Monaco Ramen in München

Hands down this is the best ramen joint in Munich, and definitely not some wannabe Ramen place that claims to serve authentic Classical Japanese Ramen but puts Bak Choy or hard boiled egg. Would recommend visiting this place!

I didn’t like the food. The ramen was sticky. The vegetarian dish was so salty it was almost inedible. The pickles starter? A few slices of pickle and some plain carrots. Overpriced for what it was. The broth was fine.

The best ramen I have ever had so far!

Erim really did something great - it all started with ramen kits, then the first pop-up stores and finally the permanent shop on Gasteig. An impressive development and a real enrichment for the Munich gastronomy scene! Monaco Ramen serves original Japanese ramen that is unrivaled in Munich. The seats right at the counter in particular create a real Japanese feeling: you can watch the crew prepare something and have your steaming bowl served right where you sit. In terms of taste, it is by far the best and, above all, most authentic ramen in the city. Yes, the prices are a little higher, but there are organic ingredients and real craftsmanship - and it's worth every penny! P.S. Definitely try the gyoza too

The food is very tasty and of good quality, the noodles and eggs are very well made. The place is not very comfortable to sit and be in, since it is next to another restaurant and you have to buy drinks at the bar next door. The price is a little high, but it is worth the effort involved in making a tonkotsu. We recommend making a reservation.

After our trip to Japan, we were really craving good ramen again and - as so often - ended up at Monaco Ramen. We really like the new location on Gasteig, especially the seats at the counter, which are a bit reminiscent of Japan. The map is nice and clear and exactly right. The starters are homemade and something different: In addition to gyoza, there are, for example, wontons in chili oil, grilled mackerel or tsukemono pickles - really tasty. The Shoyu Ramen are exactly our thing: clear, aromatic chicken broth, very well balanced and with handmade noodles and currently also as a special with grilled mackerel. The Tonkotsu also impresses with its strong, creamy broth and reminds us of the ramen in Fukuoka. For us, one of the best addresses in Munich when it comes to ramen, including great advice and a super friendly team.

Food was so-so but place looks cool

It's not really comfortable to sit in, the food isn't special and, above all, the price is way too high.

The store is part of a shared location with a burger joint. The ramen is of a very high standard, great noodles, great broth, in my case the tonkotsu, the ramen egg on point! Clear recommendation when it comes to food!

Well, for about 20 euros per portion it's not too perfect :) Portion isn't too big, it takes a relatively long time to get the food despite a reservation. Without a reservation you will find yourself in front of a closed door. For comparison, you can get a burger and fries for €20 in the same hall, and much faster. Conclusion: yes it tastes good, no, it's not fast food if you wait over 40 minutes for a soup, yes it's a bit too expensive even for Muc, you can find the same quality and larger portions for less money. But it's still good and you should have eaten ramen there

Nice shop and great service. The boss personally served and advised us. Competent and very friendly. The food was super tasty. We were there specifically for ramen 🍜 and for anyone who wants that, I recommend making a reservation. Even before it opened, the queue was probably 20 meters long and with the reservation you can go straight to the door and you will be taken to the seat 👍 The prices are in the normal range compared to the local area. We'd love to come back.

Ramen is very tasty, but please rethink your entry concept. Saturday evening, waiting an hour without knowing which restaurant you are queuing for. Unfortunately very disorganized.

The Tonkotsu Ramen was by far the best ramen I ate in Germany. The homemade pasta in particular is on a different level than the ready-made pasta of other restaurants. The chashu was also great. The soup tasted very natural and you could tell that it was prepared with care.

I try every ramen shop I can and this is the most authentic ramen flavour profile I have come across since living in Japan - proper homemade noodles, long simmered broth and especially the Mazesoba is top of the line even by Japanese standards. Will be back.

Good ramen, I can highly recommend it. Look creamy and al dente. Lava egg was very good. Unfortunately, the Hakata Ramen wasn't available that day.

Best Ramen place in Munich. The owner is so friendly, the food is incredible. We love coming here and always go for Tonkotsu and Tsukemono. The vibe is very familiar and chill. Big fat emphasis on friendly, the owner even taught us this pickle brine recipe. 100/10 Would recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends as it gets busy pretty fast

Anyone who thinks that soups don't fill you up is wrong. Umd definitely has to pay a visit to probably the best authentic ramen place. The menu is clear and you can always order correctly. It's all very, very tasty. Above all, the service. Friendly, accommodating, open and ready for all inquiries. The boss personally looks after the guests and helps with the orders. I haven't been served so well in a long time and haven't eaten so well in a long time. All thumbs up! ;-)

Excellent ramen, prepared with a lot of dedication to the product, similar to that in Japan. The taste and presentation are hardly different from those in Japan. The only drawback is the relatively high surcharge of €3 for swapping pig chashu for chicken. Location is very fancy, which in my opinion is unnecessary since the ramen is the main focus.

Super big let down after all these Munich food guides hyped them up. Don't trust these guides they don't know what they're talking about. I ordered chicken gyoza and the tonkotsu ramen. The gyoza looked cooked but were still cold. Sent them back and got new ones that still ended up being room temperature. Had to wait up to 30mins for my ramen and it wasn't even that busy. The broth had no flavour like they forgot to put in the Tare. Also the noodles were more like chinese egg noodles than regular ramen noodles. The ramen cost €19.50 while at Takumi the equivalent is €15.80. I don't recommend this place.

Great ramen restaurant. Super nice people great service. We ate the Shoyu ramen and they were really delicious. My friend also had the gyoza, which was also great. A clear recommendation from us.

Definitely best ramen in Munich. We had the Tonkotsu and the Taiwan mazesoba, both were very rich and deep in flavor and the noodles had a nice chewy consistency.

The restaurant closest to Japanese ramen that I have eaten in Germany so far! In order to blend in with the local German taste, the soup has been adjusted to be a little lighter, but the overall flavor is still very close to Japan. Being able to eat such Asian flavors while on a business trip in Germany can be said to be quite outstanding!

Amazing ramen in Munich! The place is crowded during the weekend but we found a table (4 people) even without booking. Waiters are smiley and kind. The service wasn't super fast, but still fine. Just back from Japan, my husband and I tried this new ramen restaurant in town. The restaurant is very nice, very Japanese style, but much larger. The opportunity to sit at the counter is priceless. The quality of the ramen is very good and is very close to the authentic Japanese ramen. It can be compared to what you eat in Japan! However, I would like the noodles a little more doubled and the meat slices a little more doubled. The price is the same as in Munich, but is higher than what you eat in Japan. We ordered Shoyu and Tonkotsu Ramen and some starters. The fried shrimp Wantan is the highlight of starters. I liked both soups, one more clear flavored with shoyu and chicken broth, and another deep creamy smoked. The noodles are the best handmade ramen, cooked with right time. We enjoyed a lot.

Ramen is prepared daily fresh by the owner. It was very delicious. The sitting area was not very comfortable and you cannot order your drinks (you have to buy them from another location inside the restaurant) but besides that was definitely worth the visit!

Love the experience if you know what to expect. It's more of an informal eatery than a restaurant and there are two separate kitchens inside. I was happy to find a vegan ramen which does not have the usual miso broth but a mushroom broth. It was hot and fulfilling! I can recommend it! It's a bit stuffy with the seating. Other people are always seated right beside you. If they add more vegetarian options at around 14-15€ price range, I would definitely return.

I like going to ramen shops when I travel. I went there because it had high reviews. I had the pork bone ramen and it was really delicious! ! Rich soup, juicy chashu, and firm noodles. I think this is the most delicious pork bone ramen I've had in Germany. The atmosphere is casual in a good way. I was also interested in Taiwanese mazesoba and fish sauce ramen. I will definitely come again if I come to Munich ❤️

Visited this restaurant takeaway last week and were not disappointed. The two starters were delicious (ribs were really tender) and the two main courses were also delicious. When we were there there was little going on and the noise was pleasant, only the temperature was quite warm 🥵 You can get drinks at a separate stand and there is also a burger snack bar in the large room. Friendly staff who bring the food to the table and also explain the dishes if you have any questions. Of course it's not for dinner, but that's not what it wants to be. Guests casual and relaxed. Definitely again sometime.

Best ramen in town! I'm really impressed at how the owner has worked his way up from the small interim use of a bar in Maxvorstadt (cooking alone). I first got to know his kitchen two years ago by chance while passing by and have been dreaming about the (vegan) ramen ever since. I found it very charming that he still remembered me despite the huge popularity. But I have to say that I have never eaten such a delicious ramen since then (whether in Germany or while traveling). And the Fat Car offers the perfect opportunity to linger with live music and a roof terrace. Absolute recommendation for Munich!!!

Rather industrial and loud. We waited over 25 minutes for the noodles. In the end it was spaghetti carbonara for over 16 euros. Delicious, yes. Can you get it cheaper and just as good somewhere else...yes.

I go to Monaco Ramen regularly and it's a treat every time! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the service is always friendly and attentive. Perfect broth, but the noodles can be better.

Japanese here, born and raised in Fukuoka, where Tonkotsu Ramen is originally from. This is by far the most authentic & delicious Tonkotsu ramen that i ever had in Munich. I am very happy that this restaurant exists, because no other major ramen shops were convincing, and I missed my hometown taste a LOT!! The broth is religiously thick, yet has delicate taste. My husband who doesn’t like Tonkostu ramen because of it’s greasy soup even liked it. One thing that can be improved to get the attention they deserve; there is too long queue in front of the entrance, where people are waiting for the burgers instead of the Monaco ramen. I saw some people turned around and left because they thought the ramen shop is also full and they had to wait. Having a info board mentioning that the guests for ramen can come in, would encourage people to come in more. I'm a Japanese from Hakata. I've never been satisfied with the tonkotsu ramen I've had at any of the ramen shops in Munich, but the tonkotsu ramen here was so authentic and delicious that I was so excited. When you're homesick, you can soothe yourself here. Even though the chef is not Japanese, I was impressed by his attention to detail and attention to authentic flavors.

An absolute highlight for ramen lovers in Germany! The tonkotsu broth is incredibly intense, the noodles have just the right consistency, and the egg is waxy. The owner is also very personable and you can see his love for the craft. There is only room for improvement in the ambience due to the quite loud music.

The Ramen soups are delicious: you can select either from pork, meet, fish or vegetarian. The flavor is fantastic. Attention was very nice also. The only recommendation I would give is to have better air filters because inside smells heavily to burnt oil. IMPORTANT: Make sure to reserve, because after 18:30, it gets full.

Delicious but completely overpriced ramen. They share seating with a burger joint and a bar. But if you're in a group and one has ramen, one has burgers and one has something from the bar, you're not allowed to sit at the same table together. Absolutely ridiculous. As a group we had to move around three times and eat and drink one after the other. Pretty kindergarten.

I tried the Tonkotsu Ramen, the broth was good and the noodles tasty, however the portion of noodles I found it to be small for the amount of broth in the bowl. I finished the contents on my dish and got left with half a bowl of soup. The price is definitely too high for the value I got from the dish. For a nearly 20 euros bowl of ramen, it was definitely not enough. In my opinion the place is just overpriced. One thing I was hoping to get were real Japanese drinks, they have just sake. When I asked for other drinks, they send me to the drink island inside the place which has generic stuff but nothing Japanese-like. A 0,33L Radler costs more than the normal you pay for a 0,5 litter in other restaurants. They should definitely work on their drink offering. The staff was nice, no complaints about that, however, I thought the waiting period to get in was excessive, some tables were available and we still weren’t let in. When we finally got a table we spent some time just seating until we understood the order has to be made at the counter. A faster explanation of how the service worked would have been nice. All in all, I think this place is overhyped, overpriced and lacks offering. I won’t be back.

It has simply become the best ramen you can get in germany (05/2024). Perspective: far beyond any takumi branch and respective berlin ramen. Shoyu imho is the one that gave me tokyo vibes. Hope they step into the niboshimania takes soon.

I had many Ramen in Germany and also been to Japan several times so I know what I’m talking about: I had the Fish-Shoyu and this Ramen is just top tier!!! Every single penny worth it

Food excellent, unfortunately a bit cramped

When I tried the soy sauce ramen, I was surprised at how well-done it was. I think this is the most delicious ramen restaurant in Deutschland. The deep flavor of the different flavors of kelp, shiitake mushrooms, dried sardines, and chicken bones combined with the aroma of the naturally brewed dark and light soy sauce was truly amazing. However, the owner was also worried that the noodles should have been boiled for a longer time. The hardness of the core remained and it was really a waste. Next time I visit, I will have to request softer noodles.

I had the vegan ramen and 6 gyōza. For me it was one of the top 3 vegan ramen in Germany. The broth was rich, creamy and intense, but nicely balanced. The ramen itself was cooked to the right point and was super high quality. The gyōza were also very good, with a slight spiciness, silky and airy steamed and crispy fried bottom. Food was excellent, service was focused on the job, but still very friendly. The wait for the food was longer than expected, but considering how few staff processed the amount of fresh ingredients, I wouldn't give it a deduction. I deducted a star for the ambience because I really appreciate the intimacy of ramen bars and the Smashed Burgen in the same hall didn't quite fit into the overall picture. Which is of course to be expected from a market hall. Nevertheless, the Ramen-Var is beautifully designed, the indirect light is super pleasant, and the space at the bar is cozy. Hooks for jackets or bags under the table might not be a bad idea ;) From that point of view, it's definitely a high-quality and delicious experience with a fair price for the quality. Thanks!

Even after the 5th time I am still surprised by the taste. Simply good. Made with a lot of love and skill. Unfortunately, I'm not an ultra-well-known influencer who will make the store boom. But maybe this will give me a chance to enjoy perfect ramen there a few more times.

The shop on Rosenheimerstrasse is more of a snack bar than a restaurant. You have to get your own food and drinks. If you're unlucky like us, you end up sitting in the smell of fries and burgers from the neighboring restaurant. The frames are really very good, but simply for the ambience and everything is just a tad too expensive. In addition, the different toppings in the soup were cold, so I really asked myself what I had paid €18 for... It's a shame, but like so many in Munich, it's simply overpriced.

This is the most delicious ramen restaurant in Munich. We make our original noodles and soup with great care. This is a shop where you can feel the enthusiasm of the owner. I had the soy sauce ramen, and it's a light type that is rare in Europe, so I don't think you can get it at other restaurants.

The Tonkotsu Ramen and eggs are absolutely top! Super nice crew behind the counter. Only the walk-in system has not yet been perfectly adopted from Japan. If the line isn't moving, feel free to go in and see if there really is nothing free at the counter. Otherwise it is rather loud, so not for a good conversation or first date.

It can be so good, but very unfriendly

This was far from RAMEN. The soup tasted like a normal vegetable soup (it’s not RAMEN soup), noodles tasted half cooked and too soft, the toppings appeared OK but didn’t taste good. Sorry for strict comment because I am Japanese and I love Ramen. I have to share the honest feedback. If this was served as a normal soup, this could work. Is it RAMEN? NO.

Tonkotsu Ramen is amazing 5 star. But Shoyu Ramen is maybe 3.5 stars. The owner's passion for ramen is also 5 stars. Matcha Panna Cotta is an excellent combination of East and West and also full of surprises. More nuances of the ramen will be more interesting.

The tastiest ramen in Munich. It's worth queuing.

The food is just okay for the crowds. It's open from 6 p.m. and people have to queue from 6 p.m. It wouldn't have to be if there were the promised 2 queues. One for the burger joint and one for ramen. This means you have customers lining up for both. It's bad luck when the first customers line up at the door for burgers, it's busier there, and the waitress only asks the person standing directly in front of her. So if you want to eat ramen, it's worth asking at the door. The ramen is okay. Nothing special and priced at the top end (or above). The operators are really nice and relaxed.

Too expensive for self-service. The broth of the vegan ramen was delicious, but almost pudding-like in consistency and sat like a stone in the stomach for hours. Unfortunately, due to the burger station in the same room, we and our clothes smelled like burgers afterwards.
