Very tasty food, large portions and friendly service!!

We dined here yesterday with 11 people. It was very good and unique. The handmade tagliatelle is a hit. The portions are very, very generous. For the same price, you'd probably get at most a third of that anywhere else. The staff were very quick and friendly. I hope more people become aware of this little restaurant. 😀

Great food. We come regularly. Unfortunately, the weekly menu hasn't changed in a year. That's a shame, because the more frequent you come, the less variety there is.

Every time our BVB has a home game and we've managed to get tickets, we take advantage of the time to go to Miss Mai. The place could be a bit more beautifully decorated, but that's a luxury problem. The food the kitchen conjures up here and the consistently excellent service is simply amazing. We've eaten at Miss Mai at least eight times in the last three years and have never been disappointed. Now the Bundesliga is starting up again, and of course we'll be going back to Miss Mai at the end of August. We're really looking forward to it.

I ate here because of the good reviews, but I have to say this is the worst Chinese food I've had in the last five years. The sauces are extremely sweet, the vegetables are scarce, and the food is overcooked. It doesn't taste as good as in good Chinese restaurants.

I've been there several times and have always been very satisfied. We had the duck dumplings for starters, followed by the duck noodles. The service was also fast and very friendly. Unfortunately, I forgot the chili oil that you can buy there. I'll have to go again then :D Definitely recommend it!

The tofu was very fatty and tasted more like a deep-fried sponge. Unfortunately, very disappointing for the price. The dumplings were better than the noodles, but nothing exceptional.

It was our first (and certainly not our last) time at Miss Mai. A really lovely little restaurant – very good service, the time from arrival to ordering and from ordering to eating was absolutely reasonable. I also like the focus on a few noodle dishes and dumplings – if they're good enough for that. We had spinach dumplings (with tofu) and two noodle dishes (plum tree and peanut fire). I'd give the dumplings 4/5 – don't get me wrong, they were really good, just not special... But the noodles, oh boy, the noodles – they were delicious, I can't remember ever having eaten anything like the plum tree – and the spicy peanut sauce was also an absolute delight. Both dishes were vegetarian – generally, all noodle dishes are available in vegan/vegetarian versions. So, for the noodles, a solid 5/5, and since they were the main course, a 5/5 overall. The price is also completely reasonable, so it's definitely a recommendation 👍👍👍

The food in this restaurant is really good, but I find the prices—especially for the appetizers—too high for what you get. What I really want to say to everyone, though, is that I absolutely cannot recommend this place for working. The employees are not treated well, you sometimes get tasks that aren't even included in your employment contract, and it happens that your wages aren't paid on time or even not paid at all for an entire month. What's also really unacceptable: As an employee, you are filmed there without any consent or signature—whether behind the counter or even in the kitchen. The tips are also unfair: At the end of the month, you only get paid 50%, "the rest should go to the kitchen"—but a lot of it is also taxed, so you end up with less than you think. You can eat here as a guest. But I really wouldn't recommend it for working here.

The food is better than anywhere else. The noodles are really, really good. The decor is a bit lackluster, but the taste is definitely top-notch.

The shop is small, so it can get a bit hectic at times, but when the delicious food arrives, with fresh vegetables and those wonderful homemade noodles—simply amazing—everything else is unimportant. If you prefer a quieter experience, you can have it delivered to your home. Payment, unfortunately, is only possible via PayPal, not at the door. What a pity. I just read about the tip thing and I'm absolutely appalled. How can you steal tips from your hard-working employees? They should be paid out to the staff every day, UNTAXED. The kitchen should be paid from the restaurant till, not from the tip jar!!! Ugh!

100% recommendation. I had the Shanghai Pork Belly with the wide noodles. I usually go to Immermannstraße in Düsseldorf regularly to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine. Miss Mai is definitely on my list for future visits. We were there on a Monday and had a reservation. Excellent value for money.

The portion size was perfectly fine. €43 for two drinks, two starters, and one main course, unfortunately, doesn't match the overall experience for me. I don't need a second visit...

We visited Miss Mai last weekend. Even on a busy Friday night, we received super friendly service, the food came quickly, and it was absolutely delicious. We had the broccoli for starters and two pasta dishes for main courses. Everything was fresh and incredibly delicious. We'll definitely be back.

There were four of us in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the visit was a complete disappointment. From the order to the wait time and the service to the bill, almost everything went wrong. The €100 would have been better spent anywhere than there. Naturally, we ordered drinks first. Among other things, there was supposed to be a decaffeinated iced coffee, as listed on the menu. After more than 30 minutes, I received a hot coffee with caffeine. I'm pregnant and can't tolerate caffeine, so I noticed it physically right away. When I complained, the same coffee was simply brought back with an ice cube. It was hot again and again with caffeine. After the third attempt, I was told that the server who took the drink didn't know how to prepare it properly and had simply used regular coffee. They didn't even have an iced coffee because the machine had broken down. Right at the start, I politely asked if there were any gluten-free options, as I have a gluten intolerance. The answer was short and sweet: "No, we don't." Only after asking someone else did I find out that they did offer gluten-free pasta as an alternative to the tagliatelle. So I ordered the dish with gluten-free pasta. Nevertheless, I was served tagliatelle with gluten. I had to send it back and wait again, while everyone else at the table had already started eating (completely understandable after a 1.5 hour wait). The appetizers arrived uncoordinatedly. One arrived shortly before the main course. The other only arrived after the main course (along with the appetizer, which we had already received), after we had to point it out again. Completely pointless. Everything seemed very rushed, the staff were obviously overwhelmed, and responsibilities were unclear. What was particularly annoying: We sat there for two and a half hours without any real order of events ever developing. Communication with the staff was difficult, and the information was contradictory. We constantly felt like we had to chase after someone – whether it was for the food, the drink, or later the bill. The bill then included two coffees and water. I couldn't drink any coffee because it was the wrong one and then it wasn't available anymore. The water was originally supposed to be on the house. We weren't accommodated in any way. No compensation, no accommodating handling of all the mistakes. On the contrary: We had to actively point out EVERYTHING ourselves. Conclusion: The food was generally tasty, but that was completely overshadowed by all the problems. For just under 100 euros for four people, we would have expected at least a modicum of care, consideration for intolerances, and professional service. As it was, it was simply frustrating and disappointing. We definitely won't be back.

Hand-pulled tagliatelle noodles are a must! There are many vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Tiger Attack is a spicy dish that really packs a punch. I think these are the perfect noodles with just the right ingredients!

About 15 minutes walk from the trade fair. 15 minutes that are worth it. Authentic and very tasty. Had the tagliatelle Shanghai with pork belly. Mild, buttery rind. Highly recommended and also very nice service.

We ate at Miss Mai in Dortmund and had a very good experience overall. For starters, we shared mixed dim sum with three different fillings, all of which were very tasty. For main courses, we each had a noodle dish, one with a light chili spice and the other with a peanut flavor, both with fresh vegetables. The quality of the food was fresh, delicious, and down-to-earth. You can tell that the emphasis here is on good food rather than over-the-top decor. The ambiance is pleasant, but not a high-end restaurant—it's a small, authentic spot where many guests also order takeout. We particularly liked the clear menu. A small menu often indicates fresh ingredients, as they don't have to keep too much on hand. The value for money was absolutely fine. The service was friendly and attentive. Overall, an affordable, delicious, and down-to-earth place for good Asian food. We'd be happy to come back!

We (my husband, a good friend and I) had dinner at Miss Mai's again today and were unfortunately really disappointed. The vegetables were completely overcooked and drowned in sauce that was too heavy. In addition, the service employee was really not very hospitable. From shortly after nine it was clear that she hoped the guests would please leave soon. She was mostly on her cell phone and when I ordered a beer at half past nine (we were sitting at the table right at the counter, she couldn't really get to the table on her own anyway), she literally slammed it on the table while giving it to me Back turned. I addressed everything that was bothering us directly. When she cleared away and asked if it was tasty, I said "Unfortunately not, the vegetables were completely overcooked and everything was sick in the sauce." Her answer was "Should I pack it?" At the end I said clearly that I found it very unfortunate that we had the feeling that we were a nuisance as guests and that I found it difficult that she constantly turned her back on the guest room, which she didn't respond to at all. She simply said that she also had to check what orders were coming in for the delivery service. This has actually never happened to me before. It's also the first time we paid without tipping.

The “Old Shanghai” dish with the classic ribbon noodles was really tasty, the service was super nice and there was a relaxed atmosphere. Portions are a bit big (which is a good thing), but you should just know that beforehand^^ I would happily recommend it :)

Ich habe von der Special-Karte, die regelmäßig wechselt, die „Entenbruststreifen“ als Vorspeise bestellt. Für 12,90€. Es kamen frittierte Stückchen in einer fettigen, harten Panade , die Panade machte etwa 90% des „Gerichtes“ aus, war nicht lecker und schmeckte nicht frisch. Das bisschen Fleisch darin war trocken und schmeckte ebenfalls nicht frisch. Hatte für mich was von TK - eben in die Fritteuse und dann für 12,90€. Nach ein paar Bissen habe ich aufgegeben. Der Bedienung tat es leid, sie war das einzig positive an dem Besuch. Ich kannte Miss Mai von früher, da war das Ambiente im anderen Raum aber noch deutlich besser. Im neuen Raum stand die Luft, stickig, feucht, man sitzt wie an einer Bushaltestelle. Das war definitiv mein letzter Besuch.

The air in the new room was stuffy, damp, it was like sitting at a bus stop. That was definitely my last visit. I just don't understand how you can put out a "court" like that. And then for €12.90. The noodles taste so, so good. I always go for the Terracotta Warrior, my absolute favorite. The noodles are really well seasoned, but I would recommend eating there, otherwise the noodles will stick together. The spiciness was as stated on the menu - so if you order spicy, you get spicy. The service was very good. The restaurant could do with a little spring cleaning, the spider webs on the lamps are noticeable ;) but the tables were clean

There were five of us in the Miss Mai restaurant. The service was very good and so was the food. The menu is small, but there is still something for everyone. The duck starter was excellent. The homemade ribbon noodles were very good. You discover new flavors and are pleasantly surprised. Great restaurant, with great staff.

What a beautiful little place in my hometown of Dortmund. I probably had one of the best dumplings of my life at this cute restaurant and I absolutely love their take on an Asian fusion cuisine. I live in Taiwan for over 15 years so I am always a little bit spoiled when it comes to typical dishes from that part of the world... but not at Miss Mai. I'll be be back next year!

The restaurant is located on a relatively busy street, but does not offer its own parking spaces. Surprisingly, you don't hear the traffic once you sit in the restaurant. There is both a cozy indoor area and a beautiful terrace, which is also inviting when the weather is good. The ambience is simple but stylish with a touch of Asian influences. Particularly impressive: The fresh pasta is prepared directly in front of the guests, which is a bit noisy but offers a great experience. The taste of the food was excellent, especially the fresh noodles. I particularly liked the variety of vegetarian and vegan options, so everyone can find something. The menu may be small, but that's what makes it so good. Every dish seems to have been chosen with a lot of love, and the creative, sometimes funny names of the dishes make you smile even more. All in all a great Chinese restaurant that I will definitely visit again!

Unfortunately, sobering! We are regular customers at MissMai, but service has declined rapidly in the last few months. We've been there 3 times in a short space of time and each time something went wrong. Today, for example, we were forgotten and had to wait around 1:20 for our food even though the shop was empty. The neighboring table was given drinks on the house (despite the shorter waiting time), which wasn't the case with us (although we asked, but here they reacted cheekily and refused). I think you're making false savings here, as service is one of the main points in such a small restaurant. The young staff should catch up a bit… The place is lucky that the food is so good - otherwise we wouldn't come back.

That was probably the first and last visit to this snack bar, because I don't want to call it a restaurant. We were there with a larger group of 12 people. A table was reserved in advance. It was therefore known that an increased number of guests could be expected at a certain time of day. When we arrived, there weren't enough chairs at the table reserved for us. The cards still had to be rolled up and there weren't enough of them either. You put up with these little inattentions in the hope of a good meal. When it came to ordering drinks and food, effort was clearly made, even if the service seemed slightly overwhelmed. The drinks came to the table in a reasonable time, unfortunately the requested amount of glasses were not delivered with the two large bottles of water (it wasn't that bad, they arranged themselves at the table). There weren't enough chopsticks served either. Up to this point it's been a mediocre performance with a few small mistakes that could have been overlooked overall. Now let's get to the actual food. As a starter there was a dumpling for everyone, which was of an acceptable quality. Unfortunately a little too cold. The biggest criticism was the main course. Unfortunately, the kitchen was unable to bring the dishes from our table to the table at an adequate pace, so eating together was not possible. In addition, the wrong dish was delivered, meaning that person had to wait even longer for their meal. Another person's main course was completely forgotten and only delivered after several requests (it only came after everyone else had finished their food). In terms of taste (I had the fire breather with beef (spicy)), the main course was in the lower middle range and unfortunately a bit cold again. In general, I find it very commendable when an Asian snack bar does not use flavor enhancers. In return, you have to work more with spices to combat the sauce carrier (here the supposedly hand-pulled ribbon noodles). The level of spiciness was very low - I would have expected more fire (my partner, who can't tolerate spiciness, found the dish pleasantly spicy). Another point of criticism is the noodle that is the flagship of this snack bar. Supposedly hand-pulled, this pasta was very thick, slightly chewy and very inconsistent in shape and size, which led to uneven cooking results. The distribution of meat, vegetables and pasta was also very much to the owner's advantage and also very uneven on the individual plates. An average price of around €12.90 per pasta dish was not commensurate with the service. At the end, the question of whether it was tasty was simply omitted and any criticism made on site was brushed off. So a final summary: Only try the snack bar if it is empty. With larger groups he gets into a tailspin. Perhaps the quality of the food served will also increase.

Small restaurant, not a huge selection of main courses, which is refreshingly pleasant as you aren't overwhelmed with too many options. The ribbon noodles with coconut curry sauce are super delicious. The mango mint smoothie is also fantastic. What didn't convince me is the tofu. For 2€ more there are maybe four pieces and unfortunately the preparation is stale. But the rest is even better. I would come back!

The food is delicious and the specials menu is out of this world. You need to make a reservation because it is always packed. Sometimes, the wait is a bit long, and it is often rather loud, even outside. It's still worth it because the food is so good!

This week I ordered handmade pasta with vegetables and chicken with chili sauce from miss mai. So strengthening for the terracotta warrior The pasta was special, like tagliatelle. Apart from a piece of broccoli and a few mung bean sprouts, the vegetables mainly contained cabbage, which for me is not a vegetable, but cabbage. I found five pieces of meat, which was sporty for the extra price. But I would give it a second try.
