A lovely breakfast in a great atmosphere

I've always appreciated MIDI for all kinds of food and drinks. But what happened there? They offered ready-made cakes. Iced coffee with clumpy, musty vanilla ice cream. And all at exorbitant prices. Nope, that was a huge disappointment.

Great location, plenty of outdoor seating, interesting food and drink menu, very friendly service staff.

Help, Firat is no longer there! The MIDI has been our regular restaurant for years. Many people complain about the waiters and the service in reviews, which is why my wife and I can't understand why Firat had to leave the MIDI. He was (among other things) one of the shining examples of service. Immediately afterward, we were 1) kept waiting a long time and 2) brought dirty glasses and cutlery. Okay, that can happen, but the very good waiters, who are also the "anchor men" for guests, are not "retained," which is why negative incidents accumulate. Presumably, "trivial" things are the reason Firat is no longer allowed to serve the guests, and the guests are left with the hard work because the service is very much under his control. The same thing happened a year or two ago with a chef – the result was noticeable, or rather, the food was inferior. That's why only 3 stars this time.

We were actually planning on having dinner at MIDI this evening and called the waiter, Firat, to reserve a table. It turned out that Firat no longer works there. That was very sad news, and I can't understand it at all. Such a friendly, positive, helpful, and professional person is no longer with us. We kept going to MIDI precisely because of him, because he always managed to make us feel very comfortable there. Thanks to him, the service was of a special quality. So it's completely incomprehensible and a real shame that he's no longer there. They should keep employees like that!

I was at Midi today and was served wonderfully by a red-haired young lady and a short gentleman. I had absolutely delicious food and drinks. The service was extremely attentive and very friendly, and there were also nice people at the bar. I'd love to come back and highly recommend the restaurant.

We were looking for a place to have dinner and happened upon this one by chance. The price/performance ratio is good by today's standards. Even if you're not very hungry, you can find some nice, hearty little things. In summary, a normal shop that's nothing special, but definitely not bad.

Paying €4.10 for a 0.3 ml Schweppes is a steep price, especially when it's filled from a 1-liter bottle. But serving it warm at 30 degrees Celsius is outrageous, and the waitress's annoyance when you ask for ice cubes is a real shame. Being asked to pay without asking for the bill makes you feel unwanted.

A lot went wrong, but financially we were properly compensated

Telekom's free concert in front of the café was peaceful, inspiring, and a special kind of public space. Unfortunately, the café's owner abruptly ended the atmosphere by reacting aggressively and calling the police and the public order office. Instead of being happy about the cultural revival on their doorstep or contributing by selling water, visitors were herded behind barriers. This had more of a deterrent than a regulatory effect – and ultimately harmed the peaceful coexistence. It's a shame that so little sense of community and atmosphere was shown here.

Unfortunately, the store only survives on its location. I don't know of any store in Bonn with more unfriendly staff. The same goes for the owner. Here, only sales count, not hospitality.

We waited an hour with our drinks before our food order was even taken. One server was very gracious and initially looked after us well, until, sadly, she disappeared. The tables weren't cleaned, and absolutely everything under the table was sticky. The food, however, was quite good. The worst part was the restroom attendant who, despite us being in the restaurant, asked for money twice. The first time we even paid, even though it doesn't say anywhere that customers should pay for restroom use. Then she proceeded to yell at you if you didn't pay.

We had a table inside. We spoke to the waiter when we came in. After 30 minutes, no waiter came or even made eye contact, we managed to get one to come to our table. He wasn't particularly friendly either. No apologies. No please, no thank you. The food and drinks came quickly. The quality was rather mediocre. Some of the items were convenience foods. Since we didn't leave a tip, the waiter simply gave us the wrong amount.

When I'm in Bonn, a visit to Midi is almost a must.

Not great.. We were immediately expected to order drinks and when we, apparently, weren't fast enough, the server nearly walked off. We wanted to order lunch but decided not to as waiting for the drinks took forever. Not once did they ask us if we wanted to order food too, which is not great cause as a restaurant you want to sell, but they clearly didn't. During the time we were waiting for drinks, about 20% of the guests we saw sitting down walked off as they were tired of waiting. And sitting in people their sigarette smoke wasn't very nice either. The coffee I ordered was nice, I'll give them that.

I waited 20 minutes for the waiter. When he came, he actually said he wasn't responsible for me and I would have to wait for his colleague. Excuse me?!

After a long break, I came back here for a small breakfast, just as I remembered it. What I was served as a "Croque Monsieur" had absolutely nothing to do with the French original: two slices of white toast, each with a slice of cooked ham and cheese, all lightly baked. Very cheeky! That was probably the last time I'll be a guest here. Profit maximization is paramount here. The service also only gets one star because neither food nor drinks are served from the back left over the guest's shoulder!

I ordered an iced coffee with caramel, specifically without cream. It was served with cream anyway. It was returned quickly after I returned it, but it seemed as if the cream had simply been removed. It tasted watery, lacking any caramel flavor; neither caramel ice cream nor sauce was detectable. When I complained, I was initially told that the iced coffee couldn't be removed from the bill. Only after I asked again was it possible. My chicken burger, without pickles, also came with pickles, and cutlery and napkins were missing. Only after I asked loudly did I receive both. When the rest of the food was packed, the previously removed pickles were repacked, which is absolutely unacceptable. Mistakes can happen, but with so many discrepancies in an order, a basic lack of care and attention is lacking.

My experience at this club in Bonn was disappointing. The staff was very rude and constantly in a bad mood. The waiters were not friendly at all, didn't greet you and showed no interest in the guests. We also had to wait a very long time to even place an order - and even then we were ignored. Such service is unacceptable, especially in a place that is supposed to offer hospitality and a good atmosphere. I cannot recommend this club.

When I received racist hostility from two older women at the next table today, we were advised to sit at a different place and simply “laugh about it” instead of asking the women “who are known to be conspicuous here” to change seats or leave the restaurant. I'm really disappointed with how little trading there was and won't be visiting the place again. I am grateful for the one employee who apologized for the incident afterwards, but I now fundamentally have very serious doubts about the management's values ​​and moral compass. I realize that a restaurant can only choose its customers to a limited extent, but turning the other way in such situations is simply not tolerable.

We just went in and the barista instantly started to hurry us with his hand to make us order in just one breath take. Last Saturday we wanted to have breakfast and ordered - only to be told at ten o'clock that there were no more eggs because they were "out". At least 4 employees in the store and no one thinks of popping into the neighboring department store and buying eggs? Or alternatively which ones from the market? I originally come from the catering industry myself, we have always made “everything” possible for our guests and eggs are really not rocket science. Just bad this time, disappointing!

Es war mal unser Lokal. Cappu war mehr Schaum wie Kaffee und in einer hohen schmalen kleinen Tasse. Klar alles wird teurer, aber bitte dann auch Quallität. Service Personal unterirdisch da weiß keiner, wo der Gast bezahlen darf. Uns wurde immer gesagt , bei meiner Kollegin. Das ging dreimal so und so mussten wir ständig warten. Nein nicht nochmal, sonst waren wir regelmäßig Gast so aber bitte nicht.

Ich habe sogar eine Kellnerin gefragt, die mich fortan einfach ignoriert und sogar Blickkontakt mit mir verweigert hat. Ich konnte eigentlich nur noch lachen, aufstehen und gehen. Und das habe ich auch gemacht, genau in dieser Reihenfolge.

I oredered a 33cl beer on the menu. The waitress came back with a pint of beer. She said that the 33cl was not available. She refused to take back that drink and asked her manager ...i was supposed to pay for it. I said i did order something that was on the menu and not what she brought and i asked her to bring another beer available in 25 oe 33cl max. She refused and threaten me with paying that drink she brought. It is not in my habit to leave when there is an issue but under these circomstances i left. I do not recommand this place.

I visited the restaurant in the early evening with a friend, we sat inside. We found it very strange that pigeons were constantly flying in and flying over the guest room and above it Bar sat. We each ordered a salad with goat cheese, two salads with chicken breast were delivered, which we returned. Shortly afterwards the waitress brought the salad with goat cheese on top. While we were eating we noticed that there were still pieces of chicken breast in the now mushy lettuce leaves underneath. That is not how it works! There are people who have allergies or are vegetarians. At a price of 19.90 I expect a freshly prepared salad.

The menus are dirty, with squashed insects on the paper, the door to the right women's toilet can hardly be closed and the toilet seat is not firmly installed. That was completely different!!!! It's a shame 😔 The location is of course very nice!!!

Good luck getting a table and service when busy

My daughter and I came to Bonn for the first time. We saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I said “Hello, can we get a table for 2” in English. The woman that initially greeted us put on a sour frown on her face then put down 2 menus on a table and walked off. She said something to another woman who turned out to be our waitress. She was so rude to us. She checked on all the tables but ours. She kept giving us dirty looks. I’m not sure if she didn’t like Americans but the whole experience was bizarre. I had to go up to the bar to ask to pay our check because she kept ignoring us. The bartender told her we wanted to pay and we had to wait another 10 minutes before she would bring our check. Completely unprofessional and rude. It’s a shame because the hamburger and curry wurst were good.
