Monaco Ramen in München

Food was okay but service was honestly outrageous—half the menu wasn’t even available, and the staff seemed completely unprofessional. Wouldn’t recommend it.

We attended the pop-up event on July 18th and were sadly disappointed. Generally, we noticed that there was interest in creating a beautiful and delicious event, but unfortunately, there were two issues that significantly dampened the experience: 1. Overwhelmed service: The waiters seemed competent, but there were far too few of them. Accordingly, the wait times were extremely long, and things were forgotten. Although several tables were free and, as it turned out, not reserved, we had to wait about 45 minutes before we could be seated because the waitress simply didn't have time to attend to us. No offense to the waitress, it's just a bit negligent to schedule so few people for such an event. Unfortunately, our dessert was also forgotten and only brought very late upon request. Furthermore, an extra topping was forgotten for one portion of ramen. 2. Rip-off special menus: The special menus for the event were already incredibly expensive at almost €50. We therefore decided that one of us would have a set meal, and the others would have "regular" ramen. We had chosen the vegetarian option for the set meal and were expecting the special vegetarian ramen. Unfortunately, when the food arrived, it turned out that the vegetarian version was simply the regular vegetarian ramen. I have no idea if that was intentional or if there was a mistake in the preparation. According to the menu, these vegetarian ramen cost around €17, meaning the rest of the meal cost €30. €30 for a mini glass of sake, two toasts, and a small portion of ice cream. In retrospect, we felt completely ripped off. Either there was a mistake in the preparation, or something worse, and the menu was a rip-off and didn't correctly/fairly label what vegetarian options you were getting. The ramen was delicious, but not recommended for the price or under the circumstances. We were very excited, but overall it was a disappointing experience. What a shame! The food was delicious and the service friendly, but the menu was inaccurate, the set menu was far too expensive, and the waiting times were too short due to the understaffed wait staff.

Best Tonkotzu Ramen in Munich - will be back anytime 😍

So, if you want to pay €60 for: The wrong food delivered, a 50-minute wait for drinks, and still not having all the dishes after three hours. Then you've come to the right place. In short: Absolute horror. We had to drink from the tap out of thirst because we weren't served. I've never experienced anything like that before.

A delightful place I found by chance while browsing Maps. The atmosphere is intimate, with warm, welcoming lighting. You'll only find a table if you've made a reservation, otherwise you risk a long wait for a table. The service from the open kitchen was a bit slow, but the owner is very kind and helpful. They have a CORNER BAR, with cocktail suggestions based on your order. My choice from the menu was ramen with chicken and pork broth, perhaps a little too fatty for an Italian palate, but quite good. Children-friendly, but NO play area. It's recommended to bring children if they're older and can sit at a table. My son found many options he enjoyed.

The tantanmen special was very tasty, as were the pickles. The cabbage was okay, but we've had better. Overall, though, very good food and friendly service! Definitely worth a visit!

The food wasn't that bad. I ordered the regular Maze Soba, but the server mixed it up with another customer’s vegetarian soba. If I hadn’t noticed and pointed it out, the other customer would have almost eaten meat by mistake. Luckily, she hadn’t started eating yet. What I didn’t appreciate was how the owner (or manager) handled the payment. The original price of my food was €17.50, but he charged me €20.13 by selecting a 15% tip on the payment-device himself, without asking. My friend, who paid right before me, was given the option to choose the tip amount on the machine—she simply skipped it cuz she claimed to have a stomachache. (Of course, she wanted to keep it private) But when it was my turn, he pressed the 15% button on his own. It felt awkward to call it out on the spot, so I just went along with it. I would have left a tip anyway—but I believe tipping should be the customer’s choice, not something that’s imposed. That part left a bad impression.

Everyone told me this was the best Ramen in Munich so I finally tried it when it moved close to work. Perhaps due to the high expectations I really felt let down. The ramen was good but definitely not amazing. Pros: the noodles were extremely good, firm texture however too salty. Chashu had very gentle flavors and soft, probably one of the nicest chashu I’ve had. Cons: The broth. You can taste the pork bones but it’s not nearly as rich and decadent as I’m used to. Honestly the broth is something even I can replicate at home so was not impressed (I routinely make my own bone broth at home). Ajitsuke tamago: never had such an under marinated egg.

The best ramen in Germany, no joke! If you've ever been to Japan and long for that unmistakable umami flavor, you'll get your money's worth here. And if you've never experienced that taste before, this is the perfect opportunity. Everything is homemade, absolutely everything: from the pickled vegetables (tsukemono) to the rich broths and tender wontons. Even the ramen noodles are freshly made on-site. I had mazesoba with Japanese butter rice, simply delicious! Whenever I get wanderlust for Japan, I come here. It's always like a short culinary trip to Tokyo. I highly recommend this shop and really hope it continues after the pop-up. An absolute must for all ramen fans!

Highly recommended location to get the best ramen in Munich. Real master's of the craft, I have visited this restaurant 5 times in the last year, and won't stop going in the coming one. I have tried other ramen shops in Munich and I truly believe no one comes even close to competition compared to Monaco Ramen. The selection is limited (as it should be), the service is fast but simple, the location is nice but a little noisy as there are lots of tables. Still super worth to go for a visit and taste amazing ramen.

As a ramen lover, I've been searching for this for a long time and finally found it here! So far, it's the only authentic Japanese ramen I've had in Munich. No experiments with sweetcorn or paprika in the soup 🙏🏻 I could eat it every day 😋

There are several ramen shops in the Deutsches Museum area. Among them, MONACO RAMEN is a shop with an overwhelming presence and a strong sense of mania. This shop was founded around 2021, and the owner of this shop is a true Rawota who has eaten all kinds of Japanese ramen and also studied at a Japanese ramen school. This time I ate "SABA SHOYU RAMEN" which cost 23,90€ (3824 yen at 160 yen). The tanrei chicken niboshi soup, which combines chicken stock and thick niboshi soy sauce sauce, is seriously delicious. It's so delicious that even if you eat it in Japan, you'll be amazed. The noodles are voluptuous, smooth and thin flat noodles reminiscent of Kanagawa Tanrei style noodles. It also includes salt-grilled mackerel, mussels, and shrimp wontons, making it a luxurious dish. I can't believe you can eat such high quality ramen in Munich in Germany... I've eaten a lot of ramen in Munich so far, but this ramen was on a different level. Moreover, it's not just an imitation/copy of Japanese ramen, it's a strange, overseas-like thing. It was so much fun and exciting to eat it. Ausgezeichnet! ! There was an American hamburger shop next to this shop, so it felt like USA VS JAPAN. There was a club next door and I could hear the bass crunching sound. I definitely want to go again. Ich möchte hier unbedingt wieder Ramen essen!!!

I'll definitely be back! Despite the crowded restaurant, I was served very quickly and friendly. And the most important thing: the food tastes EXCELLENT (I've had other ramen in Munich and not all of them were as good). A reservation is probably recommended as the restaurant was fully booked even on a normal Wednesday evening. I was lucky to just get a spontaneous spot. The ambience is cool. The seats at the counter are particularly fun. Otherwise it's pretty simple. Drinks are available at a separate bar. Here you can find very cool homemade lemonades and iced teas or even regular ones from the bottle. Only card payment is possible throughout the restaurant. This should be taken into account. Bottom line: a very good recommendation in Munich.

The food and drinks available are very tasty, and the atmosphere feels very authentic. Especially when you sit at the noodle bar. The prices are a bit high for the area, but no more than any other Japanese restaurant.

The best ramen in München!! The chef is trained in Japan and has a very good cooking technique! Here we go, the best soy sauce ramen in Germany, made by the owner who learned how to make ramen in Japan. It goes perfectly with the buttery pepper rice.

Nice Ramen but it took them 15/20 min to seat us even though there were free tables for ramen. After that it took them like 15 min for a menu and then it took them nearly 45 for 2 ramens. The host at the door seems really unprofessional and doesn’t seem to care much about his job.

Didnt think that i would enjoy vegan broth but it was so umami i think i can go vegan now. the ramen just met my soul.

The place looks pretty cool from the inside & only accepts card payments! They serve ramen 🍜 burgers 🍔 drinks counter (self-service with immediate payment). We ordered shoyu ramen and two appetizers and were unfortunately rather disappointed... 😐

We ordered soy sauce, tonkotsu ramen each and fried gyoza! The quality of workmanship was really high, and I could really feel the care put into it🥹🍜✨The atmosphere inside the store was like a Japanese izakaya, which I also liked! Next time I'm in Munich, I'd like to try other menu items as well.

Great ramen bar with authentic taste! I've eaten ramen a lot in Japan so I know what I'm talking about. I definitely have to go when they have special ramen. Here the boss also cooks and cooks himself, great!

As a ramen fan, I really wanted to try this location. Our choice of menu may not have been particularly fortunate. None of us could eat the tonkotsu ramen and stopped. It actually tastes quite like an animal. The waiter typically said he was the people if they wanted to order that. It just didn't work for us. That would actually have been a helpful tip for us. The vegan ramen tasted good, but was quite salty. Paying €20 each is pretty decent. Then it's better to go back to one of the other Japanese restaurants in town.

After studying in Japan, I was looking for good ramen in Munich and I have to say it is very authentic at Monaco Ramen! Had the Tonkotsu and it's very close to the one in Hakata, Fukuoka. Next time I will try the Taiwan Mazesoba (a specialty from Nagoya, the city where I studied)! Absolute recommendation 🍜

One of the best ramen in Munich. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen, it is very similar to the one in Japan. The quality of the toppings (chashu and egg) tasted very high. The friendly boss himself gave advice and served. We'd love to come back! 🍜

The ramen and the additional toppings were really great. Just doing it is a bit confusing. You stand in the “burger” line. It is not really clear whether this is really necessary even though places are actually free.

Unfortunately I cannot confirm the good reviews. I was extremely disappointed. The ramen was ok, but nothing more. The whole thing is a snack bar and more of a hall. For me the price-performance ratio is therefore not right. But what disappointed me most was the service. It is clear that you cannot have the same expectations of a snack bar as you do of a restaurant. However, I expect certain core values, such as kindness. The customer is not king here, but rather a product in mass production. The service was unfriendly and, in my opinion, the answers were outrageous. I have rarely felt so uncomfortable while eating.

I was in the restaurant to accompany my girlfriend to dinner. However, since I only wanted to drink something and not eat anything, the service staff explained to me that I wasn't allowed to sit here. Without a food order, no chair. The place wasn't full. I then went to the bar next door while my girlfriend ate the food without my company. The chair remained empty. Since not only was the service disgraceful but I also didn't like the atmosphere, I won't be coming back.

Hands down this is the best ramen joint in Munich, and definitely not some wannabe Ramen place that claims to serve authentic Classical Japanese Ramen but puts Bak Choy or hard boiled egg. Would recommend visiting this place!

I didn’t like the food. The ramen was sticky. The vegetarian dish was so salty it was almost inedible. The pickles starter? A few slices of pickle and some plain carrots. Overpriced for what it was. The broth was fine.

The best ramen I have ever had so far!

Erim really did something great - it all started with ramen kits, then the first pop-up stores and finally the permanent shop on Gasteig. An impressive development and a real enrichment for the Munich gastronomy scene! Monaco Ramen serves original Japanese ramen that is unrivaled in Munich. The seats right at the counter in particular create a real Japanese feeling: you can watch the crew prepare something and have your steaming bowl served right where you sit. In terms of taste, it is by far the best and, above all, most authentic ramen in the city. Yes, the prices are a little higher, but there are organic ingredients and real craftsmanship - and it's worth every penny! P.S. Definitely try the gyoza too

The food is very tasty and of good quality, the noodles and eggs are very well made. The place is not very comfortable to sit and be in, since it is next to another restaurant and you have to buy drinks at the bar next door. The price is a little high, but it is worth the effort involved in making a tonkotsu. We recommend making a reservation.

After our trip to Japan, we were really craving good ramen again and - as so often - ended up at Monaco Ramen. We really like the new location on Gasteig, especially the seats at the counter, which are a bit reminiscent of Japan. The map is nice and clear and exactly right. The starters are homemade and something different: In addition to gyoza, there are, for example, wontons in chili oil, grilled mackerel or tsukemono pickles - really tasty. The Shoyu Ramen are exactly our thing: clear, aromatic chicken broth, very well balanced and with handmade noodles and currently also as a special with grilled mackerel. The Tonkotsu also impresses with its strong, creamy broth and reminds us of the ramen in Fukuoka. For us, one of the best addresses in Munich when it comes to ramen, including great advice and a super friendly team.

The store is part of a shared location with a burger joint. The ramen is of a very high standard, great noodles, great broth, in my case the tonkotsu, the ramen egg on point! Clear recommendation when it comes to food!

Well, for about 20 euros per portion it's not too perfect :) Portion isn't too big, it takes a relatively long time to get the food despite a reservation. Without a reservation you will find yourself in front of a closed door. For comparison, you can get a burger and fries for €20 in the same hall, and much faster. Conclusion: yes it tastes good, no, it's not fast food if you wait over 40 minutes for a soup, yes it's a bit too expensive even for Muc, you can find the same quality and larger portions for less money. But it's still good and you should have eaten ramen there

Nice shop and great service. The boss personally served and advised us. Competent and very friendly. The food was super tasty. We were there specifically for ramen 🍜 and for anyone who wants that, I recommend making a reservation. Even before it opened, the queue was probably 20 meters long and with the reservation you can go straight to the door and you will be taken to the seat 👍 The prices are in the normal range compared to the local area. We'd love to come back.

The Tonkotsu Ramen was by far the best ramen I ate in Germany. The homemade pasta in particular is on a different level than the ready-made pasta of other restaurants. The chashu was also great. The soup tasted very natural and you could tell that it was prepared with care.

I try every ramen shop I can and this is the most authentic ramen flavour profile I have come across since living in Japan - proper homemade noodles, long simmered broth and especially the Mazesoba is top of the line even by Japanese standards. Will be back.

Best Ramen place in Munich. The owner is so friendly, the food is incredible. We love coming here and always go for Tonkotsu and Tsukemono. The vibe is very familiar and chill. Big fat emphasis on friendly, the owner even taught us this pickle brine recipe. 100/10 Would recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends as it gets busy pretty fast

Anyone who thinks that soups don't fill you up is wrong. Umd definitely has to pay a visit to probably the best authentic ramen place. The menu is clear and you can always order correctly. It's all very, very tasty. Above all, the service. Friendly, accommodating, open and ready for all inquiries. The boss personally looks after the guests and helps with the orders. I haven't been served so well in a long time and haven't eaten so well in a long time. All thumbs up! ;-)

Excellent ramen, prepared with a lot of dedication to the product, similar to that in Japan. The taste and presentation are hardly different from those in Japan. The only drawback is the relatively high surcharge of €3 for swapping pig chashu for chicken. Location is very fancy, which in my opinion is unnecessary since the ramen is the main focus.

Super big let down after all these Munich food guides hyped them up. Don't trust these guides they don't know what they're talking about. I ordered chicken gyoza and the tonkotsu ramen. The gyoza looked cooked but were still cold. Sent them back and got new ones that still ended up being room temperature. Had to wait up to 30mins for my ramen and it wasn't even that busy. The broth had no flavour like they forgot to put in the Tare. Also the noodles were more like chinese egg noodles than regular ramen noodles. The ramen cost €19.50 while at Takumi the equivalent is €15.80. I don't recommend this place.

Great ramen restaurant. Super nice people great service. We ate the Shoyu ramen and they were really delicious. My friend also had the gyoza, which was also great. A clear recommendation from us.

The last time we were here was in January and, to be honest, we weren't that impressed then. But because of the many positive reviews, we decided to come back again! Luckily😍 Because it was great, the ramen was really great. Can only recommend it & we will definitely come back! 🤝🏼

Definitely best ramen in Munich. We had the Tonkotsu and the Taiwan mazesoba, both were very rich and deep in flavor and the noodles had a nice chewy consistency.

The restaurant closest to Japanese ramen that I have eaten in Germany so far! In order to blend in with the local German taste, the soup has been adjusted to be a little lighter, but the overall flavor is still very close to Japan. Being able to eat such Asian flavors while on a business trip in Germany can be said to be quite outstanding!

Amazing ramen in Munich! The place is crowded during the weekend but we found a table (4 people) even without booking. Waiters are smiley and kind. The service wasn't super fast, but still fine. Just back from Japan, my husband and I tried this new ramen restaurant in town. The restaurant is very nice, very Japanese style, but much larger. The opportunity to sit at the counter is priceless. The quality of the ramen is very good and is very close to the authentic Japanese ramen. It can be compared to what you eat in Japan! However, I would like the noodles a little more doubled and the meat slices a little more doubled. The price is the same as in Munich, but is higher than what you eat in Japan. We ordered Shoyu and Tonkotsu Ramen and some starters. The fried shrimp Wantan is the highlight of starters. I liked both soups, one more clear flavored with shoyu and chicken broth, and another deep creamy smoked. The noodles are the best handmade ramen, cooked with right time. We enjoyed a lot.

Ramen is prepared daily fresh by the owner. It was very delicious. The sitting area was not very comfortable and you cannot order your drinks (you have to buy them from another location inside the restaurant) but besides that was definitely worth the visit!

Love the experience if you know what to expect. It's more of an informal eatery than a restaurant and there are two separate kitchens inside. I was happy to find a vegan ramen which does not have the usual miso broth but a mushroom broth. It was hot and fulfilling! I can recommend it! It's a bit stuffy with the seating. Other people are always seated right beside you. If they add more vegetarian options at around 14-15€ price range, I would definitely return.

I like going to ramen shops when I travel. I went there because it had high reviews. I had the pork bone ramen and it was really delicious! ! Rich soup, juicy chashu, and firm noodles. I think this is the most delicious pork bone ramen I've had in Germany. The atmosphere is casual in a good way. I was also interested in Taiwanese mazesoba and fish sauce ramen. I will definitely come again if I come to Munich ❤️

Visited this restaurant takeaway last week and were not disappointed. The two starters were delicious (ribs were really tender) and the two main courses were also delicious. When we were there there was little going on and the noise was pleasant, only the temperature was quite warm 🥵 You can get drinks at a separate stand and there is also a burger snack bar in the large room. Friendly staff who bring the food to the table and also explain the dishes if you have any questions. Of course it's not for dinner, but that's not what it wants to be. Guests casual and relaxed. Definitely again sometime.

Best ramen in town! I'm really impressed at how the owner has worked his way up from the small interim use of a bar in Maxvorstadt (cooking alone). I first got to know his kitchen two years ago by chance while passing by and have been dreaming about the (vegan) ramen ever since. I found it very charming that he still remembered me despite the huge popularity. But I have to say that I have never eaten such a delicious ramen since then (whether in Germany or while traveling). And the Fat Car offers the perfect opportunity to linger with live music and a roof terrace. Absolute recommendation for Munich!!!

Rather industrial and loud. We waited over 25 minutes for the noodles. In the end it was spaghetti carbonara for over 16 euros. Delicious, yes. Can you get it cheaper and just as good somewhere else...yes.

But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. The ramen soup was absolutely delicious, with a rich, deep broth that was packed with flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked – just the right mix of chewy and soft. Each ingredient seemed to have been selected with great care to provide a harmonious taste experience. In addition to the outstanding taste of the ramen, the portion size was also generous, so I left the restaurant full and satisfied.
