Mein erstes Reuben Sandwich aß ich in Stoney Creek. Es hat mir so gut geschmeckt, dass ich nach Reuben Sandwiches in Berlin gesucht habe. Das Mogg ist ein kleines, unscheinbares Restaurant im 1. OG, an welches man leicht vorbei laufen kann ohne es je zu bemerken. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und das Reuben Sandwich sehr groß und gut, kann jedoch leider nicht mit Stoney Creek mithalten. 16€ für ein Sandwich finde ich ganz schön happig. Das 0,5 l Kokoswasser würde ich nicht empfehlen, obwohl ich normalerweise gerne Kokoswasser trinke. Ich fände es wünschenswert, wenn man hier mit Karte zahlen könnte.

Small restaurant in the former school offering different sandwiches (pastrami and pulled pork for example), shakshuka and cheese cake. The pastrami and the bread are home made and very delicious.

I generally set high standards, and this review reflects my critical assessment. The overall experience for the Reuben Sandwich and Onion Soup receives a total of 3 out of 5 stars. Reuben Sandwich (3.5 stars): The Reuben Sandwich presented itself generously with ample pastrami. The flavor was appealing, but attention to detail was lacking. Unfortunately, the bread proved to be a weak point – suboptimal in both taste and texture. The toasting could have been better. The choice of Emmentaler cheese was not impactful; it failed to contribute significantly to the overall flavor profile. A cheese with a more pronounced taste, such as Gruyère, would have been a more suitable and enhancing option. Onion Soup (2.5 stars): The Onion Soup disappointed with an overload of Emmentaler, resembling more of a casserole than a soup. The liquid content was insufficient, and the broth lacked flavor. The excessive cheese overshadowed the dish, contributing to a heavy feel. The balance between fluidity and taste was amiss. Here, too, a cheese with a more robust flavor profile, such as Gruyère, would have been more fitting. In summary, both the Reuben Sandwich and Onion Soup exhibit positive elements, but the relatively high price and lapses in detail are evident. A refined focus on the finer nuances, including the choice of a more flavorful cheese, could significantly enhance the overall dining experience.

Delicious! Sufficient size, lots of meat, but that's the point ;) perfectly seasoned! Simply very tasty! Only cash payment possible. Last chance to eat there on December 31st, 2023, then the restaurant will move. Where exactly, we're not sure yet.

Cool atmosphere. However, the restaurant is moving at the end of the year. The service is very attentive and friendly. We had a Bloody Mary, a regular pastrami sandwich and a grilled pastrami sandwich with cheese. Everything was extremely tasty and the sandwiches were topped with plenty of meat. However, I would recommend the grilled sandwich, it tasted even better than the normal one. The only small drawback is that at €18 per sandwich the prices are almost New York like. But that's how it is these days. Still a recommendation!

Unfortunately this was quite disappointing. Untoasted quite stodgy bread and the pastrami mostly tasted of salt, although still quality meat, for 18€ I expected something much more harmonious and flavourful.

The shakshuka was too runny and the drinks were served when we were already finished with the food. The quality has gradually dropped over the years and I won‘t go again.

Auf der Suche nach einer echten Katz Alternative in Deutschland bin ich über diesen Laden hier gestolpert. Erster Eindruck gut! Das pastrami Sandwich für 18 Euro ist preislich nicht günstig aber das ist für wirklich gutes pastrami ok. Nur leider war das Sandwich noch weit weg von Katz und co aus den USA. Das Brot war zu trocken und ist schon beim anfassen (oder sogar davor, siehe Bild) zerfallen. Das Fleisch selbst war geschmacklich gut aber leider relativ zäh. Das sollte so nicht sein. Ich hab extra geschaut ob hier das Fleisch falsch geschnitten wurde 😅 also leider fällt meine Bewertung in Sachen Fleisch nicht mega positiv aus. So ein Fleisch sollte keinerlei kau-Probleme machen.

Walked into Mogg looking for a quick lunch, was quite chaotic with a lot of people seemingly leaving standing at the doorway. Confused as to what to do so took a free table. Guy serving came over and made some passive aggressive comments. Snatched the menu from us in order to “wipe” the table. Crazy prices and didn’t appreciate the attitude so we got up to leave. He demanded to know why we were leaving and when we explained we felt he had been quite rude he made it a point to shout at us for how rude we had been. Totally unacceptable for someone to behave this way towards potential customers. I understand everyone has bad days but there were so many opportunities to not have it end this way. Felt deeply uncomfortable after this experience so I cannot recommend coming here.

Get into the building and make a right. Cash only. Never had a pastrami sandwich before Mogg. The host even offered me a piece of pastrami to taste so I can make up my mind. It was delicious so I ordered the Reuben sandwich. Will definitely go back! The service was great and the host was really nice.

A must when in Berlin. If you love pastrami, go to this place. It was really worth it. Just be sure to have reservation and come sooner then hour before closing, because they might not have pastrami then.

Great quality of bread and pastrami. A little bit too expensive for a regular visit. But as a treat once in a while it's fine. And your tadtebuds will be satisfied. Sometimes a tiny bit on the dry side but still worth the visit. Great bloody Marys BUT PLEASE FIX THE CASH INLY THING. ITS 2023 AND THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER. When I pick up money I've to pay a 6 euro fee. Only to eat there. !!!

Der Pastrami Sandwich schmeckte nur nach Senf. Aus New York kenne ich es lauwarm und dieser mickrige coleslaw mit einer Gurkenscheibe ist lächerlich für 18 Euro. Sehr enttäuschend!

Immer noch das beste Pastrami in Berlin. Man sitzt gut und das Personal ist freundlich. Die Preise sind allerdings etwas höher.

Ich hab auf Instagram einen Bericht über Pastrami Sandwich in der Location Mogg August Straße gelesen. Heute am 31. Oktober bin ich dort gewesen und habe ein Pastrami Sandwich-large für 18 € bestellt. Wer schon mal ein Sandwich in New York gegessen hat, ist komplett enttäuscht. Bei mogg schmeckte es nur nach Senf und es waren zu viele Fettanteile am Fleisch die zwischen den Zähnen hängen blieben. Schade hätte mir die Zeit sparen können.

Völlig overrated.... Wir haben uns DAS Pastrami-Sandwich bestellt und wurden leider mehr als enttäuscht. Das Fleisch wurde zwischen 2 laberigen ungetoasteten Brotscheiben in Senf ertränkt, wodurch der Geschmack nahezu gar nicht mehr wahrnehmbar war. Des weiteren wurde es mit gefühlt 6kg Pfeffer zubereitet, welcher dann auch den letzten Fleischgeschmack überlagerte. Zum Schluß ist noch zu sagen.... Bei einem Preis von 18,00€, hätte sich der "Koch" ruhig auch mal Handschuhe anziehen können. Also leider nicht so geil wie erhofft und in sozialen Netzwerken propagiert. Wir waren das erste und letzte Mal dort.

I've had a few sandwiches in my time and the Ruben pastrami from Moggs is the best. The chilled vibe of the restaurant is perfect for dinner and a beer. There aren't too many things on the menu but there doesn't need to be with food that good. I would recommend a visit to anyone.

Überbewertet, von zwei Sandwiches zum mitnehmen durfte ich eins in den Müll werfen-da Moslem und eben kein Schweinefleisch. Es wurde mir einfach ein falsches eingepackt. Reklamation war erfolgreich, nur wohne ich nicht in Berlin. Daher beim nächsten Mal habe ich als Ersatz meins bekommen, aber da der Boss nicht da war gab es nicht mal ein Getränk aufs Haus oder so-sehr unprofessionell. Zum Geschmack:einfach nein, ich wäre am liebsten kein 2.x hin. Es ist geschmacklich nichts besonderes, furztrockenes und an jeglichem Aroma fehlendes Brot. Belag war auch standart.

Der beste Ort um Pastrami kennen zu lernen und zu essen. Hier werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder kommen. Als Empfehlung: das Reuben Pastrami ist vielseitiger als das einfache Pastrami-Sandwich.

a bit pricey but everything is localy sourced or homemade and staff is superfriendly. You should definitely try reuben sandwich (and come hungry cause the portion is really big)

The food was very good, the pastrami was seasoned perfectly. However, I don't know why the classic pastrami wasn't toasted like the Reuben; it would have been definitely better :). I deduct one star for the lack of a sign at the entrance. We stood in line unnecessarily for a completely different place, just like several others. You could put a sign there that Mogg is on the right side.

El ambiente es muy relajado, la comida es buena y las atenciones excelentes. Fuimos con un grupo de amigos a comer el famoso de pastrami. La porción es grande y compartimos un plato para dos personas. El café está muy bueno ☺️ Hablan español y nos ayudo mucho porque todo está en alemán.

This used to be one of my favourites. Now the extremely unfriendly and rude owner/manager is the least of your problems. Food is mediocre at best and preparation of it is pretty unhygienic. Just go to house of small wonders or shiso burger next door. way better food and friendly/professional service

Ich bin einfach begeistert, denn auch geliefert innerhalb von 20 Minuten in Berlin Mitte bekommt man für einen vergleichsweise günstigen Preis sehr hohe Qualität. Die Portionen sind generös und sehr sättigend. Derartige Sandwiches findet man sonst nur auf dem nordamerikanischen Kontinent. Chapeau 🖖 Sandwich bei ca. 450 Gramm, Beilage (Coleslaw) ungefähr 150 Gramm inklusive Gurke. Der Salat ist auch nicht zu sauer und durchaus empfehlenswert. Die Gurke ist schon von der Tagesform abhängig. Das Sandwich immer solide.

Without a doubt worth the time to eat here. Probably the best sandwich in Berlin. Always friendly workers. We make an effort to stop by with reservation when we head to this area of Mitte. Wish we still lived in this Nahe so we could eat here more often. Homemade bread and generous portions... just as it would be if you made the sandwich yourself.

Dosyć mocne rozczarowanie, bo byłem tu lata temu i wydawało mi się, że to taki wzorzec idealnego pastrami. Tymczasem kanapeczki mają zaburzone proporcje (za grube kromki chleba) i nie smakuje to tak fajnie jak zapomniałem. Do tego dodałbym zblazowaną obsługę co zamiast przywitania mówi o płatności tylko gotówką, jest nieobecna, zirytowana pracą. Szkoda

An exceptional place. The team here has mastered the art of artisanal, gourmet cooking in a cool, cozy, and non-pretentious location. You won’t find better pastrami anywhere.

Took the Reuben home and it was just as tasty. The amount of meat and cheese is very generous. The slaw was also very good. Surprised by the quarter of pickle you get though. I am sure they could give at least one whole pickle with the sandwich :) also the pickle is not brined.

J’ai mangé dans ce restaurant établi dans une ancienne école de filles juives. J’ai adoré le pastrami maison accompagné d’une bière locale. C’était une expérience culinaire unique qui marie tradition et créativité dans un cadre culturel incontournable.

Small and cozy! Friendly staff. The Reuben is not a traditional one, so no sauerkraut or prominent mustard twang. Their pastrami is absolutely delicious though, so I had no problem with it being front and center. A sandwich is A LOT of food, and one would have been enough for us to share. We left much of the shakshouka (was perfect btw) because we were simply full. The Bloody Mary is completely flavorless, don’t order. Also why do so many restaurants not offer water in this city? I keep having to ask. Well ok, I’m awkward, so I don’t actually ask. I just stew over it and then buy a bottle directly after leaving that I passive aggressively chug.

The pulled pork was also very good, but the pastrami was clearly the highlight -- so good we came back again the next day to get it again! Their pastrami is just great. Something you don’t find easily anywhere within Germany. Simple and tasteful, i was delighted to have tried both of their pastrami options, like more their traditional one with cheese.

Mogg is in a former Jewish girl school building. Home to the best pastrami sandwich in town but it is not Katz's. Inside you're immediately struck by the intimate but shabby chic room in which the seating arrangements allow you to watch the food being made. Nice touch. Menu is small, prices a bit stiff with a small pastrami sandwich running you 10.5 euros, but what a nice atmosphere, good quality food and staff with a big heart. Something I witnessed first hand once I found out they didn’t take card and was short a few euros. Slightly embarrassed, I politely asked the waitress if I could go to an ATM, but she quickly assured me it was okay as long as I came back another time. I think I might just have to take her up on that.

The driest rueben i have even eaten. The pastrami was so full of pepper you couldn't taste the meat, this was an expensive sandwich even if I was in the states I expected more. There was no noticeable dressing and hardly any saukraut. Was a big dissapointment.

Understaffed, and unnecessarily overwhelmed. The owner and staff do not accommodate any customer requests, and their attitude is take it or leave it. No understanding of customer service at all. I cannot recommend this at all.

Will keep it short. The owner or whoever was running the spot had all of the wrong energy when I'd first walked in. There was a really aggressive and strange interaction over the wifi password that brought the mood down quite a bit. You'd think someone that serious about security would have a more secure password. I think anyone could just guess it. That was the only strange service situation - everyone else was really chill. For the sandwich itself: there were a few things I'd say were off. It's not served on rye bread, the sandwich could have benefited from some carmelized onions to give it a little moisture - everything was a little dry, and the pastrami was a bit over peppered. It's a solid try but really not a Katz Deli (NY) sort of dining experience. Plus the price was pretty rough at 18EUR.

Overpriced and terrible service took 2 hours in total for a lunch sandwich experience

Service was extremely bad we left not ordering. While slowly wiping another table,the waiter, answering about the wait time, told us how busy it was, that it wouldn’t get faster if he took our order right that moment. Also that he couldn’t offer us another table - we actually didn’t even request that. Finally, he advised us to go to the nearby Subway. All of that in a span of one minute. We happily followed this advice and escaped this terrible rudeness.

This place was on my list for a long time. I had the Reuben sandwich and it tasted differently from the infamous pastrami sandwich from NY, maybe kinda smoky? Not sure how to describe it but it was delicious, really worth it. The building is beautiful, I sat outside and they serve through the window, which I found cute. The service was particularly friendly for Berlin standards. Definitely coming back here soon.

This place was class. A bit pricey but worth it. Absolutely mogs the competition with its natty pastrami, pickles that snap like calves of a bro deadlifting too many reps. Mogg mogs.

I can’t recommend this place enough. Incredible pastrami and fresh home baked bread. I live in lower Manhattan and let me tell you this is easily equal to Katz deli. Ny times was absolutely spot on with their review. Tbh the fact that there isn’t a line and the bread is home baked daily makes this even better

The Reuben Pastrami was one of the finest sandwiches I have ever had - maybe even the finest. It was perfect. The pastrami is out of the world. They even make their own bread. Highly, highly recommended.
