We went there thanks to the Schwarzwald Plus card. Please note that only the main course is free, not the rest. The dishes are very generous. The rest of the meal is reasonably priced. Simple food, all in a very pleasant, picturesque setting.

We took the tour and were impressed by the technology that was installed back then. The waterwheel and the saw in action are worth the trip, and there's also a lovely collection of woodworking tools. Hearty meals are served here every Thursday and Saturday.

We took the tour on July 22, 2025. We really enjoyed it; Uwe explained everything there was to know about the mill with great passion. We (mother and daughter) came from the Swabian Alb and Lower Saxony. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, we won't be there on Saturday, otherwise we would have stopped by for a snack. We hope the mill can be used and preserved for a long time to come!

A brilliant idea. A fully functioning sawmill becomes a snack bar twice a week. Regional specialties are served at regular prices. A beautiful ambiance with lovingly displayed old tools.

Today, my wife and I went on a tour of the Mönchshof sawmill. We were both very impressed. The owner (Uwe) showed us the sawmill with enthusiasm, told its history with passion, and happily answered all our questions. Unfortunately, we were the only visitors today, but that didn't spoil the overall experience. Uwe was 150% there. We highly recommend the Mönchshof sawmill and will definitely stop by again when we're in the area.

While hiking on the Krappenweg we both passed the mill. We thought about coffee and cake. But then the surprise on Saturday afternoon: There was a tour of the mills with a guided tour by the owner. The history of the building was told. The technology of the mill with an active water wheel was shown and explained. And in the end a tree trunk was actually sawed in half. The mill was restored with great care and attention to detail, and even today it is still occasionally sawn using water power. Is run and managed by the owner family. Tour is very interesting and impressive. Also great hospitality with a great snack menu. Support the mill project by taking the tour, eating and drinking and buying wooden souvenirs. Hello, we actually wanted to have a drink, eat a snack and then take a tour of the factory. However, the family business was supported in service by two children (presumably their own children/grandchildren?). From a purely legal and, above all, ethical point of view, this is an absolute gray area, in our opinion. In particular, the young girl, well under 12, skillfully served the meals to the neighboring tables. Despite a friendly smile, you can see tired and sad children's eyes. The boy, who was clearly underage (he even looked significantly younger than 14 to us), also tapped the beer like a professional. There is absolutely nothing wrong with “helping out” in the family business. But anyone who serves so well at that age must have had a lot of practice. It's just an observation from us and we don't know more about the background. We simply want to reflect the effect on the guest and perhaps the operator can think about it again. At the same time, visiting children the age of two were playing outside in the yard. Maybe the two of them would be better off there so they could just be children. It leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. That's why after the drink we decided against eating and sightseeing. The ambience was very nice, the prices were absolutely reasonable and the food on the neighboring table also looked good. We wish all the best.

I took part in a tour of the mill as part of the SchwarzwaldPluskarte. It was very interesting and quaint. What the family does there to keep these old walls alive is enormous. My utmost respect.

It's a shame that only 5 stars are possible. A wonderful atmosphere and very tasty food at reasonable prices. I had a mill burger with homemade potato salad. Both extremely tasty and wonderfully prepared. I was also able to try the sausage salad, which was also very tasty. For a burger and two 0.5l beers, €17 was due. I'll try the Maultaschen next Thursday. 😋

We have been to the Mönchhofsäge-Mühle several times and can only recommend this great Sögemühle. Since we had visitors from North Rhine-Westphalia, it was time again for a visit on Saturday afternoon for lunch and a subsequent tour of the sawmill, which Bernd Schittenhelm made very interesting.

You immediately feel like an old friend of Uwe (owner and landlord). The opening lecture on the tour is very interesting, informative and entertaining. The details on the wheel, inside the mill and on the saw are just as interesting and entertaining. In a flash, the good hour is over. Then another steak or sliced ​​and grilled bratwurst with a fried egg. Yummy! Potato salad doesn't come from the big industrial pot like most of the time, but a taste like nowhere else. All in all, recommended, would happily do so again and again.

Absolutely rustic mill where you can have a great meal and enjoy a good wine, fitting for the town of Vesperweiler 😂 Since we were very hungry and had a hard time deciding, we ordered a snack plate, Maultaschen, bratwurst with potato salad and an additional portion of potato salad. There was also very good bread. After the delicious meal, we were full and very satisfied. 👍 From time to time there is also musical entertainment. !!! Attention, only cash payment possible!!!

I can't have a say in the meal because we only had coffee. But what we saw at the other tables looked great. Mega ambience. Gladly again.

When we, four starving sauna lovers, made our way to the "Mönchhofsäge - Mühle", we had high expectations - and oh boy, were they exceeded! This unique adventure restaurant, which enchants with its rustic atmosphere and delicious home-cooked food in the heart of the Black Forest, is a real gem. The burger: simply divine! A burger so expertly prepared that we almost forgot to breathe. It's no wonder that even the local forest animals cast envious glances through the windows. This burger definitely has what it takes to be an Instagram star – if only it could survive long enough to be photographed. But what would a visit to the Mönchhofsäge be without the legendary Feuermühlen schnapps? A promise for the soul, packed in a small glass. We raised our glasses and with every sip we felt more connected to the old mill spirits who whispered in the corners and toasted the well-being of the guests. The atmosphere in the Mönchhofsäge is simply incomparable - a warm, inviting environment that takes every visitor back to a time long gone. Here, every meal becomes a festive event, and the Feuermühlen schnapps is the icing on the cake that rounds off the evening perfectly. In short, the "Mönchhofsäge - Mühle" is not just a place to eat and drink. It's a place where you can find joy, laughter and a bit of Black Forest magic. For four of us sauna fans, it was an unforgettable experience that we would love to repeat. 10/10 – for the Mönchhofsäge, their heavenly burger and of course the unforgettable Feuermühlen-

Why four stars? Well, it was delicious and we were warmly welcomed and served. Drinks were brought and distributed quickly, and the food didn't take long and came to the table hot. Plus it's perfectly prepared. We were a very large group, so it was loud, but that wasn't a problem either. Father and son serve, really friendly and special requests are taken into account and implemented quickly. You feel very comfortable. All in all a successful, great evening. Will come again. But! Be careful when ordering, father takes the order, makes a mark on the beer mat, son brings the beer and makes another mark. But that was resolved after a short conversation. Please note the opening times. And always reserve a table. No matter how many people you are.

Wir haben mit Schwarzwald Plus die Besichtigungstour mit Sägevorführung besucht. Sind total begeistert von Claudia und Uwe Schittenhelm, die uns ihre mit viel Liebe zur Heimat gepflegte Mönchhof-Sägemühle vorgeführt haben! Ein Muss für Einheimische und Gäste.

Довольно оригинальный ресторан при старой мельнице с самобытной многолетней историей. Как я поняла, семейный бизнес. Еда понравилась, стейк был в меру прожарен. Порции небольшие. Очень много людей. С Schwarzwald Plus еда бесплатно (1 порция на выбор), напитки оплачиваются отдельно. Нам было интересно узнать, что такое "мельничный вечер" в Vesperweiler по четвергам. Довольно интригующее название. Я представляла себе деревенский праздник с живой музыкой и каким-то шоу. И мы приехали сюда в свой отпуск, спланировав в этих краях сразу несколько активностей. Мы думали после насыщенного дня провести здесь весь вечер, расслабившись в деревенской атмосфере. Но оказалось, что здесь нужно было регистрироваться заранее. Это не праздник для всех, это просто ресторан, и мы этого не поняли. О регистрации не было указано на сайте, и это сильно нарушило все наши планы и разочаровало. За это я сняла только одну звезду, хотя проблема намного серьёзнее. О необходимости регистрации нужно обязательно сообщать заранее на сайте, как обычно это делается. Люди едут издалека. Зарегистрировавшись, мы приехали сюда ещё раз на следующей неделе после работы. Но это уже был не отпуск, времени отдыхать в четверг у нас не было, у дочери не получилось вообще второй раз приехать. Мы просто поели и ушли. Может и был потом какой-то праздник или шоу, но мы этого не увидели. Просто увидели переполненное людьми помещение. Но сделать ресторан при старой мельнице - оригинальная идея. 4 звезды - это из-за объекта с потрясающей историей, дизайна и парня, который мог разговаривать по-английски. Возможно, если бы нам удалось попасть сюда сразу во время отпуска, побыть здесь подольше и увидеть специальную программу для "мельничного вечера", это было бы 5 звёзд. Не знаю.

Essen in einer historischen Sägemühle, muss man mehr sagen? Die Speisen sind zünftig, Preise in Ordnung, Service gut organisiert. Mit Schwarzwald Plus ist ein Hauptgericht kostenlos. Kommen häufig in unserem Urlaub her, auch die Kinder lieben es.

Die Führung und die Erklärungen über die Mühle war sehr interessant, bis zu dem Punkt als die Veranstaltung zu einer politischen Werbeveranstaltung einer braun angehauchten Partei wurde. Da haben wir beschlossen zu gehen. Der gute Mann sollte künftig die Politik aus der ansonsten sehr interessanten Führung lassen.

Sommer-Aktives Museum mit Winteraktiver Produktion, herrlich, Wasserkraft ist die einzigsten emisionsfreie Energiequelle. Leute wacht auf, dort wird ohne die Grünen gewirtschaftet. 1***** Wünsche weiter gutes Gelingen und durchhalten. Könnte Stundenlang jeden Sägezahn oder Beile zur Handarbeit schätzen. Das ist Wertarbeit.

Schöne Führung, es hat Spaß gemacht und der Schinken und die Salami ausgezeichnet gut. Alles sehr zu empfehlen 👍
