Very exquisite restaurant near Bamberg with a very atmospheric, rustic and elegant ambience. The restaurant in Burgellern Castle is definitely not a standard restaurant but a place for special and memorable occasions that is full of history. From the atmospheric area of ​​the castle to the rooms that are somewhat reminiscent of a Franconian Versailles. The menu is varied and there is something for every taste. I particularly liked the selection of Franconian specialties, so that there is always a culinary connection to the region and history. The dishes are handcrafted to a very high standard, the product quality is excellent and the service was very attentive and created an almost family atmosphere and gave us excellent advice when we had any questions. The beer menu with its own specialties is also particularly worth mentioning. There is also a wide selection of brandies and spirits, some of which come from our own production. The price-performance level is a bit high but is absolutely justified due to the product quality and the accurate and tasteful work of the kitchen. Definitely a great place for special occasions and celebrations and I recommend it to every visitor from the region.

Visiting regularly for years. Whether ordering and taking away or for a cozy dinner with a game of cards in the cold season or while relaxing on the terrace in the summer, it's always a recommendation.

We were here for lunch on Sunday at 11 a.m. and were initially pleased with the varied menu. Then we decided on Swiss-style pork loin with rösti and mill schnitzel. The food came quickly, but we couldn't believe our eyes: The 3 loins were tiny and each topped with a slice of unappetizing ham and a small piece of cheese that hadn't even melted. There were also 3 small, fairly dark rösti, which apparently other guests weren't enough either. A thick and indefinable sauce was placed on the plate. I felt sick just looking at it!!! My husband got a stuffed, unseasoned schnitzel that no one knew what was inside or how it tasted. So the food was very disappointing, as was the uncomfortable atmosphere - just like in a cafeteria. The waitresses also seemed overwhelmed. Added to this was the volume at which it was impossible to have a conversation. We felt it was mass processing and won't be coming back because there are so many good restaurants in the area where even more emphasis is placed on the individual guest. It is incomprehensible to us where this good rating comes from, which is certainly not objective. We hope that we can help some interested parties with our really honest review.

I discovered Würgau while looking for accommodation during a hiking tour lasting several days. The best times of the hotel are in the past, especially when entering the single room a journey through time began. The all-plastic version of the bathroom resembled an oversized Dixi. The price-performance ratio for the overnight stay and a breakfast that served its purpose were very good. The selection of Cordon Bleus for dinner was phenomenal -> feasting after 25 kilometers a day! Added to this are friendly staff and an exemplary demeanor from the boss. I would check in again for one night during a hiking or cycling tour.
