PEOPLE I can only recommend it, the atmosphere is perfect. Everything is hygienic and clean, you just feel good :) Big thanks to Whanchid 🌷 He served us so well & gave us a warm welcome :) Come here laaadys @Gentelmaaans 🥰
