The gluten-free pizza was simply sensational! I went for the first time today, and this place is definitely ranked number one among gluten-free pizzas. The pizzas are large and the staff is very attentive. I highly recommend it.

Very tasty food and beautifully presented (including Parmesan baskets). Not to mention the excellent gluten-free pizza! Balanced value for money! We've been returning guests for many years. Buonissimo🤗

Very tasty pizza and a great spot for lunch... and always a good lunch with salad 🥗

Actually you shouldn't rate it at all because otherwise more guests will come and you won't get any more space. :-) There are certainly many Italian restaurants in Augsburg and the surrounding area, but the Michelangelo is so good in many things that we simply have to recommend it. Ambiance: You just feel comfortable, Italian flair including a discreetly playing radio station. The team is honestly friendly and accommodating but not over-excited as experienced in other restaurants. We no longer use the menu because the boss makes suitable recommendations and even advises against certain things such as mussels (warmth, freshness) - great! We found the restaurant by searching for gluten-free dishes because the wife developed significant celiac disease within a very short period of time. The smallest traces of gluten are now enough and the day is over. And this is what makes the difference at Michelangelo: meticulous attention is paid to this factor (pans in the kitchen, dishes, etc. and of course the ingredients). I couldn't get the recipe for the gluten-free pizza bread out of the chef, the pizzas themselves are so good that it's hard to believe there's no wheat flour in the food. All dishes are fresh, well prepared and really perfect in quality and quantity. Unfortunately I can't provide any photos, I don't like taking photos of the plate in restaurants. Conclusion: Highly recommended in all respects - we have found our regular Italian. Addition: after the renovation it is even more cozy and authentic. The food is beyond reproach, as is the service. Now our favorite restaurant.

I can't recommend Spagetti Frutti di Mare shrimp were spoiled and I'll never let them stand again!

“Great family meal after renovation!” There were 10 of us eating and we all had different dishes - each of them was excellent! The service was friendly and attentive, and the new atmosphere is modern and cozy. A perfect evening with delicious food, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

I was there on December 26th, 2024 with my wife and my daughters at lunchtime. We had already made a personal reservation with the owner 8 weeks in advance and asked for a nice table. We were then given a table right next to the entrance door and in front of the cloakroom. Every guest who entered the restaurant felt incredibly drawn. Guests who were hanging their jackets on the coat rack had to push past us. One of my daughters ordered a sole and when it was brought, the overwhelmed waitress asked if my daughter wanted the sole filleted, to which she said yes. The waitress went to her boss with the plate and he then came back with the waitress and served the fish on a second cold plate. When the fish arrived at my daughter's house, it was beyond cold. My wife ordered monkfish with baked potatoes and vegetables. She got a whopping 1 potato and vegetables. My daughter had 5 or 6 potatoes. I ordered a calzone, which was crispy on top but completely soggy on the bottom was. The bottom had an inedible rubbery consistency. When the waitress cleared up and took 2/3 of my calzone, she didn't comment at all. I find that quite surprising. I will not recommend this restaurant to my friends and acquaintances.

Food was great, I haven't had such good Italian food in a long time. Everything was really tasty here, from fried salmon to pasta to fish soup! Plus real pizza bread instead of a baguette. Service super friendly and accommodating. Ambiance cozy. You felt at home and comfortable here. Absolutely recommended!!

Seit mehr als 20 Jahren sind wir Gäste im Michelangelo. Dort genießen wir die phantastischen Pizzen und Nudelgerichte. Mit leckeren Fleisch- und Fischgerichten lassen wir uns ebenfalls gerne verwöhnen. Die Vorspeisen und Desserts sind immer ein Genuss. Wenn man sich mal nicht entscheiden kann, sollte man den Empfehlungen des Chefs folgen, da kann man nichts falsch machen. Das Serviceteam ist stets aufmerksam und von ausgesuchter Freundlichkeit. Wir freuen uns schon auf den nächsten Besuch.

Great Italian food...very nice staff

We had lunch with 4 people. Whether staff or boss, everyone is very friendly. We had a salad as a starter. Pizza as the main course. Everything tasted very good. Restaurant is great and would recommend it to anyone who likes to eat Italian.

Large portion Unfortunately it's not very appealing. We both had salad. The pieces were huge. E.g. half a tomato... We had a bit of the impression that it was a feeding trot for a horse. :-)

I wasn't that enthusiastic when I walked in, there were 2 tables occupied and a cold atmosphere, so I was skeptical about the food. More and more guests came until it was full and we also got our food. The food was a pleasure, no matter what was ordered... We had mixed grill, pasta, fish very tasty and Saltimbocca Romana was super tasty. But the highlight was a well-topped pizza with a very thin base, juicy, airy and crunchy at the same time - I've rarely had such a good pizza. The cuisine was better than my expectations and that's why I get full marks for this restaurant. I will accept the distance of over 100 km so that I can eat here more often. See you soon!

Following a recommendation from a friend, the four of us went to the Michelangelo Pizzeria & Ristorante in Augsburg for the first time on Sunday. I have to follow a gluten-free diet and was pleasantly surprised by the range of gluten-free dishes on the menu. The owner explained to me that he can prepare almost every dish on the menu gluten-free. As a starter, my husband and I shared the Antipasto Michelangelo. Care was also taken to ensure that the bread and the Vitello Tonnato (not gluten-free) were served separately. And then the gluten-free pizza - the best pizza I've eaten in years! The pasta dishes can also be prepared gluten-free! Very attentive owner and service. 100% recommendation! Grace!

Delicious Italian dishes and always worth a visit

Eigentlich sollte man gar nicht bewerten da sonst noch mehr Gäste kommen und man keinen Platz mehr bekommt. :-) Italienische Restaurants gibt es sicher in Augsburg und Umgebung viele, aber das Michelangelo ist in vielen Dingen so gut das man es einfach nur empfehlen muss. Ambiente: Man fühlt sich einfach wohl, italienisches Flair inkl. dezent laufendem Radiosender. Das Team ehrlich freundlich und zuvorkommend aber nicht überdreht wie in anderen Restaurants erlebt. Die Speisekarte nutzen wir mittlerweile nicht mehr da der Chef passende Empfehlungen ausspricht und auch einmal von einigen Dingen wie z.B. Muscheln (Wärme, Frische) abrät - super! Gefunden haben wir das Restaurant über die Suche nach glutenfreien Speisen da die Gattin innerhalb kürzester Zeit eine erhebliche Zöliakie entwickelte. Es reichen mittlerweile kleinste Spuren von Gluten und der Tag ist gelaufen. Und dies macht den Unterschied was das Michelangelo auszeichnet: es wird penibel auf diesen Faktor (Pfannen in der Küche, Geschirr. etc. und natürlich den Zutaten) geachtet. Das Rezept des glutenfreien Pizzabrotes konnte ich dem Chef nicht entlocken, die Pizzen selbst sind derart gut das man kaum glauben mag kein Weizenmehl in den Speisen vor sich zu haben. Alle Gerichte sind frisch, top angerichtet und wirklich in Qualität und Quantität perfekt. Fotos kann ich leider keine beisteuern, ich mag es nicht in Restaurants den Teller zu fotografieren. Fazit: In allen Belangen sehr empfehlenswert - wir haben unseren Stammitaliener gefunden.

Michelangelo is what you can call an insider tip. From the outside the restaurant is rather inconspicuous. But as soon as you enter and are greeted (usually by the cool and charming boss himself), you know that you will feel at home! The service in the restaurant is truly original Italian - cheerful and attentive, but "not too much", so that the guest feels "free". Yes, and the food is ultimately excellent, just really tasty. Pizza, really like in Italy, wafer-thin dough in the middle, juicy and generously topped, while the outside is crispy and crispy and baked in a wood-fired oven - everything is ideal when it is served. There is also a mixed salad (which is enough for two people, but is priced for one :-) served with a wonderfully seasoned dressing and also accompanied by two bottles of wonderful olive oil and rich balsamic vinegar. Everything is also a pleasure for the eye, yes, it looks as beautiful and appealing as in an Italian cookbook. So far (on 3 visits there) we have "only" tried the combination of Pizza Rustica and salad. This is because it was just so perfect that you would want to eat it again and again. But the other changing daily specials, which are written on a slate with chalk, also read in such a way that you would like to have them on your plate straight away. And, last but not least: this restaurant is a “must” for gluten-free eaters. Because the pizza is just as delicious in the gluten-free version as it is with “normal” dough. This is really almost impossible (!!!), but here it is a dream come true - both in terms of taste and appearance, with regard to the details already described at the beginning. (Conclusion: please don't all run into this restaurant at the same time! Maybe better in summer, when the large and beautiful outdoor terrace is open. Otherwise we won't get any more space and that would be terrible :-)

Passing through this city, we came on a weekday at 7:40 p.m. to eat there. The boss asked us in Italian if we had reserved. He told us to come back 30 minutes later, which we did...and when he saw us again, he sighed. Thank you for the welcome! He certainly didn't think we were going to come back. Then, he threw the menus on the tables, in short I'll spare you the other details of the inhospitality... obviously, it spoils the meal a little, which was nevertheless correct. Move on and look for a nicer restaurant.

We went last night with my wife and son, we ate a delicious pizza. The waitresses were very kind and smiling, the owner served us making us feel at home. I recommend it very much.

When we visited Augsburg, we chose this restaurant because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, the performance didn't correspond to the reviews at all. We ordered food for several people (a total of 170 euros) via Lieferando. Three Tonno pizzas came without anchovies (one of three toppings according to the menu). A pizza arrived with a hole in the middle. The bruschetta was completely mixed up and no longer attractive. When a complaint was made over the phone, they apologized but only pointed out the bad supplier. We were offered vouchers, but since we don't come from Augsburg, that wasn't adequate compensation. There was no further suggestion of goodwill from the restaurant. Very unfortunate.

We found Michelangelo at the last minute, passing through Augsburg. A lovely restaurant, superb staff and they were accommodating to us with two young children. The food is superb - the veal in white wine sauce is something else and they have gluten-free options aplenty. My wife had a gluten-free pizza that she says is the best in the world. They also do gluten-free desserts, in this case a tiramisu. We'll make Augsburg a regular stop just for this restaurant.

1 hour before closing time, according to the information, it was said in a totally rude manner that they were already closed... When asked if we can just have one more pizza (oven on while the pizza baker works next door) the same answer again, we are already closed.

There is very good food here at a fair price. We had wonderful spaghetti carbonara, which I put in my top five. The pizza and baked goods come from an original stone oven. They were also very nicely topped, the dough was thin and crispy and everything tasted great. The pizza maker works like a machine, we were able to watch him and were impressed 😀 There was a lot going on and despite the heat everything went off very quickly and professionally. Here we come to the only drawback: since everything was full, we had to eat inside and it got very hot. But hardly anyone can do anything about it. And the service mastered these adverse circumstances brilliantly. We'd love to come back.

Food was ok but nothing special. There are much better Italian restaurants in Augsburg. Pizza edge and dough under the pizza are already way too black. I didn't like the atmosphere there, the boss came across as unsympathetic and the service was stressed and unmotivated.

Apparently the best pizza in Naples comes from "L'Antica Pizzeria da Michele". Sorry, I tried it and it wasn't bad, but it doesn't come close to Michelangelo's pizzas.

Best gluten-free pizza in the area. Man also sits very comfortably. Staff very hard working. Food is served quickly. Unfortunately, the boss causes great unrest and complains loudly to the staff. It's probably meant for the benefit of the guests, but that doesn't make anything quicker. I sometimes suffered with the staff. This dampens the mood enormously.

We came for a fish dinner on Good Friday. Unfortunately, as soon as you entered, your eyes fell on the stacked pizza boxes above the "pizza workshop". On the other hand, I found it interesting to be able to watch the pizza maker at work. For my taste, the suspended ceiling and the TV mounted underneath it also detracted from the ambience, even though it is supposed to look classy. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the food, the glazed vegetables were cold and the broccoli was very crunchy. The fish was tasty, both salmon and sea bass, but not really hot, but overall nicely prepared. We also found it positive that we were shown the grilled perch and asked if it should be tramched for us, which we gladly accepted. In conclusion, we probably should have opted for other dishes, such as pasta, which the other guests found very tasty.

We were here today with our children and would like to move in here. Everyone was friendly, the service was perfect. And now for food. We have never had such good Italian food outside of Italy. We had antipasti, pasta, risotto, pizza and grilled calamari. Everything was perfect! The calamari was to die for! If we didn't have a 4 hour drive, we would be here regularly from now on! Very rude! Unfortunately you can't give 0 stars! We were given a voucher and ordered something to pick up! When I entered the restaurant and asked to pick up the food I had ordered, there was no hello. I was just shouted at: “You can’t pay for pick-up with the voucher!” After I asked where this was written on the voucher, the extremely unfriendly gentleman replied: “It’s usually there! (Unfortunately nowhere on my voucher) It's been like this since 1977 and you have to respect the customs of a house." When I replied that I wouldn't come back like this again, the gentleman arrogantly replied: "Your decision, if you like good food After trying the food I can say with great certainty that there are a thousand times better Italian restaurants, but above all friendlier and nicer restaurants! Unfortunately, the gentleman couldn't even open the door for me (with a child and food in his arms), so the colleague behind the bar had to do that! I've never experienced anything like that! Never again!

Fantastic place for coeliacs, as practically all dishes can be made gluten free! The pasta and pizza were full of flavour. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great gluten free meal!

Zijn hier gekomen door de goede recensies. Eerst het minder: de bediening lijkt zeer gestrest, met name door het personeel dat door de zaak rent (overigens zeer vriendelijk en helpt goed met de keuze van je eten). Maar deze stress sloeg over naar ons, omdat we eerst binnen zaten en je dan alles mee krijgt. Gelukkig was er buiten in de tuin snel een tafeltje vrij, waardoor het wat rustiger werd voor ons. Was de bediening iets minder stressvol geweest dan hadden we zeker 5 sterren gegeven. Het eten is werkelijk grandioos, we hadden eerst de gegrilde groenten met pizzabrood met knoflook. Beide aanraders, de gegrilde groenten waren werkelijk zeer divers, buiten de typische paprika, courgette en aubergine, ook o.a. trosje gegrilde tomaten, broccoli, champignons en sla. Het pizzabrood was een complete pizza met tomatensaus en knoflook, heerlijk. Eigenlijk heb je dan al genoeg met zijn tweeën. Als hoofdgerecht namen we de tris di pasta. De eigenaar stelde voor de speciale versie van het huis te nemen en dat was een zeer goede keuze. Deze bestond uit ravioli gevuld met spinazie met daarbovenop stukje garnalen en 1 super grote gegrilde garnaal waarvan de schaal aan één kant al opengemaakt was, spaghetti met truffel saus en verse schijfjes truffel en in een bakje van kaas (denk parmezaan en pecorino) penne met stukjes rundvlees in een heerlijke saus. Echt fantastisch! We sloten af met een affogato en mijn man koffie met ramazotti. We kregen daarna nog elk een ramazotti van de zaak.

Wir hatten uns spontan entschlossen seit langem mal wieder das Michelangelo zu besuchen. Es hat sich seit unserem letzten Besuch von vor ein paar Jahren nichts geändert. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und unser Tisch bekam noch eine Reinigung. Obwohl es schon etwas später war, war das Lokal noch gut besucht. Unsere Bestellung wurde umgehend aufgenommen und man hatte das Gefühl, dass sich hier ein eingespieltes Team um die Gäste kümmert. Und hier in Kurzfassung unser Fazit. Uns wurde ein super schmackhaftes Essen serviert das darüberhinaus noch äußerst preiswert ist. Die Freundlichkeit ist umwerfend und herzlich. So stellt man sich ein italienisches Restaurant vor. Augsburg hat es!

While I was single, I tried out a few delivery services/restaurants in Augsburg and have stayed here for three years. The food simply tastes good, like from a real Italian restaurant… because they are real Italians. Every dish impresses us anew. In my opinion, the concept doesn't really come into its own at this location, hence one star less. Gleich bei der Reservierung sehr aufmerksam und gefragt, ob es einen Anlaß dafür gibt. Der Empfang war herzlich. Obwohl sich das Lokal schnell füllte, war der Service sehr aufmerksam und hat sich immer erkundigt, ob alles zur Zufriedenheit ist. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet und sehr ansprechend, die Qualität hoch. Hier stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Das Restaurant ist ein Muß.

A top restaurant! The food is top quality, The staff including the owner are extremely friendly, courteous and competent. There were 7 of us and we were all more than satisfied.
